What My Pregnant Self is Eating 3/1

Re: What My Pregnant Self is Eating 3/1

  • @businesswife Do you have an area near a window with lots of light? I start my seeds on the dining table. Not aesthetically pleasing but it gets the best sunlight. Grow lights do help them get even light, though.

  • I’m in a 3rd floor apartment, and my garden is in containers on the balcony! I’m excited for lettuce and radishes again (I can only do simple crops haha). Maybe I should try to grow spinach, since I’ll need those muscles to carry my pregnant self, and then a baby, up the three flights of stairs  :s
  • For those of you craving sushi and not wanting to get the raw fish- Sushi with shrimp, scallops, eel, and crab are pretty much always cooked.. also most places will cook the salmon or other fish for you if you ask!

Still suffering from morning sickness- it's a task trying to eat healthy when carbs all all that sound appetizing!! LOL. Fruit and yogurt are ok but veggies have been hard to stomach. :/

  • Anything with Alfredo sauce. I thought can't, but didn't, eating the sauce with a spoon.

  • @stothi I wish I wanted meat! I am living on fruit right now. which I am not complaining about, because I do love fruit, but I really miss eating meat it just is not appetizing at all.
  • We had pizza for dinner. Nothing sounded appetizing but I knew I could make myself eat pizza. H just opened a beer and the sound of the top coming off made me want a beer so very bad!
  • @stothi I know your situation with H not being around is 99.9% crappy, but I am jealous of your ability to eat the same thing multiple nights in a row without complaint from others! My H would be like, "sooo...could we do anything chicken?"

Ha! This is funny cause I actually commented on it to friends/family that it sucks having him away but that it's nice to be able to make whatever I want for dinner without considering another adult's opinion.  My son and I will eat stinky fish or casseroles or cold sandwiches every night with no complaints.  My husband doesn't like fish really at all and would prefer not pb&j for dinner. That being said, the man doesn't cook and he is smart enough to just say, "thank you," and then eat it when I serve him a PB& jelly sandwich for dinner cause it's still better than what he would have come up with. The man is stunningly lazy when it comes to meals and will actually just not eat if he has to make something for himself.

  • I had the biggest craving for sour gummie worms the other day and tonight dinner was pizza rolls. This baby is not liking healthy foods right now unfortunately

@stothi I went on a chocolate dairy product binge last pregnancy. Chocolate milk, pudding, ice cream, f yes. It was all SO GOOD. And then it wasn't.

Eta: I just realized that some may not consider pudding a dairy product. It has milk in it, so bug off. It contains dairy!
  • Eggs and coffee - ugh!!!!!!!!! puke puke puke. I was going to make boiled eggs and let the kids decorate them yesterday. We had a snow day. But - oh god - the smell. Nope. Couldn't do it.
Still craving the same deli wrap - grilled chicken, coleslaw and sriracha sauce with pickles. Can't get enough.
  • @sarahlynn72181 That wrap sounds amazing!

I am in the same boat as you, @NinnyJean . I've been craving sour and gummies so my husband bought me some Easter sour jelly beans. They're so good, but I need to get some actual gummies, too... My baby does not seem to be big on healthy food either. The main thing I know I can eat right now is pizza. Hoping the second trimester brings healthier cravings...
  • @runninginva and others. Here's an idea to satisfy cravings, but substitute with a healthier alternative. I know, less fun...

@sarahlynn72181 ugh I feel your pain! I have the same two aversions! It sucks! I've started drinking a cup of tea in the morning instead because the caffeine withdrawals weren't good.

Last night I had the oddest dinner- Pizza and brussel sprouts.... lol.
This morning I had chocolate chip and banana Kodiak cake pancakes :) The best!!

Haha @stothi my DH is the same- he's the worst about meals! If I am gone for dinner I usually leave him something easy to have and I will get home and notice it wasn't eaten.. he will have like popcorn or snacks for dinner or order himself pizza instead of taking 5 minutes to make himself a legit meal, it's ridiculous! lol

  • @EErin86 popcorn is definitely dinner food! I have it probably once a week when DH is not at home.
  • Just had a cup of tea this morning in lieu of my usual coffee and it was such a good decision. I’ve had coffee cravings this whole pregnancy, but my morning cup hasn’t been sitting right the past week or so. Tea tastes like heaven!

  • I just ate a pizza lunchable.... And now I want more  <3
  • @klj0228 @EErin86. Popcorn is so legit for dinner, Large bowl with real butter and salt... YES PLEASE.
@klj0228 I hope you can eat some of it soon, seems like you are doing a little better thank goodness.

  • I'm not sure if this is a regional thing or not, but I had some yummy chicken riggies for lunch today, and balanced it out with a small side of broccoli. Don't even care if I get heartburn.
  • @nlc8424 I'm from the Midwest and have never heard of chicken riggies. What are they?

I got a taco for lunch and now all I can taste is onion... I didn't even get onions on my taco! Think mints were no help, I'm hoping these sour patch kids clense the palate
  • @sclarke7 thinking I might try to make some popcorn for dinner tonight.

turkey and cheese lunchable sounds really good right now, but darn lunchmeat!

@EErin86 it's chicken mixed with a creamy/sometimes spicy tomato sauce that has both green and hot peppers and heavy cream and cheese over rigatoni. And FTR, I did take a lactaid pill with it so I don't have to suffer from the dairy. When I Google it, it does appear to be a NY dish.
  • @nlc8424 non-pregnant me would say that sounds absolutely delicious!!! Pregnant me says there are too many things in there and too many smells involved.

I had captain crunch for breakfast and have some snacks throughout the day. Eating what I can when I can and praying my body gets to keep it.
  • @stothi I’ll be in the same boat tonight. Accidentally bought more eggs yesterday even though I already had a dozen. Good thing DS loves hard boiled eggs! Maybe some egg salad sandwiches will be on the menu for lunch this week.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida I had 2 egg salad sandwiches yesterday. So yummy! The smell really bothered me though. Once I started eating I was fine but the initial smell really threw me. So weird. I've never thought eggs had much of a smell before.
  • @stothi I was just thinking about making some cinnamon toast...I think I will!
  • I’m with some of you on the coffee aversion—I’ve never been so disgusted by something I love so much.  I have also been repulsed by red meat , but i had part of a meatball last night and nothing terrible happened so I think I’m rounding the corner at almost 15 weeks. This week’s craving—PUPUSAS! Made DH pick up pupusa platters the other night because a friend mentioned them at work and I couldn’t stop thinking about them. And I am totally on the peanut butter train too; my guilty pleasure is the fresh ground honey roasted peanut butternut from Whole Foods. It’s more expensive so it’s a special treat but it. Is. So. Good.
  • @CSchoFink I've never heard of pupusas, but I looked them up and they look delicious!
