I’m not usually one to complain about MH, because he’s usually a pretty great, sensitive guy. But holy shit yesterday I wanted to throat punch him.
He pushed me into starting a keto diet a couple months back because he has no self control and won’t stick to it himself unless I also suffer. I acquiesced because I wanted to get healthier before getting pregnant.
But he doesn’t seem to think it matters now that I’m KU! That since I’m “not underweight”—a polite way of saying obese—that it shouldn’t matter if I keep dieting while pregnant. Yesterday he said “I bet you could lose another 40lbs before the baby comes if you really dig in.”
Today he looked at me like I was shooting up heroin when I had some toast to settle my stomach.
Who is this asshole that has body snatched my husband?!
Wow @concreteayngel. I hope you informed him of the very negative effects of your body thinks you're starving - losing weight like that. I think all men have those idiot moments at the worst times.
@concreteayngel SAME. I picked us up dinner on the way home last night, complete with dinner rolls from Texas Roadhouse and my DH THREW. THEM. AWAY. He almost died last night y'all.
@concreteayngel I wold inform him that carbs are especially important to a growing baby. That you could actually hinder the baby's development if you don't eat carbs.
I'm insulin resistant, so I have done a lot of research on how carbs affect the body. One thing that's abundantly clear? Do not carb restrict while pregnant.
@concreteayngel Throat punch away for that one. Your bodies are going to be on severely different journeys moving forward, and he cannot rely on or blame you for his goals. Hopefully he can learn to decouple his personal path from yours. @lynzev what?I definitely would have sent H right back out to replace them. Baby wants a roll darnit!
Thanks for the support, ladies! I told him I wasn’t going to be restricting carbs anymore until I at least talked to my OB about it, which won’t be for a couple more weeks.
It’s funny, it’s like he thinks I’mbeing the unreasonable one. Yesterday when was trying to tell me what I shouldn’t have for dinner, I told him to knock it off, he says “but I just know you’re stronger than your cravings!”
If he keeps this up, I’m spilling the beans about this baby just so I can throw him under the bus with his mom and sister, who will for sure knock some sense into him.
If one more person tells me they can't believe my Dr doesn't do ultrasounds in his office, or that I don't get one until the first trimester scan, I might go off.
Yeah, I want to see my baby, but you telling me how you can't believe this is how my Dr does it, ticks me off. He seems to refer a lot of things to a fetal medicine Dr at the hospital (ultrasounds and scans, discussions of medicines, and more high risk items). Which, I'm fine with. He seems to be more knowledgeable about GYNO stuff. I've literally known the man since before I was born, he was the Dr who delivered me and all my siblings. The office manager is also the grandma of my step son's best friend. I just feel comfortable there.
