Hello, let me introduce myself first..
For the first 30 years of my life, everything was smooth and worry-free. I was my parents’ most beloved child, found my true love in college, and happily married him after graduation.
At work, I was my boss’s most valued employee. Whenever I was in charge of a project, colleagues would inevitably say, “Oh, then I’m totally at ease.” I was constantly named “Employee of the Year,” with generous bonuses every year.
Later, I started my own business. Within just three months, I had broken into the market and started making money. By the fifth month, I was earning twice my previous salary. Growth was steady month after month. Right when the business needed more hands, I serendipitously met an amazing partner, and the company reached a whole new level.
Really, it seemed like at every step, whatever I needed, a pair of hands would always place it right in front of me, just in time.
My Two Girls: Ellie & Mia
Meet Ellie, My Firstborn
In 2020, my husband and I decided to have a child. After trying for over a year, we finally got the news in 2021 that a little one was on the way. In 2022, we welcomed our first child, Ellie. She made me a mother.
She is utterly adorable—big eyes, rosy skin, chubby little hands. Every time I look at her, I can’t help but give her a kiss. She is pure joy, and I love her more each day.
But as a first-time mom, I faced unprecedented difficulties. The postpartum tearing wouldn’t heal, and the pain was excruciating. Clogged milk ducts made my breasts hard as rocks. The severe sleep deprivation… And what was even more crushing was that, with zero parenting experience, I was clueless when faced with her unexplained wailing, night terrors, refusal to nurse, constipation, diarrhea, fevers… I desperately searched online, longing for one accurate, truly useful answer!
It was during this time that I thought, once I make it through this “dark” path, I must leave a light on for other new moms.
And Then Came Mia
Ellie had just turned one when I got pregnant again. In 2024, we welcomed our second daughter, Mia.
Completely different from Ellie, Mia is a great eater and sleeper. Although she had her fussy moments in the first two months, starting almost from month three, she became super easygoing. She feeds on schedule, gradually sleeps through the night, loves her solid foods, and adapted quickly when I had to stop breastfeeding due to mastitis.
This made me realize just how vastly different babies can be! It made me even more determined to write about my experiences.
Why I Had to Start This Blog
The Catalyst: A Life Pivoted
After Mia was born, my business also began to decline sharply. I had no choice but to close it and become a full-time mom. My work no longer involves Excel and Word, but instead revolves around changing diapers, washing bottles, making baby food, and managing household chores…
This has been a monumental challenge for me. All my past achievements seem irrelevant now. Managing two young children has brought me a sense of frustration I’ve never known before.
The Daily Reality
They are always fighting over things. When one is in my arms, the other immediately demands to be held too. When I try to cook, Ellie wants me to read her a book. When I attempt to load the washing machine, Mia has a diaper blowout, and I must drop everything to change her…
By the time I finish all that, I see the cup of hot coffee on the table has gone cold again. And it’s not until evening that I remember, “Oh my goodness, the clothes are still in the hamper, unwashed!”
Of course, being a mom is filled with happiness, but that doesn’t negate how hard it is.
My Promise to You
Because I’ve walked this path myself, I won’t just tell you how joyful motherhood is, like many websites do. I want to share my real, unfiltered experiences so every new mom can find a “companion” here.
I want to tell you: you are not alone. What you’re going through, I’ve been there too. Your breakdowns, your helplessness, your moments of losing control—I’ve had them all. You don’t need to feel guilty. This is just a small, necessary stretch of the journey for every mom.
My Hope for This Space
I really want to share my parenting experiences—not just the warm, glowing moments, but to honestly document the pitfalls I’ve stumbled into, the tears I’ve shed, and the “survival wisdom” I’ve scraped together in utter exhaustion.
The Goal: A Mom’s Toolkit
I hope this blog becomes a “mom’s toolkit,” filled not with vague theories, but with:
- Practical Tips: Like how to quickly figure out why a baby is crying, tried-and-true methods for dealing with clogged ducts, or how to efficiently manage the daily grind with twins (or two under two) solo.
- Pitfall Avoidance Guides: Sharing the baby products I regret buying the most, and those “game-changer” parenting hacks. Letting you know which parenting anxieties you can let go of, and which principles are worth holding onto.
- A Community for Moms: I hope my stories connect me with more moms like you. We can cheer each other on in the comments, share our own tricks, turning the storms we face alone into a journey we walk together.
The Bigger Vision
My previous career taught me to analyze data, solve problems, and optimize processes. Now, I’m applying all those skills to this new “position” of Mom. I want to prove that a mom’s value is absolutely not confined to the home. The mindset, resilience, and creativity we built in our careers can shine just as brightly—perhaps even brighter—in this more complex, long-term “project” of raising humans, and can even be transformed into a force that helps others.
My hope is simple: that every mom who opens this blog can let out a sigh of relief and say, “So it’s not just me.” Then, she can find a bit of practical info, a dose of comforting solidarity, and return to her sweet, chaotic mom-life with a little more confidence and a little less weight on her shoulders.
This road? Let’s walk it together.
Re: STM Check in / Chat 2/26
15 weeks. A magic 8 ball.
How are you feeling?
Pretty good. A little sciatica pain, but not dibilitating.
Rants/Raves?
TMI, but DH and I have been having the best alone time ( if ya get what I'm saying.)
Questions?
Just found out I have a SCH. Doctor told me not to worry about it. If you had one, when did it clear up for you?
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
DD has just been super lovey. Always coming up and hugging me. Telling me she loves me. She's also started playing music from this little activity table she has, and does her ballet dances; complete with arabesques. She's so serious, it's hysterical.
Horrifying, well besides licking my shirt (weird), she always wants to help cook. This is great, until she tries to grab something off the cutting board while I'm chopping with a giant chefs knife.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Headaches, only occasional nausea, and rlp
Rants/Raves? I want to rave that the narcolepsy has gotten better and I can sleep more normal hours
Questions? Nah
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Not so horrifying but sucky- he's decided sleeping past 5am is for the weak.
16W4D
How are you feeling?
Still have ms all day, worse in the evening. Threw up a lot last night. I’m getting headaches every day and just hurt all over.
Rants/Raves?
Rave: DS is still being really helpful. Doesn’t often complain about doing anything I ask him to unless he doesn’t feel good.
Rant: DH is becoming less helpful. I usually want to punch him. He was home all weekend, felt good, and did almost nothing but sleep.
Questions? Nope
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
The 4yo neighbor girl asked DH if he is pregnant too. So now DS says, “Dad, you look pregnant but you just have a fat belly. You should exercise.”
How are you feeling? Pretty ok, the insomnia is still going but it's taking me less time to fall back asleep now so more sleep overall.
Rants/Raves? DH and I had our first date night in a long time on Saturday - we went to dinner with friends and it was really great. We've been going through a rough patch so it was nice to get out and have some grown up time
Questions?
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? We actually managed to get outside for a bit yesterday! We pushed DS around the block on his tricycle and he looooved it, he kept making rooooom roooooom noises lol! DSS is going to be 13 in a few weeks so our cute moments have long gone, but I can say that I'm super proud of all the work he's putting into his band practice. He auditioned for the bass clarinet position in his school band and worked his butt off and he got it!
Me: 37 Him: 38
Married 11.07.2015
How are you feeling? RLP and achy, headaches. I'm feeling rather frumpy. I don't like this stage of I don't really look pregnant, maybe she's just gaining weight, blahness. Hopefully my belly pops more over the next few weeks. I was looking at old bump pics from my pg with DS and I popped
Rants/Raves? Rant: Natera needs to get it together. Still no results of my Panorama test. Wahhhh. Rave: DS has been in his big boy bed (full bed with a box spring) for 2 weeks now and it's going so well!! I feel like he is sleeping better and waking up happier and more well rested! Yay!
Questions? Nope!
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? DS has just started saying his first and last name when you ask what his name is. Yesterday I asked him what his name was and he said "big brother!" with a huge smile on his face. Heart melted.
DS: 5.28.15
DS#2: EDD 8.31.18
17 weeks tomorrow - haven't look yet.
How are you feeling?
Little depressed just at my lack of being able to do anything physical for the pain.
Rants/Raves?
The aforementioned pain. Pubic symphysis is no joke.
Questions?
Not really.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
DS is slightly obsessed with people dying right now so he's been saying things about basically how we're going to die or he'll still be my big boy even when I am dead LOL
How far along are you? How big is baby?
15 weeks, size of a gerbil
How are you feeling?
Better! The nausea is better and I have a little more energy. I think I have some sort of allergies or a cold or something because every morning I’m a snotty, sneezy mess.
Rants/Raves?
Rant: I never know when the insomnia will hit. Last night I was awake for two hours. Also, my legs hurt at night.
Rave: I had most of the day to myself yesterday and it was glorious. And I’m getting a massage today. Can’t. Wait.
Questions? None
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
This is both cute and horrifying: DS likes to pat my tummy, thighs, and arms and tell me “mommy, I love your squishy parts.” Glad somebody does, lol! Also, he keeps telling me he doesn’t want to grow big so he isn’t going to eat anymore. What do I even say to that?!
16w3d, an avacodo?
How are you feeling?
Pretty good but tired. I feel like everything just takes so much more energy. I really miss the gym but I'm worried I'm not getting enough food/rest to make it through workouts. I know I should just suck it up and go (and be prepared with snacks) but I almost passed out in the grocery store a couple of weeks ago and it's really messing with my head.
Rants/Raves?
DH is in California this week so I'm having a bunch a girlfriends over Friday night for food and movies to give me something to get me through the week. I'm super excited bc I haven't done a girls night in forever.
Questions?
Nope
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
DS played "tag" yesterday where he would tag my mom then run over and snuggle hide on me. It was so freaking cute!
I'm not sure this is horrifying but DS thinks pretending to choke is hilarious. Usually I'm able to tell and ignore him but not always and it freaks me out! Then he giggles to himself and I'm like wtf kid I do not need to extra stress.
He's 13 months btw, so I think he'd just playing with what his body can do bit still not fun.
How far along are you? How big is baby?
15w 5d
How are you feeling?
Alright, just really crampy and achy and emotional. I was definitely not this emotional with DD.
Rants/Raves?
OMG it's sunny here for the first time in a looong time, and it's actually supposed to be in the upper 40s. I'm gonna try to get out for a run during my lunch break. FX I don't die since I basically haven't worked out in approximately 15w 5d.
Questions?
We are really trying to get DD to cut back on milk and eat more food. How did you guys manage this? It seems impossible. We try to offer her food at every meal and she won't ever eat it. So then I feel like I have to offer her more milk because I know she didn't eat any food. Vicious cycle.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Horrifying: DD picks her nose now and eats it. How do you get a 13 month old to stop doing that?! So nasty.
Cute: She twirls on command. We tell her to twirl and she puts one arm in the air and spins around. It's adorable. She also fake sneezes and it's so funny.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 15+6 baby is an orange
How are you feeling? Better. Like my
belly grew overnight!
Rants/Raves? DS has been such a mama’s boy, so it makes me nervous for the future and having two needy kids. Maybe the next one will end up preferring dad?
Questions? -
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? He has started saying more sentences like “Mama, where are you?” And “I want mama.” Because he is obsessed, obviously.
15 + 4 - Orange
How are you feeling? Pretty good.
Rants/Raves? Finally telling everyone at work. Didn't tell my freshmen but I told my juniors. They are sooooooooooo freaking quiet, it was a little awkward but they are happy for me. Can't wait to tell me sophomores later, they will be thrilled!
Questions? Nada
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
I was upset on Saturday and crying and I hate that I cried in front of DS but man, the empathy he showed, he was genuinely concerned about me, he was hugging me and wiping my face and stroking my cheeks...which made me cry more because it was so damn sweet.
16 weeks, the size of an action figure (or avocado)
How are you feeling?
I have a cold, courtesy of my adorable 16-month-old. It's not awful, but being sick while pregnant is never all that fun.
Rants/Raves?
Kid #2 has given me more zits than I ever had as a teenager. Thank goodness for good makeup!
Questions?
Nope
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Our son flaps his arms like a bird and yells tweet tweet when we walk by bird cages at the care center. We thought it was pretty cute!
How are you feeling? Pretty ok. I still get exhausted super easily and my back almost always hurts but it's tolerable.
Rants/Raves? I have to travel to LA tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it. My employees are worse than my kids and I don't want them to embarrass me at the meeting tomorrow.
Questions? Is it August yet?
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? DS2 has been a holy terror lately throwing tantrums about everything so that's been fun and the complete opposite of cute.
August 18 Siggy Challenge: April Showers
How are you feeling? Mostly okay. Woke up a little nauseous this morning, getting headaches like every afternoon though.
Rants/Raves? Having a hard time sleeping due to the headaches. Also my MIL said yesterday that she was "so fat, her belly was as big as mine." Gee, thanks.
Questions? When do I start glowing and looking cute?
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? Horrifying is the screaming incessantly to get what he wants. I am pretty sure it's because there's a kid in his class that does it (I think the child has some sensory issues, though I am definitely not laying blame). It's super annoying because DS knows how to use words to get what he wants instead of acting like a crazy screaming banshee.
Cute is giving soooo many kisses and hugs and saying "I love you SOOOO much!"
17w a pomegranate.
How are you feeling?
Not bad. I’m grouchy about work, but physically doing well.
Rants/Raves?
There is 6 inches of fresh snow, that hasn’t been plowed yet, and I shouldn’t be at work. If we had students today, it would be cancelled. Stupid people who don’t care about the teachers.
Questions?
Nope.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
It’s both cute/good for you and oh man that is not going to end well. E finally got L back. He is a typical 2.5 year old, and doesn’t play super nice with his little sister. She was arm tackled, got up, looked at me, then punched him in the back of the head. It was wonderful and o see L realize that he can’t be mean to E, but I’m not sure I want her to know she can get him back.

How are you feeling? Decent. I've had bad migraines again at least every other day, which sucks, and ruined my day yesterday. But otherwise the food aversions and nausea have finally slowed down.
Rants/Raves? I'm feeling baby almost every day now and I'm really excited since it's my favorite part of pregnancy.
Questions? Nada.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Cute: DS is super interested in babies, especially baby brother. He hugs and kisses the belly before going to sleep every night now, and will come up to me saying he wants to kiss the baby. When he woke up this morning, he hugged me and the belly, and then completely unprompted started singing songs to the belly
Horrifying: Potty training has for the most part gone well, but we didn't intend to night and nap train at the same time, just because he never woke up dry. Well, he kind of did it on his own, and now he seems to be terrified to go in his night diaper, plus some recent constipation, and the past several nights have been torture getting him into bed or to nap, because he's insistent that he needs to poop, but then he sits on the potty and maybe goes a tiny little nugget and says he's done. It's so frustrating. I'm going to get him some prunes or something today to help clear him out.

How are you feeling? I feel like shit today. I don't get morning sickness, like I've never had it. But I was around DH's nephew Saturday and he was sick and now I've been super nauseous all day. I hate my ILs. You don't bring people around sick kids without warning them, that's the definition of rude.
Rants/Raves? I think I just ranted already....
Questions? Can't think of anything....
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Cute: DS has learned to hug, but he only hugs "Mama". So he'll 'run' up to me wherever I am and hug my legs. Other people ask him for a hug and he runs to me and hugs my leg and says "Mama". Heart melter.
Not so cute: Stop throwing food and eat it please baby. Mama is tired.
14 weeks and 1 day - peach
How are you feeling?
Pretty good but feeling super huge already and I don’t really look pregnant
Rants/Raves?
Rant: I wish Natera would hurry up already with my results!! I’m dying to know!
Questions?
Nope
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
My DD has been extra clingy recently but every time I come home she runs to me and gives me a big hug and tells me that she loves me. She told me yesterday that she doesn’t want me to go to work anymore but just be with her all the time. It melts my heart!
DS2 started preschool (Montessori school, like daycare mixed with preschool) and they wouldn’t allow it for nap time. We just went with it and said no more boppy (that’s what he called it) and he was basically like meh, ok.

How are you feeling?
Well, I’ve been sick with flu/fevers now turned head cold for the past 16 days straight (yes, I’m counting my days of misery). I’m so, so done with this winter...
Rants/Raves?
Rave: I’m finally getting around to telling some select people about my pregnancy, which is making it feel a bit more real. We also reserved a spot for baby #2 at daycare today - glad we didn’t wait any longer because we got their last opening!!!
Questions?
Looking for advice on how to handle my 21 month-old’s newest behavior issue (see below)
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Horrifying: my DS (21 months) threw a toy truck at my face this morning and left me with a big red mark under my eye that I had to explain at work... He’s been very violent like this recently, all directed at me (hitting, throwing, etc) and I’m not having much luck redirecting this behavior. I know it’s typical and he doesn’t really realize what he’s doing is bad, but I’m not enjoying it at all.

How are you feeling?
Pretty good, but no motivation to do any of the things I need to do. I usually use nap time to get things done but lately I’ve used that time to nap myself.
Rants/Raves?
Loving all the movement, it is so reassuring.
Questions?

GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
DS is all about mommy and while it can be annoying when I’m trying to do something and he doesn’t want daddy, it just melts my heart. He will come up to me and hug my leg and climb up on the couch next to me and “give kisses” (the open mouth sloppy 13m/o kind). It’s so sweet. DD is such a daddy’s girl so the love is nice.

How are you feeling? Just tired.
Rants/Raves? Miss SO. Ready to have him home for good. 3/28!! Need his help just taking the kids sometimes. So I can legit rest.
Questions? No
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? Pooped in her pants. And I had nothing to change her. Tossed her underpants in the CARPET STORE TINY BATHROOM. Cleaned her up the best I could. Pulled her pants and up. And told SO we needed to double time. Lol.
15 weeks 3 days.
How are you feeling?
I was feeling really good today, except for being starving. But then I got a headache, so okay.
Rants/Raves:
I had the brilliant idea to watch What to Expect When You're Expecting, so now I'm sitting on the couch crying every time anyone in the movie feels any emotion whatsoever. I'm an idiot.
Questions?
I also want to know about the pacifier. Although at this point, I have to admit that we haven't actually tried anything yet. I'm still struggling with the idea of taking away something he loves so much.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
DS is a shockingly obedient kid, so normally all we have to do tell him to stay out of something and he does. It turns out that his one weakness is lotion. DH took a shower on Saturday while DS just played in the bathroom. He found a mini tube of lotion and managed to get it open and smear it all over his face and in his hair. It was way more cute than horrifying, but I'm still glad I was gone and didn't have to clean it up.
@ecwk I had a meltdown and cried in front of DS last week, too. I think it scared him a lot, but he just asked for cuddles and climbed up into my lap, and we both calmed down pretty quick. I like to think it's helpful for kids to know that everyone has feelings and everyone gets sad, even Mom and Dad.
@redheadbride15 We do really well with reminding DS that it hurts mommy and makes her sad when he hits her. That's probably not new advice, but I was surprised by how well it worked. Then again, like I said, DS just wants to be good (he tells all the other kids the rules at daycare), so that helps a lot.

How far along are you? How big is baby?
18 weeks today (yikes), no clue how big baby is.
How are you feeling?
Better. Just hungry a lot and still a bit nauseated sometimes if I eat the wrong thing. I just never know what the wrong thing will be until I eat it.
Rants/Raves?
I cannot sleep past 5:30. I wake up and all I can think about is a really cold smoothie. So I get up and make that and right when I feel like I could go back to sleep, DS is getting up. It’s so annoying!
Questions?
I cant think of any.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
My son (2.5) is constantly kissing and stroking my belly and nicely saying, “baby.” It’s so sweet
The 2.5/3 year old attitude is out of Control. It’s good that he’s cute and sweet a lot of the time because when he’s not cute and sweet, he’s REALLY not cute and sweet.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 14 weeks today-- Bump tells me it's peach-sized.
How are you feeling? Been feeling not so great the last few weeks.Just sluggish and worn down, but I am going to attribute that to craziness at work at working extra hours, etc. I hope. I thought second trimester was when it got easier anyway!
Rants/Raves? Rant: I've been lurking here a lot lately because all the troll posts and people responding to them have been such a turn-off. I just wish they would get ignored and deleted. Seeing them as the first thing when I come to the boards because of all the responses has made me bounce right off of here lately.
Questions? Has anyone not told their work yet? When are you planning to tell them? Pregnancy #1 I told them around 15 weeks, but I'm potentially up for a promotion with my new (less than 2 months) boss so I am trying to hold off as long as possible to not jeopardize that.
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently? DS is almost 16 months and climbing everything (he is a terror). We have a pretty high bed in our bedroom and I was getting ready for work and usually let him wander around upstairs with me since everything is gated off. It got too quiet and I peeked out from our bathroom and he had managed to climb onto our bed (a feat in itself), scale the headboard and was standing on the windowsill of the window above our bed, peering out. And none of the pets thought this was an issue. Thank god if he fell it would have been onto our bed. Terrifying!
Anyone have any easy recipes that an almost two year old could help me make? I don't mind making a bit of a mess, but he is interested in it and likes helping those random times I find something safe for him to do!
How are you feeling? Headaches are a killer. I've also had a cough for about 2 weeks now. Things have been better :-/
Rants/Raves? I wish I could go to sleep for a couple weeks, recover from this never-ending head cold and cough and re-emerge as my normal healthy self.
Questions? Really going back and forth on room sharing or creating a second nursery. Any thoughts or opinions or experiences would be welcome!
GTKY: (Stolen from June 18) What is something cute or horrifying your child(ren) has/have done recently?
Cute: So many hugs and kisses.
Horrifying: The throwing of the food is out of control. Recently, DS looked directly at me while I was trying to talk to him about not throwing food and, without breaking eye contact, he flung the food off his fork and DH took a direct hit in the face. I belly laughed so hard and the teaching-moment was completely lost.
DS: Born 5-17-16
I was dreading it, also and it was seriously the biggest non-issue ever. Like not even a blip. DS only had it for sleeping, though. I guess my advice would be to first limit it to sleeping as a "stage 1" step, and then cut it out completely as kind of the "stage 2" step in the process. But I have also read that going cold turkey is the best way, also.

Base:
2 bananas mushed up
1 cup oats (sometimes I add more to get he consistency I like)
From there you can mix in what ever. Mom my like blueberries, I like peanut butter and chocolate.
Once everything is mixed in you bake it at 350 for 12 min.
It's a goodaful Facebook video recipe:
