This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

FET on 3/7!!!!
How are things going?:
Things are going good. I have another lining check tomorrow (last one was on Friday and my lining measured 8.3mm) and then I will start PIO on Friday with one more US before my transfer next week. Getting so close!!!
Any questions?:
nope
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why?
i love the Fall. I like the smell in the air and the weather. I also like how the holidays are approaching. I got married on a perfect fall day in September and I will always love that season! But of course I’m looking forward to warmer weather now as I’m not a winter person!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): femara and naked wrestling
How are things going?: good! Gonna keep naked wrestling but got a peak opk yesterday! First one EVER!!! Also slight temp increase today so we'll see how it pans out.
Any questions?: not atm
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? I love springtime when things are juat starting to warm up and get fresh and new. Also love fall time when the leaves change.

Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI - Low Count
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFFET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Mock FET cycle - basically everything but the transfer
How are things going?: Ok so far, estrace sucks a big D, but I'm feeling better and better as the days go on so hopefully after another few days on it, I can feel back to myself. I'm just super ready for my actual FET cycle. I totally get the mock cycle and appreciate that we're doing it, but I feel like the pills and soon to be PIO shots are going to suck even more because it's for "nothing" at the moment. I got my PIO delivered on Friday and holy shit those needles. I facetimed my nurse sister and she was even like hooolllyyyyyyy shittttttt that's what you have to use???
Any questions?: Yes actually - PIO ladies. What actually sucks about these shots? The needle bc of the size? The actual medication? I'm fucking terrified about the size of the needle, but is that "all" I need to fear?? I showed my husband the needles and he just started shaking his head no lol
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Fall. I love it. I love everything about it. I love cinnamon and the colors and smells and Halloween is my favorite and the weather. Just gimmie fall!
@50Wife I will let you know about the PIO on Friday! I’m nervous and so is DH since he’s gonna be giving them to me! I heard they cause soreness though and sometimes leave lumps in the skin since it’s oil. I’m glad you will have relief doing the mock cycle but I give you so much credit for taking the meds for a mock. I’m on estrace three times a day and am so over it. Just nauseas and dizzy with no appetite, totally sucks
@lurvleybunchococonuts Woohoo for a peak OPK! Fx for you this cycle!
@50Wife Sorry you have to deal with the drugs without getting to do a transfer, but I think it's so awesome that your doctor is doing a mock cycle to make sure all is well!

Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained, AMA
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): benched this cycle due to travel
How are things going?: Passing the year mark has really been hard for me (as I know it is for all of us!). I'm thinking more about what we'll do if IUI doesn't work for us, and it sucks to have to make decisions about something so important based on money/lack of insurance. We could potentially save up for IVF, but we'd literally be making a decision between having a baby and buying a house. There's no way we can do both on our incomes, and we already have a fair amount of debt we're paying off. Anyway, there's no easy answer here, and I'm really not sure what to do.
Any questions?: I'm thinking of seeing a therapist, because my coping skills have been pretty bad lately. Have any of you seen a therapist to help you deal with IF, and if so, did you see someone who specialized in fertility issues or not?
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Another vote for Fall! Living somewhere where the leaves change color has given me a new appreciation for the season.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I love naked wrestling. That's classic
@50wife EEK! GL with those PIO shots! You can do it!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Nothing. Back to basics
How are things going?: OK. Obviously IUI # 3 failed. So we're taking the next few months off from treatment so I can get my body (and eggs hopefully) in the best position to have a successful IVF. I just sent my RE a massive email with everything, so if/when we get to July we're ready to go. I've already lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks, so I'm hoping that will continue - I'd like to be down AT LEAST another 25 by July.
Any questions?:

@darkstar42 I'm sorry you find yourself trying to decide on what to pay for moving forward. I hate IF for that exact reason! We shouldn't have to put a dollar amount on how far we're willing to go to have a baby...but sometimes you have to and I hate that. Are you pretty set in your job? Can you look around for something that has IF coverage? I signed up for my work's insurance for the IVF coverage, but prior to that, we put out over $10,000 from the IUIs and meds and PGS testing. We have that money in savings, but we're trying to move so that's part of our down payment money so we didn't want to touch it. All of the IF shit has gone on a CC which I also hate. All of this just puts so much stress on you.
@50wife I hope the mock cycle goes smoothly and no new issues pop up
@darkstar42 thanks girl! I was super exciting to get a peak opk (dorky I know) but I was like "omg omg holy crap! So this is how these are suppose to work!" I'm so sorry about the year mark. It is hard. Especially having to decide next steps and make decisions based on lack of insurance/monetary reasons. It sucks and feel ao unfair. Seeing a therapist sounds like a great idea even to just vent
@RVAmom315 good job in the weight loss girl! A mental reset/time off sound like it might be a great plan although my heart is sad that you have to move onto ivf. *hugs*

@beachbunnyxo123 OMG!!! It comes so fast once you are actually in the FET cycle! your lining sounds great already (anything over 8 is gravy!)
darkstar42 the decision is so hard! I have no easy answers, but i do know its really a hard dream to give up on. I know there are ivf grants out there (not just the ones you see on youtube) Ive seen fertility pages on instagram promoting them too... maybe google the subject and some ideas will come up? I think ive been doing ivf for three years at this point, so i know how that one year mark can feel... sending hugs

@darkstar42 I just remembered seeing this on a blog I follow. I don't know where you're located, but there's a blog "A slice of style"...she went through IVF and she's part of some big dinner and they're going to be giving away lots of money for couples to do IVF. It's in Utah and I think she said you have to attend the event to win. I'm pretty sure she recently said on her IG that her RE is giving away a free cycle as part of his contribution.
Here's more info for anyone in or close enough to Utah where this might be worth looking in to **TW**She does have twins from IVF so they're all over the blog and mentioned in this post **End TW**

@darkstar42 Ugh I’m so sorry you have to make this kind of decision between a house and IVF. As for therapy I personally Think it’s awesome you’re considering this. I’m a huge fan and think everyone should be in therapy at one point or another in their lives.

Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA DOR rheumatoid arthritis and Testing for other potential autoimmune and clotting issues
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO (CD2)
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Not enough is what it feels like.
Waiting for results of clotting and autoimmune topics.
Trying to get karotyping done this century.
And supposedly trying on our own.
How are things going?: Time keeps moving forward. I hate feeling so out of control and just want to have a date confirmed for our next cycle.
I had a good day on Friday finding somewhere for local monitoring and getting lots of testing with the haematologist, had a good meeting with my boss, finished the week on a high. Then Saturday felt my normal dizzy spell which comes 24 hours before AF every month and sure enough AF came on Sunday. For some reason it hit me hard this time, harder than the BFN from our IVF cycle last month. So today I worked from home and had a few moments of tears for myself. I also went for my annual checkup with my OBGYN and she thought I was there because we’d been successful, so they had scheduled me during their morning of PG scans. So me and a whole lot of ladies with big bellies. Awesome start to the week, not.
Then I got the news that the first appointment for Karyotyping locally is not until after Easter, with results appointment not before end of April - which would mean waiting until end of May to start IVF. I told DH and he immediately realized this will stress me out as well as reduce our chances so now I’m waiting for a call back from the new clinic to see if they have a space for us next week and we would do a very extravagant day flight just to go and get blood taken.
Short version - moving forward at a snails pace and sometimes going in circles.
Any questions?: How long did it take for Karyotyping results to come through for those who have done it?
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? I’m going autumn too. September/October were the best months when I lived in Beijing. I also loved those months in Montreal, Orlando and even October in Dubai. In north west Europe autumn is also really lovely with all the colors. We now enjoy the last of the sun in the evenings on our terrace in autumn. With a blanket you can sit out for dinner.

Avrilmai glad you have a plan for next cycle if this one isnt the one! Do they plan on doing any more testing ahead of IUI?
emmasemm ugh! I cant believe how hard it is for you to find resources on the ground! that sux! My karyotyping results came back in less than two weeks... it was pretty fast.
@lurvleybunchococonuts, huzzah for that first positive peak OPK! That's awesome!
@50Wife, I'm glad they're doing the mock cycle for you to get everything perfect for the real thing, but I can imagine it is super hard to get motivated about those pills/shots! I guess it's all good practice? Maybe?
@darkstar42, I'm so sorry about the stress and the financial pressures getting you down. That "trying for a possible baby vs saving for a house" decision is brutal. Even though I do have some insurance coverage for IVF, I know all this is still going to take a major chunk out of our down payment savings...and sometimes I do browse Zillow and feel sorry for myself. I think finding a IF therapist could be a great idea, and it's definitely something I've been thinking about recently too. I'll be interested to hear what your experiences are if you decide to pursue it.
@RVAMom315, GL with the weight loss plans! That's awesome that you're already down 10 pounds in 3 weeks! Even though I was frustrated to have to wait two months for the IVF consult appointment, I did feel like the break helped me get in a better place both mentally and physically. I hope the same is true for you!
@dragonette505, I totally agree that fall fashions are the best! I'm sorry the Provera has been rough on you, I'm glad you're almost done with it!
@ndz2018, enjoy your NTNP break! And yay for pumpkin spice love! I feel like it's become so popular to slam pumpkin spice now, but I love it.
@Avrilmai, I hope this cycle is it for you and you don't have to go through the IUI.
@emmasemm, ugh, I'm sorry for the headache with the karyotyping. I'm glad YH understood how important it was to you to try to get it done earlier, FX everything works out so you can still start your IVF cycle when you had planned to.
Diagnosis (if you've been): Low AMH, low sperm count
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): A little more testing next cycle (SIS to check uterine lining) and then IVF in April!
How are things going?: Um, I alternate between excitement and terror. My period is just starting, and something about knowing that this is the start of the last cycle before IVF made it all seem very real and overwhelming. I've been kind of jittery all day. I also know I need to tell my boss pretty soon that I'll be missing some days in April because of IVF, and I'm not super excited about that. I expect her to be fairly sympathetic because she battled IF herself, but the timing in terms of what's going on at work is not going to be great. I can't wait, though, and I'm hoping she'll understand that.
Any questions?: Nope!
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? I'm yet another autumn girl who loves her caramel apple cider, pumpkin patch outings, and sweater weather!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #1 this cycle
How are things going?: had my cd3 appt today and everything looked good. I do have to say, being on these medicated cycles makes time go by so much faster. Going in next Tuesday on cd already, and if it’s like the other time then I’ll trigger than Night (when during my normal cycle I don’t even bring out the opks til cd 15 and that’s early).
Any questions?: has anyone been prescribed something for low estrogen or thin lining? If so, when? Both were low at my cd11 appt during my TI cycle and they said to mention it when I started my first IUI cycle. But when I mentioned it today, they sent me a message saying “We will assess your lining at the day 11 scan to evaluate the need for additional estrogen support.”. I just don’t want that to be too late
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? does football season count? No? Then summer because I get a break from work!
Diagnosis (if you've been): Secondary IF - unexplained so far
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF (still - CD 48 currently)
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Once I’m back home I’m going to make an apt with my doctor to get my U/S results because obviously something is going on and super messing with my cycles - I haven’t ever had a 48 day cycle that I can remember and while I suspect travel may have affected it somewhat this is getting ridiculous. Still haven’t been able to do my BW because my next cycle won’t start but DH did schedule his SA for next week so making some progress.
How are things going?: Ok - super frustrated with being so late for AF which is delaying BW and possible answers. But thankful at this point that AF hasn’t come while I’ve been away so I should be home for CD3 and actually be able to get in on time.
Any questions?: Not at the moment.
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Another vote for fall - the weather is still pretty decent, the colours are amazing, the summer heat is gone (I hate hot weather), and all the yummy fall flavours come out!

Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained, AMA

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I just had my first IUI yesterday. 14 days until I can test, and I really don't want to test early and get a false positive, so I'm not even going to buy any until then. That's the plan, anyway.
How are things going?: Yesterday was an intense, long process, much more than I anticipated. After being reminded of the very real risk of multiples on Sunday at my Day 13 scan, MH and I kind of started freaking out. At the same time, probability wise, it's more likely this doesn't work than that we get pregnant with multiples, so there's that. Then, I have a large fibroid blocking my cervix, so it always takes multiple people a long time to find it. Two different nurses insisted on trying before finally calling in the doctor. Plus, they kept bringing in increasingly large speculum. We were exhausted after the process and just relaxed last night.
Any questions?:

purplg8r Yay for your IUI... I agree that medicated cycles can be faster... you actually feel like you are doing and accomplishing something. Ive had thin lining mentioned to me because i tend to have a thinner lining on medicated cycles. But because my lining has gotten thick on natural cycles (and was "thick enough" on my FET for transfer...7.5 or 7.6 cant remember) I never got treated for it.

@Augusta108 I told my boss from the start and he was very happy and understanding. If someone had been through this I sure hope they would be sympathetic good luck and hoping everything works out with that!!
@hlb8179 Do they plan on removing that fibroid?
@purplg8r GL and hope everything with your lining cooperates.
@elothair Did they talk about prescribing you anything to get AF moving?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): As soon as AF gets here (due March 10-14ish), I will start the protocol for medicated IUI cycle with Letrozole & Ovidrel trigger. Monkey wrench: We are going to Florida at what looks like it will be 2 weeks into next cycle, so worst case scenario is they can see how my body responds to letrozole, best case scenario is we can squeak an IUI in before we go away. I was hoping to go right to IVF, but insurance requires 2 IUI first.
How are things going?: Mostly ok. Strangely excited but also anxious to finally start TTC for the first time in almost a year. Being benched sucks, and being in limbo sucks. So while our circumstances aren't ideal at least we have a plan and can finally get things started! My H has come a loong way from his initial stance on donor sperm not being an option, and I found myself a great IF therapist to help me deal.
Any questions?: Any of my azoo ladies left on here?
GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? I live in New England and I'm a Libra, so FALL ALL DAY
AFM, I called to let the RE know about CD1 and got appointments scheduled--the SIS test will be next Tuesday and (assuming those results are fine), my big IVF baseline appointment will be April 2nd! The nurse said my egg retrieval should be some time between April 19th-May 2nd. Having the dates makes it all feel so real!
The only kind of weird thing is that the nurse originally said I should start birth control tomorrow. I said I was surprised by that because the RE had said he didn't want me on it very long because of my low AMH. She immediately asked how long my cycle normally is and said that then it would be fine to wait to start it until my next period. I found it kind of unsettling that she switched so easily from 5 weeks to 1 week of birth control before the baseline appointment! There wasn't even a pause while she looked at my file...Hmmmmmm.

@hlb8179 I’m sorry yesterday didn’t go so well! That sounded rough.
@leilee101 FX that the timing works out perfectly for you. What part of FL are you going to?
@Augusta108 hmm. That is interesting. Could you send an email to double check?
@hlb8179 I freaked out about multiples after my first cycle too. How many follies did you have?
@kristokekerooni I've been thinking about you today!!! I hope everything went well!
@Augusta108 I hated being in BCP! Seems strange to me too. When we did our ER I got AF and started... however they were going to put me on BCP only because we were waiting you for insurance approval for ICSI but AF was super late so it all kinda worked out and I didn’t have to go on BCP but i did have to go on it the following month waiting for surgery. Maybe call or email your nurse and ask why they want to put you in BCP to delay your ER? And why you cant just go into it when you get AF?
@Augusta108 What I hear you concerned about is how easily the nurse went from 5 weeks to 1 week on BCP- that it seemed strange she had confidence in what you said rather than checking with the doctor or your chart. FX it all works out.
