This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): triggered last night
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI w/ injectables. IUI tomorrow!
How are things going?: I have a strong suspicion I will O before IUI tomorrow. They don’t do an u/s day of IUI, so idk what to do. My lining was only 7.4 Friday, so there’s that, too. We will be moving into IVF if this isn’t our cycle. I had that discussion with my boss today. Awkward. I don’t have enough time off built up to cover it & I don’t qualify for FMLA until July.
Any questions?: Not right now
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Julia Roberts!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW (8dpiui)
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We did an IUI last week Sunday
How are things going?: OK. It's funny, because I'm really focusing on working on my eating habits and working out, that I "forgot" I did an IUI. It's been a nice distraction. I've been trying out new recipes which has been fun. Thinking about testing Friday, but not sure yet if I'll just wait to see if I get AF.
Any questions?:

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET #1! I have a lining check on Wednesday and then our FET is tentatively scheduled for next Friday.
How are things going?: It's weird right now. I have this odd mixture of like, still dealing with the IF jealousy and bitterness, where I had my BFF's daughter's first birthday yesterday and was completely surrounded with kids. It hit me super hard. But then other days I am super at peace and like, happy to be where I am. It's rough.
Any questions?: I hear conflicting ideas about sex around FET. Some say the semen is good for you and it can make your body more receptive, some say no, because you don't want to contract at all. What do you all think? I mean, I know either way it probably doesn't matter... but? Also, how long do the vaginal pills last? Estradiol and endometrin? Because one of the meds I am on (not sure which) makes me really, erm, excited about my H. Except it's not very fun when my vag resembles that of a smurf. And sex also doesn't feel complete without some downtown action, but I don't think anyone needs a mouthful of estrogen... Was that TMI? Probably. But ya'll. NEED.
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Ohhhh.... Hmmm. I would have to think about that.

@Avrilmai I’m with you we are on our own this cycle too. I’m kinda glad I’m taking this month off to press the reset button.
@rallykat14 OMG YAY!! Keep us updated!!
@lurvleybunchococonuts There's been a few including buffalo chicken chili, egg roll bowls, salsa chicken with beans and corn, piccadillo, mini quiches - most of it is in the slow cooker which is super easy (still learning how to use the Instant Pot!) and I serve a lot of them over cauliflower rice
@avrilmai I needed to do something, I was driving myself crazy with the TTC obsessiveness
@ndz2018 I don't have a beta, just call if I get a +HPT. AF would be expected Sunday, so we'll see...
@KristoKekerooni I don't think those feelings will ever go away, and it sucks. It sucks so hard what IF turns us into. I know of women who had SAIF who still have feelings towards women who get pregnant easily. Of course we don't wish IF on anyone, but it'd be nice for them to know the struggle. I'm so excited that your FET is right around the corner!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Tried on our own. Cycle is wonky with no signs lining up.
How are things going?: Meh. I think this cycle is already a bust, just hoping AF doesn’t come before the weekend as that starts to line up the next cycle as well as I can hope to try and start with the new RE end of March.
Still dealing with legal issues (two of them now, neither caused by us), trying to get all the extra testing done, find someone for local monitoring, work is crazy and trying to make progress on my thesis.
Though at least my professor was happy with my approach and progress on the thesis today. I then decided to share with her our IF situation (I heard she’d done IVF to get her kid) and she offered to give me a one month extension in case we get more bad news etc in the next weeks. She said even with “just” the failed cycles already during my MBA program this would be sufficient grounds for her to extend. However at the moment I said I want to power through and get it done so I can have one less demand on me when we start cycling again.
However sorry when I’m not the most active at the moment. With a wonky trying on our own cycle and all the other stuff I’m typically just love titting and throwing in the odd comment.
Any questions?: Magic Wand anyone?
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Can I go for a young Tatum O’Neil? She did pretty well filming the riding scenes for International Velvet many moons ago.
@jrm_14 I really hope you haven’t Od. And I think you know my recommendation - I don’t see any reason why they can’t do an US before the IUI. It takes 2 minutes. They do an US before and after embryo transfer. If you’re inserting a straw with an embryo or sperm makes no big difference. So I suggest you “politely insist” on an US.
@rvamom315 good you’ve been well distracted during the first week. Do you have a beta planned too?
@rallykat14 omg!!!!! I hope you get six freaking awesome eggs that have the best party ever with your DHs sperm tonight!
@kristokekerooni oh wow you’re so close! And regarding the sexy stuff, well before transfer my RE was ok for me to do whatever I felt like. But after I was on two weeks of “pelvic rest”, and both clinics I got second opinions from said the same. Also DH was super keen, but after he saw what the crinone was doing down there he was ok to do other stuff for a few weeks. It was a bit like being teenagers again!
@lurvleybunchococonuts hope the letrozole works for you this time!
@avrilmai what is it with bodies not cooperating?
@ndz2018 exactly, you never know - always worth a try!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): most likely benched due to travel during fw
How are things going?: Not great. Yesterday was cd 1 of cycle 13. Passing the year mark has been really rough. I really had my fingers crossed that this last month would finally be it, but no such luck. I'm traveling during my next fw, so we're pretty much benched this month. Trying to decide if we should do another medicated IUI after this cycle, or try on our own for one more first. MH can't get the penetration assay done until the end of March, so the question is really whether we want to wait for the results of that or not. The assay results obviously won't change the IUI protocol, but if the results are bad we might not bother with another IUI. I'm really not sure what to do, and any thoughts are welcome. Also, I found out another co-worker went through IVF to conceive her kids, so out of the seven women in our department, four including me have dealt with IF in some form or another.
Any questions?: See above re: waiting for penetration assay results before another IUI or not.
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Hmmm... perhaps Liv Tyler.
@jrm_14 Fx for your IUI tomorrow! Hopefully your O timing works out. Did the RE say they’d do an u/s to check? You could also ask them to check your progesterone levels the morning of the IUI.
@RVAmom315 That’s so great that you’ve been able to distract yourself with such good habits! My distractions/coping mechanisms aren’t nearly so healthy.
@rallykat14 Woohoo! Hope all goes well with your donor!
@KristoKekerooni Wow, that FET is coming up so soon! I’m so excited for you!
@lurvleybunchococonuts Do a google image search for “ovary ornaments.” You won’t be disappointed.
@Avrilmai What a pain to have to wait another cycle because of timing! *hugs*
@ndz2018 I used prometrium during the lp after my IUIs, and I would get AF two days after stopping, but your situation might be different.

@jrm_14, I will think good thoughts for you tomorrow! I hope you're wrong about ovulating ahead of time, that would be so frustrating. I'm glad you had the dreaded chat with your boss, though sorry you're in such a rough position with leave. Was your boss at all sympathetic?

@KristoKekerooni, I hope everything goes great with the lining check on Wednesday. I'm so excited for you that you're getting so close to your FET date!
@lurvleybunchococonuts, GL with the letrozole, I hope it does the trick!
@Avrilmai, I'm sorry about your IUI plans getting canceled and that you're feeling down, I know it's really hard to have to wait due to things outside your control. Katharine Hepburn was my first thought for the GTKY too. I don't know that she would be a terribly accurate portrayal of me, but it would be pretty awesome!
@ndz2018, yeah, you never know what could happen! We've been continuing to take our shot every cycle even though the odds are definitely against this happening spontaneously for us. Better to keep hope alive when you can, I think.
@emmasemm, I am completely in awe of you for making progress on your thesis while all this is going on. I'm glad your professor understands some of what you're going through and is sympathetic, though I understand your wanting to get the thesis done so you can have one less stressful thing going on!
@darkstar42, I'm sorry about the year mark, it was definitely rough for me too. That's too bad that they can't get your husband in sooner for his part of the testing, especially since it's going to force you to make a tough call about doing the IUI before then or not. I think one of the roughest parts of IF is how rarely there's a clear-cut "right" thing to do...
@emmasemm Kudos to you for pushing to get your thesis done in the shorter timeframe! But I'm glad you have some leeway on that. You are such an inspiration with everything you have going on. I would be a shivering overwhelmed lump in the corner by now. Get it girl!
@Augusta108 Yay, I hope your consult goes wonderfully, provides insight and a workable plan on moving forward.

@darkstar42 I wish I had the words that would you’d make your heart hurt less. I wish everyone on this thread had the one thing that would help them move forward from IVF. Those date marks are tough. What are you doing to feel the feels, acknowledge the hurt, & take care of yourself? All the hugs.

@Augusta108 GL with your consult today!
So last night AF picked up... I’m offically off the bench!
@jrm_14 Good luck today!! I hope this one is it for you and that you were able to get the perfect timing.
@rallykat14 Yasssss!!!! Can't wait to hear about your report today! FX for amazing numbers!!!
@KristoKekerooni eek things are moving along nicely for you!!! I lol'd at your sex issues. How many times a day are you using suppositories? We'd do what we need to do prior to my progesterone, but I was only using once a day, at night so it worked out! Otherwise I feel like that shit lingers, for real.
@lurvleybunchococonuts GL this cycle, how are your OPKs looking so far??
@Avrilmai Ugh, I totally understand cancelling bc of the timing, but it still totally sucks to know that you have to wait another month. Also, I didn't temp during my medicated cycles - looking back I wish I would have so I had a better idea of things, but I think the meds could have thrown off my temps so I didn't bother.
@ndz2018 Good luck this cycle!!
@emmasemm Wow you're getting shit done!!! That's great about your thesis and I'm glad your professor is willing to help if needed! I'm sure it feels good to have that option.
@darkstar42 I'm sorry that you've passed the 1 year mark. It definitely stings the more and more you see the months just tick by. Also, you're totally OOP for the IUIs right? Part of me thinks you should wait for your husband's additional testing prior to moving forward, but then the other piece of me is thinking fuck it...keep on trucking. I don't think either way you'd decide to go would be a bad choice bc I could totally see going either way. Good luck!
@Augusta108 Woot!!! I hope your appt goes well!!!!! Can't wait to hear about it.
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI - low count.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): IVF Mock Cycle
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): So since we only have one little frozen embryo waiting for us, my doctor wants to do a mock cycle. So I start estrace today and I'll go back 2/28 for a lining check. Probably start PIO early March and a biopsy of my lining mid March. As long as everything looks good this cycle then we'll move forward with a FET in approx 7 weeks or so.
How are things going?: I was shitty for a while since we only had 1 make it through all of this, but I'm really hoping this little babe is our fighter and was meant to be our baby. I was upset at the thought of a mock cycle at first, because c'mon I just want to get things moving already. BUT I totally get it. Our doc said he sees about a 70% success rate with a normal PGS tested embryo and now doing the mock cycle, that should give us even better chances of this babe getting nice and comfy. So I'm ok with it. I'm excited but I'm so so anxious. I just cried all day yesterday after my appt for no reason. It's just all so overwhelming and think we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel (or so I'm hoping) and it just all hit me.
Any questions?:
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Hmmmmm good, good question and I've got no one in mind! lol I'll see if I can think of something!
RVAmom315 oh man! how can you wait till Friday to test???? Id be testing every day post trigger!! lol
allykat14 Congrats!!!
KristoKekerooni we used condoms with sex around FET because we didnt want any leftover hormones from the suppositories to impact my DH. Not sure how progesterone impacts men but even for his own health we didnt want him to absorb any.

darkstar42 Is your plan to just stick with the IUI's? If so I guess I would consider just waiting for the testing... if it might mean the IUI is a waste of money you could spend on a different treatment, id rather know.
Augusta108 so glad its time for your consult! Now you can get the ball rolling!
50Wife I love the approach of doing the mock cycle! it makes sense to be super conservative with your little frostie! They can rule out other possible issues (which i wish my first two clinics had done instead of just now after losing two embies). Finding out i had a septum meant no embies of any quality would make it. what a big difference this wouldve made 3 years ago....
Diagnosis (if you've been): OLD
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF/TTA
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Treatment: Had uterine septum removal surgery and currently on a hormone treatment cycle (estrogen to prevent scarring and thicken lining and provera to induce AF/withdrawal bleed)
How are things going?: Fine... yesterday was first day of provera and i had a huge headache, but my body seems to be handling it better today!
Any questions?: nope
GTKY: Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? no idea! lol
I hope you're feeling much better from your meds today!! I hate how all of this crap makes us feel. Once AF shows, are you guys ready to move forward or are you waiting on any other procedures/testing?
@50wife I know the delay sucks, but if it means that little cutie pie is going to snuggle in for the ride, I say go for it!

rallykat14 OMG! congrats!! 4 is awesome! keeping my fingers crossed for the others to catch up!
@dragonette505 WARNING AF is a bitch when you get it! Like this is not my normal AF! And super crampy, I ate 3 Motrin at 8am and I’m still in pain.
@dragonette505 Ah I gotcha now. I did test out a trigger on my first IUI but it was so sad when it went away and didn't come back so I won't do that again. Honestly I haven't tested in about 3-4 cycles because it was too hard seeing that stark white test. They gave me 10K Pregnyl. If I do test I want to make sure it's time enough for the real thing!

@50wife opks are big ole negatives so far, but only 2 days into them. Was told to do opks and get naked eod from CD 9-20. Today's cd10. Splurged and got some clearblue digi opks (cause the more you spend on opks the more likely you are to magically get ku... right?) and also doing cheapies so I'm peeing on EVERYTHING. I'm so glad you're feeling better about your mock cycle. Anything to give you the best chances. I'm praying that little fighter is all you need
@dragonette505 lmao... "trying in the wild"
@rallykat14 four is great! Crossing everything the other two pick up the pace and make it to the deep freeze

@RVAmom315 Thanks! I know it's best and I'm going to do it...but that doesn't mean I won't complain while doing it (mostly to the hubs)! lol
@rallykat14 Yaaaaaaasssssssssss!!!! I hope you get good news on those last two!
@ndz2018 Wahooo!! I'm ready for April to be here, like ...now! I was on progesterone for the past 10 days and I started it right at the end of AF so the IVF coordinator says yesterday "oh you won't be getting your period anytime soon" Well, guess who showed this morning! So I'm glad my body seems to be cooperating and trying to move things right along for me. I got AF quicker than they expected after my retrieval too so I'm hoping my body continues to cooperate and handles things nicely during this mock cycle so I'm ready to rock and roll in April!
@dragonette505 hope AF isn’t too rough when she comes
@rvamom315 I am also a crazy who tests out the trigger just to make absolutely sure there is no risk of getting a line from the trigger. However none of my trigger lines ever lasted more than 5 days post trigger. So either my body eats HCG for breakfast. But anyhow I would think if you only had one trigger shot 11 days ago it should be clear normally... but I also wouldn’t test now if I hadn’t tested out the trigger.
@50wife there is an increasing amount of literature on ERA and EFT which biopsy the uterine lining after 5 days of progesterone in a mock cycle and test for receptivity or other molecular lining issues. I would suggest you ask them which one they are doing as they do test different things. And if you’re interested there is a very short and easy to digest podcast from “Fertility Talk with RSC NJ” from August last year talking about ERA. And one on “creating a family” from December 2016 on “endometrial receptivity and endometrial scratching”.
The RSCNJ one specifically says that ERA is recommended for women with very few embryos (in addition to those with RPL and repeated IVF implantation failure).
So I would say your RE is absolutely right to do this to give your embie the best possible chance.

@rallykat14 Come in little 2, join the party! Congratulations on 4 fertilizing!!!!
@dragonette505 Hopefully the headaches subside. How many days of Provera are you completing?
@50wife Good for your doctor for taking those extra steps. It sucks when you think about the “lost” time on this end, yet it sounds like you’ve reconciled it with the results on the other side.
Anyone at their RE right now?

RVAmom315 yeah, i saw where you said you dont have a beta scheduled? So i guess you could just wait till what would normally be your beta day and test (since that should be legit). I agree with @emmasemm that if you test now you might feel conflicted. My problem with my FET (tw ended in mc) was that i never got a negative. Basically by the time the trigger was gone, i was making my own HCG. BUT, the way to really know is a CBE digi. I took a CBE digi day before beta and it was negative, then day of beta, +. I knew by then a digi wouldnt be picking up the scraps of my trigger (especially after a neg the day before )
@lurvleybunchococonuts Im not so bad today, but yesterday i was rekd! Couldnt wear contacts because my head was so bad. No issues today (just a very mild headache, but nothing to complain about). Ive not taken letrozole before, but ive heard lots of ppl say it made them feel bad.
50Wife once you get into the swing of IVF, it totally feel bizarre to not use protection (cause who wants to have unprotected sex when you are developing 18-19 eggs???? eeek!) I'm so hoping im lucky like you and @ndz2018 and get my AF super fast... knowing me though
