    15+4 today

    How are you feeling?
Tired more than anything. I think the morning sickness is finally easing up, but the real test will be when I go back to the middle school on Wed.

    Rants/Raves
DS & DH are both sick. DH insisted on going to work, but his boss sent him home. This was after he practically collapsed in the bathroom this morning. Now he’s sleeping. Meanwhile DS woke up fever-free, but I’m keeping home just in case. I’m so tired of DH being sick. I understand that he’s legitimately sick this time, but I feel like I’m taking care of two kids by myself. Meanwhile I’m hoping I don’t get whatever they have because I’ll have to fight through it while still taking care of DS & DH.

    Questions
I’ll be calling my OB to check, but is sudafed PE the same as plain sudafed? My OB listed plain sudafed as ok to take after first tri, but all I can find at the store is sudafed PE.

    GTKY
I’d want a maid, specifically a maid that does laundry. I like to cook, DS is fairly self-sufficient at 7yo, and I don’t mind doing the grocery shopping. But laundry has always been my nemesis.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 12w3d - plum

How are you feeling? Physically I'm doing okay. RLP/cramping, mild back pain, but all manageable at this point. I need to get back to my nightly walks on my treadmill though. I think staying active will help this time around since I was super lazy with DS!

    Rants/Raves:
Rants - our washing machine took a crap yesterday. We used Google to troubshoot the error code, but nothing worked. The next suggestion was a ~$200 part. We searched our serial number and the unit is from 2006 (came with the house when we bought it last summer). Considering I can get a brand new one for a few hundred dollars more, not sure it is worth the part. So now we may be buying a new one. Ugh. Joys of home ownership! I hate spending the money on this stuff :(
Raves - It's a Monday and I'm at work. I got nothing! ha.

Questions: How long did your NIPT results take? I know it varies - I got my blood drawn for Panorama, through Natera, on Thursday 2/15. They said 7-10 days, but I wasn't sure if that included weekends, too? I just feel like I will be able to breathe a sigh of relief when I get the results. I'm also anxious to know the sex!

GTKY: Maid for sure! I hate cleaning and I always think of all the other things I could be doing when I'm scrubbing away.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
    14w 5d

    How are you feeling?
Meh. Nausea is getting better so that's nice, but heartburn is ramping up and I now have a constant cough.

    Rants/Raves
I'm boring this week. Nothing going on except doing some research for a new car.  Stressful.

    Questions
I'm struggling with what to feed DD. She's 13 months and just recently started eating table food.  We always try to give her what we're having, but of course, she won't really eat it.  What do you feed your kids for dinner at this age?  She refuses everything that's typical "baby food" so no purees, none of the gerber packaged meals.  I am at a complete loss for how to get this kid to eat vegetables.  The only thing she even remotely ate was squash, and I'm pretty sure that was because I roasted it in maple syrup.  Help.

    GTKY
We have a cleaning lady already (hallelujah, that is the best money we've ever spent!!!) so next on my list would be a personal chef.  I actually really like to cook and bake, but I feel like I have no time so now it's a chore.  Also, said chef could help me figure out what to feed my baby who won't eat vegetables.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby?

15w 2d, I think the bumb app said baby was the size of a deck of cards today

    How are you feeling?

I get random spurts of energy but mostly I'm just tired.

    Rants/Raves

DS is officially walking!!! We still need to encourage him because he's faster at crawling so that's his preferred mode of travel but it's so cool seeing him to from sitting on the ground to standing/walking :)

    Questions

None that I can think of right now.

    GTKY
Definitely a maid. I feel like I spend all my free time cleaning.

@juliebird6 we mix baby food veggies into his yogurt because he seriously loves yogurt and as long as it tastes sweet he'll eat it.

We've also had good luck mixing veggies in with muffins and doing the pouches that are mixed fruit and veggies.
  • @melprop I would check the ingredients, but I think it might have ibuprofen in it, so that would be a no go.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 14+6 Baby is a peach

How are you feeling? My sciatica is super bad. Having to run around after DS and picking him up off the ground because he wouldn’t hold hands in the parking lot probably didn’t help. I’m going to call my OB and see what they recommend, although I kind of doubt they will tell me anything other than take Tylenol and take it easy. May try for another chiropractor appointment this week, too.

Rants/Raves: Told all our family #2 is a boy!

    Questions -

    GTKY Definitely a maid

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?  13w3d Baby is the size of a matchbox car

How are you feeling? Mostly fine, I really can't complain.

    Rants/Raves
Rant: We still don't even have a list of names that we like.  Drawing blanks completely.  I realize I have 6m, but since we have everything for the baby this is the only place for me to focus my need to plan and I'm failing miserably.
Rave: DS is just in a super fun stage right now.  He wants to be outside running up and down the driveway with his little "ba" (ball) all day long.  He's eating good, sleeping good, thank you son

    Question/Rant 2 I guess:
I feel huge this time.  Like I'm hanging out in maternity pants and bras that I wore at the END of my pregnancy last time.  I walked about 7 miles this weekend, I swear I'm trying to stay active when I have time.  But dang body.  We don't need to go right back to full 9M look immediately.  Anyone else feeling this?

GTKY - Definitely a maid.  Someone I could trust that could come in when we aren't home.  We have cleaners but I still hesitate to let them in the house when I'm not there.  And having them there when I'm home feels annoying too.  First world problems I know.
My need to be #1 in my kids life has me skeptical that I would like a nanny being with my kids all day.
    Cooking isn't that hard.
And why would I ever want to give up shopping?

  • @melprop ask your pharmacist... it might be behind the counter

How are you feeling? Eh. The morning sickness is giving way to heartburn. I need to call my mw for rx. I’m getting headaches too which are pretty debilitating and make me feel terrible.

Rants/Raves see above rants lol. Also I’m ready for a belly pop already. I feel shlubby and still is she or isn’t she, don’t think I’ve grown in like 6w.
    Rave: occasional flutters love!!

    Questions nope

    GTKY

no question a maid! I love shopping why would I need that, I enjoy cooking too. And if I wasn’t constantly picking up shit I’d have more time to read etc with my kids

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 14w3d, size of a peach. Also, as tall as a crayon, apparently.

How are you feeling? I definitely felt bad yesterday, like I was back in the early first trimester. But today I am just TIRED. Probably from the Unisom. I need to kick that habit but I don't sleep without it.

    Rants/Raves Not much, really.

    Questions Nothing at the moment.

GTKY  A maid. I don't mind doing the other stuff. I mostly do curbside pickup for groceries and don't shop much apart from online. My husband is the chef, lol. I don't yet feel the need for a nanny, maybe I can revisit this question after this baby arrives. Haha!

@lolog531 our 5-year-old washer took a crap last spring and we bought a new one as well. We think it got zapped in a storm. Ridiculous because these things used to last longer. Our last house, though brand new, was built in an area with shit infrastructure so we lost power ALL the time and I'm sure that's what happened but ugh, so freaking annoying! I fixed our dryer (now 6 years old lol) at like 6w pregnant using YouTube!
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 14w3d, baby is the size of an 8oz filet apparently. That only makes me want steak.

How are you feeling? Super tired but I haven't been sleeping well, too much on my mind. Once I fall asleep I'm fine but it's getting to that point that's been rough.

Rants/Raves I only have a rant which is more just sad but I finally told my dad this weekend and let's just say he's being less than supportive. He tried to make me promise him I would make an appointment this week to "take care of my problem." So now I have both of my parents against this pregnancy and teaming up on me and I feel helpless.

GTKY At this point I would say a nanny so I could move out of my parent's house and not have to worry about who would help me with the boys. Life is hard, y'all.

Thanks love, me too. I don't really know what I'm going to do if they don't. I'm not "taking care of my problem" so they're either going to have to deal or kick me out but I can't see them doing that because they're obsessed with my kids.

  • @juliebird6 We have had luck mixing the veggies into E’s Mac and cheese. We also really cut down on the kids snacking 2 hrs before dinner so she is always hungry then.

@calimom2524 I’m sorry that your dad is such a jerk. Is there anything you can be doing to get out of their house, so you don’t have to hear it?

How far along are you? How big is baby?

    16W am avacado

    How are you feeling?

Not bad. Pretty even keel over here.

    Rants/Raves

H just told me today that he never called on the local CDL job I got him info for a week ago. Like he didn’t care to seriously job hunt as ‘work isn’t THAT bad right now.’ So today he asks if I think he should call on it. Like that guy is going to want to hire someone who can’t make up his damn mind about finding a new job or not. FML.

Otherwise in the raves sections, L hasn’t had an ear infection in 7 months!!!!!! He was on antibiotics for 3 months after getting tubes in. I’m so happy he can now hear, and is starting to catch up language wise!

    Questions

    Nope.

    GTKY

Maid. Easiest choice ever. With H potentially going on the road, and 2u3 I never have time after work to do anything but survive until bedtime. I am planning/hoping to be able and get my freezer&crockpot meals going again, so just a couple hours a month with a sitter and I should be back on track.

How are you feeling? Not too bad except for the insomnia. My sugars have been all over the place so I'm testing like 14 times a day now and my fingers are kind of mad at me for it

Rants/Raves: We built DS "Mount Baby Monster" this weekend, basically all the sofa cushions stacked in a crazy tower for him to climb up and over and hide under and he had a blast. I wanted so badly to take him to the playground yesterday but since we had snow the day before the whole area was a muddy mess. Boo.
DSS is going through the worst boundary-pushing phase yet and he's driving me bonkers. No respect for the rules in our house like bedtime or for boundaries, it's exhausting to have to keep having the same conversations over and over but I don't really know what else to do. I'm big on the punishment fitting the crime and don't really know what an appropriate punishment would be for being a pre-teen lol!

Questions Just every question under the sun about going from 1 little to 2.

GTKY  I would love a nanny for the babies. But like Mary Poppins-type.

@juliebird6 - DS pretty much lived on chopped up spaghetti from 1 year to about 14 months. I would over cook the noodles slightly so they were softer and cook down some diced bell peppers or spinach in the sauce then run it through the food processor on pulse a few times. It's not a puree, and easy for them to grab and feed themselves little bits. Plus veggies. And you can make a big batch and it f will hold up in the fridge for a while. I would rotate between ground beef and ground turkey / chicken in the sauce or just leave it all veggie

@juliebird6 we went through these phases too where I was so frustrated trying to feed him.  It gets better!
DS (15M) favorite food is ravioli so I buy them from costco with either the chicken or the spinach in them to get some meat & veggies too.  He'll also eat potstickers, little frozen pizzas, meatballs (cut up tiny), mac & cheese with veggies mixed in (cream corn or butternut squash).  Spinach is his favorite veggie and easiest to mix in things so I stick some spinach in everything.

For lunch he likes PB&J, grilled cheese.  He'll eat yogurt and cottage cheese.  Fruit is good (grapes, blueberries, small pieces of oranges).
Breakfast- banana pancakes, scrambled egg with spinach & cheese, waffle with peanut butter

@calimom2524 Sorry your parents aren't being supportive.
  • @mrsbubbles-2 spaghetti is on our menu this week, so we'll see how it goes!
  • @livinthesunnylife great ideas! DD will eat some of these things, but I haven't tried ravioli, potstickers, or pizza.  Will have to add those to our rotation too!
  • @calimom2524 - girl... I wish I had better words. I'm sending you a huge internet hug. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I really really hope they come around soon and realize what a blessing this little baby will be and how much love will be added to your family. You are incredibly strong and you will get through this. All the hugs and support going your way today <3

  • @mrsbubbles-2 My fave punishment for my preteen middle schoolers is taking away electronics. It works wonders for DS too. With DS I usually say none of his TV shows, no tablet or computer, no xbox games, no Netflix, etc. for a week. He’s begging by day 3, and I haven't had to repeat it for the same infraction yet. See if his teachers at school will get on board with it too.
  • @calimom2524 internet hugs to you lady. I’m so sorry your dad isn’t being supportive on top of your mother.

@juliebird6 we also did the spinach and cheese ravioli from Costco and DS loved them! I also made goulash - noodles, tomato sauce, carrots, bell peppers, celery - and he ate it up because it was basically pasta to him.
He will eat fruit all day - clementines, berries, grapes, bananas.
Scrambled eggs, oatmeal or I try and make muffins here and there for a quick breakfast go to.

  • I also have recipe for pea pancakes that people swear by but I keep forgetting to buy more oatmeal so I haven't made it yet.
  • @livinthesunnylife your DS sounds a lot like mine! Or at least mine when he’s not being particularly fussy!!

@calimom2524  big huge hugs to you, love. I’m so very sorry your dad is being an a-hole about it. I’m sure on many levels they are worried about you and your future and the impact a new baby will have on your life but even for us here who don’t really “know” you it’s clear to see that you are a strong and determined woman and that you are happy and confident in your decision. I’m sure they will come around but in the mean time I hope your SO will continue to support you and we are here for you too!!!

    1. I’m 14+4 - baby is a peact

    2. I feel pretty good but the Florida weather has made me realise how not looking forward I am to how uncomfortable I will be when heavily pregnant in the MA summer!

    3. Rants/Raves
guys this is sort of a dumb rant but I’m getting so fat. All those carbs to settle my tummy have not been kind to me. I’m thinking once I get back after this vaca I need to seriously reduce my carb intake. Not full keto like before I got KU but reduced from what it is now!!!

    4. Questions
I am curious to know what are the differences you have experiences between this pregnancy and (the) previous one(s).
For me, the only difference is that I was never ever sick or nauseous  with DS but this time I was nauseous for a few weeks!

    5.
MAID!! Although we are in the process of hiring a cleaner so maybe second choice would be a nanny??

  • @Firemanswife11 we fixed our drier in August right after we moved in with YouTube help and just changing out the circuit breaker! It's been working great ever since, so we aren't replacing that one yet!
What brand did you go with for your washer? We currently have Whirlpool and they seem okay. I've never had to buy brand new and feel like there are way too many choices!

  • @lolog531 we got a Maytag this time. So far so good but the sucker is loud! And in our new house we don't have a designated "laundry room," so it's annoying. But I've read that they are all loud now so who knows.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
15 weeks - size of a navel orange or pack of crayons

    How are you feeling?
Feeling pretty good overall. The pregnancy headaches are rough, but I know to expect one around 11AM every day, so I take a couple preventive Tylenol around 10:45. Tylenol sucks, but it makes me feel better to at least try something.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: pregnancy headaches suck, and my intern is the worst. I seriously feel like it would be less work to not have her here and do everything myself.
Rave: I feel super lucky to have my DH after reading the complaints many of you have. Granted, we both work full-time, so maybe that's part of the reason he's more helpful.. But we also had many conversations pre-DS about how I am not willing to be the 'go-to' parent. I realize that it's very natural, and it happens in most families, but for me it is not okay. We both work full-time, and we split household chores, so there is no reason that I should take on more of the parenting duties. Granted, DH travels quite a bit for work during the first half of the year, so I do end up taking on more, but he also makes a considerable amount more than I do, so I'd rather have him traveling and making $ than being home more and sacrificing budget-wise.

    Questions:
Echoing @mrsbubbles-2 I'm starting to get really nervous about how much harder our lives are about to get.

    GTKY:
Maid hands-down. I don't mind cleaning, but it takes away from the time I can spend with DS. He's on the cusp of being able to help, but it's still a bit like herding cats.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 15 weeks- orange

How are you feeling? Overall okay. I do still have insomnia and wake up with back pain between my shoulder blades though. I bought a pregnancy body pillow, which has reduced my pain by around half.

Rants/Raves I’m debating getting a gym membership so I can start swimming again, but don’t know when I’d actually get to go. I tend to walk pup/work out at home but love swimming when pregnant.

Questions Where is everyone at with weight gain? I lost 9-10 pounds between 7-11 weeks pregnant and have been maintaining since.

GTKY Nanny, for sure! I’m tired of driving an hour each day to/from daycare and the obligatory additional 15-20 minutes of small talk. Plus, I’d love DS to get more one-on-one individual attention during the day.
  • @juliebird6 Have you ever made your own purees? We roasted fruits & veggies together in the over, then pureed them down to chunky texture. Usually it would be 3:1 fruit to veggie. DS also LOVES twice baked sweet potatoes and hummus.

When DS started doing better with meat like ground beef, we added veggies to tacos, sloppy joes, etc. he liked them better mixed in.

Another hit is frozen crinkle cut carrots roasted in the oven with a tiny bit of juice for added sweetness.
  • @proudparent2b No, DD basically won't let us feed her anything from a spoon except yogurt, and even that is hit or miss.  I hope to be able to do meat and veggies in something like a taco, but she still spits meat out right now.  We keep trying, but I've yet to really find a meat she'll eat except lunch meat.
  • @juliebird6 DS isn’t a huge meat eater, but he loves eggs!

  • @princesslockness Yes, she eats TONS of sliced cheese.  She's a cheese freak, which is actually really great because for the first year she was on a hypoallergenic formula for a dairy protein intolerance.  So her eating cheese and yogurt is huge for us!!

@calimom2524 No, I haven't tried that but I'll add it to our grocery list!  I used to be fancy and make stuff like that from scratch but now, not so much.

    How are you feeling?
Feeling so much better than I was. I still get random waves of nausea here and there, but haven’t puked in a while and I’m not taking Diclegis anymore.

    Rants/Raves
None really. We’re getting some work done on the upstairs of our house and I’m ready for that to be finished, but it looks so much better. We moved here almost a year ago and the previous owners had some interesting paint choices.

    Questions
How do I get my two year old to listen?

    Just kidding. Kind of.

    GTKY

Am I the only one that’s going for a chef? We have someone clean every other week though, otherwise or probably would be house keeper. I really hate cooking these days though.

@calimom2524 I’m sorry your family isn’t being more supportive. Hugs.

@juliebird6 we do lots of veggie tots/veggie fries here too. When he was younger I did the pouches with vegetables (Happy Baby brand)
  • @calimom2524 I’m so sorry, that’s rough. They have the rest of your pregnancy to come around, I hope it works out.

Pretty good! Feeling like my normal self.

    Rants/Raves:
DH surprised me with a shamrock shake today when he came home from work. That’s all I got lol.

    Questions:
My 4 y/o has a cleaning up problem. She will make a mess and refuse to clean it up. I’ve tried time outs and taking away privileges and treats, doesn’t work. She will just sit there and cry until I help her clean it up. Has anyone else had this problem? Any other ideas?

@juliebird6 Check out the Weelicious website if it’s still around. They had great recipes for getting kids to eat veggies. Also look at Pioneer Woman’s blog. DH hates most veggies, but he usually eats them when I use her recipes.

@calimom2524 I’m sorry about your parents. They have awhile to come around, and I hope they do.

@LC12261012  Have you tried boxing up the mess and not giving the stuff back until she earns it? Maybe if she loses enough of her toys, she’ll start picking them up.

ET finish my post - my phone seems to hate me tonight.
