Re: S+TM Check in / Chat Week of 2/19

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
    16w2d - I read that she’s the size of a dollar bill.

    How are you feeling?
I feel great.  Still just sleepy. A lot. Lol.

    Rants/Raves:
Actually not much to say either way. Feel good. I can finally feel baby. Wish I wasn’t so sleepy. But overall I have no complaints.

Everyday I wake up and just get more excited to see her. I am dying to know what she looks like. I just can’t wait to meet her.

    Questions:
    None

    GTKY:
A maid. With 4 kids. Yes. Please.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 15w5d today, the size of an apple.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Food aversions and gas are crazy today but I haven't been nauseous today so that's a small victory.

Rants/Raves: Found out the sex today - it's a boy! Mixed feelings because we've lost 2 girls and I don't know if I'll ever get my (living) girl now, but matching outfits and the boys being bffs is exciting. Plus my bff just found out she's having a boy too!

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Maid. Hands down. Especially one who is good at organizing the terrible state of my house right now.

@calimom2524 I'm so sorry your family isn't being supportive. I hope they come around soon! How do they feel about your SO?

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
14 weeks. Some of you may appreciate this...the size of a 1977 starwars action figure.

    How are you feeling?
Pretty good for the most part.

    Rants/Raves:
DH and I had an awesome solo trip to Ireland. I'm proud of how far and long I was able to walk and be on my feet.

    Questions:
    None

    GTKY:
A maid. Hands down. No question.

@calimom2524 I am so sorry for your parents reactions.

@juliebird6 we skipped purees too. I would roast up sticks of veggies until they we're almost falling apart, or steam them. Make smoothies using frozen berries, avocado, and spinach. Mini veggie muffins (but these were more like a snack). Also, a lot of people don't realize that babies and toddlers can have spices. So I would put a little salt and pepper on the veggies, cumin, cinnamon, etc.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? Will be 13w tomorrow.  Not sure what the fruit is yet ha.

How are you feeling? Fine.  DD2 has had a cold plus is teething for the past two weeks and I have been so tired from her coughing half the night.  I slept in the guest romm lats night and left the monitor with DH and it was glorious.

Rants/Raves: I need DD2 to be done teething like yesterday.  Ugh.

    Questions: nah

GTKY: we have a cleaning lady every other week already.  I love to cook but haven't had time to with any regularity for years and i am SO TIRED of eating the same quick frozen bullshit over and over...I'd want like a dinner-only personal chef.  Or maybe for my cleaning lady to come every week instead of every other week.

@lolog531 have you logged into the Natera website?  You can call to attach your test kit if you don't have the number.  I had mine drawn 2/13 and it says they received it 2/15 and estimate that the results will be in review by 2/26.  And then generally they're ready to view the next day.  However with DD2 they were super fast...drawn 11/18, received 11/19, in review 11/24, ready 11/25.  So it is possible for it to go more quickly than the estimate.  Depends on demand.
  • @delujm0 I called Natera this morning because I didn't have my case ID number to register. It said it was collected 2/15, received 2/16 and the results will be in review 2/27 - so pretty similar to the timeline you received! Now I'm just hoping that it goes more quickly than they're estimating!
For the Natera site - once the results are in, is everything displayed right there in detail? If markers/issues were found, the sex, etc?
    Me: 34 DH: 37
    DS: 5.28.15
    DS#2: EDD 8.31.18

  • @LC12261012 DS does this too and I try to explain to him that HE made the mess so he needs to clean it up and that mommy cleans up other messes.  I have taken the specific toys for him too.  He also has a chore chart and if he doesn't get a certain amount a week we don't do something fun like rent a movie, etc for him.  That's one of his chores is to clean up after himself.  He's 4 and it's worked pretty well.

@ecwk I think my only difference this pregnancy is I was nauseous for MUCH longer than my first.

@calimom2524 UGH I am sorry and can't say more than the other girls.  I hope they come around or your living situation somehow can change to where you're more independent of them? I of course don't know your circumstances though. Any chance of moving in with your SO?
  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
    16 weeks - avocado

    How are you feeling?
Pretty okay minus pubic pain all the time.

    Rants/Raves
Raves - DH comes home tomorrow night.
Rants - DS has been a sassy little Mr. and I know with DH coming home he's going to maybe get worse because he's been sleeping with me for 2 weeks and that transition back to his room is always hard when DH comes back.
I'm also tired of him crying every single morning about going to school.  He hates the 2 hour quiet/nap time.  What I wouldn't give for that now!

    Questions
    Can't think

    GTKY

A maid, fo sho.  In fact, DH has promised me a monthly cleaning service when the baby comes.  I can't keep up and he doesn't pull his weight even though we have "assigned" chores.  It's like he forgets them every week so it's constantly a threat that I am going to hire someone.
  • @lolog531 yes, I can still access the report from DD2.  There will be a link to the same pdf document that my doctor wound up uploading to their patient portal right there on the Natera site.  It tells you the sex and low/high risk data.

Yeah I was surprised that it seems to be taking so much longer this time than last time I had it done (which was only 15 months ago), but I think the secret is out and way more people are aware of and opt for the test now because it's well known that they'll only charge you a few hundred bucks if it gets denied by insurance.  I remember hearing about it with DD1 and skipping it because at the time people were getting billed for thousands of dollars when insurance denied it, so most people would only do it if it was covered.  I skipped it that time (about 3 years ago).
  • @calimom2524 I am so sorry, how rude and inappropriate for your father to react that way. People can be so ignorant

  • @calimom2524 I'm sorry your family is being so unsupportive, that's a truly horrible thing to say to anyone, let alone your kid.

These veggie hiding tips are all awesome! I just picked up some veggie tater tots last night and I'm excited for DS to try them!
  • @melprop I’ve considered that, but DS plays with a lot of them too and I feel bad taking toys from him when it’s her punishment.

@scottishlass1213 oh I really like the chore chart idea! I will try that.

The one I have is a Melissa and Doug from amazon. He really gets into it and they have a few blank ones where you can write in your own.
  • Need advice. My son is 19 months old and I’d like to transition him to a new bed, but I’m not sure when. He definitely isn’t ready yet and he’s never tried to climb out of his crib. So 2 questions:

Do I try to do it before the new baby is here? Or wait until after? We plan for the baby to sleep in our bedroom for a few months/Christmas timeframe.

Do we move him to a low-frame full size bed or twin bed? I voted full, but DH vehemently disagrees haha

DD never climbed out of her crib either, but around 18 months, she had a sleepover with her cousin on the floor, and didn't want to go back to the crib. We transitioned her crib into the toddler bed version and it's been great.

I've heard not to make any drastic changes 2 months before or after a new family comes into the home. So I would start early summer or wait until around Halloween to transition so it's not too jarring.

I vote full if that's what you plan on keeping him in for a while. I had a full bed growing up, and DD will be getting a queen soon since we already have one in the guest room, and the new baby will be getting the crib.
  • We do twins and they work great. My younger 2 hated the crib and slept way better in a big bed.

i put some pillows and big stuffed animals on the floor for first few months just in case.

  • We transitioned DS1 to his new room and big boy bed (it was a twin sized loft bed from ikea) a month before DS2 was born. It worked for us but I know a lot of people suggest not doing it so close to such a big life change. I personally would do it before to make it easier on everyone, it can be a challenge and to try and do it after baby may be rough. We didn’t want DS1 feeling like he was getting kicked out of his room because of DS2 so we designed it together and made a big deal out of it for him.

  • @calimom2524 how far apart are your boys?  DS will only be 21m when LO comes so I’m leaning toward leaving him in the crib.  He’s a perfect sleeper, I don’t want anything to mess it up
  • 14 weeks tomorrow

honestly feeling awful. So nauseous and tired and over it

strugglinn with my little guy. He is 2 and full blown toddlering. He seems to act out on the days I feel the worst. We usually are very active and do lots of different things and we have obviously not been able too b cause I feel terrible. I want to take the easy way out and turn on his shows but Mom guilt is preventing me.  Any advice?
  • @Taylovesbrad friends with toddlers?  My new thing is getting together with different friends every weekend.  It’s  the only relaxing I get and DS loves running around with other kids
  • @Taylovesbrad I second what @livinthesunnylife said! It’s like therapy when I can get together with other moms and DS can play with other kids. He’s toddlering hard core these days too. Also, put on the damn show if you need to!! It’s all about survival, no judgement here! You wont cause irreversible damage or anything...DS currently loves to watch Blippi on YouTube. It’s somewhat educational so....I don’t feel bad :shrugs:

I have so many Mom friends and activities we usually do but I’m just not up for it. My nausea and exahstion are on the I can’t function level. But maybe I should try to get back in the swing of things- thanks for the replies.

  • I know my oldest is old. But did anyone else deal with Baby’s Einstein videos. Oh em gee I hated them. Up there with teletubbies 13 years ago. Awful.

But. Sprout Network has done a great job raising my kids. Not sorry.

  • Hell yes to Sofia the first. At least she's nice and teaches morals. Now DD is into that new Netflix show llama llama. I try to get her to watch the magic School bus also. There's a new version on Netflix thats all teched up and 21st century.

DS1 was 28 months (yes, I had to do that math haha) when DS2 was born but he was a horrible sleeper and started climbing out of his crib around 18 months.

Well this is now stuck in my head but I don't hate it! DS is super big into playing pretend now and whenever this song comes on, he pretends to be a shark and chases us around the house chomping his teeth
