Fav Quote: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts  She said it's either timing or egg quality or both.  Since I'm 38, she wants to start this right away to cover the timing question and ensure we get at least that right.  If it's egg quality, the clomid may help with that.  If neither works, we move to IVF in three months.  I turn 39 in 6 months, so time is not on our side.  Like so much with infertility, it's something of a guessing game.

  • On mobile so too far behind to do tags but I’ll try and pop back on later to get to them!

Diagnosis (if you've been): Secondary IF - still figuring out why

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF - AF was due yesterday and there is no sign of her (but lots of negative tests) so that’s fun.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): if AF doesn’t show by tomorrow I’m screwed for BW for another month as I’ll be gone for the day 3 testing which means I’m now looking at April before getting any results - ugh.

How are things going?: Ok. Frustrated my cycles won’t cooperate. I think I’m going to go see my doctor once I’m back to get my u/S results as I don’t want to wait another 2 months until my BW is done to get everything at once. As is I can get in until the beginning of March and I have a feeling whatever it is they found is what is messing with my cycles and seems to be making them progressively longer.

    Any questions?: not for now.

GTKY: In the spirit of the games,  what is your favorite winter Olympic event to watch?  Probably figure skating but I’m really not huge into Olympics (and don’t have cable so never actually watch any of them) - other than when they came to Vancouver I usually hardly even know they’re happening.

  • @50Wife I’m so sorry, friend. I’m glad the doctor has a good plan to make sure your body is ready for FET. Huge hugs.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

@RVAmom315  Yes, I know clomid doesn't improve the quality of the egg.  However, as my RE explained it, by releasing a greater quantity of eggs, it increases the chance of one of them being of higher quality.  That's what I meant.  Yes, I've read ISWTE.  Since we started trying last year, I have not been drinking alcohol, have been exercising regularly, have been taking vitamins, and have been eating a clean diet consisting solely of lean protein, fruits, and vegetables to also help with health and egg quality.

  • @ndz2018 I'm not sure... still deciding. We might do another IUI, but we might do IVF next.

@lurvleybunchococonuts As far as I know, Letrozole does not have a lifetime cap. You're right, it doesn't thin your lining. And I don't really notice any side effects from it. I've had night sweats a couple times, but that's about it. It works well for ovulation induction in PCOS. It doesn't work well for me, but the RE thinks it's because of my high AMH level.

@dragonette505 Glad you're on the other side of the surgery now! When will you be un-benched?
  • @purplg8r Have a great time on your trip!

@dragonette505 So happy your surgery is over and you can move forward!

@lurvleybunchococonuts I hope O shows up. No advice on letrozole v clomid, I've only done Clomid

  • @antoto @50Wife oh good lord no, illegally obtained medications sound like a good way to end up with more problems than just IF.  I surely hope people don't actually do that.  I'm suppose to go in around CD12 for them to take a looksie.

@avrilmai For my first two IUIs, I O'd around CD 15, which is typical for me. This past IUI, I O'd CD 18 (supposedly but the jury's still out. It was either CD 17 or 18).

  • Hey guy! Hope everyone is having a good week! I have a question for everyone....
I got a call from my pharmacy yesterday telling me that my new prescription plan does not cover the specific prenatal vitamin I’ve been taking, Vitafol-One( which also contains DHA not to be confused with dhea and 800mcg of folic acid). I emailed my nurse to ask if she had any recommendations or if they typically use any other vitamin equivalent to Vitafol-one. My question is does anyone take a Prenatal with DHA and 800mcg of folic acid besides Vitafol- One? And if not all suggestions are welcome!
Thank you! She did say I could Check out OTC Prenat vits but going through insurance is so much cheaper! THANKS!!

  • @ndz2018 This is what I take. I'm taking it mostly for egg quality though (it was recommended as the #1 best for egg quality) I get it from Amazon and it's expensive, but at least it's a 2 month supply

@ndz2018 I just started taking Zahler Prenatal + DHA in spoiler is the ingredient list.
ETA: at first glance I thought it was a 2-month supply, nope you take 2 pills/serving, but so far so good.

Also added, I was previously taking https://similac.com/prenatal-care/prenatal-vitamins for the past year.  They are hard on the stomach, but had the bonus of being available just about EVERYWHERE, and are inexpensive.

@ndz2018 Ha, @lurvleybunchococonuts beat me to it, I switched to Zahler Prenatal +DHA a couple weeks ago. It has 1000mcg of methylfolate (a more bio-available form of folic acid), DHA and Iron. It was the best rated prenatal I could find that has all those in one pill.

Awesome! Thank you so much for input!
  • @lurvleybunchoconuts Best case scenario is to do all of the testing before you start treatment, but I am a fellow PCOS-er who also did not do all the testing before I started treatment. We did the SA, but not the HSG and did 2 cycles before I did the HSG. When you've been waiting so long, it's hard to wait longer to start treatment, and I don't blame you for trying one cycle now. I hope it works!

@avrilmai I don't O on my own, but from hanging out on this board, it does seem like it just depends. Some people end up O'ing earlier and some later. Unfortunately, there's not really a way to tell which way it will go for you until you've done it. Hopefully the timing does work out.
