We went out with my parents this weekend to hear a band and the people watching was out of this world. I swear there was a guy who had Chandler's exact moves! It was a riot!

I’m at home suffering from norovirus. This is so much worse than my bout of influenza. Winter and all the miserable diseases associated with it can just fuck right off. I miss being healthy and warm. I feel like I’ve been sick literally all of 2018. Fml

@wishiwaspreggo No, not noro!! I'm so sorry. I have never had it but I used to work in the lab where noro was tested and it was so extremely infectious. Hope you feel better soon.

The flu is so scary this year, I know so many people who have gotten it.

Motivation to work is low today... motivation to eat a bunch of peanut M&Ms is pretty high though. They have peanuts, peanuts have protein so they count as a meal IMO.

@eleven_, it is ridiculous how bad it is this year. My mom had it last week, and I am hoping I am safe... Then today, a patient came in to work, refused a mask, coughed in my face and said he had the flu. I work for an ophthalmologist, it wasn't an emergency. I was so pissed off.

Now, my throat and head are starting to hurt, so I am worried. Mom had strep too, so it could be that too.

AFM, I am excited (hopefully I am not sick and simply feeling like crap) that I am getting my hair done tomorrow. It is in horrible shape from TW the chemo drying it out and how much fell out. Plus, I think it held color oddly. End TW. I am getting it cut and highlights.

@holly321 It makes me so angry when people don't wear face masks when they are sick at my work. We have them available the second you walk in the door, yet people still don't wear them and then proceed to cough and sneeze all over everything.

@holly321 @eleven_ Ugh people can be so gross, I work in a pharmacy and I swear over winter I must develop a superhuman immune system after all the times people cough at me or sneeze without covering their mouth. They can look like they are dying and want something to help them get back to the office and I'm there thinking... maybe its best you don't so you don't infect ever single person there.

I've come back to life - hooray! Still kind of feeling like shit but sooooooo much better than I was 24 hours ago. The only upside to norovirus is it doesn't really last that long. Kind of tears through you like a hurricane and then it's over. I do have severe loss of appetite though so that kind of sucks but otherwise... hunky dory. Glad to be back at work, weird as that sounds. Reduces the stress tremendously to get stuff done.

And yes, people who are sick need to stay home. Disease spreads so easily and in the winter we're all forced to be together indoors. The least you can do is stay in your house if you have a fever or nausea. But then I remember our nation's draconian sick-leave policy and our insane "tough it out" culture when it comes to illness. It's proven that productivity INCREASES when you have sick leave because people who are sick stay home and don't infect the rest of the employees. Food industry is particularly guilty of not paying employees to stay home and of all services the last person I want being sick is the individual handling or serving me food.

It's a messed up world we live in.

I have a notoriously black thumb... Last week my office plant was thriving! I was so proud, it even had new shoots growing. Over the weekend it completely died. I swear someone poisoned it! I mean look at this thing...

@LJMoon6 - you should try a peace lily. You can't kill them if you try. If you forget to water it and it's all droopy and the leaves are draped across the pot, give it a big drink of water and bam, in a few hours the leaves will be upright again. Those are my favorite office plants because if I'm on vacation they'll usually survive even if I don't have anyone around to water it for me!

@wishiwaspreggo - uhhhhh as I was reading your note about the peace lily I was thinking wow that sounds just like the spathiphyllum we have. I looked it up and it's the same freaking plant. I can never remember the name and H corrects me literally EVERY.single.time... you know what name isn't hard to screw up??? PEACE LILY!!!! I'm about to give H so much shit for this.

ETA @LJMoon6 - completely agree about peace lilies. My H trained me to dump our water glasses from the night into the plant before bringing them downstairs. It's literally the only reason any of our plants survive, but @wishiwaspreggo is totally right, they are so low maintenance.

@ljmoon6 I used to be exactly the same! I even killed a bonsai tree in four weeks.
But now I have all plants in pots with watering systems - you just top up each week (I have an alarm set weekly on my phone) and if you’re going on vacation you can fill to max and they can survive easily a month! It’s amazing and for the first time in my life I have living plants in my house!

I honestly cannot tell you!!! This was like 15 years ago and I don't know what happened. it looked bad, so i tried to water, get it to some sun (not direct sunlight) but i could not bring it back. it was like, "i hate you - you are not worthy".

@galactickates @catlady2015 they are not the cheapest, but they have saved me a fortune buying new plants every three months! We’ve even got more adventurous and have some weird exotic succulents. @galactickates I think some of them would go great in your new house hehehe ;-)

@galactickates It was on my mind today. I follow some folks who do a podcast on IVF and they had a disappointment recently in their 4th round of IVF. The husband tweeted about it and there were SO MANY people who tweeted that “you can always just adopt.” I have to think people who say that really do think you can get a baby for free on the internet or something, as opposed to the reality of a very long, involved and expensive process.

@zamora_spin I told a friend (who was trying to be helpful and is naive of all things IF) about what's going on with me and her first two comments were 1) why don't you use a surrogate? And 2) why don't you just skip all the testing and medications and just save $ to adopt. *wall meet head*

I’ve been binging Matt and Doree’s podcast while I wait for my IVF consult appointment and I’m so grateful to them for being so open about everything despite the insensitive comments and feedback they seem to constantly get. It’s got to be really hard for them some days.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I’m sorry you got that response. There’s a lot of “educating” we are burdened with when we struggle TTC. What a fun bonus for all of us!

Just took my first 2 shots of Humira to, hopefully, treat my Psoriasis and holy shirt it effing stings!!! It stings more than any shot I have ever given myself or been given for infertility or anything! I have to press the button to inject the medicine and then hold it for 10 seconds while it stings really bad! and it's not a quick 10 seconds because they want me to count mississippily!! Its the longest 10 seconds ever!!! And then after the pain of the first shot I had to do it again in my other leg!

Next shot is in a week

Then to top it all off I may not see results for 3 to 4 months. Don't get Psoriasis y'all because it isn't fun.

Do you have arthritis too?

@emmasemm I have psoriasis presenting on over 90% of my scalp and its itches like crazy, gets infected frequently, and is causing me to lose my hair. My OB, Dermatologist, and I all talked about it and right now the benefits outweigh the risk for me. We will reevaluate if I do get PG but I will likely stay on it.

That all being said have you gotten a second opinion on it? Are you in the US or elsewhere? The AAP is generally ok with its use during pregnancy: link. Also see this study which cites some interesting info on Humira use during pregnancy.
