@mmom3 I guess it depends on your insurance? I actually didn't call and ask ours, I just assumed it was kind of like coverage for the flu shot which is free under our insurance, and our insurance is taken at Wal-Greens. I just asked DH if he paid out of pocket, and he said no, they took his insurance info, and it was free.
@missnc77 Regarding TDAP - my midwife said every 10 years is fine, so DH didn't get a booster even though it's been 6 years. kinda annoyed that there is no consensus, but my bigger problem is that my mom is coming to stay with us to help right after baby is born, and Medicare won't cover the shot! Only if she gets cut and dr suspects tetanus infection. It's been way more than 10 years since she's had it, so this is like WTF on multiple levels. grr
@fatstagnation I actually googled the out of pocket cost after seeing @mmom3's question, and I think it said it was $65. Can you go halves with her? That is so annoying, especially because the 10 years thing IS the CDC recommendation. And I agree about frustration over no consensus. I certainly don't want to ask anyone to get more vaccine than they actually need, so we were torn.
missnc77 yeah I'm talking to DH about just offering to pay for it. Her Dr. said it was $135 but maybe at the pharmacy it would be less? Who knows in this country!
Yesterday when MH and I were checking out at Costco this really creepy looking dude was staring at me. I played on my phone a bit, trying not to look back. Then he came up to me and said in a weird voice, "8 months?" I wasn't even sure that's what he said at first, but he repeated it and MH and I looked at each other and smiled and said "yeah", expecting a follow-up, like, "my wife looked like that just before ours" or "is this your first?", or, well, pretty much... anything. But he just kept looking at me and didn't say another word.
Only 3 hours later did it occur to us that dude was one of those pregnancy fetish weirdos! I was so used to randos coming up to me and asking about the pregnancy that I completely spaced and this wasn't even on my radar. So gross. He is probably on this board right now, creeping all of us.
Thanks ladies - I will look into Walgreens. My DH doesn’t have a primary care anymore and haven’t been able to get into find another one. Calling Walgreens tomorrow morning!
Feeling like I have more energy today but I am sure I will pay for it later. My house is clean, kids wrote out their valentines, made heart shaped crayons, packed valentines bags, made DDs box to collect them, made lunch and did some laundry and dishes. I still need to sew pillow cases for the nursery. I am not trying to brag but it has been weeks since I felt like I could do this much in one day.
Well after 24 hours of active labor and contractions about 2-3 mins apart, we got sent home this morning. No changes in dilation due to baby being posterior. Trying to get her to move so she can push on my cervix to help dilation. I can feel her pushing down, she’s trying. She’s just too far back and to the right. I got her to move a bit and have had my bloody show already today. I am so sore and miserable to say the least. Just trying to hang in there for now.
Thinking of you @crossfitbabybump! I think I read that the child’s pose can help baby get into a better position for birth? Hoping you get to hold your baby soon!
@crossfitbabybump maybe see if you can get into your chiropractor tomorrow. You may have some tight muscles they can work on so help her shift into place.
@megpeg - ironically I have an appointment tomorrow with my chiro and I’m hoping he can help! Just have to lay on my left side as much as possible for now. She’s moved but then she’ll move back. Stubborn little thing! I’ve heard of spinning babies, do you think it would help??
@crossfitbabybump my first was posterior and my labor went a similar way. I found getting down on my knees with my arms and chest leaning on a yoga ball and rocking got her to flip and I started making progress. Good luck!
@fatstagnation Call up Costco to see how much. Drs office price seems high. A while back Safeway quoted me $60ish w/o insurance. It really pisses me off that Medicaid won't cover it. I love that when you're current on that, you can get a minor cut (or burn! They count too!) that, on its own, doesn't warrant a trip to the doctor and you don't have to worry if you should go in for the shot. So damn dumb. It seems like so often insurance is willing to spend more in the end to try to weasel out of a little bit up front.
@crossfitbabybump Basically what the doula who taught our birth class said is that spinning babies stuff won't hurt and can only help. It's definitely worth trying!

@crossfitbabybump yes try spinning babies too! My DD flipped at 37 weeks to head up and between getting a special adjustment and spinning babies she was back head down the next day.
@crossfitbabybump The good news is that it's likely your baby will turn. The down side is that it can be a long process, as you already know. I'll be thinking of you!
Thank you ladies so much! Hoping the chiro can do his thing tonight and @heatherdubrow - I'm going to try that with my ball! Sleeping on my left side last night I think helped! I definitely feel she's moved and the contractions are strong and more painful. I had some spotting this morning too. Everyone is surprised I came to work today but I need a distraction and can't just sit at home like this! lol
Well, my cerclage is out...sort of. He was able to clip the knot which had a small part of both ends, but there is still string stuck up there. Not surprising considering my cervix is probably a solid ball of scar tissue. He said I should still dilate like normal. A similar thing happened with my cerclage with DD. I am by myself for a sec, so I am going to Sephora to buy myself a present.
I don't know how to do a spoiler box or anything like that sorry.. but TMI. I just had another bloody show. I had one last night and more just now. Must mean something's moving along in there! Still in a good bit of pain and trying to hold out!! C'mon Baby G!!!!!
@crossfitbabybump I used spinning babies with my first to help him change positions. Child pose like someone else suggested is really good. Also, check out the Miles Circuit.
In other news, we were discharged today! And then I almost had to take MH to the ER because he forgot to take care of himself during the past 6 days and his blood sugar crashed and he was uncontrollably shaking. My mom was freaked out too. I force fed him juice and made him nap and then he looked less like death so I didn’t end up taking him but sooo scary.
@mdfarmchick - congrats!! soooo tiny and cute! I checked out spinning babies last night and used my ball to help get adjusted. She's definitely moved so FX she stays that way. Welcome home!
@mdfarmchick so scary about YH! Hopefully he remembers to take care of himself too now. Glad you're all home and can try to adjust to the new normal now!!
Yesterday, I got a script for my breast pump and they gave me a brochure for https://pumpingessentials.com to order my pump. It was really easy and they have already confirmed by insurance and script. I just had to enter info online and email a picture of my script. If any of you need a provider for your pump maybe try them out. I felt like it was easy.

@kiki75 Thanks for the tip. Will look into it.
