It was a self-burn :lol: I'm in MA, DH grew up one town over from Foxboro!
Same with the grammar. Sometimes it's autocorrect, sometimes just sloppy typing. I don't always give enough of a F to go back and change it!

  • @mrsbubbles-2 Some grammar mistakes are more egregious than others.  Ending with a preposition isn't the end of the world.

I'll have to come back for my FFFC. I can't think of anything good.
  • I could also eat avocados on everything! I hate cilantro, and will actually gag if I taste it. Cucumbers have no taste for me, and since we are talking about food - I put GARLIC in everything I make.

    Cilantro = dish soap. Yuck.

@ashleyandjody lol, me too. This is me:

i cant get this damn pic to post right.
  • @Firemanswife11 do you sell essential oils?
  • OMG essential oils.  If we want some flames or snark or anything can we open an entire thread just for essential oils??? It'd be way better than the name thread!!!
  • PS I love cilantro and will meal plan around it.
  • I'm no fan of avocado or cilantro. Guacamole can be good, but that's after introducing a ton of flavor to an otherwise bland and mushy "whatever" food. I feel the same about tofu.

Some people have commented with things to love about toddlers, but honestly, they've given several of the reasons I don't like them. They're are overly clingy and affectionate. They speak incoherently, and don't respond to logic or reason. They have tons of emotions, and almost no ability to regulate or control them. I hate listening to a 3 year old's "story" that they want to tell me, that is just a long incoherent ramble of nonsense. I think I'll be good with having one of my own (most of the time) but I really hope I have a somewhat independent kid that isn't quite so clingy and needy all of the time. My mom is exactly the same way, and she thought I was alright, so hopefully I'll feel the same way with my child. Luckily I'll have hormones that kick in to help with that process.

  • @amac12999 hahaha oh gosh no. I'd never make a sale because I'd scare everyone away from actually ever making a purchase. ("Do you have kids? Do you have dogs? Cats? High blood pressure? What medical conditions do you have? What meds are you on?") ! I have dabbled a bit in aromatherapy study and I'd like to get my certification.
I'm enjoying your info on them. My mom joined one of the MLM companies literally just for the discount so her and I order from that one in particular. She's really big into meditation so she mostly just diffuses different blends but I'm curious about using them for ailments and such. I did a lot of Pinterest research but I haven't taken the time to really make any of the blends or anything.

  • @derbysquirrel I am exactly the same. It's different with your own kid. DS is incredibly independent but he does some super annoying things sometimes like hollar "Mama" over and over Stewie in Family Guy. Haha.
  • @derbysquirrel Neither of my toddlers is clingy. L will sit on my lap and snuggle if I ask and he is tired. Most of the time I get a hug and they he runs off to continue playing. E is still super independent as she just learned to walk in last 2-3 months. She has never snuggled outside of being sick. She won't even nap while being held.

They also both regulate fairly well, and I know H and I have nothing to do with teaching them that. L will put himself in 'time-out' and E just clenches and shakes her fists and goes to kick something. Otherwise they are super not in your face.

Now, I understand not all kids are like that, but mine haven't been awful to be around and can both entertain themselves in a gym with just a ball and chair. Its really nice.

  • @derbysquirrel I think you have to foster that independence from day one. I felt the same, I had/have zero desire to play with or entertain my kid all damn day. So, when he was an infant, I still showered every day and he was safe in the crib or PnP. I left him on the living room floor on a mat while I made meals or whatever and he figured things out. Now he plays independently really well and I know I can trust him to play or at least occupy himself if I need to get some things done.

But i also agree with @juliebird6. You’ll love your kid but will also need it to go away sometimes.
  • @Firemanswife11 hahaha. That made me Lol. I’m enjoying your knowledge as well. I’ve been hesitant to use them because I was told by an acupuncturist they are powerful and I am scared of using them incorrectly.
  • Here's one to probably ruffle some feathers.  I think essential oils and acupuncture and basically all things homeopathic are bunk science.  No offense to those who get down with this stuff - you do you - but I'll pass.
  • @princesslockness
That sounds perfect! I could absolutely handle that.

    @ladygali
I think you're right. I think boredom (in doses) is good for kids of every age. They learn how to entertain themselves, and be creative. It also prevents them from expecting and demanding instant gratification. Wins all around!

I get this and I actually used to feel the same way. I don't think EOs are going to cure my endometriosis by any means, but if I can find a blend that helps ease the pain sometimes I'm totally down for trying it. The allergy trifecta blend that I diffuse actually did work wonders for my seasonal allergies, so I'm open to trying them. I used to feel exactly the same but since my mom got into it and I live with her I was like eh, I'll try this, and I've been pretty surprised with the outcome.

@derbysquirrel Glad I could make some worry a bit lighter. Also, L loves to tell me stories. I listen for words I understand, but literally tune everything else out. At 2.5 YO he is super talkative, but doesn't need much from my end. A 'Oh really?' or 'Thats GREAT!' usually gets him to go play again.

  • @juliebird6 WHAAAAAT?! *clutches pearls* More for me then, heh heh. FWIW, I used to think the same, and, well, now I don't. But I definitely don't try to push them on anyone. I just want everyone to make sure they're using them the safest way possible! Hopefully my info on them doesn't get annoying. I try to be thorough when someone has a question.

@ladygali that's how we were with DS. He's always been pretty independent, thank goodness.
  • @Firemanswife11 No, I'm not annoyed by it at all.  Better to share information so people are using them properly.  I just scroll on by.    :*
  • @calimom2524 what is the allergy blend! My allergies are ROUGH here in the summer.

I had a dog named Lexxi, so I associate Lexxi with a dog, never know a stripper by that name, lol.  And I never knew Hazel was an "old" name.  I associate it with a beautiful eye color.... But I guess that's all leftovers from the UO's.

@coffeecocktailsandcake it's lavender, lemon, and peppermint. I just diffuse it in my room at night and it totally helped me. Even if it's placebo, I'll take it.

  • Funny story on the acupuncture thing.  When I was almost a week overdue and so over the kid that wouldn't come out, I went to the "expert" acupuncture guy in town that swears he can put you into labor.  After about two hours of nada, I told him to get the stupid needles out of me cause clearly it wasn't working lol
  • @calimom2524 good to know! I have those oils.  But yes...wonder if it was the added humidity of the air! I feel the same way.
  • @lalala2004 and then in 60 years Katelynn will be back!

  • To address the acupuncture stuff.  I actually work at an integrative health university and I am more traditional and when I got here I was like "nah" to all this stuff.  I still am, to like Reiki and Qigong and things like that....

But, I have gone to acupuncture and while I don't know if I still buy some of the stuff they feed me. The few times I have gone for sinus and physical symptoms, it has worked!  They always tell me my Qi is low and my blood needs building and I just don't know.  My co-worker actually enrolled in the Doctoral program and so I want to find out how much is whooey LMAO.

Also, we have an Herbs program and I will use some herbs for different things now and have felt them work.

So, I am slightly coming around, but definitely not to everything.  Though the lady that does Reiki here did guess I was pg before I told anyone AND she told me I was having a boy, which I guess is a 50/50 shot hahaha
  • @Firemanswife11 LOL! I love all things spooky, and Halloweeny, and have always wanted to visit Salem (after all I did name my very opinionated tortie cat born on Halloween that...). But it seems every bloody vacation we take goes out west, and other than Devil's Tower, not much spooky out there. Although there was some fascinating grotto in the middle of bumfark Iowa that some priest built out of rocks, minerals, and fossils and well, as a rockhound, I was in looove. :dizzy:

My MIL also does crystal therapy stuff now. Some of the stuff she talks about is just so woo-woo that I'm just left smiling and nodding. If it makes her happy, I guess. heh
  • @ecwk I had no idea that people snapchat while driving. Holy shit, that takes the level of assholeness up by at least a factor of 10

My FFFC is I have bad road rage and bad pedestrian rage against shitty drivers. Also if you text or snapchat while you’re driving you’re an asshole.
My husband honks at people he sees texting and stares them down while mouthing put the phone down and motioning. It makes me slightly proud but also worried he’ll get shot.
Yes!! Your husband rocks, that sounds like me. I usually flip then off too...
