I don't like little kids. I'm scared about the first 4 years of parenthood. I assume I'll feel differently about my own, and I really like them when they are older, but those first few years terrify me. Toddlers are the worst.
Me:32 DH:45 DSD: 20 DSS: 18 Team green baby due: Aug 6th, 2018
@derbysquirrel don’t be scared, you’ll totally be fine. Toddlers have a bad reputation and can be the biggest sassholes but you’ll get so much love from him/her and they’ll be a lot of fun! You can still dislike other people’s kids though
I roll and scroll through the name thread. Names are usually flamed hardcore on TB, but this group is super nice to one another, so I just keep on walkin.
@derbysquirrel I don’t like other people’s kids, for the most part. So, I get it. Toddlers are hard but also very sweet and loving, so like everything you get the good with the bad.
@7425cait oh I want to flame some names so bad but I do the same. Just scroll on by.
I have two FFFC today: 1. I let my kid watch his tablet for two out of three daily meals because otherwise he doesn’t eat. And mostly don’t give a shit about screen time except that if he gets too much he’s super hyper. So I try to balance.
2. I help out at his preschool about once a month or so and one of my jobs is getting kids in and out of the car for drop off/pick up. I hardcore judge the other parents for their lack of car seat safety. Like, loose straps, twisted straps, not secured to the back seat, in a booster too young, and there’s one kid I’m not even sure has a seat. It makes me really sad but what the heck do I even say? So, I just pray those sweet little kids are never in an accident because it will be the end.

THIS. Some are so cringey. The name thread gets shut down on a lot of BMB's.

I definitely judge a lot of the names I encounter on here. And in real life. I'm pretty judgey about names.
My FFFC is that DH and I still haven't had sex since I've been KU. We tried once and he got in his own head about it and couldn't go through with it. I'm so tired and gross feeling I don't particularly mind right now, but maybe that will change when I hit the second trimester.

If people are asking for opinions, I’ll give it. If people are just sharing... I let it go. So I guess my confession is that I’ve side-eyed a few names shared in there, but none have been truly cringe-worthy.
@derbysquirrel it’ll be different with your own. Toddlers are hard but they are so rewarding bc they looooove you. Preschool age is my FAVORITE. Personality, communication, so much they are learning... and man they love their mamas.
im worried for the teenager years when the problems are much bigger, or can be, they are more often surly, uncommunicative... and they probably won’t climb in my bed every morning to snuggle and give me kisses and impromptu ‘mommy? I wuv you.’
@derbysquirrel I don't like other people's kids at all. I can't stand them. Hahaha. When I drop off or pick up my own kid and the little minions come running toward me, I cringe. Keep your boogers and your other slime to yo'self!
@pghctwife I am so worried about the teenage years! I feel like no matter what they say I am not going to believe them. Like if they tell me they are going to the library or staying at a friends house I am going to be thinking they are going to party with drugs and booze. I sure told my mom some stories so I think I am just going to assume my kids will.
My DD will be 13 next week. So far, it’s not so bad. Her having a phone helps because I can track just about everything. Which friend is the friend we need to avoid. lol. We get eye rolls. And snark. And tears. Over boys. So much fun. But, I think she’s easier than my 4 yo. Because the little one is just nuts haha. And the middle one is my book worm. Here’s hoping she stays that way. Crossing fingers.
I used to love other people’s kids and especially babies. I still think they’re okay but now that I have my own I like them a lot less.
I’m with you @jsnakehole. We’ve had sex once at around 12 weeks. But DS has been sick, and I’ve been sick, so whatever. Maybe we’ll start having sex more, maybe not. We didn’t much when I was pregnant with DS and that part of our life didn’t go back to normal until DS was around 8 months or so.
@amac12999@jsnakehole same. Based on my last pregnancy, when I told DH I was pregnant, he was like, "alright, so no more sex for the next year and a half." Pretty much.
Me: 28, DH: 40 Married 9/28/13 DS born 11/12/15 EDD 8/13/18
Ha, I havent had sex since being knocked up but it's not that big of a deal....plenty of people here won't even have sex but two or three times, if that, their entire pregnancy! Don't worry!
My confession, a girl asked me to help decorate tables for an awards ceremony yesterday. I told her to email me the info. She never did and I never wanted to help so I dropped it. I'm at a coffee shop and she just walked in and I saw her but she didn't see me. Ha!! No regrets.
Given other's FFFCs regarding sex, I guess mine will be that pregnancy has never affected our sex life - I almost try to do it as much as possible early because I know for a while the belly and newborn will make it more awkward. And even after pushing those babies out, after 2-3 weeks each time we have been right back at it (with midwife's blessing). I don't think DH finds the pregnant belly sexy but it hasn't stopped him, I usually just wear something to cover it up when it gets big and I'm self-conscious.
@alinafed I am team Bring on the Sex. lol. I don’t think it’s better during pregnancy. Especially as you go on and on. It gets better. Have to give up some of my favorite positions. Boo. That part is a bummer.
Being pregnant hasn't stopped us from having sex, if anything it's increased the frequency. Hubby seems to like the changes he sees so far (boobs!) and everything feels more intense for me than before. Although my OB recommended we abstain due to the ovarian cyst and fears it'd twist, we kinda sorta never did. We just adjusted positions and intensity. That counts, right?
I wish I could experience pregnancy sex but I’ve been on pelvic rest for every one of my pregnancies. Luckily DH understands and doesn’t complain *too* much

We've had sex a couple of times and it has been super awesome - way better than pre-pregnancy - but 99.9 percent of the time, I don't feel sexy or I have raging heartburn. My poor husband.
This could either be a tame FFFC or I could get majorly flamed. Here it goes- I will eat them but, I do not really like avocados! I do not get the obsession with putting them in everything. I think they are weird and taste like either nothing or dirt.
I only like avocados in guacamole or on a really tasty flatbread thing from Chili’s. Otherwise I agree, they taste like nothing.

@Firemanswife11 I've gotten better over the years, just because I love Mexican food enough to tolerate some cilantro in my food/salsa. But there is definitely a "soap threshold" amount that'll ruin a dish for me. lol
@neeraja_k and @Firemanswife11 I love cilantro. I have heard about liking or not liking it is genetic but I never heard it about avocados. That is really interesting.
Avocados are amazing. I like to cut them in half and fill the hole where the seed was with salsa and eat it with a spoon. So yum. And my FIL is one who thinks cilantro tastes like soap, but i love it too.
@Brezzy1928 - I'll take allll your avocados! Especially while pregnant, if we're ordering in or eating out somewhere I'll pretty much ask if they can add avocado to whatever I'm ordering. Had it in my Caesar salad the other night. Yum!
+1 for no sex since we *ahem* conceived this one. We're not the sex-every-other-day type in the first place to trying to get KTFU was actually kind of hard on our relationship. We were always relieved when I could say I got the crosshairs so DH knew that meant me could take a break lol! Break is 13 weeks and counting now...
FFFC: Is it terrible to say that if I've posted a cringe-worthy name that I actually want the snark and side-eyes? I don't want the kid's first grade teacher to read out roll call and be like what the eff were mom and dad thinking lol! We do have a lot of teachers on this board! Maybe we could start a new thread of names you actually want opinions on...

I totally agree. I would rather hear it now from internet "strangers" (though quickly becoming friends but you know what I mean) than to have no idea!
@mrsbubbles-2 use Jack Donaghy's advice: stick to kings and queens of England. There will never be a Dr. Katniss or a President Ashton. Or a non-sexually confused Lorne.

Can we insert (politely) cause I feel like things got a little unnecessarily snarky yesterday and I don't want to see us fall apart when we're just getting started. There's a nice way to give an opinion without it feeling so attacky (yes, I made up that word)
@mrsbubbles-2 I actually kinda agree with the name thing because I could be thinking I have this awesome names picked out and later wish someone would have said "That is horrible. Why would you do that?" I would hate to have name remorse.
I can take or leave avacados. Guac is good, but otherwise eh. Cilantro is wonderful, and I buy it just to sent my house some days. Sex is wonderful, and while having 2 Little’s makes it difficult, we still try at least 2x a week.
My FFFC is I’m just showing a movie today. Not even close to what we are talking about, but IDGAF. Planet Earth Here we come!

@ladygali +1 for the tablet at meals. Each kid has an ipad and both are allowed at the dinner table. it's the only way toddler monster will eat his food. Idgaf about screen time either. My kids play together and play with their toys all the time and then spend 8 hours in school so in the hours they're home if they choose the ipad, they can have it.
I don't get the avocado hype either, I agree they don't have much taste but I do love guacamole.
I agree on the names thread, I wish if any of my choices were awful someone let me know because I'd hate to be getting side eyed on name choice from every teacher ever.
