Positive Focus (2/6)

So we have an awesome thread for our complaints, but I feel like we need a spot for some positive focus to balance that out, even if it's only for a couple of days!

What's something positive that's happened to/with you recently?
Something nice a co-worker/friend did? A compliment from someone? A new article of clothing? Did your cat snuggle with you extra, and that make you feel good?
What's something that made you feel a little better, if even for just a moment?

I figured no one would mind having this thread pop up, so I didn't question starting it.
There's a lot of rants and negativity that we can expel on the rant thread, but I figure we could use a place to remember something positive about the day/week/whatever!

My positive focus right now would be:
-I got my first pair of full panel pants and I plan to live in them for the next 4.5 months!
-I ordered a bunch of books regarding childbirth, and my first one arrived in my mail today! I should have another couple at the post office, and I'm stoked to grab them tomorrow!

I was in desperate need of some "me" time so Saturday afternoon, H kept DD occupied while I napped uninterrupted and then I went out to Target to wander aimlessly through the aisles for a few hours. When I came back, dinner was made, dishes were done and he cleaned one of the bathrooms. He's been working overtime the past few weekends and is going out of town for his annual "guys weekend" this weekend so the personal time was really nice.

The dog woke me up at 6 am this morning (I don't usually wake up until 6:45 but in reality I don't get out of bed until 7:15) but I took the opportunity to make myself a cup of coffee, clean the coffee pot and make myself waffles for breakfast (nothing fancy just frozen Eggo's). I took my time doing my hair and make up and got to work 15 mins early instead of 15 mins late. There was no traffic that early which really helped continue my joy for the morning. Even though work has been crazy I have felt alert and focused for most of the day.

I'm feeling baby move! Today/yesterday was the first time that I felt sure that what I'm feeling is baby movements and not gas/muscle twitches. I'm just feeling it so consistently and it's a little bit stronger so now I feel pretty confident that I'm feeling baby. So happy

Going to Orlando Thursday! It’s going to be warm! And then SoCal end of feb/early March. And then my mom comes to visit for most of mid/late March, and then it will be APRIL! And then this baby girl willl be here soon. So I’m excited for time to flyyyyy by! (!!!)

My humidifier quit working two nights ago. I sent an email to the manufacturer telling them I'd only had it for two months and that it was unacceptable. They replied with directions on how to clean it (differently from what I'd been doing). I scoffed and assumed this was just a way to placate me. I cleaned it their way this morning....and now it works! Praise baby geezus, because trying to sleep without my personal humidifier was a wasted effort last night.

I started a new position at work a couple months ago. but have only been full time 'in' the position since after the new year. and there's been one job function that I've been avoiding doing cause I was just not confident yet. I actually took the step and did it yesterday. It felt good and I'm feeling more confident now.

My windshield wiper froze to my windshield 2 nights ago. Yesterday when I went to wipe my windshield my wiper snapped...not good...my windshield was a mess and I could barely see. Last night DH went out (when he wasn't feeling well) and got a replacement for me and fixed it

I’ve been working through a lot of things due to the state of my marriage. I’m learning that I really like myself, and that I like other things, too, like yoga. I feel strong and able to do just about anything on my own, and that I just need to decide if I want to instead of feeling like I can’t. I’ve been reminded of other really strong relationships.

This is is more intense than the post’s intent but, Lady Power, y’all.

@izza2 Great idea to start this thread. I think we could all use a little positivity

Living in the PNW, I am used to gray weather but I still hate it. We'll have rain for weeks on end, especially this time of year. BUT this week its been dry and about 50° everyday! So I've been able to get outside with DS everyday for walks, hikes and even a run. The highlight was yesterday when I took him to a Wetlands Nature Preserve and let him walk part of the trail and boardwalk by himself. He's 16 months and its the first time I've let him out of the stroller/carrier and the joy on his face was priceless

It makes me so excited for adventures to come!

Last night I cleaned up a bunch of stuff, and decided to paint my toe nails. It's not easy, but I can still reach to paint my toes

I'll call it a win.

I did mention to my H that he may have to paint them next time. He seemed cool with it.

Also we got the car seat in! I know some hospitals in the area are picky about the type of car seat you leave with {bucket seat} and idk if ours is, but still one thing we may not have to buy! {cats are a little distraught about it, but they'll have to cope - extra pets, scratches and cuddles for now}

I'm finally starting to feel movement that I am sure is baby girl. It's still not regular, but it makes me so happy every time I feel her. (Yea for an anterior placenta for the third time...)

My FIL came to our gender reveal yesterday and brought treats for all the kids and also brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I thought that was Soo sweet of him and it really made me feel good.

I wish I could say something nice about my cats...lol

I think my husband is nesting. He cleaned his side of the closet this weekend, cleaned the kitchen, and brought the bassinet up from the garage. I didn’t ask him to do any of this!

Aww I love this thread! I got home from Florida lat last night and we took our dog on the flight for the first time. On the way there she did horrible - whined and barked in her carrier and I'm the type of person who cares what everyone else is thinking (great, a whiny dog on the plane and very conscious of the muttering about me). Thankfully the flight attendant let me take her out and though she stopped whining she was super fidgety and annoying. It basically put a damper on my trip to begin because I was in such a bad mood of how she was behaving and was dreading the flight home.

Well on the way home I decided to break all the rules and just walk her through the airport and carried her onto the plane (I normally wouldn't do that, I'm usually a rule follower for fear of being "told off" lol). But I was so done with being anxious about her that I figured it was worth it. No employee batted an eye, everybody loved her and she slept sound on my lap through the entire flight! I didn't have to put her in her stupid carrier once! An amazing turn around

Made me happy.

Good thread idea

My positive thing for the week is I've been applying for new jobs with a focus on paid maternity leave and good health benefits (at one point I thought no one would hire a pg lady, but screw it, I have to at least try). And I got an email Tuesday saying one of my applications have been referred to a hiring manager. FX I get an interview!

@ffw0617 FX!!! I'm definitely thinking that I won't even really look for jobs in phx bc I'll be in my third trimester by then, but if you get a job, maybe I have hope!

ETA-my positive for the week is that we found the absolute perfect rental house in phoenix. We applied for it yesterday and the manager sounded very positive so hopefully we hear today or tomorrow if we got it. It is literally my dream house and I would be so excited since I haven't lived in a house in about 10 years. And Jack would have his own nursery! FX it works out.

I love everyone's stories!
I don't have any specifically positive things to share, not because my life is negative, but just because not much is happening here. Life is good, the kids are good, DH is good, so that's my positive for now.

My positive today is the vanilla truffle donut I fully intend to shove down my throat in a minute

But really, it's my husband finally getting excited and feeling like this pregnancy/baby are more real after the a/s and baby registry stuff on Monday. Now he wants to come to all of my appointments, although they're not nearly as exciting, haha.

oh I thought of another one. we have 2 baby name lists. one with just T names. and one with other names. Cause we can't decide which direction to go. We can't really budge on many of the names so we're at a standstill. I told DH the other day which T name is kinda sticking out to me more. he was just like 'eh. ok'. but yesterday he said he was starting to think about that name more! I'm not sold on this name but I feel like we're making moves here if he's atleast starting to get that name 'in' his head more!

I made a list of all the boy/girl names I liked, my H went through a scratched out what he didn't like and we both agreed that one girl name really stuck out for both of us after seeing what was left.

My 2.5 year old has decided to actively participate in potty training this week! My mind is blown by how much easier it is when I let her do things her way (within reason) than when I try to push my own agenda.

I've been struggling lately with maintaining a positive mental attitude. Yesterday did not help at all.

Today, however, is a new day. National pizza day, actually. The boss is buying everyone pizza and after I eat some, I am taking a partial mental health day involving a little shopping and maybe even a nap. Tomorrow I am going to tea with my SIL and having dinner with my dad.

I am turning this week around, dammit!

19 weeks smoke free! Quite cold turkey when I saw BFP on 9/29 (after about 5 attempts of quitting with every pill, patch, hypnosis etc over last 10 years)!

@kmurdock925 thank you, I am really proud of myself! I do remind myself when I get a little down that I may have gained a couple extra lbs. that I'm not only pregnant but quit smoking too.... Still stresses me a little but it's all for the love of LO and DH!

We got approved for the house!! So excited! And I think I found an ob I like in Phoenix. Getting all our ducks in a row for this move (that's happening in 2 weeks!) is definitely a positive!

Today my oldest had a snow day -- and my toddler woke up with a fever .... so, I called in sick and get to enjoy the day cuddling with my kiddos instead of at work!
Oh! And I completely forgot to cancel my blue apron delivery & didn't even look at the meal plans, but there's an accidental box being delivered today, with two meals that look fabulous!

@stephcat421 That's so awesome! DH is taking Chantix right now to quit but I just discovered he's been using the chew tobacco pouches to get him through. Too bad he can't get himself pregnant to kick the habit
