  • I love gardening, baking, and scrap booking. Also, if eating counts as a hobby then H and I like trying new restaurants and going for walks at the various parks.

Have y'all heard that you're not suppose to garden while pregnant? I read it in Expecting Better. It's due to the same bacteria that outdoor cats may bring into the litter box. I'm going to plan out our raised garden bed this spring but have H plant it all. I can't go the whole summer without garden fresh veggies!

@stothi What kind of composter do you have? We've been talking about composting but can't decide if we should do it on our own or do a local compost subscription.

@pourmeamocktail I use to love horseback riding! Read any good books lately?

@xxkberxx What a cool hobby! I was never very good at sewing so I'm always impressed with those who are.

@sreysaw17 Very cool! Are you using a tutorial for the felt book? I'd love to learn how to make one too.

@mrsadventure Embroidery is one of those hobbies that's on my bucket list. I'd love to learn how to do that.

@admiralkitty What is your first big piece?

@cbobell2009 What are your favorite things to cook?

@born2run911 You sound super active! I strive to be more like that.

@jjess1201 Oh, travel! Good answer! Any travel plans coming up?

@southernlady07 Haha I like that you said planning trips. Sometimes that's nearly my favorite part!
  • @knitknitread the snitch socks!!!! The absolute best!!!

I think we need to have a BMB knit along.

@AdmiralKitty Good luck with your first big piece. I've been wanting to try weaving but just haven't made the time.
  • @episcowitch Thanks! I actually put the pattern for them up on Ravelry (they're free). It is just vanilla socks with snitches put on with duplicate stitching.

And I would be down for a BMB KAL! After first tri, when I don't literally fall asleep with the knitting needles in my hands.

  • @sreysaw17 I have loved teaching my 5 yo to read! She has picked it up really quickly and I think a big part of it was reading early and often with her, and her seeing my enthusiasm for it.

@SkilledSailor Hahaha good point! :D I do love the actual traveling part too, but as a planner I really enjoy coordinating travel plans in advance!

  • I love to read, cook, bake, and dance. I can finish a book in a single day if left alone. I also enjoy meal planning. In my ideal job I'd meet with clients, get their food preferences and plan menus for them; I would also consider making said food or doing food prep, but that will never happen where I live. A girl can dream! Currently, I really just like having more than 5 minutes alone to myself without having a dog or toddler in the bath room.
  • I love making music! Singing, guitar, piano, anything. I’m really into weightlifting (I have an Olympic weightlifting competition this Saturday, eek!) and all the yoga. I’m in process of getting my 200hr yoga teacher certification and hope to be able to find a place to teach a couple classes. “Ohm”
  • @SkilledSailor our compost bins are super generic. Just a big lidded plastic outdoor trash can. Bottom cut off so it just sits open on the ground. Holes drilled all around the sides for ventilation. It can be a little difficult to turn the compost due to the shape and depth but I make it work. If we ever get a bigger property I want side by side bins with removable fronts. So you can start your compost in the first bin and then turn it into the next one and so on until you have finished compost in your far bin.
  • @episcowitch and @knitknitread seconding a bmb knit along, but we should start soon! My hands were toast after about 28 weeks last time with swelling/carpel tunnel. DDs little lovey is still on the needles :(

@SkilledSailor I heard to wear gloves when handling dirt generally, but not to avoid gardening in its entirety! Going to have to check that one with my doctor since she never said anything last pregnancy. We live on 14 acres and my garden is about a quarter acre. It'll be pure weeds if I'm banned from it. Thanks for the info!

On top of gardening and knitting, I love jeeping, snowmobiling, riding my motorcycle, and sewing. I have a clothing design degree and though I don't work in the industry, I like keeping my skills sharp. Currently patterning a prom dress for a friend's niece who wanted to buy a $700 prom dress that was essentially a pleated circle skirt with a fitted midriff bearing top.
  • @SkilledSailor @knitknitread I’m working on an 11ish yard warp that should become 1 babywrap and a couple infinity scarves! Super bright fun warp colors and then probably solid neutrals (natural/black/white) wefts. It’s an extremely ambitious first project but go big or go home, right?

  • @skilledsailor I read last week that you're not supposed to garden, but I really want to.. our neighbors cat uses our garden as it's litter box though. So..
@stothi Have you seen the compost bins they have at Costco? I've been debating getting one of those.

    Im loving everyone's hobbies!
I enjoy reading, anything physical, like hiking, biking, going to the gym, cooking. We also camp a lot. And my garden. Besides the warning about gardening already mentioned, im worried that when I'm super pregnant I won't be comfortable working out there, and our garden produces well into October and I wonder how much I'll be able to having a new babe.
  • @Redpuma119 I have not seen them. Do you have a link?
  • I have a photo

  • @stothi I like that they spin on their own. Well, they spin under man-power, but you know what I mean. Its just such a pain in the ass turning the compost.
  • @Redpuma119 the only thing I worry about with a composter like that, is how much can it hold? You really need a certain amount of mass to be able to build up the right amount of heat and retain moisture. It does look like it would be easy to add to, turn, and then remove the finished compost which are all big pluses.

  • @AdmiralKitty EEEEEP! A babywrap! That makes my heart so happy. That's going to be one special wrap to snuggle your baby.

I'm looking forward to getting back in to wrapping with a squish. I loved it with DD.
  • I really love to read, although I haven't been doing it much lately due to extreme tiredness. My sister, mom, and I were in a mother-daughter book club when I was in elementary through high school. I loved it and I think it was a great bonding experience. I hope I can do that with DD and #2 when they get older!
  • I love to read and still make time to do so. In my former life (pre child) I also sewed, gardened, and worked out 5-6x/week.
  • @episcowitch I just bought one of those! (Or something similar.) It works pretty darn good. I'm happy with it at any rate.
  • I love to bake, knit, do yoga, and pretty much any sports (soccer, volleyball, running) and anything outdoors (biking, hiking, gardening). I love to read and play violin, but I don't do these as often as I should!
@knitknitread I'm making my first pair or socks right now! Then onto baby things... I already have a baby sweater that I made last year to practice. :)

  • I’m a reader. That’s my biggest hobby. Sadly, first tri completely affects my ability to read.

I’m also a crocheter. That’s going to be a tough thing about being Team Green this go around since I’ll need to make two afghans for baby so I have a girl one ready and a boy one, too.
