Chart Stalk/Questions w/o 2/5

This is a thread where anyone can feel free to request a chart stalk, second-guess FF's interpretation, or post TTC-related questions, regardless of where in your cycle you are. Sometimes FF is wrong. That's where we come in. Get your second opinion here!

Re: Chart Stalk/Questions w/o 2/5

  • I wanted to start this board to ask if anyone who has experienced ovulation pain is willing to answer a few questions privately. I have a doctor's appointment next week, but I think I'll go crazy before then if I keep googling. Thanks in advance!

  • @meladams10 what kind of pain? I have experienced really bad cramping during O. Last month even HIO was super painful because of it.
  • @kristah2 Sounds like exactly my situation. I had really bad cramping on my left side and while HIO this weekend during my FW, 2x it was almost unbearable, but continued since we're TTC. It felt like something was being hit? I was just wondering if this is normal or if others had gone on to find things such as cysts, etc?
  • @meladams10 I have strong O pain each month, especially when I'm on meds for my IUI. Last month, I could barely walk I had to take an Aleve. I though maybe I had a cyst or something, but there was nothing when I went for my baseline U/S. Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want info.

  • @meladams10 yessss that pain! I could barely move it was so bad and HIO near killed me and I also felt almost like I was being blocked. I can't tell you if it's normal or not but I can say I have experienced it.
  • @RVAmom315 @kristah2 Thank you both for sharing. I feel so much better knowing that just because I had this happen, it doesn't mean something major is wrong. I'm anxious to ask my doctor. I did let her know of my O pain which I know is normal but I had never had pain HIO.
@RVAmom315 Have you ever experienced pain while HIO due to this?
  • @meladams10 Very rarely. Not enough for it to be concerning, but there have been a couple times where it'd feel like he was hitting something. Definitely ask your doctor.

  • @RVAmom315 I definitely will! Thank you!!
  • @meladams10, HIO during ovulation is often very uncomfortable for me.  I feel like my uterus is being stabbed.  I assume it is normal.  Nothing was "wrong" on my end, I was having ultrasounds and blood work at the time and nothing was coming back as an issue.
  • @holly321 Thank you for sharing! I had no idea that this could be a common thing, it's so reassuring to know others have had the same experience. So thankful for this forum!
  • Is it common to get ewcm very early in your cycle? I had it on CD10, today is CD12. It was very very obviously ewcm. I haven’t turned an OPK yet and wasn’t able to temp the last couple of days due to crazy sleep. I know it’s possible to O early, but that’s super early, isn’t it?

  • @dreamscapes_, I swear my CM does what it wants regardless of symptoms.  Any chance you are ovulating early though?
  • @holly321 I don’t know, but I certainly hope not. We didn’t have a chance to HIO until last night.

  • @dreamscapes_ Personally I would go by my OPKs. Have you had pretty good luck with them in the past matching your CM?
  • @dreamscapes_ I usually O on CD11 so its not terrible early. Do you have an idea when you usually O? Everyone's body is different and ive come to realize during this TTC journey that our bodies pretty much do whatever the F it wants. I would continue the OPKs and hope it turns soon! Hope this helps!

  • What brand of OPK do you ladies recommend?  I have used them years ago and had bad luck with them. But I get to stop BCP in one month(!!!!!) and I wanted to start using then asap to see if they work for me.   What hormone levels make them not work? My FSH was high in the past, i think I read before that interferes with OPKS.
  • @holly321 I've used the First Response as well as the Clear Blue digital tests. I would just be sure to get pink dye tests at least, or the digital. Pink dye tests are so much easier to read than blue and the digital tests help eliminate the guess factor. The digital are of course more expensive, so I try to use those closer to when I'm supposed to O.
  • @holly321 I've had luck with Easy at Home for cheapies.

  • @holly321 I've been using the wandfos and have had success with reading them. I started using them "early" in my cycle to get the hang of it
@dreamscapes_ ewcm can appear if your body is gearing up to O and then doesn't, so you could possibly have several patches occur.  You could also just be Oing earlier this cycle. For example I typically O around cd15/16, but I've had a cycle where it was cd9, and my last two were cd11 and cd8. bodies are weird...

  • @meladams10 I've only ever had two positive OPKs thus far (and one was questionable, even with a second set of eyes). So... Not really? Also, the cheapies I had bought online never ever ever gave me a positive, so I don't recommend that brand, to answer your brand question, lol. It was ClinicalGuard. I've used a couple of ones from the dollar store, but I've been using the CBA and CBAD tests the last couple cycles. I'm tired of trying to work out if the lines are dark enough.

@kobrien827 Not really. My cycles seem to be getting shorter, though (they used to be 28 days like clockwork and these last two have been 26 and 24). I'm gonna continue the OPKs and just start HIO earlier next month. >.<

@Avrilmai I haven't yet pinpointed where I "usually" O. My lady bits are annoying. Hopefully it's just a random patch, but if it was an O, then we'll try again next month.

  • @dreamscapes_ Maybe trying digital OPKs would be beneficial for you. It's so frustrating trying to figure out oh is the line as dark as or darker, or wait, it's lighter, no, they're equal.. I hate the guess work!
  • @dreamscapes_ Good luck! Ive also noticed my cycles getting shorter so who knows what thats about.

  • @meladams10 Yeah, I actually switched to digital in December at the request of the RE I saw, so I'm just gonna stick with them. It's so much easier. I can also brush my teeth or do something else while the stick is thinking.

@kobrien827 Thanks! And yeah, it's annoying. Hopefully it'll sort itself out and it's just stress or something (the last few months have been so insane).

  • @meladams10 I usually have bad pain with ovulation. This time it lasted a few days after ovulation which has never happened before. I ovulated pretty late this cycle (day 27) which is also not normal for me so I don't know if the pain is related or not. I was thinking of scheduling an appt with an OB too. Hope your appt and testing with your OB goes well.
  • Hi all, my temperature/ basal body temperature seem to be discordant- clearblue digital gave me a postive on cd11 but temp had already rose from baseline (there was then a second rise a couple days later). Has anyone had a temp rise before a positive opk? Which one is right?

  • @nasah15 Thank you for sharing! This last cycle I had O pain 2 days prior to my actual ovulation date. I'm unsure if we should be thankful we have this O pain or not! It is nice to know it's around... but it does leave a lot of questions! I will keep you updated after my appointment! Let me know if you see your OB about it as well!
  • Thanks for the OPK suggestions.  I am buying the easy at home, there wasca good deal on Amazon that came with Hpts.  I am leary of wondfos, burned me before with a bad batch with a false positive BFP.

It's sad how excited I am to be buying a new thermometer opks/Hpts.  I finally feel like I am moving forward instead of standing still.  I will have to have DH hide the bulk amount of Hpts since I have no self control.

Before I finalize my order... Bbt vs a regular thermometer is really no big deal, right?  I always used a regular thermometer, but maybe I am overlooking a benefit.
  • @holly123 I like having a basal on comparison because of it having two numbers past the decimal. My chart looks cleaner...but I've used a regular one before and it was fine, just a little more jagged of a chart. I could still interpret the chart easily. So I say whichever one you find that works best....ie: back light, storage of temps, quiet beeping, etc

  • I have questions regarding AMH levels and hoping some folks here know things that I don't. Hopefully this is the appropriate place for the question but if not let me know.

So MW has low AMH - hers was 0.2 which made her ineligible for treatment. Mine came back at 8.3 and while it indicates good ovarian reserve, it's also a marker of PCOS, right? I was googling around and found anything higher than 4 is a sign of PCOS. I'd been tested left, right, and upside down for it years ago (my primary care doctor was so convinced I had it that she had me do blood work, ultrasounds, and medications). I don't have it, though. But maybe I've developed it? Does that even happen?

My periods suck. They're different every month. And when I took fertility meds in the past I didn't have an awesome response. I had a few follicles pop on Clomid but never got pregnant from it. Even with moderate doses of Follistim I still only had 2 follicles when I had my successful IUI.

Yet W responds so well to medicine but her AMH is so low. I am so confused. I realize I need to talk to my RE about this but I'm just wondering if my AMH is good maybe I should do another injectables IUI? If it worked before maybe it will work again. But I'm also 4 years older than I was on my first rodeo. My weight is lower though, too, so maybe that would offset the age...

Ugh. I wish I was more educated on this topic. But I can't understand the research articles because I don't have a medical background so it's like reading Greek.
  • So, we came to see my ILs for dinner. We stayed longer than anticipated and got caught in an ice storm. We cannot make it home. I started clomid last night and have not taken it yet today. How much is it going to mess me up to take it tomorrow mid-morning and then tomorrow night? I start gonal on Tuesday.
  • @jrm_14 oh dear! I think you need to call the on-call number for your Clinic (as you’re on injectibles theyare supposed to offer 24hour advice lines). But there’s nothing you can do and you took the first dose on time. You have rotten luck with these pills - last month the reaction, how an ice storm...

  • So...I don't agree with FF. What do y'all think? On CD 29 I had the darkest opk out of the whole lot this cycle. The ones on CDs 22-24 were also darker opks. The rest on the chart were only as dark as the control....So positive but not blazing positive.

I guess I'm confused because my temps are not as high post O as usual (usually 98.0+), and I had that super dark opk after O? Any thoughts?

@josie12367 i think you may have ovulated on the 28-29th. Maybe your next BBT reading may give a better idea if its still high?

I think I ovulated pretty late this cycle too as my OPK was + on day 25. Im fairly new to FF so i dont know why it didnt give me crosshairs. It cant be an anovulatory cycle right with this pattern right?? Its so frustrating that AF isnt arriving. Today will be day 40 and ive never had such a long cycle!! Tested yesterday and it was BFN. :(
  • @nasah15 For your chart, based off the information you have, I would peg CD 29. FF gave you your date because of the positive opk. Unfortunately you're missing too many temps around O time for it to be sure.

Did you do any further opks around that positive one? Sometimes (like my chart) your body can have a hard time getting the egg out, or your ovulation gets delayed for whatever reason, and you get multiple surges. If I were you, I'd pick two factors to chart consistently so you know what's going on. So some do temping and CM, opks and CM, etc. Whatever two you choose though, be consistent! FF can be more accurate the more data you give it. Good luck! I have a feeling AF will start for you in a day or two.

  • @josie12367  Oops i actually tested OPK everyday from day 12 to 28 but forgot to add it on FF. So apart from day 25 i never had a positive. Thanks for replying. I really hope AF shows up soon. I hate being in this limbo. :(
  • @josie12367 Do you think O could have been yesterday (cd30)? There's a bit of a temp increase, but it's not huge, so I'm not sure. I can see what FF is thinking with O on cd28 but I'm not sure if it's really a big enough temp increase.
