  • @Austenista LOL! I can't believe some of the stuff people come up with. I can't help but think  'would YOU like to be stuck with that name'.

I'm for unique names but they have to be actual names and not made up.  Poor kids.

  • Okay, TTMA what you guys are doing for healthy snacks.  I need to be better about having stuff at work.  Maybe this is better for the what my pregnant self is eating thread?  We seem to talk about our junk food cravings there.

  • @sabby2 thin quinoa/rice cakes with almond butter
  • @sabby2 peanut butter with apples is a good one.
  • @krashke Yeah that's weird. Donating BM in general isn't weird but her presumptuous approach while you're pregnant is odd.

@sabby2 Cheese sticks, apples and peanut butter, almonds, pecans, yogurt.

I need to find something healthy that's prepackaged/grab and go for the kids and me. We're doing a lot of those individually packaged peanut butter crackers. Not the worst but not great.
  • @austenista What are some of the other names?
  • @krashke I love that some woman have such a supply that they CAN donate. But I'd be just as bothered by her pressure on you. I mean what makes her think you'll have any issues breast feeding to begin with? I'd have to find a way to tell her to just donate it.

  • @krashke I’ll play devils advocate here and just guess she’s been blessed in the boob juice flowing abundantly department (so jealous) and is trying to share the love.

Since you really don’t want it, I would encourage her to ask on her fb or local fb groups if there is anyone who could really use it. I think some hospitals take donations as well. A friend of mine whose son has some disabilities recently asked on fb for donations because her supply was dwindling and got a really heartwarming response in people willing to share.

I wanted so badly to breastfeed, I kind of wish I would have asked around and seen if anyone was willing to donate milk, but honestly I was hormonal and embarrassed that I couldn’t do it myself. If I can’t do it this time, however, I might try to swallow my pride and just ask.

  • For healthy (ish) snacks that are office friendly, I’ve also had cheese sticks, Cream of Wheat / Oatmeal, mixed nuts and fig newtons.
  • @llamamama14 I really like the sargento cheese and nut packs. I can't remember what they're called but I find them near the string cheese at my grocery store. It's half cheese and half nuts and raisins. Super good and super easy to just grab and go.

  • We tested out two carseats in our Pilot today. Infant carrier has to go in the middle backseat. DH took scale calibration weights at 5lbs a piece (we used up to three) and stuck them in the carrier. Whoo boy is that hard for shortie short me to lug that weighted thing from the middle. The good news is that they’ll both snap in safely and correctly side by side. The bad news is that I don’t anticipate I’m going to want to get out alone with these boys much when there’s two. It would be so much easier if I could just set one behind the driver and one behind the passenger, but DH is tall and can’t drive comfortably with the seat pulled up to accommodate the carseat. What’s crazy is that DH’s work vehicle is a Rav4 and we could totally fit a seat behind him in that one. We have 100x more storage in our Pilot, of course. First world problems.

  • @Austenista we are thinking about getting the pilot too but need to see how our two car seats will fit as well.

@sabby2 what are monster energy cookie balls?

@katie121209 I love our Pilot. It’s my favorite car I’ve ever owned. If you can, bring the carseat you want to use and put it in the backseat and make sure you’re happy with how it is. For us, I think when we get it paid off we want to switch to an Odyssey or a Sienna so we can get these kids in easier.

  • @Austenista she is totally blessed in the boob department and if I’m not I would feel the same way you did and find it hard to reach out so I understand her wanting to offer but it would be one thing to just mention it once like “hey if you need it let me know” and leave it at that. But it’s another to bring it up a number of times just assuming I will need it and want to give it to me 5 months before my baby is even born.

  • @krashke - I donated to the local milk bank (in Ohio) with my last child.  There were several restrictions - you have to consent to a blood test, you have to have a certain minimum amount to donate (200 oz I think), and they didn't take any milk older than 6 months.  If she's out of the donation window or doesn't want to take the time to do the paperwork, blood work, etc. she's probably pushing it on you because it is SO HARD to throw unusable milk away.  (Once you pump, you'll truely understand crying over spilled milk).  You work hard for that milk and spent hours with a pump to get it.  Throwing it away for any reason (stored incorrectly, spilled, thawed when the freezer died) is torture.  If she doesn't want to donate through a milk bank, have her check out Human Milk for Human Babies (https://hm4hb.net/) and see if she can donate to someone who will need the milk sooner than June.

That being said, perhaps you can tell her that you really want to try nursing on your own and that you understand if you supplement using her milk it may affect your own milk production (if you bottle feed her milk instead of nursing or pumping yourself) since milk production is a supply/demand thing.  If she's currently nursing I'm sure she'd understand that you don't want to screw up the process for yourself.

  • @krashke Two things: 1) I've started to accept that people around me have terrible memories and sometimes I think they are deliberately repeating things over and over to me, but in actuality they literally don't remember ever saying it to me before. It is maddening, but now that I'm starting to accept it, I find the repeat convos a littttttle easier. 2) I think you should just take the milk and throw it away. It sounds like she is really having a hard time getting rid of her milk, and if @mytinc is right and she's outside the donation window, she probably just can't stomach the idea of tossing it herself. Do her the favor and just throw it away for her lol. I know there will be a little bit of sting of letting her believe that her bad idea is a good idea when it clearly is not, but maybe worth it to just end the discussion.
