@Cowboycorgi If it makes you feel any better, for a 34 weeker we only set up like we would for a term delivery. Below 34 weeks we pull out all the equipment and usually put CPAP on preventatively for below 32 weeks. 34 weeks is my golden gestation that I stop worrying so much. 35 weeks you might even get to take baby home if their billi, breathing, feeding, and temp regulation is appropriate. FX you keep that little guy in for at least a few more weeks.
Why is it that whenever you feel like you have a good first name/middle name combo, you hit the google search to see what comes up, and there is always a porn star that already has that name combination? Or maybe I just pick really bad names?
I may be having trouble telling between whats hormones and whats reasonable, but i am still pretty sure offering to pay for something as a gift, and then complaining about money and having no timeline for the thing any time it gets brought up is pretty crappy. Especially when it involves the nursery for a baby thats due in less than two months. Thanks, mom. /vent.
@megpeg I can't even with that. Also, please tell me I'm not the only one who thought, "there's a p***y in her p***y" when looking at those. And I hate that word!!
@calecorvus Is it a crib or something of that nature? I would just buy it at this point and she can get you something else or pay you back when she is able. The thing about babies is that they come with a timeline. You already brought it up a couple times and if she keeps getting shitty about it, then maybe she wasn't that serious when she first offered.

I would just buy it yourself. I feel like people often verbally commit to stuff out of excitement that they either can't or just don't want to actually do in the end. Buy whatever you need. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be putting a crib together right at the due date. Nope.
We just got cable after about a yearlong sabbatical and I've been watching so much TLC. Between a marathon of "Hoarders" and "My 600lb Life" I have been realizing my laziness isn't so terrible right now.
With a name like that I wouldn't let Google results deter you. Even if there is currently an adult film actress going by that name it's pretty unlikely she will still be going strong by the time LO is old enough for it to get weird.
@mdfarmchick That sucks! I hope he feels better soon!
Also you asked me before to update about the postpartum doula. We found someone who specializes in preterm twins and is also a certified lactation consultant. She's also a nanny and owns a nanny service. She may be a bit more expensive than average because of all that (and we definitely got charged a twin rate, not sure what her single baby rate is just know it is lower--also we live in a pricey area so may be less $ elsewhere). Because of her twin and lactation knowledge it felt silly to go with someone else so we didn't do a ton of cost comparing. We signed a contract for 12 hours, (which is for 3 4 hour sessions) for $480 total, with an option to add more hours. It sounds like we are one of her smaller contracts (probably does more full on nanny stuff for people with more money to spend on this). I'm so relieved that I'll have some guidance and hoping it allows for a few shreds of sanity in what will surely be an insane time.
@cford08 omg soooo good, I just watched tlc yesterday, they have a show "seeking sister wives" and it was sooooo interesting I'm obsessed! I also love 90 day finance!
@sarahhedger7@antoto My mom had offered to hire her bff's husband (who does renovations professionally) to do the work I need on the nursery. So, since I took her offer seriously, I still need the floor and walls of the nursery done, and I have less than a month till the baby shower. I've so far only pulled up the carpet and cleaned the floor to try and figure out if the wood is salvageable or if it should just get covered back up (its probably getting covered back up).
Mom swears she'll have an answer for me tonight, but otherwise I have a work friend who's offered to help with the painting, and I'm sure someone in my network has the confidence to put in some of the click-lock fake wood flooring Home Depot sells (I have no problem with cheap flooring for a kid's room, lol. All I want is for it to be easy to clean). So, its frustrating that I've lost so much time on this, but I'm just about prepared if she backs out because she jumped the gun on offering to handle this.
@DDRRT1982, That makes me feel MUCH better! Not much has changed, very slowly bleeding dark brown with a little bright red instead of all bright red. My doctors aren’t nearly as impressed Ill be here throughout the weekend at least, but I’m happy the bleeding isn’t as fresh. I’m hoping they will do an ultrasound this weekend to check the clot on my cervix.
Besides that, I’ve finished two books, and the crown... missing my daughter terribly.
@Cowboycorgi thanks for keeping us posted - I have been thinking about you a lot!! The Crown is on my list to binge during maternity leave!! Is your daughter able to visit?
@amylonghorn, technically yes, but she has to wear a mask which I just don’t see happening. Our hospital is on flu lockdown, meaning only immediate family and anyone under 15 must wear a mask.
This week my daughter has been with my AMAZING cousin and her kids so that my husband could work instead of using time off to care for her. So she has been a little over an hour away. The nursing staff said they could make special arrangements to allow my daughter to visit me in a different part of the hospital as long as I am stable.
@Cowboycorgi thinking of you!! So scary. Hooe you get to see your LO soon.
I'm hardcore nesting and tiring myself out! I wish I could work half days. I'm a teacher and my students have too much energy for me. I wish I could take an after lunch nap
And I sprung a leak again. 2am this morning I got up to go pee, came back to bed and felt sploosh.
This time with contractions, but I could feel them. Another IV, more monitoring, more anti contraction meds blah blah blah...
things finally started to slow down after 2 separate incidents, so I’m back square 1. Glad I was at the hospital instead of having to get dressed and rush in again. Baby was great the whole time, so nothing too scary, just not fun to see so much blood.
Frustrated to not be home with my baby, but also happy to keep this one safe
There is no better day than to buy out both your Amazon and Target registries than the day you find out your husband won't be paid on Feb. 1 because of sequestration.
