FX for those waiting for results! I have my 10 wk appointment Tuesday... I'm going to ask about it then. I definitely want to have it done. I'm hoping for some peace of mind.
It sounds from everyone’s post that I’m lucky my insurance covers it because I’m not AMA or high risk. Mine is at 10w3d too so this coming Friday. I guess the 3 days makes a difference because I was originally somehow scheduled for Tuesday and they made me move it last week. I guess someone noticed my dates.
Mine's scheduled for the 31st when I'll be around 10 weeks. I'd asked about how many vials they would take and he said just one, which was a relief. I'll be doing other blood draws and the glucola tests the same day, and I don't do well with donating a ton of blood. Lol
Given my age and high risk factors it's already pre-authorized by my insurance company which is nice.
I feel the same way when I read about cases where the test wasn’t accurate.

These tests are over 99% accurate. However it is a screener, which means you do not get an absolute positive or negative result. If your test comes back with higher than expected odds of a trisomy disorder, and then you don't actually have the disorder, the test wasn't inaccurate. It is only giving you odds that you would then have to have additional diagnostic testing to confirm (cvs or amnio). You can have higher odds than the average person of your age of having a child with down syndrome for example, but still not have a child with down syndrome. That wouldn't mean the test was wrong.
I would love to read the relevant medical literature that cites inaccurate results about these tests if it exists though, so please post it here. I keep an open mind, but I only believe true medical testing. I don't put stock in stories from a Facebook feed about someone's aunt's friend's cousin or whatever.
@delujm0 ditto. The accuracy is pretty high, which is why I’m comfortable doing it. I know, irl (including my sister) a LOT of people who did just the first tri screenings (nt etc) and while yes - still a screening and measuring risk - sooo many who got elevated but then all was fine (but then it pushed them into a high risk pool leading to interventions - in my sisters case that inaccurate result ended up with a cs). And I’ve known 3 missed Down syndrome dx. So, we never did that... I wasn’t comfortable with the accuracy, and was unwilling to do an amnio.
Especiallynif if you are older these are more accurate.
I'm 37 so will be having the NIPT; doc said today I can stop by the office anytime after 10 weeks (I'm 9w5d today). Since I'm AMA, insurance should cover it. If they didn't, we'd opt to pay out of pocket.
I had NIPT testing done through Counsyl and actually just got the results today. I was extremely nervous about accuracy because we had a vanishing twin. However, my fears were allayed because both embryos were in the same gestational sack which meant it had the same DNA.
But under different circumstances, i read that inaccuracies in many of these tests can be attributed to pulling DNA from a vanished twin instead of the remaining one.
I had the blood draw yesterday and my doctor said 8 days, but I didn’t think to ask if that meant 8 business days or 8 days total. I really want the results!!!!
Had mine drawn last Thursday and got the results today. Everything came back normal! I'm so relieved. Being AMA is my only real pregnancy fear. My doc actually sent me a separate email through the portal before my results posted, because we don't want to know the sex. She kindly told me the results and told me not to open the results when they post if we don't want to know the sex! Love that she did that because I totally would have opened the results to find out.

My midwife will get the results directly and share with me. That sounds a it’s nicer than getting the link and results, including finding out the sex, while waiting for an oil change or in line at the grocery store... lol. Though I guess her communication could also be anticlimactic. We were team green before so big difference
I FINALLY GET TO GO FRIDAY. I am so excited. My doc made me wait until 12 weeks. Idky. Because you can do it at 9 or 10 weeks depending on the test. But whatever. Hopefully I know this time next week.
I just had the Progenity Innatal test done on Monday at 11w. I'm not sure when I'll see the results. My insurance wouldn't cover NT testing, so I paid for this OOP ($99) as a compromise. My concern is Down's, not sex.

My OB called with the results yesterday and all looked good and we found out it’s a boy! We’re excited. It was through Counsyl and we got the results really fast. I know other people have said the same
I’m waiting to get my blood drawn now for the Harmony test. I’m AMA this time so insurance will cover it. With my second, we paid out of pocket even though we had a loss due to Turner’s at 12wks before that pregnancy. Insurance is weird and picky as hell regarding what they want to cover.
I just told the nurse to call and confirm results are normal but to put the sex in an envelope and I will pick it up at my next appointment in 2 weeks.
I just left my doctor. He said 7-10 days. Wasn’t worried until he finished. And now I’m worried. Isn’t that silly. Just praying for a healthy baby. Like already love this boo so much. Ahhhhhh.
I just got my blood drawn for Panorama on Jan 10 at 11w. They told me it would take 10 - 15 days for the results, but I live abroad so maybe it takes longer if you're not in the US. I'm mostly anxious to find out about the health results. We've selected to find out if it's a boy or girl, so that will be a nice bonus. I'll be 37 when I deliver.
@ecwk my ob said they could write it down, seal it and I could come get it. DH was Home for a snow day though so I just wrapped a cute little brother out fit right away and took it to him to open. I just found out over the phone. Which was boring, but it was fun to tell DH. I bought one girl outfit & one boy cheap off amazon so I’d have it ready to go. A friend is about to have a girl so I’m just going to gift her the girl one.
I get it @ssthomps it seems my mw will tell me so I’m sure it’ll be on the phone, and the chances of dh being there too are slim to none. but if I got an email with a link I could chose to wait - which would be HARD lol.
Well see see what day I find out and what the day looks like, but I’ll try to figure out a cute way to ‘tell’ him since likely it won’t be together. I’m making a filled cake for the kids so maybe I’ll tell him with that too.,, or maybe an outfit or I don’t know.

I think it would be cuter to find out then surprise him with a boy or girl outfit or something. It seems weird to find out and not tell him then keep it a secret for like 10 weeks. It’s lying to him if you act like you didn’t know when you find out at 20 weeks.
I would never be able to keep it a secret from DH for 10 weeks, I would for sure slip, and I want to be able to refer to the baby by pronoun and name him or her so it would be no fun for me if DH didn’t also know!

I am not sure he will be able to go to the appt with me. I guess I can tell them ahead of time to not tell me, but I want to know. UGH maybe I just make him take time off to go to this specific appt. I don’t know. It was fun finding out during the ultrasound, so I kinda want him to find out that same way vs a phone call or the nurse just telling us. The suspense will kill me knowing there is already a test with the results.
They’ll call me and tell me over the phone. And I will turn around and call SO. Although I keep kidding around that I will blackmail him. Like I wanna massage. And some flowers. Etc. Before I tell him.
@ssthomps if it were me I would ask him what would be best. 1) he manages to take time off and you find out together asap 2) you find out at the appointment then do something special to tell him that night 3) both wait until the scan to find out
My doctor posts the results online but also calls. Last time I I just told the lady on the phone not to mention the sex until I could open the file with DH...and then I looked without him anyway. And pretended it was the first time I saw it when I opened it again with him.
