Re: Weekly randoms w/o 1/8

  • Already getting anxious for my first appointment after hearing about everyone else, but it's not for 5 more weeks.

Also, DS went to bed like a half hour late, but then woke up at 5:35 for the day (like 90 min early). Not excited.

  • Someone shared Oprah's speech on Facebook and now I'm just sitting here crying over my cinnamon toast. Damn that woman is inspiring!

@pourmeamocktail Yikes! Are you a coffee drinker? Sounds like you might need some.
  • @SkilledSailor sometimes I am. I'm starting with Dr. Pepper, because cold and bubbly sounded very important, but probably a coffee a little later too.

I managed to only listen to the last few lines of her speech, still a little bit of tears.

  • I intentionally set my first appt late into first tri, but I still get so anxious! Last pregnancy we were on a trip the first three weeks after our bfp and I kind of wish we had that this time around to keep my mind occupied.

Anyone else still putting a toddler in a crib? Are you doing anything to keep pressure off your stomach? I'm not overly concerned now, but this could become a problem soon...
  • @Patience7150 just do your best to practice good body alignment and posture. It’s amazing how much less kind to your pregnant body you’ll be with subsequent babies!

I put my toddler in her crib last night, and noticed for the first time ever that I'm leaning/putting pressure on my stomach when I do this! I had never noticed it before. I think combination of being aware, and I'm bloated af so my stomach is sticking out further than usual already! It's just for a couple seconds, and I can control the pressure and not lean as far if I need to, so I'm not concerned. We definitely want to keep my daughter in her crib for as long as possible before we transition to the toddler bed (we have the conversion kit for her kid), because we don't want her up wandering around at night!

@MandyMost amd @Patience7150 I'm short, with a really short torso, and our crib mattress is on the floor inside the crib. Not a problem yet, but I predict it will be within the next 2 months. Might have to put him in standing up and let him lay himself down.

    eta: weird auto correct.

  • @Patience7150 I just discovered the same issue! It’s fine for now, but I’m not sure how I’m going to put him in there in a couple of months. I may have to start just having him stand up and lay himself down. I’m also going to try using a stool- I’m hoping it will help with bending in a better spot and I can keep my baby belly over the rail. My wife thinks we should move him to a toddler bed, but I want him in his crib as long as possible! I feel like life as we know it will be over when he moves to a toddler bed!
  • Does anyone know @athomas20-2? Is she on this BMB? I just got a random email with a fb link from her. I’m operating on the assumption that this is spam and/or malicious link and definitely won’t open it, but also don’t want to just blow her off if we know her.

  • @pourmeamocktail Yes  :s I was working on losing weight since they were already getting a bit tight. The real punch in the gut was that I ordered a dress from Banana Republic one size up from what I normally wear for a wedding we're attending. Yup, that didn't fit already. Need to go two sizes up and a change of dress cut.

  • @SkilledSailor I hear that. The jeans I couldn't wear are too sizes up from my norm, and still couldn't close with a hair tie. I have a semi formal event (husband's holiday work party) in 2 weeks, so I'm going through my closet trying to remember what I managed to wear through 28 weeks last time...cuz that stuff should fit!

  • @pourmeamocktail Yes! I texted my husband this morning and told him I feel like it already looks like I'm 12 weeks pregnant. The bloat this time around is unreal. With my first (also September baby), I didn't have to order any new work pants because the bump wasn't visible until the weather was warm and then I just wore casual dresses. I feel like I'm only going to be able to wear flowy/baggy shirts to work until I announce...

  • @southernlady07 Good luck! My Facebook is showing me that two years ago I was 14 weeks along with my son. I literally look the same now at 5+4. But, I was in maternity stuff at 7 weeks last time too, so I guess it just is. Some is bloat, but I also know that even though the uterus is below pelvic bone, it's growing rapidly, and so I figure it's squishing intestines up and out already.

  • Oh my goodness... you ladies have made me feel so much better!! The bloat is real with this baby. I seriously look 5 months pregnant. I’ve just resorted to my LLR leggings and oversized hoodies. I’m only 4+1 so I’m anxious to see when I’ll actually start a baby bump and not a balloon.
  • I thought the bloat hit early with #2, but holy moly, I look legit pregnant at 6&2!!

The bloat is definitely here. My husband said something about my baby bump and I was like that's not a bump!!!! I feel like I already have to cover up at work and that people are looking at my stomach, but maybe it's my imagination.

I'm also concerned about lowering a toddler into her crib @Patience7150, and having her climb on me/elbow me and then me carrying her around all the time bc she wants to be held. I don't want to tell her no but I get nervous about things coming close to the belly.

Edited bc half my post was deleted

  • How do you ladies handle the nausea and vomiting at work? I’m a nurse and work 12 hour shifts. The nausea has become pretty bad this week and I’m having a hard time surviving my shifts without my coworkers noticing how terrible I feel! If it gets much worse, I’m not sure how I’m going to make it through these shifts! I’m half way through a night shift right now and have been sipping ginger ale and eating crackers all night.
  • @Patience7150 I noticed that same issue and now DH is putting him in bed. We do bedtime together pretty much every night so he hasn’t really noticed a change. I’m so grateful we have this routine so that I don’t have to think about it!
  • THANK GOODNESS I’m not the only one being SUPER bloated this time around. My 1st I didn’t show until almost 18-20 weeks....I’m 6 weeks and using the hair tie trick today...I thought there was something wrong with me haha
  • @pourmeamocktail the dog treat thing made me lol. My daughter literally cries at every. single. diaper. change. every. single. day. I'm always like, you've done this thousands of times, what's the issue?? I think she just doesn't like being forced to lay still because she's a busy body, but it drives me crazy!
  • Reading thru this thread is SO comforting! My jeans are super tight and I feel like its way too early for that! Everyone always says you pop quicker after you've already had a baby??
    AF Wife/ Mama / Brewing Baby H / Photographer
  • @do114 Have you ever tried the antinausea gum? I found it at Walgreens with the Dramamine and flying meds. I worked at a school when I was pregnant with DD and it helped soooo much.
  • @lucky2k13 Right?! It's sad that on U.S. standard, 16weeks is a long maternity leave. I'm self-employed and like my job so I doubt I'll take more than a couple of weeks off BUT I'm able to just strap a baby to me and get to work. I figure most jobs won't let you do that.
  • I'm also totally bloated and worried that people are already looking at me and suspecting things, but I think that's all in my head.

@pourmeamocktail the reason my toddler cried this morning: the adorable vest that goes with her outfit doesn't have a closure (like, no snaps or zipper). That's it. That's the reason.
  • @MandyMost Lol, I love it. I do my best to laugh at him when he's screaming about ridiculous things. Doesn't always happen, but I try.

  • Reason my toddler cried today: I wouldn't give her a cookie when she said "cookie", I wouldn't let her play in the dogs' water bowl, she had to take a bath this morning after a blowout over night.
  • @Lucky2K13 I am having some of those same feelings, too! It is hard coming back after such a lengthy break from work. I LOVE my job and don't think I'd personally be happy in the long run staying home FT, but I fantasize about getting to do what I do now PT instead of FT in order to have more time with my family. We are also on my health/dental insurance and like having the financial flexibility to travel, etc. with two incomes. If only we could just have the first year off...not too much to ask for, right??

  • @lizzydpt my DS has been obsessed with the dog bowls since he could crawl.  He likes to stick his sock-covered feet in the water and then immediately dump the water and both food bowls.  This happens multiple times a day despite putting the bowls on the counter several times. SO FRUSTRATING- but we have at least progressed from him eating said dog food and putting his face in said water bowl.

My random is that my DH and I started watching "Hand of God" on Amazon Prime and just watched hte season 1 finale last night and OMG i need to binge season 2 immediately.  I can't wait to gtfo of work and go home and watch. anyone else have a new good show to watch when its done? on prime or netflix

  • @Jyoung327 haha! DD had a week where she liked drinking out of the dog bowl, now she likes to run over and sit for a treat with the dogs so I have to keep people treats by the dog treats.

I loved the show The Magicians. Two seasons currently on Netflix
  • My DH is always high strung when I’m pregnant. I have no idea why.i think He gets stressed out thinking about adding another person to the family even if he is excited :#

  • My husband brought me home a chocolate brownie from chick fil a just now.. and it tasted like lemon. Not like a lemon pie.. but a nasty artificial lemon flavor. It was the closest that I've become to getting sick in this pregnancy thus far. I was like.. seriously?! I sincerely hope that all chocolate will not taste like this for me or we're going to have serious issues over here.
