Here are some ideas:

Read the thread with a big READ THIS FIRST in the title

Introduce yourself on the intro thread

Rename this thread something other than "ideas" like, I don't know, "gender reveal ideas" so people know what they're clicking on

Actual gender reveal idea - don't do one. They're tacky. No one actually cares how your kid is going to pee. Or, if you must do one, make sure that you and the father are finding out the sex of the child along with your guests. Nothing is stupider than being a guest at a "we already know what we're having but we feel the need to announce it in front of everyone we know at once and make a huge deal about it" party.

Sorry I offended you by wanting what I want. I’m actually not finding out the gender. That was the point of the gender reveal and this is my first child so i wanted to do something fun and special. You don’t need to be nasty about it. If you don’t care then don’t reply.

Then you reveal like everyone else did for 100s of years: The baby is now born, it's a _____, here's the birth date, time, and size. Boom!

No one is offended that you want to do this, you do you. People are annoyed because you posted an AW thread in a community where we have been getting to know each other and where we have an established etiquette for posting. Andplusalso, gender (the term you're looking for is sex) reveals are not generally a well received topic on TB. Finally, it may be fun and special for you but don't assume everyone else feels that way about it.

I think she was just mad that she's also having an intersex dinosaur. But yeah, a "gender" reveal after baby is born just isn't a thing. Like, you're just revealing the baby itself at that point. Glad that you @mrsbubbles-2 reported that.

I wouldn't call this cute, per se, but there was a hilarious video that my nanny sent me of a couple who had someone color a dozen eggs--6 blue and 6 pink. Someone else hardboiled 11 of them, and kept one raw (specifically choosing the correct color, so the raw one was the color of the baby's sex.) Anyways, the mom and dad alternated smashing the eggs on their heads until the raw one 'revealed' the sex. It was seriously funny.

ETA: Didn't realize this thread went awry/was a drive-by. Anyhow, people should watch this video, though! So funny! Also, I didn't read that the OP wouldn't know the sex until the baby was born, so obv. the 'reveal' will be in the delivery room, lol. I just outed myself as someone who may not read the posts all that closely. I have the same problem with email. Carry on.

I mean, TBH, we're probably doing a gender reveal because it's an excuse to have friends over and have a party and booze (for everyone except me). But y'all don't have to plan it for me.

Ugh we are doing a reveal party at DH's insistence even though I think it is cheesy and overplayed and also a logistical PITA. And now I just got slammed with a huge work project that has to be done between 2/8 and 2/15 when the party is planned for 2/10. I am only inviting my parents, brother, and aunt and uncle (all local) and not any friends, but DH's mom is flying in from out of town and he invited his best friend and his wife to drive in from out of town. I should totally just make him plan/handle everything for this since it is his thing, yes? I am terrible at delegating things like this to him, but it doesn't seem fair that I should have this added stress that I do not want.

@legallykate if he's anything like mine though.... he would do it all wrong and I'd be frustrated anyway. We had 50+ people at DS's 1st birthday party because DH wanted to invite everyone in the world. He didn't even know what we were cooking until the morning of because he'd just be in my way.

@legallykate That's the worst. My SO can't plan a party at all. And invites people not understanding the logistics and work that go into it. Hopefully you can find a low-key way to do it. If not, I say go for the egg thing. It didn't look disgusting at all.

But back to the baby reveal. Does this mean that the baby's gender is revealed sometime after the baby is born? Like until the 'reveal', you just have to refer to the baby as "Baby" unless you choose a gender neutral name. Or are you going to film some whole dramatic reveal in the recovery room and send it around to everyone?
