How many tattoos do you have? I technically have 3 but kind of 2.
what are they? I have swallows on my shoulder blades so they are 2 separate pieces but a set, if you will. They are black and grey. I also have a small Eiffel Tower with a heart on my lower left back, above my butt cheek. That was a very “I’m 18 years old” tattoo and can luckily be covered in a bathing suit.
Do they represent anything? nothing deep or serious, just things I love/loved Would you change them if you could? I have considered covering the Eiffel Tower one but don’t think I will. It’s a shitty tattoo that made me feel awesome when I was 18 so I’m gonna wear it as a badge of honor. For my birds I wish I had gotten them when I was a little older/my style was more developed (I was 22) and I had made them more detailed, but I love them. Are you planning on getting any more? yes! I had actually just found a female artist in Boston who is amazingggg and has a months-long waitlist when I found out I was pregnant. I was pretty bummed to have to hold off for essentially another year plus, but babies DGAF about your plans I’ll be getting a large piece on my upper right thigh that wraps around to my side hip. It’ll be my French bulldog in black & grey surrounded by my fave flowers (essentially my wedding bouquet) done in color in a vintage painting style with lots of delicate lines. I can’t wait to get it done.
what are they? 1. A small cherub on my right ankle/foot - got when i was 18 2. A large tribal tramp stamp *facepalm* - also from when I was 18 3. A sparrow and song lyrics on top of my left foot, “with a head full of dreams and faith that can move anything” 4. A few tiny birds and a quote on my left shoulder blade
Do they represent anything? #1 is in memory of a cousin I lost when he was 17 #2 means nothing and I regret it. In my defense, when I got it it was a “lower back tattoo” and was trendy. Today it’s a giant tramp stamp that I try very hard not to accidentally expose. #3 I got on my honeymoon and it represents my husband and I #4 is one I got with my sister - we each have part of a quote.
Would you change them if you could? I want to get something a little more ‘mature’ over the cherub. People ask my why I have a tattoo of a naked baby. Fml. I was 18 and I just picked a random cherub picture from the book. I would never change what it means but I just want it a little less juvenile looking. I would also remove the back tattoo in a heartbeat.
Are you planning on getting any more
Yes. I want something to represent my babies. Not footprints or portraits, I’m just not sure what yet and if I’ve learnes anything, I need to wait until I’m 110% sure.
Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!
@Mattel Hey girl heyy... add me to the tramp stamp club! Or as my husband calls it a “slage tag”.
I have one tattoo on my lower back that I got when I was 18. It’s actually very very low, like almost to my crack. So the good news is I don’t see it very often. It’s just a design that my friend help draw up for me and the tattoo artist made some updates to it. So at least it’s not something I just picked out of a book? I would probably get rid of it completely at this point in my life if it wasn’t so expensive and painful but it would also be nice if it was at least straight. LMAO. It has a bit of a lean to it which is annoying but it is what it is lol.
While we are on the topic of tattoos anyone have any body piercings? I had my belly button pierced but I took it out years ago. I also had both of my nipples pierced and took those out in college as well. I’m a little nervous about how BF is going to go with the scar tissue.
I have five tattoos. Three and a half that i regret. And not even regret. But would change just a bit if I had the chance.
what are they?
I have “Love” in an infinity symbol on my wrist that represents all of my kids.
I have Riley and Logan in an Celtic knot circled on my shoulder blade. Those are my kids when I was told I couldn’t have any more kids (7 years ago!!) (Both of these are pictured!)
I have a constellation of stars up my back. I have a tattoo on my back that says “God Knows we’re worth it” for just my husband. I also have an *adorable* hip tattoo of a hibiscus flower because my boyfriend at the time didn’t like tattoos and we broke up. So I needed to be a dick about it and prove him wrong. It’s not messed up or anything, but not anything that i would have chosen “just for fun”
Do they represent anything?
I have a couple that do. After my son, I was told that it probably wasn’t going to be a good idea or that I will be able to have kids after. So that’s why I got the closed Celtic knot of Riley and Logan‘s name. So that’s why it makes this pregnancy a complete surprise. my constellation of stars is because all of the big stars presented my present kids and my husband. A couple of the little ones represented the miscarriages. And then I have Tessa now. So I feel like she needs a big star. and i didn’t leave room in the Celtic knot for the new baby... so I’ll likely need to get her a tattoo all her own.
Would you change them if you could?
See above. I’ll likely get a tattoo for my new baby just because she won’t fit in my Celtic knot. So she will get all good One all her own.
Are you planning on getting any more?
Definitely. I really like tattoos. Mostly they mean a lot to me.
2. Small star - inner lip, Buddha - upper back, safety pin - foot, memorial tattoo for late bf - shoulder, Celtic cross - lower back, claddagh - ankle, shinedown symbol - wrist, half a heartagram - left hand.
3. Yeah. The memorial piece for my bf, obviously meaningful. The cross is a cross my dad brought my mom home from Ireland. The claddagh I got with my sister. They’re totally different but we got them together. The safety pin is a reminder of a friend lost to CF. The others all have their own personal meaning.
4. I probably wouldn’t have gotten the hand tattoo. It’s a long story. I sometimes regret it, but it’s small and doesn’t bother me. It’s a good reminder to a tough chapter I overcame.
5. Yes! I really want a half sleeve someday. I will get something to represent my children as well.
@JJMNO1616, I am over my piercing days. At various points, I’ve had my tongue, belly button, eyebrow, and sternum pierced. I’m back to ears only now.
what are they? Mostly my torso, but also one on my foot, and one behind my ear. I specifically got all of them in places that won't be stretched by pregnancy, and could be hidden for work.
Do they represent anything? one on my chest means "reading" because I love books. The one on my foot is a friendship tattoo that I share with 3 of my good friends from college.
Would you change them if you could? not really.
Are you planning on getting any more? I'm thinking after I am done with kids, I may get one for each of them .
Love everyone's tattoos! @JJMNO1616 I have my nose, my nears and a double tragus piercing in the right ear. When I got that done the piercer was like "you have a long tragus, I could fit 2 on there - I'll give them both to you for the price of one"....I was like 18 and said SURE! I want to put studs in there because I think they look prettier but have never even taken the original hoops out in 9 years lol. I forget they're there 99% of the time.
How many tattoos do you have?
3
what are they?
Left wrist - "Hope" written in greek surrounded by stars
Right inside upper arm - large lotus flower surrounded by jasmine flowers with a banner reading "rescue" in Telugu which is an Indian language
Right back of calf - the number "13"
Do they represent anything?
L wrist I got when I was like 17...was suppose to represent a verse in Philippians that says that Christians are suppose to shine like stars and bring hope to a dark world
R arm commemorates my trip to India in 2010 - I went for a month doing missionary work
R leg is funny - a local tattoo studio was doing tattoos of the number 13 on Friday the 13th for $13 a few years ago...so I got one. Means nothing
Would you change them if you could?
Nah - they all are part of the journey
Are you planning on getting any more?
I would like one to represent my nursing career - but I'm in no rush
Me: 27 // DH: 30 Married 05/21/2011 TTC Since Feb 2016 RE: Dec 2016 Dx: PCOS 5 rounds of Letrozole 5mg + Ovidrel + TI BFP!!!! June 2017 // EDD: 04/01/2018 IT'S A BOY!
How many tattoos do you have? 7 that I can think of without taking off my clothes to look. what are they? Highlights include a portrait of my late chihuahua and Hello Kitty dressed as Our Lady of Guadalupe. Do they represent anything? I got most of my tattoos for one reason or another, some of them more meaningful than others. The Hello Kitty was just for fun. Would you change them if you could? I have a puzzle piece that matches a tattoo my ex husband has. Even though I'm not 100% stoked about it, it represents a really big part of my life. Are you planning on getting any more? I'm not opposed to the idea, but I don't have any in the works. @frenchiekinplusone, your tattoo plan sounds awesome! @JJMNO1616, I had both nipples done and took them out in college too. I'm also a little bit worried about BF. Other than that, I have my ears, nose and a Monroe piercing that I can't decide if I'm too old to keep.
@JJMNO1616 and @keeksie84 I had both my nipples pierced in college and left them in about 5 years no had zero issue breastfeeding.
Only orher piercings I have are my ears. I got a piercing in my ear each time a friend wanted to get a tattoo.
How many tattoos do you have? Just 1 I got when I was 26.
what are they? It’s a infinity symbol with a cross that reads part of psalm 23.
Do they represent anything? It represented a new beginning in my life following a really hard time.
Would you change them if you could? Nope. I love it. And it’s rarely seen unless I choose low backed shirts or certain bikinis. It’s on my side where my bra sits.
Are you planning on getting any more? Yes. I have plans for 2 more as of now but don’t know placement yet. My so has so man we don’t even try to count. (Probably 40ish.). All on his legs or arms. It’s funny because if we go out and he wears jeans and a button down you’d never know.
what are they? It's zodiac symbol of a sagittarius, on my lower back where the tramp stamp goes but it's pretty small since it's just an arrow
Do they represent anything? my sign
Would you change them if you could? no I like it and it was a fun spur of the moment thing that happen in college when me and some friends on a night of drinking decided lets go get tattoos and piercings.
Are you planning on getting any more? not sure I would like to get the words Defy Gravity but no clue where I would want it.
Add me to the tramp stamp club. It was totally the cool thing to do then! That one is a Chinese character which means eternity. I have a butterfly on my shoulder blade and my zodiac symbol on my foot.
My zodiac obviuosly means something. I'm a cancer. The other 2 were for fun.
I wouldn't change them and i don't regret them. They are from my younger/carefree days when life was all about me. It's a nice reminder of my life before i became wife and mom.
I don't think so...now that i am older i would want something w meaning behind it and i honestly don't know what i would get. I thought about getting my belly button re-pierced after the baby (and after i get my abs back) but i dunno.
I wouldn't change them and i don't regret them. They are from my younger/carefree days when life was all about me. It's a nice reminder of my life before i became wife and mom.
Stuck in box- That's how I like to think about it too. It's funny when people find out about my tattoo and piercing phase because it's so hard for them to imagine me being "that teen". I have come a long way since I was the 16yo who went to Canada to get her nipples pierced and got my belly button pierced in some trailer park who knows where.... It just makes me laugh now and yes I was an idiot.
what are they? Across the front of my hips says "Denn die Todten reiten schnell"
Right ribs, a heart with "To Trust" written in script
Top of right foot "It does not do to dwell on dreams and further to live" Do they represent anything? The hips were my first tattoo at 18. It's German and can be translated to "for we and the dead travel fast." It's from a poem published in the 1700s that I still love. The ribs were a post breakup tattoo after my abusive high school BF at age 19. Refers to a line from Pearl Jam's "Wishlist" A reminder that not all humans are shitty. Foot is a quote from Harry Potter.
Would you change them if you could? No way. The hip one is getting a little folded with pregnancy, so who knows how it will look post baby, but I love them all still.
Are you planning on getting any more? I wish! I LOVE LOVE LOVE tattoos, but can never justify spending the money and my DH really doesn't want me to get more. I might get one for this baby, but who knows.
what are they? Shooting star on my left hip and butterfly on my right lower back (I think that counts as a stamp!)
Do they represent anything? the star is supposed to be where I’ve been, currently am, and will go in the future. The butterfly was symbolic of my name.
Would you change them if you could?
I might make the butterfly smaller or not have it; i echo the sentiments of them being a reminder of a simpler time.... the shooting star I really like actually so i don’t think I’d change it. It’s very small and privately located. In general, I barely see my tattoos and forget they are there.
Are you planning on getting any more? no. I am good with the ones I have.
How many tattoos do you have? 2 what are they? A treble clef intertwined with a rose on my hip and (*sigh*) a tramp stamp of a lily and vines Do they represent anything? The one on my hip is for my passion for music and playing. I got it my second week of college so it's also come to remind me of my newfound freedom and getting out on my own. The tramp stamp was ill-advised at best. Would you change them if you could? I really want to get the lower back tattoo removed but holy cow is it expensive. Are you planning on getting any more? I would love to get a tattoo of an oak tree, which represents wisdom and strength in Celtic tradition, and also reminds me of where I grew up. But I would want to get the tramp stamp removed first so I don't know that it will ever happen.
what are they? A small daisy with an ugly design behind in on my right foot I got when I was 15 A tribal butterfly on my lower back I got when I was 16 An eighth note that lies on the E and B line notes My husbands name on my left medial malleolus
Do they represent anything? The eighth notes I got because I participated in a lot of theater throughout school. I got an E and B note because they are my maiden name initials. My husbands name for obvious reasons and the other two were just cool at the time.
Would you change them if you could? I think about covering my lower back tattoo all the time, but it is really large as is and has dark lines so I would have to cover it with something much larger and probably full of color.
Are you planning on getting any more? Yes, I would like to do something for my kids.
How many tattoos do you have? 1 or 2, depending, two tattoos part of same piece
what are they? Two butterflies on my right shoulder
Do they represent anything? My brother passed away when I was 7 and I always thought they were a very free organism. I was 18 though and probably could have thought a little more about it and done something more special.
Would you change them if you could? They are still beautiful, despite being not so unique so no.
Are you planning on getting any more? Yes! I'm a marine biologist so id like to incorporate marine themes into a half sleeve that's unique to my specialization. I also want a chuck Palahniuk inspired one on the inside of my right arm - he's my favourite author and Invisible Monsters is my favorite book that always made me think deeply about inner vs outer beauty.
what are they? On the inside of my foot between my heel and ankle.
Do they represent anything? Yes, I grew up in CT, but lived in the Philly area for 10 years, 8 actually in the city. I fell in love with Philly and miss it dearly. We moved back to CT about 5 years ago because of DH's work. I got the Philly Love Statue tattooed on my foot just to remind me of the place I lived when I got married, bought my first house, and had my first two babies. So many good memories.
Would you change them if you could? I kinda wish it was a little smaller, but I'm not real upset about it.
Are you planning on getting any more? Maybe, if there is something I feel strongly about.
what are they? A dolphin on my right thigh (seemed to be a place that wouldn’t hurt and not noticeable unless I’m in a swimsuit)
Do they represent anything? Nope - everyone I knew had roses, I was just being a non-conformist.
Would you change them if you could? Nope. Like others, it was during my crazy youth. I was hungover, the guy (an acquaintance) was doing the tattoo on his porch, with h is 4 year old literally bouncing on and off him and the chair I was on. How much better of an homage to young and dumb could there be?!
Funny side note - the guy who did mine was in the skilled nursing unit where I work as a patient just a week ago. Small world!
Are you planning on getting any more? Nah. Maybe. Not ruling it out I guess.
How many tattoos do you have? 4. 3 large and 1 small.
what are they?
Do they represent anything? Leland and Annie are my son and daughters names (thigh tattoo) And the treble clef on my ankle is for my love of music. (And I dated a drummer in my younger days haha!) I love the ocean so I have a turtle, sea horse, and shells on my arm. It's not finished yet.
Would you change them if you could? I would change the rose on my knee. I went swimming a week after getting it done and it ruined it. (I was an idiot!!)
Are you planning on getting any more? I'm having a little girl in April so her name will be added to my thigh. It's only fair I guess
How many tattoos do you have? 5 what are they? I have two hearts and my grandfathers handwriting that says “I love you” on the left side ribs, a sun and moon on my ankle, an arrow and underneath that a quote that says “you keep me wild” on my right side ribs, and “I love you more” on my left inner bicep Do they represent anything? My “I love you” in my grandfather’s handwriting with the two hearts is for my grandfather who past away 3 years ago, he was my absolute best friend and like a father. The two hearts are like this heart(heart) it’s an abbreviation of an ee Cummings poem that goes “I carry your heart with me(I carry it in my heart). The sun and moon on my ankle is to represent my grandparents; my grandparents are my whole world(besides my mom) and my grandmother is still alive, but like I said my grandfather passed. If you didn’t know the sun and moon are always up but you just can’t see one when the other is up. So, whenever one is up and I can see it, that’s my grandmother watching over me because she’s alive and I can still communicate with her, but when one is up and the other can’t be seen, that’s my grandfsther because he’s no longer with us and but he’s always watching over me even if he’s not physically here. The arrow and quote of “you keep me wild” is matching tattoos with my best friends. The arrow is my hometown best friend that we designed together and my military best friend has “you keep me safe” on her ribs too. Because she’s a wild child, she always brings out the best in me, and I’m more of the mother to her, so I always know when to calm her down and keep her safe. Then my last one that says “I love you more” is a matching tattoo with my husband. He has “I love you” in the same place because I always tell him I love him and his response is always “I love you more”. Would you change them if you could? The only one I’d change is the one for my grandfather because it was my first tattoo and I was 18 and the guy did a crappy job, I want to get it covered up and get something bigger and better for him. Are you planning on getting any more? heck yeah I am! I had plans on getting more before I was pregnant but that didn’t happen lol, so as soon as I can and have the money I’m going to be adding to my arm, getting a spine tattoo and starting my cover up! And getting a little something something for my little boy. My husband has been finishing up his sleeve while I’ve been pregnant and I’m itching for some new ink
what are they? A large dragon from the pern series, Zelda hearts that match my SOs, butterfly and Omega
Do they represent anything? Yep dragonriders of pern was my favorite book series as a teen it's a scene with a Gold queen dragon flying in the sky, represents me breaking free of my family. Our Elda hearts symbolize the beginning of our relationship and the beginning of the game. Planning to add one on every year. The butterfly and Omega was my first tattoo and represents libra and balance.
Would you change them if you could? Nope!
Are you planning on getting any more? Yes! I want to get a zelda watercolor triforce with my kids names in each piece, plus adding on to my heart's, abd I would eventually like a Harry Potter one
Simple aries symbol in flames at the bottom of my neck on the back.
Do they represent anything?
A good friend of mine who is a wonderful artist was doing small pieces in exchange for some household appliances for his first place. I was 20 and we came up with the design in his parlor. I’m not that big in astrology per se but what I’ve read into it I’m a flaming Aries. Haha
Would you change them if you could?
Not at all
Are you planning on getting any more?
I’ve been wanting more for a few years now. Have had a few different ideas just haven’t found the right artist, time, or money for them yet.
Re: GTKY: who has tattoos?

I have a puzzle piece that matches a tattoo my ex husband has. Even though I'm not 100% stoked about it, it represents a really big part of my life.
Are you planning on getting any more?
I'm not opposed to the idea, but I don't have any in the works.
@frenchiekinplusone, your tattoo plan sounds awesome!
@JJMNO1616, I had both nipples done and took them out in college too. I'm also a little bit worried about BF. Other than that, I have my ears, nose and a Monroe piercing that I can't decide if I'm too old to keep.

I thought about getting my belly button re-pierced after the baby (and after i get my abs back) but i dunno.

what are they?
Shooting star on my left hip and butterfly on my right lower back (I think that counts as a stamp!)
Do they represent anything?
the star is supposed to be where I’ve been, currently am, and will go in the future. The butterfly was symbolic of my name.
Would you change them if you could?
I might make the butterfly smaller or not have it; i echo the sentiments of them being a reminder of a simpler time.... the shooting star I really like actually so i don’t think I’d change it. It’s very small and privately located. In general, I barely see my tattoos and forget they are there.
Are you planning on getting any more?
no. I am good with the ones I have.

what are they?
A treble clef intertwined with a rose on my hip and (*sigh*) a tramp stamp of a lily and vines
Do they represent anything?
The one on my hip is for my passion for music and playing. I got it my second week of college so it's also come to remind me of my newfound freedom and getting out on my own. The tramp stamp was ill-advised at best.
Would you change them if you could?
I really want to get the lower back tattoo removed but holy cow is it expensive.
Are you planning on getting any more?
I would love to get a tattoo of an oak tree, which represents wisdom and strength in Celtic tradition, and also reminds me of where I grew up. But I would want to get the tramp stamp removed first so I don't know that it will ever happen.
4
what are they?
A small daisy with an ugly design behind in on my right foot I got when I was 15
A tribal butterfly on my lower back I got when I was 16
An eighth note that lies on the E and B line notes
My husbands name on my left medial malleolus
Do they represent anything?
The eighth notes I got because I participated in a lot of theater throughout school. I got an E and B note because they are my maiden name initials. My husbands name for obvious reasons and the other two were just cool at the time.
Would you change them if you could?
I think about covering my lower back tattoo all the time, but it is really large as is and has dark lines so I would have to cover it with something much larger and probably full of color.
Are you planning on getting any more?
Yes, I would like to do something for my kids.
Only one
what are they?
Just one
what are they?

4. 3 large and 1 small.
what are they?
Do they represent anything?
Leland and Annie are my son and daughters names (thigh tattoo)
And the treble clef on my ankle is for my love of music. (And I dated a drummer in my younger days haha!)
I love the ocean so I have a turtle, sea horse, and shells on my arm. It's not finished yet.
Would you change them if you could?
I would change the rose on my knee. I went swimming a week after getting it done and it ruined it. (I was an idiot!!)
Are you planning on getting any more?
I'm having a little girl in April so her name will be added to my thigh. It's only fair I guess

what are they?
I have two hearts and my grandfathers handwriting that says “I love you” on the left side ribs, a sun and moon on my ankle, an arrow and underneath that a quote that says “you keep me wild” on my right side ribs, and “I love you more” on my left inner bicep
Do they represent anything?
Yes! I want to get a zelda watercolor triforce with my kids names in each piece, plus adding on to my heart's, abd I would eventually like a Harry Potter one

what are they?
Simple aries symbol in flames at the bottom of my neck on the back.
Do they represent anything?
A good friend of mine who is a wonderful artist was doing small pieces in exchange for some household appliances for his first place. I was 20 and we came up with the design in his parlor. I’m not that big in astrology per se but what I’ve read into it I’m a flaming Aries. Haha
Would you change them if you could?
Not at all
Are you planning on getting any more?
I’ve been wanting more for a few years now. Have had a few different ideas just haven’t found the right artist, time, or money for them yet.
