I wasn’t ready to drink until I was fully recovered, but definitely don’t pump and dump! There is a lot more known about how much alcohol gets in milk than what crosses the placenta.
Anyone try these? Regular ginger candy isn’t cutting it for me.
@legallykate I also thought I was going to want champagne to celebrate post-delivery, but I literally didn't have my first drink until weeks later. I was too tired, in too much pain, etc. and ended up waiting until I could actually enjoy it.
Anybody know if it’s ok to take tums? I think it is but I’m so paranoid. I feel insanely hungry even right after eating a meal so I can’t really be hungry. It’s so annoying and uncomfortable. I don’t want to just keep eating! I think maybe it’s stomach acid or something. Anyone else experiencing this?
@mac627 you can, but I think your max dose is less than the typical max dose, but that’s still pretty high, I think. If you’re pooping them like candy I’d move on to Zantac.
@mac627 tums are ok, but watch how many and how often and for how long. Not sure I understood your question though, you want to take them because you are hungry? Being pregnant can make you very hungry because your body is literally growing a human. I have been starving since the day before BFP... I can eat a full meal and then in an hour be hungry and have another full meal. I eat really healthy and no processed foods, so I don't ever stop myself from eating when I want to. I've been especially craving meat, so I've been making sure to up my protein to get all the nutrients that my body may be running low on. Make sure you are taking a good prenatal and eating healthy, and if you don't have morning sickness or other issues then I would say eat if that's what your body wants. Also drink a lot more water.

*lurker out of hiding* Hello!! Has anyone used anything in first tri for yeast infections? My doc prescribed A three day insertable Terconazole cream and per the drug insert and Google machine shouldn’t be used in first tri (unless the benefits outweigh any potential risks which I’m sure was docs intent as it’s a Class C drug-still makes me nervous esp since you’re shooting that stuff right up there). I see Monistat 7 day is also on a “safe” list too.
@elle11hawkins I’d definitely call my doctor back. Or the pharmacist. My GP Gave me an antibiotic that said do not use while breastfeeding and the pharmacist said it wasn’t a good one to take either. I called my doctor and asked him to change it. I was annoyed because I had told him I was breastfeeding my son, but whatever. He stood by it was okay, and I stood by my stance of, I want something safer.
Sorry details omitted, it was prescribed by OB, yes i have contacted OB regarding concerns noted by manufacturer and I was curious what, if anything, others used this early on for relief.

Did OB stand by using this medication vs. Monistat? If so, what was the reasoning? I would also check with pharmacist. They can often give you an alternative you're more comfortable with (in MN anyways). I used Monistat late in 3rd tri, but haven't had this issue during first tri with either pregnancy.

Ok ladies, I KNOW I took Gas X with DS and my doctor today said they don't recommend it anymore. They only recommend Pepcid! Ahhh! Why do recs change so much? Same doctor as my last pregnancy. Anyone else having horrible gas pains? What are you doing?
@Firemanswife11 I'm super gassy here. I'm still taking simethicone (GasX) for mine, otherwise I'd be doubled over in pain. I've been taking a daily dose for years and it's the only thing that reliably helps me. I'm not sure why it'd be bad, as by my understanding it's not digested or absorbed.
If your doctor is insisting on no GasX, try peppermint or fennel tea, I'm pretty sure both are allowed. They also sell peppermint gel caps (with ginger and fennel) that are enteric coated that do help. Just be careful on the #2's afterwards, as it feels "very cold and refreshing" back there. :P
@neeraja_k I was doubled over in pain a few times. It has waken me out of sleep. So awful! And yeah, from what I understand, it doesn't cross the placenta so I don't know what the deal is. I hope the gas just doesn't get as stuck as it has been. Lol.
I will be having a glass of real champagne on NYE and I agree that the drinking in excess is a problem. I would have a random glass of wine with my son and he’s as smart as could be but I also understand why people would be nervous to. It’s a personal choice!
DS born 04/22/15, Pregnant again 03/01/17 however loss due to PPROM at 20+6 weeks now TTC rainbow
I’m 7 weeks today and The Bump says baby is the size of a blueberry, .51 inches. Webmd pregnancy says it’s a pomegranate seed and .31 inches. Ovia also says half an inch and a playing die. So I guess WebMD is wrong?
Something I’ve been wondering... Are early u/s the norm now? With DS I never had one until my a/s around 20w, and then only one other to confirm something around 32w. But if I wouldn’t have had an issue, I would’ve only had one u/s for the a/s. **TW** Even when I MC I just had blood work done to confirm. Although it could be that I live in the middle of nowhere, where one has to set up an u/s at the local hospital and have the results read by the OB at the next appointment.
@melprop I think OBs like to do a dating scan, because just going by LMP isn’t accurate (and otherwise that’s all they do). So if that is way off the anatomy scan could be scheduled too early or too late to get accurate measurements.
@melprop with L‘s preg 3 years ago, I only had the As. With E about 2 years ago I switched docs and had a dating scan and AS. That is all I would have had, had there not been issues. I think it depends on how seasoned your doc is, where you are at, and what your insurance will cover.

@melprop around here (CT) at least, a viability/dating scan has been the norm for a long time - I had one with my oldest over 7 years ago. And based on my local they’ve been standard longer than that.
I’m guessing the technology is good enough, and ubiquitous so that it isn’t a huge major expense anymore. And insurance usually will cover too. In most cases there probably is no major need for it but in some cases it can be helpful - find out if there are multiples early, rule out ectopic, dating - f you don’t track ovulation, lmp can be pretty inaccurate and the longer you wait on an u/s the less accurate for dating. And if you need your dates adjusted it’s good to do so in case you run into the need to induce etc, to know exactly what the gestation is.
TW: For me my first mc was missed. I had a good scan at 7w and then went in for bleeding and discovered the loss. My second one I had an u/s at 7w showing the baby was measuring behind and I knew from my previous babies that normally I’m right on. I requested a follow up a week later and discovered the mc then. I was thankful to learn of it quickly that time, and not have to waitweeks to start bleeding, thinking all was good etc.
and then some do extra extra testing in the first tri which also includes an u/s.
@melprop are you in Canada ? At least where I’m from ( the east coast) you only get one ultrasound at 20 weeks, unless you’re high risk. If you don’t have regular cycles they will sometimes also order a dating ultrasound around what you believe is 11-12 weeks. Any other ultrasounds you want need to be paid for at a private clinic
I’m high risk so I get more but many of my non high risk friends here in NY get dating, nuchlo at 11-13 wks, A/S at 18-20 and maybe one more for measurement later on.

Sorry, kind of entering in the middle of a conversation here, but I have a question. (I don't have a lot of input on early scans, anyway. Not sure the norm.)
We have been remodeling an older home since about May and we're at the point where it's time to start painting the bedrooms. We picked out paint today and want to paint my son's room tomorrow. Well, I won't be painting. My husband will. I'm a little nervous to do it this early. I painted when I was pregnant with DS but it was later on. I am pretty sure it's OK for me to be "in" the house when he's painting. Everything online says new paint is fine and there's almost no risk. I'm sure my OB would say the same. What would YOU do? Leave? Stay?
@Firemanswife11 was it you who said you know a lot about EO? I just took a bubble bath without thinking about it, well it had lavender in it. Now I was in the tub less than 30 minutes. Should I be worried, inter webs is giving me conflicting info.
*lurking from Sep ‘18* @Firemanswife11 I’m also in the middle off remodeling our house, which has involved painting. I personally would be okay with staying in the house, just make sure it’s well ventilated. You can also purchase low or no VOC paint.

Lavender is pretty safe, considering. Just don't do it again now that you know. A few drops here and there are probably not going to hurt anything, especially when that is an oil that's considered one of the safest for all ages.

Remodeling is crazy. Our house was built in 1965, and we moved here after living in two new builds. I'm enjoying it, but I'm sure I've been exposed to all kinds of icky things when we were tearing out walls and stuff. I just try not to think about it.
I’m sure the before & after transformation is going to be beautiful! My remodel isn’t as big as yours but it’s been fun. Our current project is framing at the windows with a craftsman trim to match the doors. We are repainting the entire house, including the ceilings, and it’s been slow going. My husband hates painting and I don’t blame him with how much he has to do.

We’ve been remodeling the basement. Or finishing it, to be exact. Adding more bedrooms and another bath. Kids will all be downstairs! Yay!! Except baby. Lol.
Anyways, they did drywall mud and ceilings AND paint this week, while I’m out of state on vacation. Just knew the smell would kill me. Even if it was well ventilated. It would give me a headache. Everything does while pregnant.
Im excited to go back Tuesday and see the final product plus go pick out carpeting. Getting to the fun part!!
@ecwk. Raspberry tea is suppose to be good for your uterus. Supposably your suppose to be cautious with large quantities in third trimester so you don't go into labor early. They also make maternal teas. I have one called get maternal from be well teas. It's pretty good.
