Hi! First time poster but long time lurking on the IVF boards! A little background on us: We have unexplained infertility issues (DH 28. Me 29) Married 2014/ TTC 3 years. Dec 2016-Feb 2017: 3 rounds of IUI BFN. <mental break for a couple months> May 2017- began IVF process. 1st FET Sept 2017 - CP. 2nd FET 12/06- BFP 1st Beta (9dp5dt) 284 2nd Beta (12dp5dt) 1584
1. 5W5D with EDD 8/24/17 2. Sore boobs, so tired and naseous 3. Our first appointment is this Friday, 12/29 4. I am super worried that Friday will show that it's not a viable pregnancy... I basically have freaked out whenever I feel any cramps or see any spotting (which has happened 3X already but my RE says its probably due to the progesterone inserts + increased blood flow to the uterus) 5. I am mainly watching the inside of my eyelids
@hreason1114 welcome! I felt the same way - I had some twinges that felt like ovulation pain and some spotting too and it freaked me the heck out with my history, but my RE gave the same explanation and it ended up being nothing. Hope it’s the same story for you! GL at your appointment!
@hreason1114 I symptom spot like it’s my freaking JOB right now, so I know what it’s like. Every time I go to the bathroom I analyze the toilet paper and then feel ashamed because it’s borderline insane to spend that much time watching every move of one’s vagina, you know? But just try to get me to stop. Not happening
Today was my first appointment for bloods and an ultrasound. Thankfully the nurse was able to make out a teeny tiny sac - just a black dot near the center of my uterus, so not an ectopic like I kept fearing. HCG was 1005 and I’m at about 20 days post ovulation (EDD 8/30/18). Progesterone was nearly 12 which is on the low side (10 is their minimum) so I’m on the lovely progesterone suppositories twice a day until they say to stop. Bloods again on Friday and if everything doubles like it should, I have an appointment for an ultrasound a week from today.
@sarcasticowl I completely understand lol I check the toilet paper every single time! Congrats on good news today! Those suppositories are FUN haha I take them 3x day
Welcome ladies!!! I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and still look at my toilet paper haha I don’t know if that makes you feel any better. Glad you all are here... I tried the unisom and b6 combo but eventually went to nausea meds (reglan) since I was throwing up all day.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
***lurking*** Welcome! @hreason1114 your story sounds not unlike mine. We were more or less NTNP from mid 2015, actively ttc from late 2015 on, started ivf mid 2017. Our first FET ended in a CP in November, but hoping for better news as I wait for beta on my second FET now! After all ypuve been through, happy to see you on the other side. Wishing you all the sticky thoughts!!!! ❤
@Holls214 did you ever go off the Reglan? Did the nausea naturally subside after the first trimester? I’m 12 weeks today and no signs of it slowing down for me. Luckily I haven’t been vomiting so they haven’t put me on any meds. I’m just hoping this is close to the end for me.
AFM I’m getting an intralipid infusion tomorrow that’s supposed to neutralize any natural killer cells. I don’t usually see ladies here posting about that but in my research I’ve found a whole group of ladies that are on this protocol and I guess my doc thinks I may be in that category- he did give me this same IV during one of my monitored cycles previously. However he’s still on vacation and I can’t wait to actually speak to him directly. I asked to have my progesterone tested and the woman (I’m not even sure what her qualifications are- RN? Tech?) says that’s not something they usually test for??!? Has anyone ever heard of this. My controlling nature is having a hard time sitting back right now.

@lablover78 I had an intralipid infusion today. It was my second one (did one before my last FET, which didn’t take unfortunately). We have no reason to think I have NK cell issues but I had some ordered previously and we figured why not, it can only help. As for not testing for progesterone, WHY NOT? You’re still with your RE so this should be something they test for during each blood draw along with TSH and estradiol. Good grief. You should be able to talk to a nurse manager if you don’t get an answer that’s anything other than “sure, we can add that.” Gahhhhh.
@rainbows2018 I’m still on the meds but going to try lowering the dose this week and slowly get off of them. A couple of times I forgot to take them and ended up getting sick. One time driving down the freeway. Nothing like puking into a bag while driving... haha. My doctor office quit testing progesterone after we were in the 30’s mark and said that was good. That was at like 5-6 weeks I think. I took suppositories until week 12 though. Good luck @BusinessWife!

@BusinessWife yes! A natural BFP after 4.5 yrs TTC. I’ve had zero pregnancies despite many monitored/medicated cycles. My RE would not do IVF originally b/c he suspected an implantation issue and did not feel it would be successful. After a full year off of seeing any drs I returned to him and he had tried out a new protocol that he had done successfully with 8 patients and felt I was a good candidate. I already have my IVF meds in my closet as we are all OOP and I’m a type A psycho and wanted to be ready to go 1/12. Needless to say I’m still in shock & sort of having a hard time embracing the pregnancy b/c I’m so afraid I’m going to wake up from a dream.
@sarcasticowl ok thank you- I will ask for a progesterone level again tomorrow!

Me too - checking the toilet paper every time. I keep saying 'I will feel better after the first us' and 'I will feel better after the first tri' but coming from the IF world we have just seen too much.

@Crystal321 how have you been feeling? Has the sch stopped bleeding?
@laurad75@sarcasticowl@lablover78yes we will never stop worrying - right after the beta, you worry about the 6 week scan, then the 8 week, then moving to your ob, I just did my NT scan today and now I have to wait for the NIPT results...although the tech said that the neck measurements were perfect, so I'm less worried, but still. I just want to be out of the first tri already and not act like I'm hiding something. I (we all did) had such a hard time getting pg to begin with (hi, I'm 41, and this is the first time I've ever conceived) and this IVF and FET was so easy that I'm constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. I wonder what the 2nd tri holds for us hopefully we get regular mom worries and can put this IF stress behind us.
@coco305 exactly!! I think though we will always have the scars...that’s how a girl I met who had success with my RE described it to me- that IF now feels like a scar rather than an open wound. She posted something in a FB group for MTHFR thanking my dr and I commented on the post and she started private messaging me and wanted to meet up for lunch. It was SO sweet and I enjoyed meeting her but it was clear she was desperate to “pay it forward” with regard to her success and just wanted to be able to help someone else going through it. I think we will all be able to turn our grief into good one day - at least I’m hoping to!

Moving over here from December IVF. Just got my first beta today at 12dp3dt. Hopefully I am not jumping the gun here. My story is as follows:
TW started fertility initial tests in October 2012 after 2 years of trying. and found I have a blocked tube- was sent to a specialist and the month I was supposed to go in for a repeat HCG to try to unblock tube I ended up pregnant. Have 4 year old daughter. End TW
fast forward to 2017- I am now 38 and DH is 49. we had been trying for number 2 for another 2 years.
2 cycles with clomid unmonitored 5 IUIs and 1 cancelled cycle (TW first iui ended in CP at 4 Weeks 3 days End TW) and IVF with ICSI and AH- had 14 eggs- 10 mature- 4 fertilized. Transferred 2 8 cell on day 3 and the remaining two did not make freeze. We are OOP so this was it for us.
Beta is 136 but progesterone is just under 12. Already take crinone 2 x a day - RE adding PIO. Next Beta is on 1/2
I am hopeful I will get to stay over here!! Congrats everyone.
guess I have to say lurking since I'm technically 2nd trimester but it's still hard to believe. @laurad75 love that chart I'm 17wks and I still check the toilet paper and pray every time!!! Granted I've been spotting since week 7 from the sch but still scares the hell out of me.
i think a couple of u have an sch and it's first this past week that I'm hoping and praying the spotting is letting up!
im still suffering from nausea it seems never ending BUT I've been throwing up less which is exciting! And play it day by day. The meds haven't helped me so I don't take them...however my RE and OB both told me about meds and diclegis regardless if I was throwing up or not. The constant nausea is debilitating regardless!!
good luck to all the upcoming betas and ultra sounds.

@hopefulmom my RE did a TON of blood work that my 1st RE and prob most don’t do but I’m not sure if it was typical immunology testing based on my research. My TNF (tumor necrosis factor) was undetectable when I started going to him and he did not like that. I thought I remember reading that the ladies on the immunology protocol has the opposite problem but honestly it’s been a year and I can’t really remember. The intralipid IV is some soy based liquid. Maybe @sarcasticowl can explain better.
AFM I bullied the gal into testing my progesterone today and it came back at 26.99 which she’s said was on target and scheduled my GB swab (? I think) and 1st ultrasound for 1/11 as my RE was booked next week. It feels like an eternity! Also I’m constantly like oh no is that cramping? Oh just gas? Ok cool.....Also came down with a terrible cold but just thankful it’s not this flu that has been taking ppl out.

@coco305 Yes! We had success with our very first transfer
and I was like ‘uh oh, that was too easy’.
In what universe is 18 months of treatment 3 useless egg retrievals, and
the drama of donor egg IVF easy. IF has
made me completely delusional. While
ladies in my BMB are like ‘I can’t imagine why anyone would keep POAS – if you’re
pregnant, your pregnant’ (I’m paraphrasing in a major way). I am so envious of their optimism.

@coco305 thanks for asking! Yes, it is dissolving now, it's still there, but slowly fading and my restrictions have been lifted.
Of course during all of that mess, I developed a nasty infection where I was taking my PIO shots. The antibiotics killed most of the infection, but I had to get the rest cut out along with some damaged/dead fat tissue. So now I am off bedrest and pio shots, but having to do wound care lol.
Moral of the story, move those pio shots around! It was either one of the needles got dirty or just that I irritated the same spot too much, they don't really know.
@Crystal321 ouch that sounds painful sorry u had to go through that! Glad things have improved and u have less restrictions but still remember to give yourself some TLC!!
@lablover78 I'm impressed ur RE did the extra blood work that's awesome! My RE refused as "they don't believe in it" and referred me to a dr who specializes in immunology. TW I MC twins in Jan (17) after having an US and seeing everything was perfect and fine earlier that day and for all hell to break lose at night. I wanted answers as to why and what went wrong to fix for the future as it was my first pregnancy that took quite some time to even get to. Still all testing came back normal. My acupuncturist mentioned having my NK cells tested so that's where my immunology door was opened. Its unfortunate you need so many drs and tests through this process!! Im always interested in others protocols and process as I still put the other dr on hold....always praying I won't need that visit! Thrilled u got ur progesterone tested it's important especially in the beginning! I asked my dr about retesting and he mentioned in the 2nd trimester it's not necessary but I'm always concerned! It helps supports u so of course they should be testing that! US does seem so far away excited for you!! @laurad75 exactly ur story is y I can't be on the bmb boards my constant worry would just be laughed at. I love the ones that mention how they bought all these ovulation kits ready to need to try every trick in the book to get pregnant and just on the first try it happened. They just relaxed and had fun...wonder y I didn't try that.

P.S., the grammar in that article is atrocious because I assume they’re not native English speakers but if you can muddle through you get a sense of what’s used to combat early losses. Intralipids are ordered as part of the standard IVF protocol at my RE’s office, probably because they don’t hurt most people (some women with egg/soy allergies can’t have them and some people just don’t tolerate them) and can only benefit the growing pregnancy. Coming from the IF world, I’m all about throwing the kitchen sink at everything if I can!
question- how early did you all have your first ultrasound? We are 6 weeks exactly today and had ours! It was exciting and we got to see the embryo/amniotic sac etc but the tech couldn’t get the heartbeat to measure. Our RE was also in the room and reassured us she could see the heartbeat just fine on the monitors and it’s completely normal to not be able to hear it at this point we go back Tuesday for another ultrasound... so I just wanted to know what others experienced! Thanks!
@hreason1114 that's so exciting. We are scheduled for our first us next Thursday and I will be 7+3. I can't wait.

guess I have to say lurking since I'm technically 2nd trimester but it's still hard to believe.
The constant nausea is debilitating regardless!!
good luck to all the upcoming betas and ultra sounds.
ladies mentioningbthe nk cell what is it that your taking? Have u both done immunology testsung? @lablover78 @sarcasticowl
@BusinessWife are u POAS? Excited for ur beta!!

@Hopeful_mom Possibly.... ;) ;) YGPM

We had success with our very first transfer and I was like ‘uh oh, that was too easy’. In what universe is 18 months of treatment 3 useless egg retrievals, and the drama of donor egg IVF easy. IF has made me completely delusional. While ladies in my BMB are like ‘I can’t imagine why anyone would keep POAS – if you’re pregnant, your pregnant’ (I’m paraphrasing in a major way). I am so envious of their optimism.
@bpietronicco Congratulations and welcome!
