December IVF anyone???

Re: December IVF anyone???

  • @mandurz Wow, that is an interesting protocol! I've never heard of one like that. I have seen ladies do a mini-IVF on femara or Clomid + Gonal F, but not all together + menopur. Do you mind if I ask what the decision making behind the protocol was?

  • @mandurz Yay for moving forward!!

So I’ve noticed my stomach has been super upset since I started with the shots anyone else get these side effects from Gonal or Low Dose HCG? Like bad gas/crampy and SORRY FOR THE TMI gotta go poop a lot? I’m just curious Bc maybe it’s not the meds and it’s a bug or fighting something.

Next monitoring app is tomorrow morning, I’ll ask my nurse too if it doesn’t subside.
  • @mandurz I was going to ask the same thing as @tosh24! I haven’t seen protocol like this and curious as to why and what they are expecting! Congrats on getting a date for ER! 2018 is going to be so good for all of us ladies!
@ndz2018 I did have gas.. I have really interesting stomach issues so I always take a probiotic daily. That has helped me but I did notice an increase in gas during all injections.
  • @ndz2018 I don't remember ever having any GI upset with Gonal F (but my dose was only ever 100-125 IU - don't know how much you're taking). HCG can upset your stomach but I'm not sure if the low dose stuff does. I've only ever had a bigger quantity for triggering. I felt a lot of period-like cramping when I would stim for my IUIs because I generally had a good response, but I don't remember bowel upset.

  • It's a modified minimal stimulation protocol but for me. The first stimulation cycle I did 3 years ago we learned I am a slow and steady responder. They are jump starting my response with the pills. I will take 2 clomid everyday until trigger, will only take 2 femera for 5 days then stop. On the 27th we will add the menopur everyday (I think) until the trigger, but gonal f only every other day.

It takes my ovaries a bit to jump start BUT when they get going, they go crazy. So the hope is better quality less quantity. 3yrs ago I started immediately with menopur and gonal for every day and we upped the gonal f and then the damage was already done, way too many and lowered the dose and added ganarelix and ended up with 25 eggs but only 4 embryos make it to day 5. So with a slow and steady approach the goal is probably still 4 good day 5 embryos but not get 25 eggs from the retrieval, maybe 8-10.

  • @mandurz I’m so sorry youre going through this again but I am so glad the doctors know how your body responds and are helping you to get quality embryos! That is the point of all this anyways  best wishes! Keep us in the loop!!
  • @mandurz exciting! Glad they are able to find what works for you!   I got 14 eggs but only 4 made it to day 3 so I wonder if something like that would have worked better for me getting better quality. They kept raising my Gonal-f.   On the last day of stims I was at 450 along with 2 powders of menopur.
  • So Idk if I had a little stomach bug but I feel Much better today!! At the clinic now getting blood work and ultrasound . Hope things are progressing!!!
@mandurz Interesting, but so glad they know a protocal on your body’s response!
    @krenee124 How are you feeling???
    @bpietronicco When’s they beta?
@tosh24 when is your tentative date to start stimming?
  • @mandurz So interesting, thanks for explaining! I hope this protocol gets you exactly what you and your doctor want.
@ndz2018 I went in for my baseline this morning. U/s was good, just waiting to get b/w results to confirm that I can start stimming tonight :)

  • @tosh24 YAY!  What meds are you doing?

AFM, everything looks good we got eggs growing didn’t get the measurements because honestly it’s not gonna change the way I respond Or make more knowing these things but what she did say is I am Responding perfectly and I’m exactly where she wants me to be! Adding Cetrocide in tonight and back on Sunday and Monday for more BW and US!
  • So glad to hear everyone is moving right along! @ndz2018 i am so glad you’re responding “perfectly”! thanks for asking about me. I had another 3.2 liters drained today! Doctor said this will keep happening we just don’t know to what extent but it was less than last time which is great. Max draining they will do is 3 times. So i hope i don’t need it again and if i do that’s the last! Full on electrolytes, rest, and protein from here on out!
@tosh24 good luck with starting stims tonight!! Keep us updated!
  • @krenee124 I hope that you continue to get better. I couldn't imagine how bad you feel physically.

  • @ndz2018 I'm on 200 Puregon and 75 Menopur. Just did my first injections at 9 pm. They don't bother me any but DH almost faints every time he sees a needle...good thing it's me doing the shots and not him or any hope for a baby would be out the window LOL!!! I had acupuncture today and I talked my acupuncturist into seeing me on Sunday morning again even though she had the day off (but I have to drive an hour to her house....oh well). I go back Tues for my next monitoring appointment. FWIW, I also didn't ask about my results today. If the doctor says everything is good,  then I'm going to trust her.  I don't need to stress about numbers right now.  I will definitely ask as I get close to trigger but for now I just need to chill.

@krenee124 Ugh, so sorry that you're still dealing with the OHSS. It sounds miserable. I really hope you turn the corner soon and start to feel better!

  • @krenee124 you poor thing! Man I really hope that was the last time. I can’t imagine. I hope
You’re relaxing and being catered to!!

@tosh24 EXACTLY, just chill and relax for now. It’s not going to change knowing anything right this second. I’ll probably get more info on Sunday morning and then go back Christmas morning. Hoping to trigger on Christmas!!
  • @ndz2018 my beta is on the 28th
  • @bpietronicco Do you plan on testing before your Beta?
  • @ndz2018 I am trying not to- I don’t have any tests in the house- I just really don’t want to see a negative test although I am getting really nervous for the phone call after the beta.  I just want it to be positive so bad.
  • @bpietronicco you have to do whatever your gut says! hugs to you during the upcoming test! Remain hopeful! I have always tested but i know plenty of people who never do! I’m a control freak so to have a tiny insight was settling for me. It didn’t make the news harder or easier either time, I can tell you that!

As as for me - I am praying i am getting back on the right track. My body is also dealing with some GI issues from the antibiotics and pain meds so that has no been fun. I am just praying with everything I have that I continue to get well. I’ve never been so lacking of a human since my birth lol

I hope for those for you who celebrate, you have a Merry Christmas! I will get back on next week to check in! :kissing_heart: xo
  • Ok today’s monitoring app went well. We have 7 ahead on the left and 2 ahead on the right plus 20 smaller ones that are hopefully going to catch up... they are lowering my Gonal to 250iu(from 300) tonight, sticking with 20iu of Low Dose HCG and the Cetricide(ganirelex)... back tomorrow morning to see whats going on. Hope those other ones catch up!!
  • Awesome @ndz2018! How far behind are the smaller ones (or are you still staying away from specifics)? Hopefully they catch up and your appointment goes well tomorrow!

@tosh24 Not 100% sure, All I heard was that 7 on the left ovary were like 14/15 and the 2 on the right were about the same. I think the rest are around 10s at least that’s what H said he thought he heard. We’re just going with it and hope for the best over the next few days.
  • @mandurz Oh no! I hope you're able to shake it quickly. You've started your Clomid and Femara right?  How's that going?

AFM, on night 3 of stims. Some spots on my belly are easy to get the needle through  (like below the belly button) but I'm finding other spots (like to the sides of my bb) are hard to push through and hurt and end up bruising. Also, the menopur stings! Not as bad as the ganirelix, but still not fun! Knock on wood,  I haven't had any migraines! I had a headache yesterday that went away with one dose of Advil but so far, that's it. I've been pleasantly surprised.

Merry Christmas everyone! (And good luck at your appointment tomorrow @ndz2018!)

  • @tosh24 yep I sure have. I started them Fri so day 3 for me also. My RE is different for shots, they tell us all shots before ER need to be in the arm. At first I thought it was so strange but they seem convinced that they get better results that way. I wish you had that option so your tummy doesn't get so sore.

@tosh24 Looks like everything is fine! My actual dr was doing morning monitoring this morning and found my ovary right away no prob! So looks like I’ll be triggering tonight! I heard 20s 19s 18s etc. still got some small ones but she doesn’t want to lose the big ones i have. Just waiting for the call on what my instructions are!

  • Yay @ndz2018!!! Hope you get to trigger tonight!

AFM , had my CD7 monitoring this morning. I have 9 or 10 follies right now that are btwn 1.0 - 1.3 cm which I'm fairly happy with. I'm sticking with the 200 Puregon and 75 Menopur and add in the ganirelix tonight. . Last time I added in the ganirelix my ovaries took off and I had 7 more follicles pop up between days 7 and 10 so I'm hoping for a few more in the right size range on Friday when I go in for my next appointment. My tummy has been a little iffy (kind of feel "poopey" on and off and a bit nauseated) and I was kind of dizzy last night...wonder if it's the hormones. But I'll take those side effects over migraines (which I still haven't had any of)!

So one more day of stimming.. I’m triggering tomorrow night. Guess they wanna let the others ones grow some more. Lowing Gonal to 150iu and everything else the same.

@tosh24 Maybe it’s the horomones I had an upset tummy too! Hoping it passes soon.!
  • @tosh24 glad you have a good number of follicles keep it up!

AFM just had my ultrasound and have 4 measured on left and 2 on the right anywhere between 7-11mm so I am super happy about that. There are plenty of tiny ones that will start to perk up after I start gonal f tomorrow. So excited that things are going well so far.

  • @ndz2018 yay for triggering today and lots of follicles!! You’re almost done with the shots!!

@mandurz good sizes & yes my follicles picked up a little when I started ganerilix!! Best of luck when is next appt?
@tosh24 my stomach got that way also and still currently is :disappointed:

afm, haven’t had to do anymore draining since last Friday, thank goodness. My body is still retaining fluid, but I am urinating more which is good - I think things are starting to get better slowly. I still walk like I’m 94 years old and get winded quickly, but I think I’m on the way to getting better! My blood work did come back “off”. Hcg is still rising but the rest of the tests are not checking out well (blood counts, liver and kidney function, other things I don’t know what they were) so I have repeat blood work tomorrow again. They did say this was common with OHSS but can’t go ignored. So we shall see! Is anyone else thinking, “do whatever you have to do before 12/31”! Because my deductible is met at this point so I’m just saying, test it all!
  • @mandurz Sounds good!! What day are you on again?

Went for US this morning, LOTS of big follies on the right! Heard 22-16 measurements and tried counting how many on my hands and there were over 13 big follies on the right alone. On the left they were less follies, like 7 but big numbers too 17s,16s etc he did say there were still 7 follies less than 10 on the left side and I feel like those are good numbers .. Just waiting for the call the trigger and ER on Friday.
  • @krenee124 I really hope you start feeling better!! You poor thing! Did they say how long it takes to recover from OHSS??
  • @krenee124 i totally agree, tests and do everything before the deductible starts up again. I hope this continues to clear and you really start feeling better.
I am on day 6 of stims. Nurse didn't expect to see as many measurable follicles with just the pills (I told my body for the last 3 days I needed to have 4 on each side and at 10mm and being so close to that was freaking awesome).
