It’s so sad that these are the type of events we have to worry about while at work. I feel woefully unprepared to handle any type of active shooter or violent person at work, and we actually had a shooting in our ER years ago. A lot of units in the hospital are locked, but ours isn’t. And being up on the fourth floor, there’s no where to go. We’re part observation unit, and get a lot of detox/suicide/psych patients on our floor which we have not been adequately trained to handle. One of our nurses got assaulted by a psych patient a few months ago. I’m always thinking the worst so I just hate having to deal with these patients, especially being pregnant.

@ecwk Mostly everyone knows, and they’re really great about not giving PG girls particular patients. They’re already telling me not to help lift or restrain patients, but I feel bad not helping.

I don’t know if I should WTF my daughter’s teacher? She asked me when I dropped off my daughter if I was pregnant? Or should I WTF my 3 (almost 4 year old in a week) for being to smart and going and telling her entire class that I am pregnant. Supposedly my daughter had a full on conversation with the class about me being pregnant and her becoming a big sister. The gag is.....we never officially told her for that specific reason. It was so awkward when her teacher asked me because my reaction looked liked Homer Simpson. She caught me off guard and thier was this awkward silence. Then she proceeeded to tell me how it is ok to tell people early and that is a “new generation thing”,( not saying anything for three months). I was in disbelief for the whole conversation. I am still shocked my daughter has put two and two together. Just baffling.

My son told the entire daycare as soon as I found out. I had him tell my husband so he knew but OMG, everyone knows about the "baby in my tummy." Lol.

My rant turned into a rave! Hvac guy thought it was a motor issue but just filter. He thinks... we’ll see, th downstairs feels fine now but it isn’t up to the level it’s set to, so much for still be something else.

But! His visit was no charge - super nice (esp if he might have to come back...)

We haven't told our kids and I have to keep giving my husband the "eye" when he starts to slip up. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for and their little ears are always listening in. At least in my house. But I second the question that @lalala2004 asked, Did you ask her how she knew?

Hey Ladies, I asked my daughter why she told her teacher that and she said because “I want mommy to have a baby in her tummy”. We went to a baby shower a few weeks ago and she asked a hundred and one questions. She wanted to know where the baby was and why they were not taking a shower? LMAO I did my best to explain, but I think I provided to much explanation. I am sure when my husband and I were having random conversations she was listening. I am assuming she has put two and two together on her own. Her teacher also told me that I need to consider the fact that my daughter is advanced, so never assume she doesn’t know what is going on. I like to think my daughter is smart, but what parent doesn’t? I definitely think she gets it, even though we haven’t spelled it out to her. And yes, we need to give our kids a lot more credit than we do. Lesson learned! I am interested to see her response when we tell her officially. We did have a conversation about not telling people that she “believes” mommy is pregnant.

I can totally she where she is coming from with that. My 3 yo DD has told her daycare provider more than once that there is a baby in mommy's tummy. And this was before we were even trying. She talks constantly about having a baby brother or a sister. Her teacher would always be like "no I don't think she does" so she might be in for a shock when they find out that I am pregnant. However she hasn't done anything like that since my BFP.

Also haven’t told my girls, and won't until the day we tell our families because well, they are 3 and 6 and will be so excited. No way they are keeping that in.
I also haven’t told dh though, soooooo.... LOL
(waiting until Christmas Eve)

We have been trying to keep it secret from our 2 1/2 year old too. Well... the other day while getting blood work and making small talk with the nurse, I told DD to tell the nurse what she wants to be when she grows up ( she ALWAYS says doctor !) well DD says “ I am going to be a big sister when I grow up”

@SmashJam I hate this!! My son doesn't sleep well and people with kids in their teens keep telling me it never gets better because you worry.
Yeah, I'm sure your being worried is the same as me being up three times a night to get my son back to sleep. *eyeroll* it's like people have to try and one up you or enjoy making you dread the future. People are stupid.

That’s people having amnesia. If you can’t sleep because of worry, get on some meds. It’s generally frowned upon to drug children so they will sleep

I vow that when my son is a teenager and sleeping in until noon, I will remember when he was waking up by 5am every day. I will NOT miss it!

I couldn’t even wait the whole day to tell DH like I did with my first pregnancy. I just blurted it out. It’s a lot harder to keep a secret this time for some reason. I guess since my life has been baby heavy for so long, it’s hard to find other topics

I don't understand how or why you wouldn't tell your husband. Mine found out at the same time I did. We were trying, though, so the status of my uterus was highly anticipated, and he knew the second my period was late.

How would be by just not telling him. We have also been ttc but he doesn’t know how long my cycles are. Why would be because I thought it would be extra special to wait until Christmas Eve.
We don’t exchange presents other than stockings, so Christmas Eve morning I had him unwrap a First Christmas sleeper. He teared up and proclaimed it the best Christmas ever. Made me cry and well worth the week of secret.

We announced our pregnancy to my husband's family on Christmas. My MIL and FIL were congratulatory; however, my husband's grandmother was disappointed! She said we should have waited longer, and "we're y'all trying to get pregnant??" We have a 21 month old. I'm almost 34...so not sure exactly how long she expected us to wait!

@kcdo1010 I think it's really sweet that you were able to keep it a secret and give him such a great gift for Christmas. I tried to keep mine a secret too for the same reason, but I was only able to hold it in for 2 days. DH asked if I had started my period and I thought he was on to me so I had to expedite my reveal plan with him.

@nmbutterworth ugh, grandparents. Sorry she had a dud response.
