Re: WTF Wednesday 12/20

  • Wtf house. Finally the hvac guy os coming out today to see why the heat isn’t working downstairs... after a week of it being like 55 downstairs (only that warm that’s to heat from upstairs).

and.., it was warmer yesterday so it’s a solid 64 in here now. He’s gonna be like ‘um what are you talking about...’ and then it’ll get cold again and be miserable for Xmas

  • Wtf unisom. My dr told me I could take it as I’ve been having a really tough time sleeping. Slept great last night but woke up and got up to make DS breakfast and get ready for work and started to feel hot and dizzy like I was going to pass out!! DH came home and I’m still laying in bed. I took a whole instead of a half and that was super scary! My own fault, I know.
  • Wtf rib, thanks for popping out of place when I stretched this morning. It's a reoccurring issue but it usually stays put when I am lifting more. I guess I need to hit the weights a little bit. Dang it.
  • WTF DH. He cannot fathom why on earth I would want to be a part of this community, especially since this is my second pregnancy and I know what to expect. Otherwise, he’s pretty much perfect, especially catering to my ridiculous pregnancy needs/whims. But srsly DH, why do you even care about this?

  • WTF to my makeup. My Tinted Moisturizer that I wear every day has vitamin a in it, so I am stopping using it until I see my doctor to run it past her. I feel so naked. I miss it.

  • @pghctwife - just ugh, seriously hope you get your furnace fixed soon! Do you have a fireplace or something downstairs that could help with the heat?
    @scottishlass1213 - that's so scary! Glad you're ok!
@Firemanswife11 - omg your rib pops out? I hope the lifting helps!
@lakesideknitter - whaaat? Hopefully he comes around soon!

My WTF goes to the alarm clock on my phone. For the last 2 weeks if I hit snooze and go back to sleep I wake up like 45 min later and the snooze time says -45:13, -45:14, etc. Grumble. So now it's a decision I don't want to make - get up right when the alarm goes off or arrive to work late. It's like Sophie's Choice y'all.

  • @Firemanswife11 that’s crazy! Hoping it doesn’t bother you too much throughout the pregnancy. Is it a connective tissue problem?

  • @lakesideknitter not sure. It happened a few years ago for the first time when I was twisted to the side, bent over to pick something up, and sneezed. I don't really have any other issues. Just this one lil rib! Lol.
  • @mrsbubbles-2 yeah we have a propane fireplace but until yesterday had no tank (oil heat up here). We have the tank now so we can heat with that at least.

I just hare it when you finally are trying to get something fixed or dealt with and miraculously to doesn’t ‘show’ the issue when you need it to. Like ‘I swear I was freezing in here Monday!’ Ugh

WTF work, I’m only working a half day and  you want me to cover ISS during home room and lunch, my usual class, and then another teacher’s class? When am I supposed to eat lunch? So today I’m going to work early so I have time to eat lunch. Lame.

  • My WTF ... they stopped testing urine at doctors appointments until 35 weeks in my province . That’s how I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes later in my pregnancy last time ...
  • My WTF is pop... FTM and I just found out that pop is not good to drink during pregnancy. I've been having a small redbull in the morning which is well under the caffeine limit. I gave up smoking so I figured a little redbull would be OK (better to have a small one in the morning than a smoke) and then I find out I shouldn't be drinking any sort of pop. WTF!? I'm sort of WTFing a lot on what I can and can't put in my body right now. Seems like every day it's something new. I thought, just stay away from lunch meat, booze, cigarettes and I'll be golden... NOT!

But I am super happy to be pregnant and am willing to give up anything to make sure my baby is healthy!

I felt like death with my sinus infection on Monday :confounded:

@multifariousmermaid It's great that you have quit the cigs! Well done! I don't think there is much harm in having a soda every now and then as long as you're under the caffeine limit. Maybe not energy drinks like redbull but I had a sprite the other day and had soda during my last pregnancy too. Maybe you could try sparking water, that usually curbs the craving for me!

    Edit for spelling

  • @multifariousmermaid soda is fine as long as you’re under the caffeine limit, but make sure you’re looking at the whole can of Red Bull as far as caffeine content because it actually has two serving sizes. There really aren’t that many restrictions when you look at them closely.

  • @multifariousmermaid my OB said one soda a day was fine, but she said energy drinks are questionable because they have some ingredients that haven’t been tested and aren’t monitored by the FDA but I’ve been having “organic” energy drinks from Whole Foods from time to time (just staying under 200 mg of caffeine per day).

  • Good to hear I don't need to cut out pop altogether :) and thanks for the heads up on the energy drinks. I've been trying to switch to black tea but it's just not the same :disappointed:
  • I have yet another work WTF. Apparently now the are going to have us decide whether to lock down or evacuate during an active shooter situation. WTF, I am not trained for this, and I am not qualified to make a decision like that! And they say they'll give us information about where the shooter is? How are they going to do that in a real life situation? They did the drill, and the whole thing was over in 2 minutes with them saying "Police are on the scene." Yeah, no, they don't respond that fast. So to add to that, WTF to the country I live in where this is even a thing. It's like every where is a war zone. In reality we better hope it just never happen here, because there's really nothing we can do but hope and pray if something like that happens.

  • @lalala2004 do... Do warnings expire? I got one when things went down in the F17 board, and have been trying to play nice ever since!
  • @lalala2004 WTF?! I would not want to be held responsible for making life or death decisions in a lock down situation. There's a reason there are plans and procedures, not "Well, you do you. Evacuate, shelter in. Whatever." My schools has very clear procedures and I still get nervous during drills.

  • Wtf to my SO. He's suddenly an emotional wreck and wants to cling to me all the time worse than my toddler and it's driving me insane. We discussed it for the past 2 days and it's a little better but I swear of he makes one more kiss face at me I'm gonna punch him. The hormones are raging right now and I'm so irritable. So.... Basically just no one touch me. Which I told him and he responded with a super long hug. /rant
  • @lalala2004 IKWYM about the lock down situation. Our policies have changed dramatically since I started there a few years ago. It used to be just huddle in the corner in the dark and silence and pray. Now it's all hands on deck to barricade the room, distract and disarm the shooter. And since we have cameras and an intercom, if they let us know the shooter is far away from us, we can make the decision to evacuate. It scares the absolute shit out of me, especially coming from a country where even our police force is not armed. And when I think of DS going to school in a few years...forget it, I just can't

also areyou on a warning for the ramzi thread? That's BS, man.

    @mrslittlemac you're absolutely spot on

  • WTF to my dog. She decided to gulp a ton of water and snarf down some food this morning. Then ran and jumped on my bed and promptly threw up on it!!!! Yeah that's just what I wanted to deal with before I had to go to work today.

Ugh, bummer. I hate it when they do that kind of thing. You'd think they'd know.
  • @lalala2004 and @ecwk I’m so sorry your schools are putting you in those positions, how terrifying!
@lngcdr2009 oh no! I hope your pup feels better!
@mrslittlemac I’m going to borrow free for all glitter fest. Not for bumping but I think I can put it to good use in my non-interwebz life
@lalala2004 I really hope there were no warnings handed out for the Ramzi thread, I thought everyone handled the obnoxiousness perfectly!

  • @ecwk but the thing that bothers me about the cameras.... yeah, we have them, but what if the people who have access to them are off campus or somewhere else in campus and can’t get to view them. That all goes out the window. I feel like we’re practicing best case scenario.

  • @SmashJam I wanted to nut punch people who said "Oh, you're having trouble sleeping? Well you better get used to it. Hardy har har" when I was pregnant with DS. Thanks for the shit advice. I haven't STTN since about January of last year, try saying something like that this time around, I dare you :rage:

@lalala2004 our camera views are visible from the main office where the intercom is so that's the only reason it might work. Shudder. I hate even thinking about this but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about it regularly. We had pretty intensive training and the kids did too. One reason I'm so glad I'm with HS kids, they can help. I surprisingly felt pretty comforted at how well we can barricade ourselves!!

  • @ecwk I really hope we do that at my school. One of our APs has actually been in a school shooting situation in his old school. And they say the statistics now are averaging one a week. I’d rather bury my head in the sand and hope it just won’t happen here, but that’s not helpful when this has the unfortunate reality.
