@ecwk Full on had a birth dream last night that was majorly vivid. Birthed a baby girl with thick brown hair, olive skin, and I barely felt her come out. Really hoping that last part plays out as reality haha. It was really cool and I remember in the dream telling them I wanted her on my chest and they put her on my chest and it was the best feeling!
  • @hannerbananers that's so sweet!!

  • Having more RLP than I remember from last time, but it was two years ago, so who knows?

And my clothes are already so uncomfortable. I’m ready to switch already. I might give in around 9 weeks :grimace:

  • @lalala2004 I am definitely having RLP already and my kid's 3...I didn't have any with him until the second trimester. And today I took off my work belt and I may never wear it again.
  • @lalala2004 The RLP for me is so much earlier than last time too. First pregnancy I barely felt it until the end. This time, it started in week 5 or 6!! It's actually subsided a little now.
I can't wait for maternity jeans! I loaned mine to a friend though, and I don't want to ask for them back until we announce in the second tri!! Ugh. I can't wait that long!
  • Yeah, it was a point of pride for me last time to wait as long as possible to wear maternity clothes regularly. That was really stupid, I could have been so much more comfortable for much longer. I mean, I’ll probaby try to hide the pregnancy at work until 12 weeks or so, but I’m so ready to wear all stretchy pants all the time.

  • LOL @hardlyhannah I have done the same thing with banana chips.
  • I'm in full morning sickness mode now. I am very nauseated all day, and if I don't have food in my stomach, throwing up. It's hard to make sure that I always have food in my system, and it's definitely going to make me gain weight. I hate to be vain, but I'm petite, and if I am eating more than I am used to I can and will gain weight really quickly. I am already at my highest ever weight at only 7 weeks! At this point eating is worth the nausea trade-off, but I really hope this doesn't last too long.

  • STM here. Ever since I peed on the stick last week I’ve been getting these weird muscle (?) spasms in the vicinity of where (I think) my uterus is. I get it multiple times a day and it legit feels like a baby kicking in there. It’s definitely not round ligament pain and it doesn’t hurt at all. Anybody else experience this? I’m 4w5d.

My only other possible symptoms are being tired but sleeping terribly at night and feeling extremely warm at night. With my DS, nausea kicked in at 6w. I’m one of those nervous Nellies that is counting down to the nausea to start so that I’m reassured that this is real (first pregnancy ended in a MC at 6w).

    That’s probably gas.

  • It could be but it doesn’t feel like gas normally does. It’s always in the same spot and I can feel it with my hand when it happens.

So if it's not RLP or gas and obviously  not a baby, could it just be cramps?

  • What @ecwk said. I've been having some combination of cramps/gas and I've been having trouble distinguishing which is which. I know it's 99% nothing to worry about but as a first timer, it makes me nervous. My stomach muscles also feel sore, like I've done a bunch of ab exercises (which I certainly have not)

  • Had some watery, light spotting earlier today. I think it has stopped for now. It's probably nothing, but I've never had a positive outcome when spotting was involved. So, trying not to spiral, but definitely freaking out internally. I'll call my ob in the morning and they might move my u/s appointment up to tomorrow (was originally Thursday). I'll update as I know more.

I don’t think so, it’s not painful at all. Just a very noticeable and consistent (i.e., multiple occurrences throughout the day, not coinciding with any specific activity) muscle spasm. Since, it’s not painful I’m not overly concerned and will let my doc know at next week’s appointment. I just wanted to know if others had experienced it too.

I keep having this thought that I have twins in there and the muscle spasms are my uterus rapidly expanding. At this point in the game, this is crazy, I know.
  • @LCartee2016 FX that they can get you in if it continues. But light spotting is totally normal!

  • 4wk4d here. I'm having more noticeable symptoms with this pregnancy than my first (which ended in a m/c), so I'm hoping that's  a good thing.

Smell aversion, my husband baked some homemade caraway rye sourdough crackers last weekend and I literally had to go sit outside in the cold til he was done. And they're one of our favorites.

Chicken smells vile, yet I'm craving fried chicken. Sigh.

    Almond milk is freaking amazing.

Coffee has turned disgusting, which is sad, I used to drink it all day.

I can't get enough salad with avocados and Italian dressing.

I'm tired, but my sleep at night is becoming lousy. I'm too hot and I can't ever seem to get comfortable, and I've been arguing with my cpap mask more. And I've been having vivid non-pleasant dreams when I do sleep.

And my digestion seems backed up, which is a switch, I normally run too fast in that department. But now I consider it a good thing if I can go once a day. And I'm super gassy, but it doesn't want to come out, so I'm bloated and miserable.
  • @LCartee2016 thinking of you!!! Hopefully they can move your appointment up so you can get answers!!

  • @ACarey258 could just be your brain playing tricks on you too. I’ve had phantom kicks, both in early pregnancy like you and once I was drivinv and I swear I could feel kicks with my hand they were unmistakable. Except... I wasn’t pregnant. Didn’t feel like gas just muscle memory and my brain tricking me. It’s the WEIRDEST phenomenon though!!

  • So for the first time inn6 pregnancies... threw up this morning. I’ve been dry heaving since 6w or so (6w6 now). Of course nothing but spit came up since i hadn’t eaten yet.

Hope it’s a positive sign! I had nausea in my 2 losses but this time is very different.

Weirdly im not exhausted too. My losses I could barely function at this point. Any differences I can find I’ll take!

  • @neeraja_k I had severe constipation with my first pregnancy. Try Colace - it’s very gentle and just softens your stools. It’s what they give you for the terrifying first BM after giving birth. ;)

  • @LCartee2016 I'm so sorry about the spotting and I completely understand how worrisome and stressful that can be as I've experienced it previously as well. I'll be thinking of you. Please keep us posted!

AFM: I've peed like 100 times today. I took DD to the pool and had to get out to pee 5 times in the hour and a half we were there. I haven't even been drinking that much today. I'm starting to get really nervous for our 15 hour road trip back to Maryland after Christmas...DH is going to get soooooo irritated with me having to stop to pee all the time!  :#

  • @pghctwife So sorry your getting sick, but I'm glad it feels mentally positive for you!
@neeraja_k I feel you on the gassy/stopped up feeling. I had it with my last pregnancy and it's hit hard this time too. I take a stool softener with my prenatal every morning. And lots of leafy greens.
I've been so tired this pregnancy. I can't wait for that second tri high. I hope I feel that energy/nesting high that I felt in my first pregnancy, because this first tri has really knocked me on my ass!
  • I’ve been terrible about eating vegetables so I drank a smoothie today, and just threw it all up. So forget it. Back to all the cheese and carbs until the second trimester.

I think I am 5 weeks today- I have a dating ultrasound scheduled for Jan. 2nd to find out for sure.... but my goodness, my lower back is killing me!! It comes and goes- mostly when I am walking around. It sucks because I am a runner and generally super active, but it has been making it hard to be active!!! I have never had this symptom with pregnancy before - i didn’t really have any symptoms with DD. Has anyone else/ is anyone else going through this? I am thinking about going to my chiropractor it is getting so bad!
Me! Horrible lower back pain. I'm also almost 5 weeks.im thinking of going to the chiropractor as well! Only other symptoms at this point is super human sense of smell and tired.

  • Hey everyone.

Im glad to see STMs and beyond mentioning earlier symptoms. I have round ligament pain already and my pants are getting uncomfortable. I was 7 weeks on monday. Im thinking by 10 weeks i might need new pants.

Ive had spotting. Is anyone willing to explain exactly how much they have?  Some days i have nothing. Today i had a bit more. Still only enough to catch when i wipe. It has strains of red but also brownish and mucousy as well. I didnt spot at all with my first so its making me nervous. Only very mild  cramps here and there and lasts a few minutes. The spotting doesnt happen when im cramping. My appt is not until 3 weeks from now.

No nausea yet. Last time it didnt start until the second trimester. then it turned into hyperemesis and last straight through to til 3rd trimester.

  • First timer here...5 weeks today.

So far I'm good! A little bloating and a lot of exhaustion. The weirdest thing to me so far is my sudden superhero sense of smell. I have always had the WORST sense of smell but now I could be talking to someone and I can smell their breath and it is SUPER distracting - and also really gross.

I keep waiting for the nausea and sickness to kick in but so far I'm good. I have a terrible fear of throwing up AND I work a crazy shift (3am-noon) so I'm PRAYING it doesn't hit me while I'm at the office!!
  • @GoyaBean913 I haven't had any spotting with this pregnancy but I did with my last all the way through 12 weeks. Mine was brown at first, not much and only present when I wiped. It did get heavier (enough to need a liner) and turned to bright red blood at about 11 weeks so I went and got checked and everything was fine.

Spotting can be completely normal, but it's still a good idea to call your OB or midwife and let them know. Loads of things can cause spotting in early pregnancy like sex or straining to pass stool, the cervix is extremely sensitive right now.
