GTKY: pick your due date!

If you could pick your own due date for this pregnancy, which day would you pick and why?  For c-section mamas, feel free to comment if you did pick your scheduled date or if you would have picked a different one.

Re: GTKY: pick your due date!

  • My EDD is the 19th.

Realistically, I would love Friday, the 16th around lunch time. My older kids are off from school on Sat, Sun, and Mon, so it'd be easier to arrange their care while I'm in the hospital. Plus we'd still have a day or two (depending on discharge time) at home all together before they go back to school.

Unrealistically, February 4th (37w 6d.) I've never gone earlier than 39w 1d, but the last unmovable calendar thing scheduled is Feb 3rd, so any day after that sounds great. I am so ready to be done!

  • EDD is 2/27. I would love 2/18. One, 18 is my favorite number. Two, I think 2/18/18 just sounds like a nice date. Three, my last day of work is 1/29 and I feel like that gives me a good amount of time to enjoy maternity leave and then I’m not waiting for an overdue baby!
  • My EDD is Feb 20. RCS is scheduled for Feb 13, but with the protein that has showed up in my urine and my BP creeping up, it may be sooner than that. 37 weeks puts us at Jan 30, but I’m thinking Feb 2 sounds like a good day. I just saw it’s Groundhog Day, but oh well! It would be enough from DD’s birthday (2/18) and still in February. We’ll see what happens. It’s a wait and see game at this point.
  • My EDD is Monday February 5th. I think I’d like Saturday the 3rd simply because that’s the first day of husbands 2 week vacation. Would be nice for him to get 2 extra days with baby.

on the same hand I would prefer her to not come early as hubby could be out of town if she’s early and that terrifies me.

  • EDD is 2/6. I'm hoping for right on time or a few days early.
  • My EDD is 2/18 and I would love it if she came that day. Like @kristinl492 said 2/18/18 has such as nice ring to it.  I'd also choose 2/6 as that's my grandma's birthday and I think it would be special for them to have the same birthday :-)
  • My EDD is 2/14. My sister in law and brothers girlfriend’s birthdays are both on 2/18.  It would be cool to have 3 girls in the family with the same birthday. But I’m not sure if I can hold out that long to meet her.
  • Like PP I’d pick feb 2nd (feb 6 due date). Labor starting around 9am, baby born around noon-1pm, DS is out of school soon after, and out all weekend. DH could even be home for the Super Bowl. If only I could plan it that well. lol!

  • My edd is Feb. 16....i like that date, its Friday and three day weekend.
HOWEVER, my birthday is Sept. 15, and DH is April 15...so if Sutton were to be born Feb. 15. That would be cool.

  • My EDD is Feb 16th. I’m okay with that as long as I’ deliver on the 16th and it t’héberge 17th (DH’s birthday). I’m wanting to avoid delivering on the 11th (DD1’s birthday) and Valentine’s Day. I’m also needing to avoid Feb 6th since DH is hosting a competition at his school.
I’ve never seen a due date though, so I’m a little nervous H will overlap birthdays with someone.
  • My EDD is 2/7.  Personally I would like to go into labor late in the day on 2/2 bc it's a Friday and have him on 2/3.  It's a Saturday and like @pandappanderson said that would give DH 2 extra days with us.  He would share a birthday with his uncle but I doubt he would care.
  • My EDD is 2/8. I have some work projects that will wrap up on 2/1, so any day after that would be great. I like the idea of a ground hogs day baby, so 2/2 could be a fun pick.
Side note- people keep saying "oh! He could come late and be a Valentine's Day baby!" Uh, no, I don't want to be pregnant for 41 weeks thank you.
  • My EDD is 2/9. I am having a repeat csection so I was able to pick. The earliest date to pick was Friday 2/2 which worked cuz DH would have to use less PTO days off with the weekend and DS would be in school during the day. Well the hospital was already booked for 2/2 so they moved my date to 2/1, which still works for me. I was thinking they would have moved it to Monday 2/5 which would have been less ideal but cuz DH would have had to use more PTO days while in the hospital. It all worked out nicely!

  • @TattoosandLace We have the same EDD and I'm with you in avoiding Valentine's day. No thank you  :)
  • EDD 2/6. I was scheduled for 1/24 RCS. I’m just praying we make it to that date.
  • Due 2/19.  The 2/18/18 would be cool because DS1 and DS2 were both born on the 18th of their birth months.  But, I have my eye on 2/8/17 because the kids are out of school on Thursday’s so we wouldn’t have to arrange pick up for them.
  • Due Feb 16th and the 16th would be great! We have a weeks break starting on the 19th so husband would be home with me for 9 days and not have to actually take any time off work! All of my friends are also Teachers so they will also be off too and can watch our DS.
But since this is so convenient I'll be super overdue and deliver after the week long break!
  • We got a free newborn class with our prenatal class, which is on Jan 31 so we told the baby he can't be born until Feb 1 or else we won't know how to care for him :) There isn't really any dates that work better for us so I'm fine with any time after full-term (Feb 7) and DH is hoping for due date (Feb 14) so he won't forget the birthday, and we are both hoping I don't go in to labour during a blizzard

Stuck in box: +1 for hoping to not go into labor during a blizzard. But knowing Colorado, it’ll probably happen.
  • My due date was February 20th but doctor wanted to deliver at 39 weeks. An exact week before is 02/13 but I scheduled my c-section for February 14th so that I'll have a Valentine's baby  <3

This.  I don't want to go into labor during a storm or bad weather.

My due date is 2/2, ground hogs day.  Dd would like me to go in January so she doesn't have to share her birth month with another sibling. I don't care as long as he's full term and no nicu stays are needed.

  • EDD Feb. 18, but I would love it if she came on Feb. 10, my dad’s birthday.  DS was 10 days early, so maybe there’s a chance?  If I end up having to throw in the towel on a VBAC attempt, my options for a scheduled repeat c are Feb 6 or Feb. 13.  I really hope she doesn’t come on Valentine’s Day because it’s my favourite holiday and one of few guaranteed date nights throughout the year.  I also hope not to go over for obvious reasons, but also because DS’ birthday is Feb. 26 and I’d like as much space between them as possible.

  • I had to look at the calendar to see what my due date weekday even was for this, haha, but I think if I could pick a day it would be the 16th! I’m due the 21st which is a Wednesday, 16th is a Friday and I’d rather be a few days early than a few days late, plus DH would have less trouble getting off work last minute if it was a Friday. He won’t have an official paternity leave this time since he’s a PhD student working in a lab, so if he had the weekend for sure to be with me in the hospital and to have time to work out some days off with his lab mentor and professors that would give him a bit of a time cushion. Plus DS was born on a Friday so it’s a good day for a baby. Come to think of it I think I was born on a Friday too!

  • EDD is 10th Feb, If i was to pick i would go for 2/2 because i just want to meet my LO sooner, as long as she is full term.
  • My EDD is Valentine's Day, which I LOVE.  I really hope she does come on that day (though I know it's unlikely), but otherwise, I'd love an even number to go with the 2 and 2018.  Like others, I'd love a non-blizzard day too, ideally!  Living in New England, February weather can be unpredictable.
  • My EDD is Feb 15th. Like others, I do not want a Valentine's bday! My FIL (2/12) and my Mom (2/26) both have February bdays, so hoping the LO won't share their bdays. I guess I am a math or numbers geek, so I'm aiming for either 2/9 (2*9 = 18) or 2/16 (2+16=18). Seems it would be easy to remember. I also like 2/8/18 because it has a nice ring to it!
  • Due  2/1 having a RCS on 1/22. I actually was excited when they told me that date because my birthday is 7/22 so it makes me feel connected to have the same birth day number
  • EDD is 2/20. I'm fine with that date although I'd actually kind of like her to come on 2/23 or 2/24, it works out better for work timing... But I will probably feel very differently when we hit the last month. I'd prefer she not be a Valentine's day baby just because we have a few in the family already, but we'll see!
  • My SCS is on 2/2, which is my birthday, and Groundhog Day. I always joke that that damn groundhog steals my birthday thunder every year, so now I can joke my own son is going to steal it too :) I don't really have a preference about date, though, but I echo not wanting to have to get to the hospital during a snowstorm! We always seem to get a bad storm in February.

  • @rainafire77 I’m so sorry about your loss. That’s a really good perspective on remembering the day though. Positive experiences can do a lot to overshadow a negative ones

@eggplantface my scheduled RCS is for the same day. We joked about naming the baby Bill Murray our last name. It’s just a bummer that DH will be watching the super bowl from a hospital room but we’ve already talked about ordering from Buffalo Wild Wings and having it delivered to the hospital.

    TW**
My original due date was 2/17 but my cycles were way way off due to a CP in early January. Past that time my cycles went from 29 dates to nearly 40. So my first appointment the measurements lined up with a 2/17 due date even though I wasn’t sure when I had ovulated.  when I went in for my NT scan, the baby was measuring almost a week ahead with a 2/11 adjusted due date. 2/11 is my husband’s birthday which we took as a “sign” because my first son’s due date was my late father’s
    Birthday.  **End TW**

After consistently measuring ahead, my due date was bumped to 2/8. After discussing it with my doctor, baby extraction day is 2/2. RCS with a secondary producure for dermoid cyst/possible ovary removal

  • @amb929 I'm hoping we'll get to go home Sunday and watch the Super Bowl there. My doc said 2-3 nights in the hospital but can't be more specific. I forgot about the movie: I say my birthday is so awesome they made a whole movie about it :) Good call on the BWWs!!

  • My EDD is 2/28...I’m good with anything that day or before! I don’t want to be pregnant one day extra lol my hubbys birthday is 2/1 and my daughters birthday is 2/2! All my February babies!
  • EDD is Feb. 18. I'm in the camp of not wanting a Valentine's Day baby. Any other day is fine with me, although I'm hoping he/she is early rather than late!
  • @smorzandoj - 1/24 is my birthday!  Good date to have baby
  • Most of my reply disappeared!  Stupid bump!

EDD is 2/6 but RSC is 1/31. I would vhavw preferred 2/1 so DH can maximize his leave but one day won’t kill us.  I was able to schedule my first two CS and picked and odd day for the first and even for the second. Growing up my sister and I were like this so whosever day it was (odd or even) got to decide whatever we were arguing over. It’s a moot point now that I’m having a third. Oh well!
  • +1 for not wanting a Valentine's Day baby!  (I have a very vivid memory of calling a friend in high school for his birthday on Valentine's Day and he was home alone, video-taping a Rod Stewart concert off the TV for his mother while his parents were out at dinner. Poor guy!).  The 13th is my little sister's bday, so I'd like to avoid that day, too, since she's pretty sensitive about having any attention taken away from her on her birthday.

My EDD is February 16th and I would love to deliver on that day.  It's my dad's birthday and, as he said, "a very monumental day for him."  I'd also be ok with anything before the 13th, but like @LadyMillil, we have an Infant Care Class the first week in February, so it would be really great if LO could wait until after that :)
  • EDD is the 25th. MIL bday is the 27th. I'll take any other day (even into March) just please don't come the 27th!
