@mileswithmyles I agree 100%, and that goes for kids in ANY public setting. Restaurants, plays or other performances, flights, etc. Kids need to be in public to learn how to act in public, and kids aren't adults so we shouldn't expect them to act like adults the whole time they're out. But when the kids' parents are ignoring unruly and disruptive behavior, that's when it becomes a problem. And this applies in kid-centric places like playgrounds or kids' movies/shows, too. Good luck on your flight, I hope you have an awesome time! And PS how did your Hanukkah dinner go?

@tincupchalice OMG! I hear you. I hate when we are out with DS and my three nephews. BIL is divorced and everything just assumes all 4 kids are mine. I want to wear a shirt that says "Only the youngest belongs to me!"
Those in the medical profession are definitely required to do a certain number of continuing education units each year. DH is a Physician Assistant and those in that field are required to take a recertification exam every 6 years in addition to doing the CEUs.

I guess it just depends on the doctor for what he/she does with it. I've been to a couple and it seemed like they hadn't done much in twenty years. But it could also be that sometimes their older patients get so comfortable with what they know so the doctors just try to do that. Not that it's dangerous, it just seemed so old fashioned and not as effective to me from newer doctors I have seen. I think in every profession there are good and not so good examples though!
Im glad we're all on the same page that if parents are doing their job of caring for kids in public places then it's not that big of a deal if the kid has a moment. But yeah when the parent is failing to step in I have a problem.
@sandbar517 exactly! Kids will be kids, but they need to be redirected when they have inappropriate behavior. It’s not so much about the behavior as it is the parents’ reaction (or lack of) to it. I always feel so bad when babies and their parents when babies cry on flights because they aren’t in control and there’s only so much you can do. It isn’t really anyone’s fault.
it went really well! Thanks for asking. I was really tired after, but our food came out well and our nephews weren’t totally insane that night. I laid a lot of groundwork with DS about only taking out one toy at a time and cleaning up and he told his cousins and they actually kind of listened for once!
@gildah I had to take DS to my office this week and he was all about the post-its!
Oh my goodness. I could go on all day about parents letting their children run amok at the library. I pride myself on not being a "shusher" and on telling parents that learning is often loud/messy, but for goodness sakes DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR KID. My mom would never let us make such a scene in the library. We would have been in the car headed home before we knew what hit us!
