Re: First Trimester Check-in

  • @FuzzyDust Cutest ornament ever & I love the idea of a Christmas reveal.
@hopefulmom sorry to hear about your shingles issue - I thought that only happened to folks in their 60s or older. But you are far enough along where it shouldn’t affect your nugget.
@Holls214 Yay for the bump and meds working. You’ll prob start feeling kicks in a couple of weeks
@jr102217 welcome! We are almost due date buddies - my EDD is 7/12.

AFM: I’m 9 weeks Tomm - graduated from the RE last week. They also had me stop the PIO -which I was happy/nervous about but they have me using Endometrin for 2 weeks. That stuff is flat out gross - I almost wish I could just do shots for 2 more weeks. Eek. My MS is getting worst and starting to hit me all day. Interestingly enough, doesn’t stop me from eating. I literally eat enough to feed a family of 4. My OB appointment is next week - I’m nervous bc they see pts every 4 weeks but I have to trust the process. With my exhaustion I’m not doing anything special for the holidays. Hoping to make it to NYC one of the days to see the tree - other than that online presents for everyone!

  • So happy to be in good company!

    1. How far along are you? 4 weeks, 6 days
What is your EDD? August 10
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having?
    Sleeping horribly and nausea.
    3. When is your next appointment?
Getting repeat blood work to continue to check my levels tomorrow. Then need to schedule a preliminary scan with my RE to make sure everything is good. My first OB appointment is scheduled for 12/28.
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? I both can't wait to tell the world our announcement (we've even TTC for 8 years, second IVF round) but also am nervous of the hat can still go wrong and feeling guilty for my friends still struggling.
QOTW: What shows have you been watching?
I've just started The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon (the creator of Gilmore Girls created it!), I'm doing a Full House rewatch, and just started the Good Wife
  • @hopefulmom shingles is awful. You usually only hear about it with older folks (my parents had it) but last month a 41-yr-old friend got it due to so much stress. I hope you're feeling better!

    Welcome, @mrskermunger

  • Hello!! I finally made it to this side of the bump.

    1. How far along are you? 9 weeks today.

What is your EDD? July 14

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having?

Not much tbh (and grateful) I do get sleepy at night (knocked out at 9pm). nausea, but manageable, very hungry but not interested in food, aversions, some insomnia, lots of trips to the bathroom.

    3. When is your next appointment?

Monday for bw at my RE (progesterone had dropped a little after my 8 week appt, they wanted to start tapering me off but not yet) then Tuesday is my first appt with my obgyn

    4. Anything else you'd like to share?

I've been terrified to post here, as I was scared something would go wrong. But the fertility board has always been so lovely and supportive, I know it's going to be the same here :) *TW* I am currently on bedrest due to an sch which is no longer actively bleeding (knock on wood) *end TW*

QOTW: What shows have you been watching?

Suits. Need new recommendations, this show puts me to sleep...or maybe it's the hormones

  • @coco305  congrats and welcome to the other side! We all find it terrifying as it's time to come on over because you just don't know what the future holds!   We pray things keep moving in the right direction!
I was actually lurkking on your FET board and I was going to share that my OB did not confirm an SCH until my 11th week my RE originally told me  my bleeding and spotting were originally from the placenta attaching itself when it started at week seven so hang in there and wait to see what the doctor actually sees. Definitely relax and take it easy for sure that's the best that you can do right now.

How is Suits putting you to sleep I love that show!! can't wait for it to start up again!!!

  • Welcome!!! I also love Suits. We also watch Gotham which I really like too. Hope you ladies are having a good weekend! I’m enjoying the sunshine inside cleaning my house.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • Thank you for sharing your experience @Hopeful_mom I had never realized how often it happens. Im super nervous to switch doctors, I assume we all are. Suits is fine, I just get sleepy right around 8:30 which is when we start watching lol.
  • So anyone else experience numbness on the outer thighs due to PIO? It's no where near the injection site. Last night my thigh felt tingly, as if it was asleep. So weird.
  • @coco305 I stopped the PIO over a week ago but that happened to me - only on the left side though. One time DH was injecting and the tingling was so intense I was afraid I was going to lose all feeling in my leg. Luckily he stopped and we went on to do it on the right side only from thereon. I still feel that even after going off the shot so it’s probably normal - I hope! How much longer are you on it? I’m tapering off with Endometrin suppositories for 2 weeks which is NOT FUN :(
  • Hi @rainbow2018 so nice to see you on this side :) I start tapering off as of Saturday. I drop down to 1.5ml for a week, then 1ml then .5 ml for a week each. I'm a week late tapering off since my progesterone had dropped a little at 8w. I saw my obgyn yesterday, and her nurse was like "oh she'll probably have you just stop the shots." I was like um noooooo. Of course my dr did not make me stop, but geez do I miss my IVF nurses lol

  • @laurad75 I'm so glad to see you on here! Congrats on the positive beta!

AFM - I still feel weird posting over here, like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. We ordered wine labels to announce to our family over Christmas and I kept telling DH not to order them b/c I'm too nervous to tell people yet! 11 weeks today and still feeling queasy, exhausted, and my boobs have already grown like 2 sizes and I've had to get new bras. For someone that's always been fairly small on top, this is a whole new world for me. Stopped PIO and estrace at 10 weeks and it still feels weird to not be on any medications. I have my NT scan on Monday so I'm sure i will be a nervous wreck this weekend leading up to that!
  • Welcome to the other side yay!! @laurad75

@mtpbadger yay for announcements!!  If the everything we've been through it's very hard to not wait for the other shoe to drop I get it I'm 15 weeks today and I'm still a basket case! Everything makes me nervous I'm always afraid the spotting will get worse it's just what we go through and hopefully each passing day it will get easier!  Good luck with the 12 week testing I was quite nervous for that as well and I will be nervous for the 16 week testing that has to get done good luck!

  • Welcome @laurad75, I'm so excited for you!
@mtpbadger I feel exactly the same way! I'm 13 weeks today and still so freaking hesitant to tell anyone because it just feels so risky!!
  • @laurad75 yay!! So happy to see you on this side of the IF board. Welcome!
@mtpbadger 100% agree and understand you. I told myself I wouldn't move to the PAIF board until I hit 8 weeks, just nervous to get ahead of myself. And yes I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. NT scan is in 2 weeks for me and that's been the milestone I've been waiting for so I know whether or not to announce.

AFM: I had my first obgyn appt yesterday. Officially, albeit reluctantly, graduated from the RE. And I'm feeling so blah about the ob. She was so chill and happy and was like everything looks great, you're good. And I was like, come one gimme a more comprehensive exam, ask me more questions (be just like my RE) coddle me dammit!!  the U/S was so different too, she couldn't see anything through the wand, so we did it abdominally, and the little dude was swimming away so we couldn't hear a heartbeat (but did see it) and we didn't get a picture. She was like "I'm not concerned, it looks very good". It was such an uneventful visit. Lol
Since she's not worried, I'm taking it as a good sign, but it's such a different level of attention. Also, I'm seeing my reg obgyn' partner, as he doesn't take my insurance, so it's a double change.
Anyone else feel emotional and uneasy when graduating?
  • @coco305 yes! While I love my OB, she couldn't get very good measurements abdominally when I went last week and was like "well, everything seems to look good, you had a good US last week at your RE, I'm not worried" which of course made me worry. We did hear the heartbeat for the first time and OMG, that was awesome and emotional. It'll be an adjustment from the RE office's for sure!
  • @coco305  I was terrified graduating from my RV because I had to find a new OB my OB who I love no longer does delivery so I have to find a new OB.  I tried to research and ask but I was so sick during that time that it was hard for me to even research and figure out who to use I have to say though so far I am thrilled with my choice.   I Kind of had to make him pay attention to me in his office on our first visit when I was going through everything I have been through trying to get him to understand how scared I am and how cautious we need to be with me during my pregnancy so if I didn't get that feeling that he really was listening I don't think I would've been as happy, so I do understand your concerns for sure. And after my first visit with him i called two days later  in a panic as I started bleeding and luckily I caught him before he left his office and he had me come in right away which is the day before Thanksgiving so I was really happy that one everything was OK but that he at least cared that I was OK and wanted to check the baby and didn't tell me to just go straight to the ER.
Try expressing your feelings a little bit more to your OB on the next visit so she can understand you're not someone who just got knocked up one month on a whim.

@mtpbadger @20t  we have all struggled so long and hard to get here that I know for me it's still hard to believe that everything is fine and will be fine and I'm going to stay here. I have a feeling those fears for us never go away

  • Welcome @mtpbadger and @20T. I’m pretty sure our fears will go away when our little ones are ready to go off to college. Although at that point it will be worrying about other stuff.

Guess who had her first OB visit - yep this girl!! I too had to find a new OB but I loved her. She spent time going thru my history and made me feel really comfortable. Only issue she’s one of 2 docs in the office but the only one who delivers babies so we’ll see how that goes. I don’t go back for another 4 weeks which seems like an eternity.  The baby is growing right on track and everything looks good. I couldn’t be happier.

  • @rainbows2018 what a cute US!!! Glad u like ur dr that's awesome!! With my high risk dr doing tests I'm still seeing my nugget every 2 weeks im not ready for the full 4weeks!

  • Awe love the US pic. Bump had logged me out for days. I feel you on still being nervous. We’re 14+ weeks and I still can’t post on social media. We sent our Christmas announcement cards to extended family last week but for some reason I still can’t do it. We have another Appt next week so maybe after that.
Hope all you ladies are doing well. I can’t believe the holidays are so close now.

@Holls214 I don't plan on posting on social media until probably July ;) I'm too nervous to put myself out there like that.
Thanks for the advice @Hopeful_mom I will def bring up concerns in 4 weeks when I see her again.
  • @holls214 we’re not doing a big announcement on social media or anything. We’ll do something special for our parents and will call grandparents but will tell friends as we see them (which could very well be when I have a big old belly). My MIL is very active on social media and we will be telling her not to post anything since DH and I are fairly private on Facebook and stuff.
  • Yep no big announcements here either!! I feel like many will first know when I have the big ol belly too!!  I'll be too nervous to ever do the big social media post just not me, especially right now!

  • I already have a bump. Anyone else? None of my clothes fit argh. Only leggings for this girl right now. Still not ready to buy maternity clothes.

  • @holls214 I think mine is still mostly bloat, but there's something starting (at least I like to tell myself that!) I am wearing my "fat" clothes for now which still mostly fit, but by the end of the day I'm ready for sweatpants. My main problem is my boobs are already huge and my tops are getting snug. And my butt seems to have grown :( I'm trying to hold off on maternity clothes as well and will probably dig out my leggings here in the next week or so.
  • lurking**** @Holls214 and @mtpbadger don't fight maternity cloths!! they are amazing, they are your friend, they are so comfortable! Just do it, you will thank yourself later. Also I have found some great maternity cloths second hand or old navy has great sales so you don't have to break the bank.

My boobs haven’t really grown at all. They could use a little growth haha. I feel you on the sweatpants. I will check out Old Navy online. The one by my house doesn’t have maternity stuff in store.
Yay on the second beta!!! Great news. I’m always cold so no advice on being hot, but water is a staple in my life. Been thirsty since beta basically.

  • @laurad75 yay!!!! I’m still waiting on the glow....I just look exhausted wth huge bags under my eyes. I think I’m coming out then other side as I haven’t been felt like death the last two nights and was able to stay up past 8pm yay! Still get really nauseous if I don’t eat though. Eat whatever you can manage and try and do a combo of sugar and protein if you can (apple and cheese; yogurt) as that tended to make me feel slightly better.

I want to embace the maternity clothes but still still don’t want to jinx myself! I think after Christmas I might bite the bullet and see if there are any good sales!
  •  I was super scared to buy anything maternity as I'm afraid to jinx it as well! I did give in and purchase some maternity jeans but I feel like they're tight because I'm living in PJs really and sweats too so I'm all good in those clothes fitting.
I believe I have a bump now but it's forming more i. my upper belly, I feel like has progressed way more than the bump on the bottom I think when they meet up will be when I actually have a big Ol bump.
I feel like I have "fat clothes" too so I don't feel the need to have to run out and get things, I'll see.

ladies who can actually drink water that is amazing and keep drinking as much as you can.  It made me so sick in the beginning that I was the dehydrated which was bad so you keep drinking your water if you can get it in that's great!

I think I’m still at a point where people may think I’m fat and not necessarily PG but we shall see. I bought a ton of maternity clothes from motherhood maternity online - they had some good sales around thanksgiving. I’m loving the maternity leggings and dresses. I know it’s still early but right now comfort trumps everything.

@laurad75 congrats on the second beta but the glow might be an urban legend. I sleep 13 hours and wake up looking like zombies from walking dead. Luckily I work from home so I don’t even have to worry about looking presentable in the AM.
  • I agree on embracing maternity clothes as soon as possible! I gave in to maternity jeans at week 6, for the bloating, and instantly regretted not getting it while I did IVF - that would be so comfy for my bloated ohss self back then! Now all I wear is those jeans or leggings. Or PJs

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one living in pjs and sweats. Thankfully the jeans I've been wearing have a lot of stretch, so they're still ok. I did buy 1 pair of maternity jeans and I'm just wearing my flowy tops. My lower abdomen is def pregnancy swollen, but I think it's pushing up my fat so I have a swollen abdomen and a muffin top wahhhhh I still have a waist though (sort of)
I'm 10 weeks today, I can't believe I'm in the double digits, that second trimester can't come soon enough. I just want to stop feeling nauseous and hungry at the same time.
@laurad75 yay on that second beta!! And the pregnancy glow comes and goes for me. I had it before my beta, then it went away then it came back, now I'm pasty and dry. And yes I am thirsty allll the time! I cannot get enough ice water. I was def more thirsty at the very beginning, not even during ivf was I that thirsty. Just keep drinking water, it's good for you.
  • Had my NT scan today and my Dr's office just called with the results of that and the blood work. Risk of downs, trisomy 13 and 18 are as low as can be, but my Papp-A levels came back borderline low, which can indicate an issue with the growth of the placenta and the baby getting nutrients. She said it's barely borderline low, so not to be too concerned, but I'll have extra ultrasounds in the third trimester at weeks 28 and 32 to make sure baby is growing properly. One side effect can be low birth weight or pre-term labor. I'm trying not to worry, but after everything I've gone through to get here, it's hard not too! I'm just going to try to focus on getting to see my little one two extra times!
  • @mtpbadger Sorry to hear you are worried. I’m sure everything is fine otherwise they would run more tests. Glad to hear your other tests came back good. Mine also came back on the low side for 13, 18 and downs but they said they want to retest me this week. The results were 1 in 10,000. Makes me a little worried too. I don’t think we’re ever not going to worry ugh.

im so nervous for mine, since I'm 41 & did not pgd test. What week did you guys do yours in??
  • @coco305 I think it was week 11 we did ours. We’re doing more testing this week I think at week 15. We also did PGS testing on the embryo too.
