Listening to my favorite Pandora station for Christmas music this morning (R&B and Pop Holiday). Since I've had it for years I normally never have to skip anything and it is glorious...today it's being stupid and playing lots of old, slow Christmas music instead of it's normal upbeat, new music and I hate it!
You guys... Christmas has been magical this year. We didn't put up outdoor lights, other than Sexy Santa, but like, every night I pick up DS from daycare and we cruise for lights and listen to Christmas music and he just stares out the window looking at the lights yelling "Oh WOW!!!" Christmas is and has always been my favorite holiday ever so it's just so wonderful seeing it through my 2 year olds eyes.
Also, he has a Christmas pageant on Friday. I can't wait to see what a train wreck it will be for the 2 yr olds but they are "singing" I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas... It's going to be awesome!!
@supercoolstephy yes!! This age for them and time of year is simply the best! And DS has only just started preschool but I am living for it!!! He had his first school pictures that are so stinking adorable and they sent home Christmas crafts that are already plastered on my fridge and their Christmas party is this week. I just love it!
@supercoolstephy DD is 3, but she is so dang cute! She thinks SO (who is not her dad) hung up all of the lights at everyone's house "for her." There is even a big light show at a small theme park that you can see on the drive home and she thinks he hung all of those lights up for her. It is the sweetest thing ever.
Also, their Christmas show was the cutest thing ever, including the one random boy who stole the show with his sweet moves and the little girl who just stood there picking her nose the whole time. It was fantastic.
Also loving this time of year with a toddler. We walked a neighborhood known for its Christmas displays last night, and DD was in heaven! I have never seen her sit so still in her stroller...
You guys are making me excited for next year! DD still doesn't really care too much about what's going on, though she does like looking at lights and trees. She just doesn't get super excited yet because she doesn't understand. She'll be 2.5 next year so maybe then it'll be more "magical"!
@schaze I'm with you! DS is only 1.5 so he likes the lights and decorations but it isn't magical yet. I can't wait to see how he reacts to everything next year! I love this time of year!
Would love to know what everyone is getting their DH/SO for Christmas, if you're doing gifts this year! I've been so wrapped up in making sure I have everything for the baby that I haven't bought the first gift. But I should probably get to buying in case she decides to make her arrival early.
@whitta1218 - I make DH give me a list every year now because I've run out of gift ideas over the years. This year I got him clothes, a nutribullet (to make smoothies), and some random little stuff he wanted like some new bar and kitchen tools and music stuff (he likes to record music as a hobby). It's all sitting in my office and needs to be taken home so I can wrap it! We usually also do a "santa present" which is a big joint gift but sadly this year we ended up getting a new water heater installed instead. I may still get us an Amazon Echo but I'm not sure yet.
@whitta1218 This was my realization last week. I ordered DH a nice coat from Macy's (on sale!) that should come in the mail today. I am hoping to also get him a few small things this weekend. Hope someone on here has cute ideas too lol.
@whitta1218 I got DH some Bose noise cancelling headphones because he spends a lot of time on planes. I also got him a home bacon smoking kit that he can do in the oven. He loves bacon, so I figured it would be fun for him. I got it through a company called Man Crates and they have a crate for everything and stuff priced from $20-$300, so lots of variety. Plus their customer service is excellent, I had a minor problem with my order and they fixed it super quick.
@whitta1218 DH has been going on for months about how he wants a wedding band tattoo so I'm paying for that, plus a cookbook he wants and probably some beard oil. We said we weren't spending much on each other this year, which is good, we don't need much since we usually go out and buy what we want when we want it.
I got DH a work bench for the garage. Actually, he bought it for himself and is calling it his Christmas present...haha. He does this every year. We're trying to keep our presents to a minimum because we're having a baby (duh) and because I'm going to be taking a TON of time off, so I'll probably just get him a couple more things. No idea what though...
@whitta1218 I got DH a shuffleboard table! He's been wanting one since we moved into our house (the basement has a bar with the perfect spot for it). He set it up the next day!
Ordering stuff for the hospital bag today. One of the items on my list is snacks and now all I can think about are fruit snacks. I don't want them in pouches. I wan't a box of fruit snacks like they have for cheeze-its. Is that too hard to ask for?
I have gotten my FI sneakers, shoe laces for his boots, a TENS massage device for his poor hips, and the Mission Critical baby carrier. I feel like I should get him more, but I also know I should be modest with the baby this year. @Cricket99 I LOVE Man Crates and have gotten him a few crates from them before, they are awesome!
@Cricket99 and @jaclyn0405 I also Love Man Crates. I used it for my brothers a few years ago. I made sure to get them the duct tape wrapping so they has fun opening it.
I have no idea what to get DH this year! And his birthday is right after Christmas so I need to come up with two gifts. I was thinking of finding him "dad" stuff for one of them since he'll become a dad soon.
I actually haven't done any Christmas shopping. Fortunately, we draw names in my family so from us we just need to get something for two ppl and then my niece and nephews. DH got his family presents from China and Poland so I think we are good there but I need to double check with him. I'll be doing some Amazon shopping this week for sure.
@kelk5 I totally ordered the duct tape wrapping and it came without it!!! They refunded it super quick, so no big deal, and I just pulled out my own trusty roll of duct tape and wrapped it right up. Then of course I wrapped it in wrapping paper sonDH can open that, then get mad
@whitta1218 DH bought himself a 75” TV on Black Friday so I’m not getting him things like I usually do. He’s getting the Super Nintendo NES Classic, a half zip pullover for work, new Ugg slippers since he lives in his and could use a new pair, a Kiehl’s man kit to try and cards against humanity. Some other small things for his stocking. He won’t suspect most of this stuff actually, but the nintendo and the card game I kinda wanted for myself? Lol. DH is not a video game dude but we can both get into some old school super mario.
@whitta1218 I got DH a new electric toothbrush (a quip) bc I thought it looked cool, a retro TMNT lunchbox for him to take to his new job (squeeeee) and a set of whiskey ice ball molds....none of these things are super exciting but omfg he is so hard to buy for! usually we just buy an excursion for whatever trip we have planned, but with the terrorist making his debut we don’t have a trip in the works right now lol.
Everyone has such good gifts! DH jumped on the computer last night and decided to order himself some stuff from Duluth trading company so I was like "Welllll Merry Christmas to ya!" I'm also getting him some boots, a rearview mirror for his Polaris ranger, and I have no idea what else yet! Stocking stuffers will include a couple Qalo rings because he lost his last one fishing.
I, on the other hand, have no idea what to ask for!
I make dh a photo book every year on blurb that he really looks forward to. (Last year i didn't get him one and he was really upset so now I'm a year behind). Plus he'll get stocking stuffers and one or 2 other small non - baby things.
This thread totally helped me, so thanks ladies! @JuliaGoolia719, I don't know why I didn't think to get DH a new toothbrush! His broke about a month ago, so I will be adding one to his Christmas list now. Also, @whitta1218...DH wears his wedding ring only half the time because he hates how restrictive it feels, so I will totally be getting him a silicone ring too. Again, don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm honestly the WORST gift giver. I consider myself a pretty creative person...except when it comes to buying gifts!
We decided last year not to give each other gifts anymore (for now). Instead, we've done one big gift for both of us during the year. Last year, we got a new car, and this year was a piano. Makes it so much easier because he is so hard to shop for!
The only thing DH has expressed interest in is a monitor headset to go with his drone. Not only that, when I asked DS what he thinks we should get for daddy, his only suggestion is "a helicopter drone". Soooo I guess that's it. I'm thinking of asking my sisters if they want to go in on it with me since it's kind of over budget. (He is planning to save up for it.)
@schaze I wasn't responding to the gift thread because I felt like the only A$$hole who doesn't buy a gift for their DH We decided a long time ago that we buy things we like throughout the year when we need them and we always ended up needing or buying something buy right around a holiday we would normally do gifts for so it seemed pointless to us! This year...I apparently get to buy tires for my car Also for those wondering about the silicone rings...they are lifesavers! My DH rarely will wear his original ring and always wears his silicone one. His job as a mechanic and welder he was always taking it off anyway and now he feels comfortable leaving the silicone one on and working. I bought a set of 3 off of Amazon for around $12 instead of the more expensive name brand ones and he's been fine. And he's gone through a couple already I also got myself a set off Amazon for when we go four wheeling and mudding so I didn't have to not wear a ring. I've been wearing it for the last week or so because my fingers will randomly swell and I kept taking my rings off at work or sticking them in my pocket. I feel better with it on (less restrictive) and I don't feel like I might lose my expensive rings!
@schaze and @conineml I am jealous. I love the idea of getting gifts for each other because we are not that romantic generally and it is a chance to do that... but it NEVER turns out that way and things would be much easier if we skipped it altogether!
@conineml - My fingers plumped up pretty early on so I've been rocking my silicone ring (got mine from Qalo) since around 15 weeks, I think. I miss my sparkly rings but the silicone ring is so nice and comfortable!
Just scheduled a haircut, pedicure and brow waxing for Saturday. And I'm dyeing my hair next Tuesday. I need to get this stuff done. Yes... I am vain but like... I haven't had a haircut since February, a pedicure since September and I can't do them myself anymore, my brows have been needing to be corrected but I've been saying "I'm growing them out" for probably 8 months, and I just realized how bad my blonde roots are coming in to my dark hair and I need to dye it so that when I'm in the hospital my hair isn't bleeding and staining everything when it gets wet.
Haha, @supercoolstephy...you and I are soulmates. I must be vain too. I just got my hair done last week, I'll be getting a pedicure this weekend, and if I hadn't started "re-grooming" last week, I would probably be getting my lady parts waxed too. But, I got that under control on my own, so we're good!
+1 for the vain party train. I got a pedi after my doctors appointment this morning. And will be going to get my brows waxed this weekend. I got my hair done about a month ago so it's still ok. But I'll be getting it done PP before our newborn photos
Great minds think alike. I scheduled a color and cut for this Saturday when I would be almost 38 weeks to ensure my roots are done when LO arrives. Purchased my nice makeup for the hospital etc etc. Priorities
Yep! Hair and brows next week and I've been trying to figure out when I have time for a pedi lol I have no shame about it I also contemplated a wax down there but decided I did a decent enough job for now!

I got SO something, but already gave it to him. I need to get something else, but I don't know what to do.
