  • What number are you trying for? 3

Cycle/Month?  Waiting for cycle 6,  been TTC since Feb.

    WTO/TWW? Benched

Ages of other child(ren)? DD is 6 DS is almost 5.

Any thoughts about this cycle? None

    Ayy questions?  None.

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? I love everything about Christmas time. But, I was really looking forward to take DD to the Nutcracker.  She was mesmerized and behaved so well.  Unfortunately, the lady beside us noticed her issues (most likely ASD) before the show and complained to the attendant and tried to get us moved.  She lied and said my daughter spit on her.  I guess she was afraid my daughter was going to be disruptive. I sat and cried during most of the first act.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Besides that I'm irritated it's not over? I'm cd34 with 6 days heavy spotting prior to actually starting, so it feels like cd40. I've had a few AF cramps, but nothing that convinces me its going to show up soon. All tests still negative. I'm beginning to wonder if I even ovulated this month.

    Any questions? Nah

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? Just the whole experience. It's the first year he is starting to understand it, and it's magical to see

Any thoughts about this cycle? My chart got all screwed up this month because DS hid my thermometer for a couple days.  I think I’m still WTO, as I haven’t felt mittelschmerz yet.

    Any questions?

For mamas with kids with ASD and/or SPD, at what point did you decide to get your child evaluated?

DS (19 months) is starting to show some red flags for ASD and/or SPD. Hand flapping, wheel spinning (not obsessively), covering his ears, possible speech delay. But he has lots of other behaviors that seem perfectly typical (good eye contact, eats and sleeps well, plays with toys normally, flexible with changes to his routine,  affectionate.) I don’t know if I’m reading too much into this and should just give him some more time to catch up. He’s not even 2. But I’ve also read that early intervention is crucial. Not sure what the right course of action is. I’d appreciate any thoughts from those with experience with this.

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? All of it, really! This will be the first year that DS will be somewhat aware of the festivities, since he was just 7 months last year. Can’t wait to see what his favorite gifts will be!

  • @concreteayngel. I apologize for the novel, ASD is my life, lol., DS is for sure ASD, DD is in the process of being reevaluate (there is for sure something going on, but what.). With DD, every told me it was in my head, their kids did the same thing, etc.... I listened, FTM, plus, she had no delays. At 18 months, I was certain something was off, at 4, her doctors finally agreed and she started seeing a therapist, at 5 she was supposed to have her first ASD eval and the doctor took one look at her and said she didn't have it and didn't do an eval.  She was diagnosed with anxiety, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, OCD tendencies and mood dysregulation ( sounds a lot like ASD to me and her therapist...)
DS, though, was delayed from the beginning.  He met only gross motor milestones on time.  He rocked, he ignored us, he had clear sensory issues, he barely spoke, at 1, I was convinced he had ASD.  At 2.5 the doctors finally agreed and we started early intervention.  He was evaluated and initially we were told he was not on the spectrum and would "be normal" in about a year.  He was reevaluated and diagnosed at 3.

FWIW, both my kids will play appropriately either toys (DD often sets up her toys, like her doll house and then is done) but both have imaginations.  DD has always been able to express affection (for a while it was only on her terms) we did have to teach DS how to hug, but he constantly hugs and kisses me now.  Both kids hand flap.  DS used to be obsessed with wheels, but now not so much. He loves fans though.    Both kids will make eye contact.  Dd's is fleeting and DS only does when he feels like it.

I would definitely look into it, especially if only to help/evaluate the speech delay.  Something I wish I knew was you can self refer to early intervention.

@spottedginger, thank you, it was worth it to see her so excited.  And I/my mom gave her a nice talking to after.

@meeks2020, thanks, we have dealt with jerks/judgement in the past, but this one really got to me because she was being so good (which, honestly is not always the case, lol).  It is so exciting that your DS is starting to get Christmas and be excited!

Cycle/month? Month 2, cycle 1, leaning towards NTNP for financial reasons mentioned in previous weeks

WTO/TWW: question of the day! I have a feeling I’ve switched into TWW, quite possibly almost a week ago. I’ll explain in the questions section.

    Ages of other children? 1.5

I’m lumping thoughts and questions general and specific into one spot. Sorry. Easier question: does anyone have a LO who, while BFing, was intolerant of certain vitamins? Like, say, the prenatal you’re supposed to continue while BFing? Since she was born, I haven’t been able to take any sort of supplement without extreme fussiness to the point of not sleeping. At all. So I just didn’t take it and tried to supplement naturally through foods I ate. Well, now that we’re TTC again, I started my prenatal, thinking her digestive system should be more mature now than a year and a half ago. But we had about 5 rough nights before I clued in again. Stopped taking the vitamin three days ago and she’s back to her “good” sleeping again. (She’s never slept through the night....) So I’m not sure how to start up that routine without throwing off her already not so great sleep. Which brings me to question #2: anyone up for a chart stalk? I don’t feel comfortable posting it in the regular chart stalk thread because so much of my “data” is insufficient due to DD’s sleep issues and I have a whole slew of new symptoms since this is my first post partum cycle. But I thought I had a good grasp on temping/charting and have no idea what to make of this month. If anyone is interested, could you please tell me how to put it in a spoiler? I think I may have ovulated, but only if I discard two old temps, and only because I have a not-so-positive-but-closest-I’ve-seen-to-positive OPK marked on my chart. I put it in thinking I’d take it out later but wanted to remember the date and now I think that’s influencing the crosshairs. Also, cramps. Granted, I’ve only had one post partum period, but I’m feeling the same cramps as I did last month for 10-12 days before my first period showed up. I’m talking cramps like I’ve never experienced before. Like, beginning of labor dull pains every time I sit/stand/use the bathroom. Is this normal? Have I just been lucky to have never experienced real cramps, or is this something I should be concerned about?

GTKY: This question was my answer last week! I’m excited for all of it. I’m sure DD will get more out of the holiday season in future years, but she’s my first and she’s so much more aware than she was last year (at only 7 months!) that I feel like this year is her “first” actually knowing what’s going on. Kind of. Haha
  • @concreteayngel it's worth getting checked out. My son was showing some signs at that age and our OT warned me, but she also told me it could be due to his difficulty communicating.  We started socializing him a lot and he caught up on his speech and now although he has a few flags, he does not have ASD. We all believe (by all I mean dh, me, and medical professionals) it's due to his environment and medical traumas. All of this to say- get it checked out, but be open to it may be due to developmental delays and could resolve once he is communicating better.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm hopeful. Got a positive opk today which is the earliest one I've ever gotten. It's our last cycle before we seek help, so I'm trying to be positive!

Any questions? Does anyone else's toddlers still have a "witching hour"? Mine still gets super cranky from 1630-1700 daily

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? Well, we just did one by decorating the tree as a family...even the toddler helped. We will still make Christmas cookies and pies together as well. Most of the things we do traditionally happen in the kitchen, so we've been trying to get the eldest involved more. She'll help us make Christmas morning breakfast too :)

Any questions? Is it normal to get super emotional around ovulation? I was a wreck yesterday, triggered by the attempted attack in NY, but I was weepy and sad all day. It felt very PMSy but it's too early for that. WOndering if it was hormonal though.

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year?

This is my first year with a kid so I am SUPER excited for everything. I know she doesn't understand yet, but it's so much more fun this year already. I love buying presents for kids...they're so easy to please. Can't wait for her to open her first presents and spend time with family.

@holly321 WOW that lady is an asshole. My husband's brother is autistic and he has some real issues as a result, mostly because of other people. To this day, he hates going out in public with his brother because he feels so defensive and anxious because he thinks everyone is looking and judging. They grew up in the 70's and they faced a lot of crap as a result. I am always telling him people are so much more accepting and understanding now. It's always awful to realize some people are still stuck in the 1950's.

  • @holly321 - WTAF that is awful!!! That woman must have a heart of stone. I couldn't imagine being so cold and callous. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. What a witch.

@concreteayngel - I was concerned about my son, too, because he had some behaviors I thought were red flags (loved spinning wheels, issues with tags on clothing, got angry when things were out of place, speech delayed) but was otherwise typical in his motor skills, problem solving, and has always been affectionate and sought out the company of other kids. I didn't get him checked because his pediatrician wasn't concerned but said he'd give us a referral if his social behavior regressed or the red flags got worse. He didn't start talking until he was 2.5. He'd grunt, gesture, and say monosyllabic words when he got excited (bus, car, dog, etc). Then one day he just started talking in full sentences. It was the weirdest thing. Prior to that I did everything the pediatrician told me to do (narrated all my actions, chattered at him while driving and at the grocery store, read books to him, asked him questions, pointed at signs and read them, described colors, actions, and objects). Nothing. I just had to wait for him to talk on his own accord. But I guess all my drilling got in his head, at least.

It certainly doesn't hurt to get your son checked for ASD and would at least alleviate your concerns if there isn't a problem but get the ball rolling if your doctor suspects an issue. It's hard not to worry - I definitely understand.

Any thoughts about this cycle: just waiting for DW to get it together and get her damn blood work done! This is why I want to be the one to get pregnant. She drags her feet when it comes to medical stuff. Ugh. I'm gonna have to start pestering her again after Christmas because she's clearly not making this a priority.

Any questions? Potty training. We're dealing with a very resistant potty-trainer. He screams if we set him on the toilet, begs for diapers, tells us when he needs a diaper change, won't tolerate running around bare-bottomed, hates his underwear (even though we've bought him pairs with Minions, Paw Patrol, Superman, Batman, and Thomas & Friends). It's driving me insane. We've tried rewards, encouragement, and we've forced him to go without a diaper for several hours but relented because we didn't want him to get a UTI :\ he filled the diaper immediately after putting it on him. We want him to start preschool next year but he can't until he's potty trained. He'll be 3 in February and he's not even close to being emotionally ready to use the toilet. Any tips or ideas? I have nightmares that 10 years from now he'll be playing his X-Box and will shout from the basement "Mooooooooooom, I need a diaper change!"

GTKY: I'm just excited about Christmas in general! DS is loving all the parties and activities around town. We're going to get our tree tonight, I think, and decorate it this evening.

Any questions? I am not currently temping but I thought I would start if I am not successful this cycle. I have to get up a lot in the night because my 2 year old is a terrible sleeper lately. Is it even worth temping?

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? We went to Zoo Lights this year with the kids and they loved it! We will probably go every year now that they are old enough to enjoy it.

@holly321 OMG I’m so sorry about that complete and total bitch sitting next to you. I seriously want to cry for you right now. I just can’t believe there are people like that in this world. I feel so angry for you!!! You are such a wonderful mother to take her to The Nutcracker and are you creating such wonderful memories for her. Your DD probably won’t remember that awful woman and will only remember what an amazing night she had with you <3 *so many hugs*

@meeks2020 Sorry for the heavy spotting and cramps. That sounds really awful. Hopefully AF starts soon so you can begin a new cycle.

@concreteayngel I would get him evaluated ASAP. We had my son evaluated around 20 months. If they think it’s too early, they will tell you so and schedule another meeting in a couple months.

@catwoman8731 Sorry I don’t have any advice for you on your chart or the vitamins, but I hope you get it figured out.

@matryoshkadoll and anyone else who may be up for a good chart stalk. So many explanations....
    1) my daughter does not sleep through the night. Most nights I’m up 2-3 times, which, if you do the math, rarely gives me a 3 hr stretch as works best for most accurate temps. This also means sometimes my times are inconsistent. Toward the middle of the month I gave up on the 3 hrs part and decided to just go with the same time every day. So there’s that. I think now they are all within a 15-20 min time frame (I took the early temps more than once a morning and changed later so they are all around 6:00 am)
    2) the chart without crosshairs is including all temps. The chart with cross hairs is ifvi discard temps on cd 12 and 13. I noticed they were remarkably higher and was curious if it would give me crosshairs if I discarded. It was only after the discarding and crosshairs that I noticed it also aligned with my (not actually positive but the closest I’ve seen) opk. My cramps also popped up the very next day, which, if they are the same as last month (first pp cycle, so I know nothing’s guaranteed- it’s all so new)  would put me at a 26 day cycle and 10 day lp, which is pretty consistent with what I was before DD.
Basically, all sorts of disclaimers, just looking for opinions. I know I’ve “meddled” with it quite a bit to get it to look like I ovulated (discarded temps, not truly positive opk) so I’m wondering if I did ovulate or if I’m just working too hard to make it look like I did. Thanks for any thoughts!

Edited to fix spoiler and make formatting look prettier :)
  • @holly321 Ugh, people!! I was a BI for years and my mom was a BC so I am very familiar with ASD and the looks/remarks/attitudes that kids and their families get. It's amazing how much ignorance there still is given its prevalence. I'm sorry it ruined the show for you, but am glad DD loved it!

@meeks2020 My last cycle was so long as well, I'm thankfully finally officially on day 1 but it's so annoying when a useless cycle just draaaags. Do you temp to know if you did O?

@concreteayngel Have you talked to his family doctor about your concerns? I know here it is often the family doctors that will make the referral if there is any concern (but generally the parents bring it up). And if your doctor won't you should be able to self-refer. The testing can be time consuming and draining (and I imagine pricey if you don't have insurance?) but if you are concerned it is worth doing early on. He doesn't have to check every box in order to be on the Spectrum (most kids don't) but if you feel something is off I'd look into it. That mama intuition is a powerful thing and doctors can be wrong. A lot of the kids I've worked with were diagnosed after parents insisting there was something wrong and doctors saying it was normal and/or they'd grow out of it. That being said, it could also be nothing but if it would ease your mind to know that as well then also worth doing.

@catwoman8731 My cramps after both kids during my first few cycles were ridiculously bad - I don't know if it's typical or not but they did thankfully level back off to normal after a few cycles.

@kristah2 Christmas is so much more fun once they are 'aware' of it happening! I would say be about 3 my kids both really knew it was coming and 'got' what it was about which makes it so much more amazing!

@josie12367 Woohoo for a positive OPK!

@matryoshkadoll I love Christmas dresses and seeing the littles all dressed up!

@rosebud332 Welcome! I definitely get more emotional around O, and the week leading up to AF!

@wishiwaspreggo That's so tough when you are waiting on DW to start the process. Is it because she's scared of needles, etc? Or she just doesn't prioritize it like you do? My son will be 4 in February and still isn't potty trained (although we are finally almost there - he always poops in the potty but will still pee in underwear and doesn't care if he's wet) - I had always heard boys were more resistant and stubborn and it's definitely proved true for mine. So I don't have any tips but know you aren't alone!

@eleven_ I find even though I'm a horrible sleeper I can still get a fairly clear chart so worth a shot.

    Any questions? Not this week.

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? • @elothair I didn't temp this cycle, only used OPKs, co, and cm. I never got a positive OPK this month.  They for darker, but no true positive. I never tracked my periods prior to ttc but I always counted on them coming at the very beginning of the month, now this month we're approaching mid month? Also I love your Christmas even tradition! What movie are you doing this year?

@wishiwaspreggo ugh potty training is awful. I feel for you. Ds has been peeing independently in the toilet for a year, the whole pulling pants down, up, washing hands, ect. He will be 35 before he poops on the toilet.

  • @meeks2020 thanks for your story! It gives me hope! And I’m sorry about your long cycle. Those are extra hard!

@wishiwaspreggo Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m hoping that DS is going through something similar. He’s hit all his other milestones on time, and late talkers are very common on DH’s side of the family. When he does babble, it sounds like he’s telling a story, with inflection and facial expressions to match...the words just aren’t there! I’m inclined to give him a bit more time and see if it clicks.

@elothair We are currently on Medicaid, and the clinic we were assigned to kinda sucks. The doctors aren’t even doctors, but registered nurse practitioners. When I took DS for his 18 month check-up, I expressed concern that he wasn’t pointing or waving. DS then started hand flapping, which the RNP mistook as a wave, and was out the door before I could ask another question.

  • @wishiwaspreggo Ugh my 3.5 year old is still not fully potty trained. What kind of potty do you guys use? Like one on the toilet or a little potty? We have both and I think that helped so that he could have options. We just put the little potty in the living room by the TV. We told him he can watch his iPad or play with mommy’s phone if he sits on the potty. He will now go #1 in the potty, but not #2.

@meeks2020 What is it with not pooping in the potty?!?! My DS absolutely refuses but has no issues with peeing. I don’t get it.

    WTO/TWW? TWW

    Ages of other child(ren)? 10.5m

Any thoughts about this cycle? Ever hopeful, but no. It would be too easy if this worked. I don't know why tfas seems harder than ttc #1,  but I'm emotionally much more upset now. I also don't know why I'm impatient, we decided on trying when he was 1y. But it took 8m (10 cycles) for ds and thought we'd get a jump on it jic. But here we are, ahead of schedule and I'm fruatrated it hasn't happened yet. I'm ridiculous.

Any questions? Vaginal temping. Better? Easier? Faster? More consistent? Or shouldI just deal with wonky temps due to random wakeups?

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year?

Tbh: he'll be aboit 11m. He has no idea what's happening. I'm excited to see him shred the wrapping paper and get a kick out of the boxes. But no traditions yet, next year I'll try

  • @Mylitta I temp vaginally and still have Rocky Mountain temps due to random wake ups. In my understanding, vaginal is only better if you’re a mouth breather or something else that may affect your mouth directly (not sure what that might be). Vaginal is definitely “straight from the source” as I heard someone else say a while ago, but I don’t think it will solve the problem of random wake ups. Someone correct me if I’m wrong though - I’m certainly no authority on temping.
  • Adding one tag I missed:

@eleven_ DD's day care teachers said that toddlers just don't understand what poop is and they feel like they're losing a part of their bodies, since they can feel it coming out. So they just freaked out by it and don't want to do it on the potty. IDK if that's true but it kind of makes sense.

GTKY: Honestly, we don't really have any specific traditions. The last 2 years I made Christmas ornaments with DD but I haven't done it yet this year.  :/ I'm hoping to go to the craft store to pick something up soon. I looooove Christmas though so I'm super excited! We just don't do anything as a tradition.

  • @offtoneverland, unfortunately, DD heard the entire thing.  I was back and forth about calling the theater and complaining that the attendant spoke in front of my child.  But the whole thing just makes me tired and frustrated thinking about it.
@Mylitta , I don't vaginally temp, but my understanding is it is more consistent with inconsistent sleep.
@elothair, I am sorry about you hitting double digits.  It is frustrating.  I know I haven't been able to try most of the time we have been "trying" but it is hard to think that we could have a baby by now.
  • @holly321 Ugh, I'm sorry. That must be so hard on all of you. Sending lots of hugs your way.

  • What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 1/1

WTO/TWW? WTO I think. We legit just decided to go ahead so I’m not tracking.

    Ages of other child(ren)? 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? I feel so weird about TTGP. I’ve never done it before (DS was an oops). I’ve literally been wanting to try for a year, but now that I can I have nothing but concerns in my head.

    Any questions? Not yet.

GTKY: What Christmas tradition are you most looking forward to starting or sharing with your LOs this year? Not having to go to my MIL on Christmas Day, but celebrating on different day. The last two years she has INSISTED on doing Christmas on Christmas. Last year DS had a huge meltdown, so this year she suggested we change it and I was like thank god!

  • @offtoneverland
I know its been a bit. I've just been rushing around and feeling like I have no time. Sorry I phased out a bit on you guys. Christmas in Florida? That's kind of awesome. Hoping you get to share some awesome news soon!

@catwoman8731 @holly321 Thank you ladies. I think it might not help much. I normally don't mouth breathe but I've woken up a couple times hot and a bit sweaty, but still get a ~97.5 temp, or wake up cold and its ~97.3. So I don't know. Pat of me thinks I'm just looking for something to control. I appreciate your insight though. I don't know I'd have realized that without your comments.
  • @holly321 I’ll have to look more into FPIES. From what I read, it sounds much more severe than what we’re experiencing. But maybe there are mild cases? Thank you, I had never heard of it before.

@offtoneverland That’s what I feared. I feel like I’ve manipulated it too much to consider it accurate. I set it back to nothing discarded last night, and it’s all just so up and down. I’m disappointed....

@elothair The cramps aren’t even that bad...it’s just that they’re deep inside me, and go on for so long, all the time. It’s weird. I used to have cramps that were up in the front, a quick twinge, and then done. And these ones are more inside, almost in back, and ongoing pretty much whenever I move my lower torso.
  • @offtoneverland and @eleven_ - Yeah, we have a little toddler potty for him. We've tried 3 different versions. One was a cartoonish type of potty that made flushing sounds and had lights and music. Didn't work so we tried a bright red kiddy toilet (because he liked it so much in his potty book and pointed it out every time we read it). That didn't work. So no we have a toilet that's a near-exact replica of an adult toilet except it's miniaturized for kids. We also have a potty seat for the adult toilet. DS would've made an excellent little brother but that's not how the cards shook out for him. I really think if he's around other kids who use the potty he'd follow suit. I tried teaching him how to build with Legos (those Duplo large ones) and he didn't get it but a few days later we went to some event and he joined a group of 4-5 year olds who were playing with Legos and he picked it up right away. He's much more interested in learning something if it's from a kid who's a couple years older than him. My MIL watches him during the day so he's not regularly exposed to kids in a daycare setting but I want to enroll him in preschool next year. However, he can't go to the preschool I want until he potty trains. I have 8 months to get him to learn. Ugh.

@elothair - DW is 1) cheap so she doesn't want to spend money on blood work until next year; 2) she gets really anxious about missing work; and 3) we have a lot going on right now with the holidays so she hasn't really thought about it. I mentioned it yesterday again and she agrees she needs to do it. I'm just going to ask her to go in the morning next week before work since she won't have student appointments and get it done. It won't take more than an hour, for crying out loud. We won't know anything about timelines or payment schedules until they get her AMH numbers - if it were me I'd have had my blood drawn 2 weeks ago :P she drives me nuts. And she's not even doing the heavy lifting here - *I* am. Once she gets those eggs out of her body she's done but she has no idea how hard pregnancy can be. I deserve an award.
  • @catwoman8731I wanted to agree with your discarded temp chart, but I reread your post. First pp period you are probably in for the long haul. While it is annoying to temp for forever, it is actually really useful during long cycles to not try to think you're pregnant every day. As for the opk I think you can have multiple surges as your body gears up.

After my second baby I had consistently very long cycles. Now after my third cycles are stupidly short. Changes all the time.

How is your DH with night wakings? Once we are trying for a baby again I ask my DH to help more at night... as prep for havin a newborn and doing double duty and so I wean a little more and can get pregnant easier. Not sure if that's an option for you, but maybe he could take a three hour shift. GL!

  • @matryoshkadoll DH is great, and often offers to help with MOTN duties, but DD won’t  have him. He rocks, sings, offered milk bottles, offered water, everything under the sun when we were trying to night wean. She just cries for me, or decides it’s time to get up and play. So after 2 hrs of that, 5-7 nights in a row, I give up (we’ve tried probably 4 times since June), nurse her, and we all get back to bed. She has just recently (as of the last week) knocked back to one waking a night, usually around 2:30 or 3:00, and it’s getting quicker and quicker, so I think she may finally be self-weaning.

Also, for anyone who’s been following my chart and might be interested (I know you’re all on the edge of your seats out there over MY chart haha), my temp jumped significantly this morning. So here’s hoping it stays high!
  • @catwoman8731, fpies has many levels of severity.  My son had it, and some foods put him in hypovolemic shock, others mild diarrhea or constipation.  But, when the food is ingested through breast milk, it is usually a much milder response.  We didn't know my son had it while he was breastfeeding, but in retrospect, I can see the patterns of him getting sick on certain days .  Eg, he was really allergic to rice, and I ate Chinese food every Sunday with my dad, and he was always cranky on Sunday/monday.
