I am bummed about the popularity of Isabella and Sophia. I love both those names, but I don’t like the idea of there being a plethora of other people named the same thing all throughout the child’s life.
During my first pregnancy had DD been a boy we were really liking the name Elliot. We mentioned it to my brother in law who immediately made a face and was like "But the kids would call him Smelliot!" Never heard of that before! We laughed it off but now it's in my head so we most likely won't use it now lol.
As a former preschool teacher there are several names that immediately come to mind that I wouldn't use because I associate them with some of my more "challenging" students over the years.
@oneblessedmess My parents thought they were safe with my name, then in elementary school some kid say "Katie Katie big fat lady!" and my mum decided she gave up with names :') kids are mean.
PS - I like Elliot .... I may put that on my boy list {if you don't mind} since we still haven't decided on a boy name even though I'm convinced it's a girl.
Because I grew up with such a popular first name and always had to go by Sabby Firstinitialofmylastname I refuse to name my kids anything in the top 100 popular names and top 50 is my absolute cut off. It's too bad because I really like some of the more popular names but I hated my experience growing up (and still in adulthood)
Re: GTKY: Baby Names You Won't Use for Silly Reasons
ETA and this will make no sense if you haven't been lurking other BMBs..
