  • I kind of hate second tri because it’s such a waiting game. First tri is exciting because you just found out your pregnant, and you’re starting to experience all the symptoms, and then third tri is exciting because you’re officially in the last leg of pregnancy.

Second tri is just.... meh. At least I’m not vomiting anymore? Except I am still vomiting so I’m mostly just bored. :D

    @heatherdubrow yay!!!!
  • @ShawnnaO, I'm not good at keeping secrets. At all. It was our compromise to find out the sex. I wanted to know, DH didn't. We compromised at finding out and not telling anyone. And it's killing me.
  • @justkeeptrying I love team green for everyone else but me.  I love finding out with the birth announcements what you all are having.

  • @DDRRT1982, totally. I loved being team green with DS. But *TW* after 2 back to back miscarriages, I wanted to feel in control and KNOW something about this baby *End TW*.

Plus I was 99% sure my son was a girl. I was thrilled with a boy. But it definitely took me several weeks/months after he was born for it to "sink in" that he was a boy.

And that his name wasn't Cole. I called my son Cole for several months. His name is Adam. We never discussed the name Cole for him. It was weird. Lol
  • @DDRRT1982 what a beautiful tradition and what beautiful kiddos!! ❤❤❤
  • Agree with everyone on the boring part & it’s just the part of our pregnancy. Also, the privacy thing can be hard...do people want to talk about what’s really going on...awkward body, body aches, sex or lack of drive...not so much on here, but those are more what’s prob going on  :D

I can maybe start a new thread about something like:
Holiday traditions you want to start with your LO?
    Gift ideas for SO...
What are you most nervous about with having a new baby?

Let me know if anything sounds like it could liven things up a bit.

  • @DDRRT1982 my heart  <3 what a wonderful tradition for a gorgeous family.
  • @mdfarmchick, I specifically asked him if the March BMB applied lol! And yes it does. Mainly because there are some women in here who are also in my May 2015 group and he was very clear that I'm not allowed to tell them (sigh). Which is probably harder then not telling my own sister/parents truthfully lol My May group is so close. I tell them everything. It was VERY hard for me to wait to tell them I was pregnant until I told DH first haha!
  • I was just thinking this morning that I need to quit lurking and post more. I've been sick and crabby and just haven't had anything helpful or good to say. XD

I didn't know there was a FB group started...

  • @fatstagnation one was started a few weeks ago and a few went over there but most are still contributing to the bump as well. I think it’s been established that a separate group will be started when we’re all closer to delivering.
  • @barrelocarol I have no objections. I vote do it! Side note, I know you want to do a homebirth... are you getting a doula?
  • @barrelocarol I have been procrastinating about picking a doula this time around because my doula from the last time will still be doing her midwifery training in March and I really just want her. I went searching last night and have committed to emailing at least three options by this weekend. Do you like the hypnobirthing classes/training?
  • So my toddler spilled half of my yeti cup of ice cold water all over my half of our bed. On the night that MH worked until 1 am. So pregnant me, with not a lot of grace, managed to clear the bed and change the sheets ((shout out to the Threshold brand waterproof mattress protector at Target—it works)). But in the process of changing the sheets, I really $&@ed my back up. And then the toddler wanted to snuggle and fell asleep on me. And my hips decided to join the revolt. Consequently I was stuck on the bed under a sleeping toddler for 4+ hours until MH got home. And I’m still awake at almost 2 am because MH accidentally woke the toddler and everything is so muscle crampy that I can’t sleep anyway. I need the weekend.
  • @mdfarmchick I'm up too! though it is about 7 here now.. I've been up for a while.  just laying here quietly hoping ti fall back asleep eventually
  • @syssa-o I just want to say I'm super jealous of your kid's sleep schedule! Both my girls stopped napping around age 2.... I say let him nap as long as he wants a nap!
  • @heatherdubrow I’M jealous of his sleep! I guess we won’t really worry about the school transition till at least spring/summer. I’ve just been getting side eyed from some people when I mention his nap. Oh well. It just means that I get a nice two hour window mid day to sleep. Not complaining :D
  • @barrelocarol a challenge yourself thread sounds brilliant! I'm in.

  • @syssa-o My oldest napped until 3.5 at day care. We had kids at day care nap until the last week before school started. If he didn't need it, he wouldn't sleep. Don't even worry about the school transition yet...soak up the quiet time.
  • I coughed so much and so hard I bruised my ribs and pulled muscles last weekend. It still is super painful. Baby had also decided it's a good place to tuck to make matters worse. DS has been a big help taking laundry to the basement and vacuuming since it hurts so much. Last night wasn't the first night I slept in my bed instead of on the couch sitting up.

  • @syssa-o my son just turned 2 in September and DH’s family already side eyes me when I bring up nap time. They always try to say we can “skip it just this once”. Only because they don’t have to deal with the whiny, tantrum-throwing monster he becomes when he doesn’t nap. NO THANKS. Naps are still important. Most kids don’t drop their nap until age 3-5! So you could still have a while of naps! I’m sure most places still do “quiet time”.
  • @syssa-o, my nephew will be 4 in March and he still naps every single day. No shame! A lot of kids will still want naps even into kindergarten! I say keep it as long as he'll take it!

My daughter napped until about 4ish and then transitioned into quiet time for 1 hour.  If she fell asleep I woke her up because she couldn’t go to sleep.  My son is just shy of 3 now still naps about 1.5-2.5 hours.  If not - he is an absolute monster.  Nap time is scared - but my brother/sister don’t do nap time with their kids so I always get an eye roll and complaints working around that nap time.

I can’t tell you how many times my daughter fell asleep on the way home from school which we had to pick up my son from the sitter last year after full day K.
  • I was overly excited about my getting my hair done as I developed the stomach flu overnight, which is just my luck!  So fun times and can’t keep a sip of anything down.  Plus still taking care of the kids and all that jazz.  Not the day I had in mind.
  • can ya'll help me out? Where is the facebook group / what is the name of it? I know we did a post on it but I can't seem to find it!
