@dreamscapes_ Sorry that you have to be here. Did you get your CD3 testing done? If not, I’m sure the RE will run them. Also on the infertility group theres a great Discussion it’s called LOW AMH LEVEL you should pop over there to take a look.
@dreamscapes_ Welcome and I'm sorry your find yourself here. Like @ndz2018 said, you should check out the Low AMH thread on the infertility board for some helpful stories. I would argue that with low egg reserve you are still a candidate for IUI or IVF. My AMH level is .22 and my RE did not hesitate to give it a try (full disclosure - it didn't work but I was still a candidate). There are lots of options but the first step is to meet with the RE. The question of 'things to ask' does come up a lot but I found when I met with our doctor that I didn't do much of the talking. If you have had the initial blood work done (AMH/ FSH) and your SO has been tested as well than you have a starting point. Ask the RE their thoughts on how IF treatment can help you and what their plan for you will be. What options will you have?
It's a good idea to ask about communication. Who is your contact person? How often will you see/ speak with the doctor directly?
We are here for you if you have questions.

So AF showed up today. I made an appointment with the RE office for Monday for some blood work and ultrasound to start the IVF process. I read through the paperwork they gave me about IVF and nearly had a nervous breakdown. I’ve been crying for the past half hour. I still can’t believe we’re at this point. DH told me to take a mental health day so I called out sick from work and am thinking of taking advantage of the BOGO coupon that Cold Stone just emailed me.

@shortstack930 *hugs* I am so sorry. I'm sure it is tough to be at that point. I say go for the BOGO ice cream! Their birthday cake ice cream is on point. It's good you were able to take a mental health day.
@shortstack930 *hugs* I'm so sorry you're hurting right now. Definitely take time for your mental health. Ice cream sounds like a pretty good idea too. We're all here for you, whatever you need.
The bump is being weird right now, so I can't easily scroll back through this thread, but thank you to those who advised me to keep my monitoring on cd 11 for this second IUI cycle. I had my baseline today, and monitoring will be cd 11 (next Saturday). Quick question though: My AFC with my first cycle was 11 (6 follies on one side, 5 on the other), and this time it was 21 (10 on one side, 11 on the other). That seems like a huge jump to me. Has anyone else experienced that much change from one month to the next?
@shortstack930 Hugs. Deep breaths. It sucks to be at the point of IVF- it sucks a lot. Like, so much. It effing sucks. But you are here and you can do it. It is the best chance you will have at a baby and you CAN do it. We are all here for you.
@dreamscapes_ Just wanted to chime in and say sorry you find yourself here. The first few weeks of learning about the dx were some of the worst for me with all the wondering what it meant and what we were going to do, so I'm wishing some good comforting things, peace, and patience for you.
@shortstack930 More hugs. I'm sorry this day has arrived for you where you're reading IVF paperwork. It sucks and it's unfair. Really unfair. But also - this day has arrived for you!! You've worked so hard to get here and gone through so much, and now IVF will increase your chances. You're going to rock this. I'm glad you took a mental health day today and I hope you get some ice cream. (@SkilledSailor Birthday cake flavor is my favorite!)
@ndz2018 I have not. My next period should start around the 10th, so not too long after the first appointment. Hopefully they can go ahead and run that then. I'll definitely check out that post, thank you.
@laurad75 That's good to know, thank you! I have had the initial blood work done (everything was in normal range except for AMH), but my DH hasn't had any testing done. We initially had my testing done because I was being evaluated for PCOS, not for this, as we hadn't even started trying yet when the testing happened. Thank you!
@dpjennifer Thank you! We'll see what happens and go from there.
@shortstack930 I'm so sorry for your news I agree with @SkilledSailor, go for the ice cream. Sometimes that's what you need.
@darkstar42 I haven't got a clue if that's a good jump or not, but that's amazing!
@madspunk Thank you. It's definitely not a fun conversation to have.
@SkilledSailor@darkstar42@kiwi2628@madspunk@dreamscapes_ Thank you all so much. DH just got home with ice cream and we’re going to watch a movie and try not to think about IVF. Tomorrow I’ll put on my big girl panties and sign all the papers.

Good news! I still am not a huge responder, but I have more than 4 this time! R has an 11, 12, 15, 16 and 2 smaller ones. L has three 14's, and 2 small ones, so we have 7! Still not the 15-20 my doctor thought I would have before we started, but hopefully they are good quality. I will be stimming for 2 more days and go back in on Monday. Ladies that have done/are doing IVF—what did you decide to do with your frozen embryos in the event that you both die before they’re all used? DH and I are filling out the paperwork and I said we should just have them destroyed and he said we should donate them for research purposes. He said that someone else may have donated their embryos and that could’ve made it possible for us to use this technology today but I just get this weird feeling about it like I’m consenting for my future children to be experimented on or something. Anyway, we have to decide by Monday so just wondering what others have done.

@shortstack930 In the event that something happen to H or I ill be putting in my will that my mother will be responsible for them and do as she sees fit. In the event we don’t pay for storage i think it said after 2 years or we tell them we will donate them.
@shortstack930 it’s a bit different for us as it’s not legal to freeze blasts here, only fertilized eggs still at the 2pn stage. However we did agree they could be used for research but not beyond blastocyst stage and not transferred to another person. Its also a bit of a non question for us though as I’m such a poor responder.

@shortstack930 ours revert to our RE if we die simultaneously. It's kind of a different situation because our RE is the only one in her practice, so they'd go directly to her, not the practice as a whole, and she'd be the one deciding what to do with them. We'd talked about it with each other and her, and decided that we were okay with that. Obviously if we're both gone we can't really control what she'd actually do with them, so there's a certain level of trust happening there, but that's essentially true of virtually anyone we'd leave them with.
She's had patients donate embryos to her when they were done having children, so we have a frame of reference for what she'd do with them and believe her when she says that they'd be made available for couples seeking donor embryos. We were both more comfortable with giving them a chance than destroying them, and I don't think our parents would have even the slightest idea what to do with them if we left them in their hands, so we didn't want to put that burden on them. Our RE requires patients using any donor elements to undergo psych review and attend therapy prior to approval, and we trust her judgment so this seemed like the best option for us.
It's crazy how many things IF makes you think about that you'd never considered before. These are huge questions we're required to ask ourselves and decide on in a relatively short amount of time and it's tough for one person to decide, let alone for two people to agree on.
@madspunk FF does have some ART options, but just be prepared - When you put, "Transfer," for example, it doesn't register that in a meaningful way for possibility of pregnancy signs or timing etc. It's just a note on your chart that it happened that day. I guess they are working on it...
@shortstack930 I can't remember for sure, but I think we did choose to donate for research like how your H reasoned. It would have been too hard for us to donate and think our children could be out there being raised by a completely different family, (whereas I think it would hypothetically be easier for us to adopt an embryo than donate our own, ironically), but too harsh or something to have them destroyed. Like at least if they went to research, their little lives might mean something or contribute something to future couples, even if they might never be born. :/ it's so personal tho, and there's no right or wrong answer, as long as it's what feels right to you both. ❤
@shortstack930 we decided if we both die we want to donate our embryos to another couple since we would both be dead and we would love to help out other people and since we will be dead, we won't have emotional ties to any kid that might come. If one of us died, or we divorced, we elected to donate to research so we could help couples in the future. We get to do IVF because other people donated, and I like the idea of paying it forward. It puts good juju into the universe (in my hippie-dippy opinion, lol).
@beachbunnyxo123 tonight is night 9 of stims, CD 11. I am a slow responder apparently or (and this is JMO, haven't talked to a doctor about it yet), I over-suppressed from the estrogen priming. I think I over-suppressed because I suppress REAAAAALLY easily as we have seen from other cycles and BC with me. I will probably do 11-12 days of stims, which is still average, but generally a bit long for antagonist protocols which are usually more like 10 days of stims.
kiwi2628 said: If one of us died, or we divorced, we elected to donate to research so we could help couples in the future.
This is one of the things that I think is so interesting about ART and how much catching up the law has to do! In our case, if only one of us dies, the embryos become the "property" of the surviving spouse, and if we cant reach an agreement in the event of a divorce, they go to our RE after a certain amount of time.
The reason I think that it's interesting is that we live in a marital property state, meaning certain things are considered joint property under the law, regardless of what one of us has to say about it, and it's not at all clear yet how that applies to something like frozen embryos. That's obviously really glossing over the details of the situation and law, but the whole time we were filling all of this stuff out, I was wondering just how much of it would actually hold up if it came down to an actual battle. I obviously never intend to find out, but as we all know, a lot of what happens through IF is stuff that none of us ever intended and it's tough not to consider all of the potential hurdles and outcomes.
Thank you all for the responses! I totally agree @zwink1 that you have to consider so many things you never thought of when you start in the road to IVF. I’m definitely not comfortable donating the embryos to another couple for the same reasons as @BusinessWife. I’m leaning toward maybe donating to research. We have to decide what would happen in so many scenarios: if he dies, if I die, if we both die, if we get divorced, if we stop paying the annual freezing fees. I never thought this would be so complicated!
@kiwi2628 I’m sorry you didn’t respond as quickly as you would have liked but I’m glad you’re so close to ER! Hang in there!

Sorry I'm so behind this week. I was out of town for a long weekend with some friends.
@laurad75 That's a really sweet present for your donor! I hope your transfer went well yesterday @dpjennifer Hugs! I'm so sorry that the progesterone biopsy was so painful. I hope that the results will give you answers and not more questions. @darkstar42 I'm so sorry your first IUI didn't work. @shortstack930 So sorry about the BFN. I hope you had lots of ice cream last night. While we're not at IVF yet, DH and I have discussed what we would do if we got to that point. We agreed that we would donate them to science. The idea of donating them to another couple is something that for us sounds wonderful in theory, but when we talked about the reality of it we decided that it wasn't something we were comfortable with. @beachbunnyxo123 Ugh I'm sorry your nurse is being a TW @kiwi2628 That's wonderful news! @BusinessWife So many hugs
@KariAnn323 Welcome back! *Hope you had a nice visit! :)
Talking about all these IVF plans... DH and I briefly discussed this evening, and I mentioned if we were to have three failed transfers, the idea of repeating a retrieval (or two) so we could potentially use his other TESE samples and do pgs, which would be covered by insurance at that point bc of the three hypothetical losses.
Re: IF Testing and Treatment 11/27
@BusinessWife I am crushed for you. We were all hoping it was your cycle. We will be rooting for you this next month. Much love & hugs.
If not, I’m sure the RE will run them. Also on the infertility group theres a great Discussion it’s called LOW AMH LEVEL you should pop over there to take a look.
It's a good idea to ask about communication. Who is your contact person? How often will you see/ speak with the doctor directly?
We are here for you if you have questions.

@darkstar42 I haven't got a clue if that's a good jump or not, but that's amazing!
@madspunk Thank you. It's definitely not a fun conversation to have.

@BusinessWife, I think you meant to tag @shortstack930!!
@kiwi2628 I’m sorry you didn’t respond as quickly as you would have liked but I’m glad you’re so close to ER! Hang in there!

@laurad75 That's a really sweet present for your donor! I hope your transfer went well yesterday
@dpjennifer Hugs!
@beachbunnyxo123 Ugh I'm sorry your nurse is being a TW
@kiwi2628 That's wonderful news!

Here's hoping it doesn't come to that, tho...
