Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread | 11.27

  •  @Chawk17 I've heard to help keep your breast milk from coming in,   if you bind your breasts it will discourage your milk from chiming in,  and if it does it will dry up within 7-10 days . There are also some herbal teas that suppress the hormones that are responsible for creating milk.

  • I had a day recently where I felt no movement at all until I got in bed and then a kick here and there. Then there are days like Tuesday when he moved all day long. Definitely mention it to your doctor but I think you'll be OK.

I had an awful day yesterday because the baby barely moved- he is usually so active and kicks a ton, but occasionally he will just go radio silent for a while. I think it was about 16 hours of no kicking and I was very scared. Didn't call my doctor because I kept reminding myself that sometimes the baby's just sleepy. Finally at 11pm he gave a big kick and rolled over. Talk about relief!! Hopefully this doesn't happen again much or else I'll be at the ER in  panic.
  • Thanks everyone on advice about movement.  It is scary- and weird, and I am a FTM so who knows what I am doing.  UGH. I'm pretty sure you guys are right (fingers crossed) and nothings wrong.

@mamaof5already a co-worker told me when her sister in law had a baby the dr. gave her a shot of something so milk wouldn't come in.  I am going to ask Dr. about that, but if he doesn't know ( or disagrees) then I will just let it dry up naturally.  ( I am just too conservative- I don't feel comfortable with the whole breast feeding part...selfish I know...but...I just don't want to  :)

  • Just a whine...  I have a cold.  I guess this goes in the bitchfest, but I’m just annoyed I can’t take sudafed.
  • @Chawk17 and you don't have to. I applaud you for making a choice you're most comfortable with and moving forward. I made DH and my mom promise to remind me that if breastfeeding is really tough/making me miserable to just let it go and that a happy momma makes for a happy baby.

Well I'm 99% the baby turned at some point in the night because I'm getting internal kicks & jabs more so than external. Plus my belly is more curved out today than usual like his spine is lining it out. He had either a foot or a hand in my ribs and I poked him. He smacked or kicked me and moved. Lol

I am going to ask nurse during blood pressure today...shes gone through inactive phases before...so I haven't worried...but we will see- the pressure feeling  has me off.
I've got that big question followed by how not to have breast milk come in.( what med can they give me at delivery to insure this.) SO it's going to be a long appointment  :)
THey can give your Meds to help milk not come in? Are you not planning to breastfeed? I’m not either for several reasons and didn’t know they could! I thought it was something you had to deal with? Let me know what they say I’ll ask my Dr too!

  • @olitwinturbosnprincess aw, hope you feel better!
  • There is absolutely something they can give you to stop milk from coming in, not sure how prevalent it is now though. I know around here a couple generations ago they have it to all women without even asking because breast feeding was kind of discouraged at that time

  • I don't know about any meds, but I can tell you that cabbage leaves on your chest after baby comes is a miracle worker.
  • @olitwinturbosnprincess I'm sorry you're not feeling well  :( I had a cold before Thanksgiving and it sucked.  Have you asked your doctor if you can take Sudafed? It's on the list of "safe medications" my OB gave me.

What?!? That is crazy! It should be the mothers choice.

  • Ok. So I asked dr. About medicine to not have milk come in and he said it doesn't work. Basically just don't stimulate breast.

The pressure is/ was more than likely uterus...and she's doing fine hb 125.
  • Not sure if this is a symptom or a BF...

Back story (pun not intended): a month ago I strained muscles on my side at the gym that still haven’t completely healed and feel a little bruised. I’m blaming that on the constant expansion of my ribs from this little nugget.

Tonight at dinner, some rice went down the wrong way and I started coughing. Then I felt a series of “pops” in my back. Fast forward to me on the couch with an ice pack on my back. Pretty sure I’m here for the rest of the night.
  • Insomnia is back with a vengeance. 2-5 hours awake in the middle of the night for the past 3 days :/  At 2 hours tonight so far.

I am right there with you. My wake up time is 2am and I 'm awake until between 3:30-4:00 am. My alarm goes off at 5am... did this with both of my other boys as well... oh the joys! ;) Then come 3pm I'm exhausted... Hope you get some sleep!
  • @neener*neener* 2am seems to be about my trouble spot, too.  5 am alarm would kick my butt. I'm already in slug mode with a 6:50 am wake up.

  • +1 for 2:00 am wake up. Our puppies are still kennel training so I can't get out of bed for fear of waking them and being required to take them outside, so I'm just a hostage in my bed in the middle of the night.
  • I woke up super dizzy this morning.  I am not sure if it's inner ear issues bc of this cold--or a vertigo type thing?  I am seeing our school nurse in a  little (she's a saint)--then maybe putting in a call to my dr office :/
  • @magnolia305 or maybe some dehydration? I'm finding that harder this week. Hope all is ok!
  • I had the worst leg cramp of my life this morning. It started off mild, but then it got progressively worse as I tried to get rid of it. And just when I thought it was gone, I'd change positions and it would come again. I have no clue why as I've been relatively cramp-free and my water and calcium intake hasn't changed.
  • @atalante That could be a possibility, too.  I have been struggling with the water intake this week, as well.  Thanks for the suggestion--I am going to fill up my water cup now!

I find I drink enough/plenty of water when I fill up a big bottle, preferably a 32oz. That way I know how many times I’ve finished it and it’s much easier to keep track of. Finishing 3 of them seems to work well for me but I’m so thirsty lately that’s my minimum!
  • Anyone have a suggestion for how to comfortably elevate your feet to deal with swelling while still sleeping on your side? I feel like my pillow fort is going to require an engineer at some point...
  • So whatever I did to my back is 5000x worse. I woke up after 2 hrs of sleep last night to go to the bathroom and I couldn’t move. The pain is excruciating. Doesn’t seem to be affecting the nugget, though.  On our way to the OB triage at the hospital now. This trimester is going to be a blast! :(
  • Oh no @babybro218!!!  I hope they can do something for your back.
  • @babybro218 rest! I hope they figure it out but if it’s the same thing I have then you need to be off your feet for a couple days. And a pregnancy belt works miracles

Thanks @chucksmom15 and @SunflowerMama428. They said it’s a muscle spasm and gave me a prescription for flexeril, a safe muscle relaxer that i’ll prob only take at night to help me sleep and not wake up in pain like last night and this morning. I already took off work on Monday for an appt with MFM, so I’m hoping my back will feel better by Tues and things can return to their normal chaotic state.

i’m So glad the belt is helping you, @SunflowerMama428!
  • I feel like I went from feeling great to awful in less than 2 days. Back pain kicked in, sleep is getting super restless. What the hell? I caved and bought a pregnancy pillow after talking about how stupid/gimmicky I thought they were. We’ll see how I sleep tonight and if I’ll be eating my words!
  • I googled symptoms  and now think i have spd (https://www.coreconcepts.com.sg/article/what-is-symphysis-pubis-dysfunction-spd/) where the cartilage in the pelvis bone loosens up to early or to much.  It hurts to climb stairs,  hurts to walk after sitting for long times,  and last night the pain was so bad i went to bed at 6pm with an ice pack on my crotch for hours and it felt some what better this morning.  Im hoping in wrong and Dr. Google  is making me a hypochondriac and it was just a one off thing,  but i have a hunch its not going to get better,  probably worse until the baby comes.

  • @mamaof5already yikes, can you go to a walk in clinic and see if they have same diagnosis?
  • @mamaof5already
I have spd (with all 3 pregnancies). The chiropractor helps tremendously. It gets worse towards the end unfortunately. Hope you find some relief! It helps me to take a warm bath or use an ice pack. Also keeping a pillow between my knees when sleeping relieves some discomfort.

We don't have those where i live.  I asked the Dr.  About walking up the stairs at my appointment, but with the med student being confused he never got around to answering.  I took it REALLY easy yesterday and it wasn't did bad lat night.  I am going to restrict my climbing and carrying and try to sit with my legs closed and see if that helps enough.

I am up most mornings between 2-3 am.. wide awake. I come downstairs, eat a bowl of plain chex or a banana and watch a few shows... story of my life these days :expressionless:

Last night I actually slept fairly decent, besides the usual getting up to pee and frequent position changes. I’ll take it! Though it was kind of nice coming down to an empty dishwasher the other morning...
