Re: Weekly Appointments (11/27)

  • I have a nurse appointment today!! I won’t get an US or anything but it’s still the first step so I’m excited!

  • Friday! No u/s but I'm HOPING she'll at least try the Doppler!
  • @gspmom21 thanks for starting this thread this week! I have an appointment Thursday but most likely no u/s. They aren't routine here until 20 weeks.

  • I had an appointment for an Ultrasound this morning. I'm supposed to be 7 w 4 d, but only measured 6 w 1 d. I have a uterus that is tilted forward and so she couldn't get great pictures. She said it was too difficult with how my uterus is tilted to tell if there was a heartbeat or not. Since we couldn't for sure see the heartbeat my doctor had me get another HCG blood test done while I was there. Fingers crossed this baby is just being difficult like their siblings and all is good. I'm a little nervous but my mom intiution isn't saying to be worried.

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.

  • @bdesterhouse oh man, sorry your uterus is being uncooperative. Trust your gut!
  • @bdesterhouse ugh sorry! Hopefully your numbers look fabulous! I agree to trust your gut!
  • My first U/S is Wednesday and I have to get my third hcg blood test the same day... because of all the spotting I was having they are doing an early U/S... i will be barely 6 weeks on Wednesday. I don’t even know what to expect to see... just praying for good news. Good luck to all others with tests and appointments this week!
  • I have US Friday.  I will be 6 wks the day of appt.  I’m very nervous. I learned about both ****TW***** of my losses at first US

    Trust that Mom intuition girl!!

I have an appointment scheduled this afternoon.  U/S and then dr appt immediately following.  A little nervous, as I had some bleeding Friday night that brought me into the ER.  Had an U/S done and saw heartbeat and healthy baby, but he/she was measuring 6 weeks 6 days when I thought I should be 8 weeks 2 days.  I also have a tilted/weird uterus (which the OB res thinks caused the bleeding) so pics may have been a little difficult.  Still a little nervous, but they did blood work that looked great so I am trying to focus on the positive.  Also, similar to you @bdesterhouse, I don't feel a ton of anxiety.  I was super sick this morning so I think that helped a little bit.  Hopefully my u/s this afternoon puts me at ease, and you get some good news regarding your blood work.

  • @Mack2342 I’m worried about the same. Good luck. I’m trying to think really positive but that half makes me feel like I’m setting myself up for heartbreak..
  • @pregnant_and_paleo I totally understand.  I’m trying to be positive but can’t help the negative thoughts creeping up.  Good luck to you as well.
  • @pregnant_and_paleo and @Mack2342, I hope this week goes by fast and you both get great news at your first ultrasounds!

  • Sorry to hear about the stressful u/s @bdesterhouse and @stlmegs, I definitely agree with trusting your mommy gut though. Fingers crossed! AFM, I have my first appointment tomorrow. I switched practices from an all OB practice last pregnancy to an all midwives/birth center practice this time, so not quite sure what to expect. They did say I could have an ultrasound if I want, so I will get one to confirm dates and make sure there's a heartbeat. I should be 7+4 tomorrow. I'm a little nervous to make sure everything is good, and also a little bummed my husband might have to stay home with our sick toddler and miss the first ultrasound. Not a huge deal though. Also nervous to be weighed, as silly as that sounds lol.
  • First appointment on Wednesday. They said they may do an U/S so we'll see :)
  • Just got back from my first doc appt! Due date was going to be the 23rd but I told her my cycle info and ovulation info so she made it the 28th - my husbands birthday!! Will adjust as needed after first ultrasound - talked about plans for VBAC and scheduled my first ultrasound and appointment to get the MaterniT21 Test done! So excited! It feels so real now. However, this appt was much harder than any of my last because my darling toddler (18 m) decided it was his day to throw a HUGE fit ... I held him while I got a Pap smear done and he kicked the doc. Y’all, I was so embarrassed!!!!
  • @zande2016 not silly! I am annoyed that when I found out I was preggo I was one weight, and now I am 4lbs heavier, the same weight as my last pregnancy! I was hoping to start lower, darnit. It's all water weight and bloat but still. Annoying.

I hope everyone waiting for stressful bloodwork/having an ultrasound today gets good news. FX for y'all.

I have no appointments just lurkin'.
  • I have repeat bloodwork on Wednesday to make sure my levels are rising.

I'm waiting on a call back about scheduling an U/S. So, hopefully I'll get one this week or next.
  •  I have an appointment tomorrow it’s my first I’m excited and nervous. I’m anxious to find out just how far along I am I haven’t had a regular cycle since coming off birth control. Do you generally get an ultrasound at your first prenatal appointment I’m gonna be pretty disappointed if I don’t. Mainly because again I don’t really know how far along I am I’m thinking about two months. I’m a first-time mother so any advice is greatly appreciated I’m excited to be a part of this community.
  • @Katek819 every practice is different about when they do ultrasounds, but I'm guessing if you tell them you don't know when you conceived, they will want to do a dating ultrasound. If not offered,
i would ask and explain you're not sure on dates and want to get an acurate due date.
  • Good luck to everyone with their u/s tomorrow & later this week! I have my 7w6d appt tomorrow am, and am extremely absurdly nervous. Saw the fetal pole measuring right on at 6w2D, but no heartbeat as doctor wouldn’t even try.. he said it was too early and I’ve been freaking out since.

@bdesterhouse so happy your HCG was so good!
  • I’m not sure where to ask this... and I tried searching and couldn’t find anyone asking it already... so here goes- any of you mamas-to-be get a flu shot since learning you were pregnant? I have never gotten one before, but I’m wondering if maybe I should now that I’m growing a sweet pea...
  • @pregnantandpaleo ask your dr about it I had already had mine before I found out but they asked me in my first if I had one yet.

  • @pregnant_and_paleo my RE told me to get one. I would just check with your OB
  • @pregnantandpaleo both OBs I saw plus my MIL who is an OB said to get the flu shot (I’ve never done it either) and that it’s completely safe and highly recommended to get asap in your pregnancy. Went to CVS the following day and had it done in 15 mins.
  • First u/s tomorrow at 8+6, excited to see baby and hear a heartbeat!

  • Thanks for your advice ladies! I don’t get to see my OB for a couple of weeks and it’s on my list of questions to ask then, but I keep reading about everyone getting sick and it’s making me anxious!! I’ll have to call them and ask, thanks again!

@pregnant_and_paleo I got mine after finding out I was pregnant. My Sister (who is a Doctor) assured me that it is safe. Doctors generally recommend pregnant women get it but I would talk to your doctor about it. Should you decide to get it be sure to tell them you are pregnant. I think the big difference is that they give you a flu shot that is preservative free.
  • @pregnant_and_paleo this was also on my questions list and my OB encouraged me to get it, which reminds me I need to do that this week!
  • @pregnant_and_paleo I've gotten a flu shot with each of my pregnancies, plus whenever I need an updated whooping cough vaccine I'll get that too.

  • After today I have 2 more work days to get through, then it's first appointment time! I took the entire day off so afterwards I'm dropping DH off so he can go to work then going to treat myself to a nice lunch and get my nails done. Unless it's BAD news, then I'm getting a bottle of good red and drinking it all.

  • Had my first appointment today. It was my first time at a new practice, and it's a midwifery practice, which is so different from the OB practice I used last time. I have a good feeling about this, I felt like my last practice was such a pregnancy factory. The doctors would get exasperated if you asked a question and they literally only allotted 5 minutes to see you. The midwives spent about 30 mins with me. There was a student midwife doing my dating ultrasound though, and she couldn't find my uterus at first. I panicked for a second thinking i had an empty uterus, but she was just totally missing it. The experienced midwife took over and quickly found baby with a strong heartbeat, measuring 2 days behind. What a relief.
  • I am going for repeat bloodwork tomorrow am to make sure my levels are ok. Once we find out, they will schedule my ultrasound, which I am hoping will be next week!
