This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (If you've been):
Cycle/CD:
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
How are things going?
Any questions?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list?
Re: IF Testing and Treatment 11/27
Hope it's okay I started this today.
Diagnosis (If you've been): All of it. PCOM, Fragile X carrier, High AMH, High Prolactin
Cycle/CD: 24 months/ CD 11
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Cabergoline and Femara
How are things going? Meh. This is the second cycle of femara. I surprisingly don't have many side effects, which is nice. I had to take a mental break for a bit though, so I have been MIA.
Any questions?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? A Roomba.
Diagnosis (If you've been): Unexplained IF
Cycle/CD:
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF!
How are things going? This morning I had my first monitoring appt. Last night was night 3 of stims and this AM at my appt was 36 hours off estrogen priming. I had 9 very small follicles (unmeasurable). I am a bit disappointed as I was hoping for tons...that number can increase, right? Especially since I was just on estrogen? Maybe? But so far I have had basically no side effects from the follistim/menopur, so thats good.
Any questions?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? A good cast iron skillet, 23 and me and the obvious.
@kiwi2628 I definitely think that number can increase. Good to hear you're not having any side effects!
Diagnosis (If you've been): secondary IF due to endometriosis
Cycle/CD: 23/24
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW 11dpIUI
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole + IUI
How are things going? Trying not to succumb to the TWW anxiety. After 23 months I still find myself slightly hopeful and I know I shouldn't because I'm just going to be super bummed when AF arrives this weekend. At least we've got the plan in place to move on to IVF.
Any questions? Nope.
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? I'm a nerd so the newest Professor Layton game for 3DS. Also, DH and I are hoping to get enough gift cards to maybe get a Nintendo Switch.

Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR primarily
Cycle/CD: 31 / 27
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Enforced benching as got no embie in the IVF cycle
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Waiting. Waiting. And more waiting.
How are things going? The past 1.5 weeks have been pretty rough. I think partly because I wasn’t expecting to feel like that. All the 30 cycles before, there was always some small glimmer of hope of success until AF came in full. In September when we only got one embie from the IVF cycle we knew chances were low, but I loved the idea of knowing that I was carrying a fertlized embryo. And every other month there’s always the chance a sperm works his charms on the egg. But having your eggs taken out and nothing to put back in really hit me. Last week I had an important business trip which kept me physically busy with no time to think about things. But any mention of anyone’s families literally had me either almost in tears or feeling so angry. Luckily working with all guys has its benefits as they don’t mention their families all day long. Else I might have broken down at some point. I still might.
So yeah. Sorry to have been MIA too and not being the chirpiest around. I have been love titting occasionally. WTF appointment is still 1.5 weeks away as we couldn’t cycle again in December due to clinic holiday closure.
Any questions?
Does anyone have an US machine at home? (I found ones the same my OB has for under 1000$) Or tried home inseminations?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? Definitely the obvious. Also a change in the law on freezing embryos in Germany. Health, wealth and happiness for family and friends.
@redpuma119 I have a roomba. Actually I got him just before I met DH and he was like my little pet! I used to go hunting for him every evening when I got home as the apartment I had had lots of circuitous parts of the layout and it messed with the signals to the base. He was great at remembering to do under the sofa and bed ;-)
@kiwi2628 I have everything crossed for you for this cycle. Keep in mind quality over quantity. If you get 9 great eggs it’s no different to 18 but half aren’t mature. Yes, I believe with the Estrogen priming it is still quite possible to see more follies appear in the next 3-5 days and still be close enough to be ready for ER at the same time. And you’re really early off it. Some people don’t start stimming until later than that. If your AFC is usually normal, don’t panic. Your RE will learn a lot you from how you respond - much more than a dozen blood tests before. Also I didn’t have any side effects from stims the first time, but second time they hit me like a truck. But if you have none then just enjoy it!

@laurad75 fx for you and your donor today!
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI
Cycle/CD: idk, but going on a full year of Bumping once we found out our diagnosis
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for FET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Continuing with Lupron, Estrace, acupuncture, and supplements. Bloodwork on Friday to check everything out.
How are things going? We're on track with everything for the FET. My initial bloodwork and ultrasound last Wednesday went well. My belly is bruised like a mofo from all the Lupron shots, but otherwise all is well.
Any questions?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? Anything for cooking/baking!
Welcome back, @Redpuma119. I've had a couple generations of the Roomba, and they are great, especially for pets.
@kiwi2628 Day 3 of stims is still really early. I wasn't getting accurate numbers/measurable follies until way later in the process.
@shortstack930 I'm hoping you don't have to move onto IVF either, but I'll be looking for your TWW update.
@businesswife Also thinking of you today! (and possibly freakingoutalittlebit to hear your results!)
@adirat I didn't want to bump the other thread, but I am thinking of you. I'm so, so sorry that you have to deal with a dickbutt of a coworker who doesn't seem to have an ounce of empathy in her. My heart has been thinking of you so often. I certainly understand that you need breaks/lurking time right now, but know that you are not forgotten.
@laurad75 Gahhhh! I'm so excited to hear about the ER!

@kiwi2628 Fingers crossed for you that your number goes up! And awesome to hear that you're not having bad side effects!
@shortstack930 I too still get so hopeful. I hope you're the SS though!
@laurad75 I added the date! Let us know how the retrieval goes! This is so exciting!
@emmasemm Sorry you're having such a rough go right now. This whole journey can be so daunting. It sucks to be benched, but do something nice for yourself!!
@businesswife Hey guurrl
@emmasemm so many hugs for you. I am so sorry about everything you are going through
Thanks guys for making me feel better. I am such a control freak and its making this process hard to say the least. Love you all!
@BusinessWife, wishing you all the good luck today!!!!!!!!
@laurad75, so excited for you, FX for a great retrieval today!
@emmasemm, I'm so sorry for everything you're going through. Sending you all of the good vibes.
Diagnosis (If you've been): OAT & misc minor FFI
Cycle/CD: Idk.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFFET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Waiting for CD1 to start timing out FET.
How are things going? Good! We were worried yesterday when we got the 5 day report and were told that only 2 made it to freeze. I immediately started Dr. Googling to try to figure out what our odds were that others would catch up, was this an egg thing, a sperm thing, etc. My RE called this morning to say that 4 more caught up and will be frozen today. I could not be more relieved.
Any questions? Nope.
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? Almost all kitchen stuff. A serving platter, gravy boat, new pots/pans, and a kitchenaid.... you know, just a few things.
@Redpuma119 so glad to see you back here girl! You have been missed!
@shortstack930 fx that this IUI works but glad you have a backup plan in place just in case to keep things moving forward!
@laurad75 ahhh GL today!!! So many follies that’s amazing! Keep us posted!
@BusinessWife thinking of you today!!!!!
@emmasemm hugs
@AlohaKumu FET is so close!! Glad everything is looking good!!
@zwink1 yay so glad that more caught up to freeze!!!
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained
Cycle/CD: ugh 28 I don’t know/ cd 3
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
Got AF on Saturday which sucks but it looks like my 6 weeks of acupuncture has been helping. I usually have a super light scanty period and this time I actually had bleeding which I know is weird to be happy about. Waiting for my nurse to call me back supposed to have saline sono #2 on Friday or Monday and he wants me to take a suppository dilator which I’m nervous about
How are things going?
Okay, praying they get the catheter in this will be the third attempt for my doc to check in my uterus. Then timing out IVF to start stimming late next month.
Any questions?
Anyone ever have to take a dilator before? He said cramping I’m not sure what to expect and I really don’t want to do it but I guess I don’t have a choice
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list?
Treated myself to all natural organic makeup; that was the only thing I had left to do make the transition with all other food and products. Other than that just asked for an instant pot
@beachbunnyxo123 Next appt is Wednesday. I am glad you have a heavier flow (the things we get happy about now....lol). I hope the dilator goes easy for you.
@kiwi2628 Glad you're not having any side effects!! FX it stays that way!
@shortstack930 Ah hope can crush you, but it definitely helps keep you going. I've got my fingers crossed so hard for you!
@laurad75 that's tons of follies!! Keep us updated!
@emmasemm I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I've got nothing but hugs for you, definitely do something nice for yourself! You deserve it!
@AlohaKumu ah you're getting so close!!!
@zwink1 yaayyy! I'm glad the others caught up!! Yay for more to freeze!
@beachbunnyxo123 I hope things go a bit smoother for you this time around! Glad the acupuncture seems to be helping though!
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI - Low Count
Cycle/CD: I think cycle 18
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Well I had an IVF consult today that turned into my RE wanting to do another IUI. This would be IUI number 5, but only my 3rd medicated one. He would bump up my clomid to 100mg from 50. I'm too far into this cycle to start, but he'd want me to call on CD1 and get the ball rolling to do IUI. I'm confused as to what to do. Would you ladies do it? My IUI including clomid is about 2500 (including trigger shot and all) OOP. But with that being said, if nothing happens prior to Jan, we're moving onto IVF.
Like - do we do a FIFTH one if 4 haven't worked already? Or do we do it since it'll be my 3rd medicated one? Or do we skip it and hope for a SS? Or just skip it and plan on IVF? My insurance (which will start in Jan) will cover IVF but hi...that's a bit more invasive than IUI. Do I do the IUI so I'm never wondering what if? I just don't know...
How are things going? See above and basically tell me what you'd do. I'm just torn and confused. I want to do it, but is it a waste of money? I guess not if it gives us a chance. I'm just, ugh. I guess I wasn't expecting to have this option. I was expecting to go and talk about our game plan in Jan but here we are.
Any questions?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? Just checked my Amazon list - Perfume, lots of natural shampoo/conditioner/body wash, oil and a diffuser, slippers, a dutch oven, wine glasses, makeup, knives, a 2018 planner, cookbooks, a new camera lens, french press (my birthday is the 22nd so I need a bit of a larger list!)
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI (poor morph) + Unilateral Blocked Tube
Cycle/CD: 7/23
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW/WFAF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Follow up consult with the RE tomorrow. I'm getting anxious about it. Luckily I'm busy today so I don't have a whole lot of time to work myself up.
How are things going? They're ok. I think I'll feel better once I know our game plan.
Any questions? Not right now.
GTKY: A new tile cutter, H already got me Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets, a composter, and new jeans.
@redpuma119 We have a Roomba knockoff that I love. I'm sure the Roomba is better but any little machine that vacuums for me is a winner in my book. Hope you get one!
@kiwi2628 Yay! So excited to for you!
@shortstack930 When would you be moving forward with IVF?
@laurad Wow that's a lot of follicles! Can't wait to hear the update! Does that mean you're transfer would be Friday or Saturday?
@emmasemm *hugs* Sorry you're having a rough time. It's completely understandable. Does Germany not freeze embryos?
@alohakumu What's your favorite thing to bake? When is your FET scheduled?
@zwink1 Yay! So glad 4 more caught up. Six is a good number.
@beachbunnyxo123 I hope this attempt is successful for you and your doctor! They're trying something a bit different this time, right?
I put up one of my husband holding the syringe and looking gleeful with the caption 'when your husband is about to poke you with needles....'
And last night I did an instagram story showing how I mix the meds, get the spot ready and then filmed my H actually giving me the injection
Both have gotten so much love and support. Its really been amazing and I am so glad I put it out there.
@SkilledSailor yes he wants to try a dilator and has a plan for the FET I’m gonna talk to him more about it when I see him for the saline but still nervous of course! Good luck tomorrow! Any questions you were planning on asking
specifically?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) starting clomid this cycle
How are things going? there going. I'm worried about the side effects of the clomid, but we have a plan, so that's good
Any questions? so I think I remember reading that the clomid can impact temps, what about opks? should I use them this cycle?
GTKY: What's on your Christmas list? such random things a foam roller, a new gym bag, and herb stripper because who doesn't need another kitchen gadget to make your life easier.
@adirat thinking of you. and sending you support in this difficult time.
@Redpuma119 welcome back I hope the break helped.
@kiwi2628 so glad you're not having many side effects. seems like slow and steady growth is ideal. FX for you. Thanks for updating us on your social media posts. I'm so happy to hear you're getting positive feedback and support. Sounds like you're keeping your sense of humor in the face of this challenge.
@laurad75 today!!! OMG that is so exciting!!
@emmasemm I'm so sorry things are not going well. hugs
@shortstack930 hope is a funny thing, it can be crushing and it can keep you going. i'm one that believes in holding on to a little bit of hope even if we think we shouldn't. here's hoping you don't need to move to IVF.
@AlohaKumu moving right along! when is the FET?
@zwink1 wow, 4 more! what great news!
@beachbunnyxo123 sending all the good vibes for a better experience. Glad the acupuncture worked!
@50wife will insurance cover the IUI in January? can you try on your own, like you were planning to, then do the IUI in Jan and then move to IVF? Those "what if" thoughts can be difficult.
@skilledsailor I hope the appointment goes well tomorrow. Glad you have some distraction today
@businesswife I'll be looking for your update. thinking of you and keeping everything crossed.

@laurad75 can't wait for your fert report! So exciting!
@zwink1 Six is amazing! Congrats!
@50Wife I think I would do another iui if the doc recommends it. If your meds are uncovered try goodrx for coupons. I paid a lot less for my ovidrel and letrozole using it. You can also try and get an ovidrel sample from your doctor, mine always had a good stockpile. No matter what you decide, it will be right. Treatment decisions are so deeply personal so don't beat yourself up trying to decide.

I hope it's okay that I continue to hangout over here. I don't want my presence to insinuate that anyone going through fertility treatment should "just adopt." All of our paths are so unique but I know that I no longer fit into "trying to get pregnant" necessarily.

@tamalahoops I’m excited to hear about your decision!!! Don’t leave, you’ve been so supportive and I would like for us to continue to support you throughout your journey.
@Avrilmai the meds will definitely make temping wonky so I personally wouldn’t. Are you doing an IUI or just TI (sorry I forget!) they should be monitoring you so they’ll let you know when the follie is good to go
AFM just got a callback from my nurse and I’m a little irritated. Supposed to have be Saline sono between days 6-10. Well my doc is gonna be in another office 2 hours away from me so I can either go there (too late notice to cancel my patient appointments to take off work) or I can go on BCPs and wait for him to get back to the office by me (was going to step out as it’s down the street from where I work). I just got off BCPs last time we did this I don’t want to keep going on and off of them. I tried to get the scheduler to get me an appt with another doctor at the office by me. Then I got a callback from my nurse saying my RE said he has to do it since the catheter wouldn’t go in. The RE they were going to schedule me with did my IUI and actually got the catheter in before unlike him. I’m annoyed and frustrated and I feel like it’s more personal then professional about him wanting to do all of my procedures since he hasn’t been able to get the cath in. I just spent $3k on a hysteroscopy that never even happened. Now my nurse is like “well those are your two options BCPs or go to the other office”. Like why? This is a practice of many many doctors and they all do tests and procedures for one another. I don’t get it. My husband agrees that it’s weird. And I was actually wanting the other doctor to do it since I know she can. Now I have to take cytotec to dilate and I really don’t want to because that’s gonna do nothing to help my FET. Sorry to be complaining I just don’t know what to do. Does this sound weird to anyone else? On one hand I think it’s nice he’s following my case through but he is the only doc I’ve seen that’s never gotten my catheter in even under anesthesia. I feel like it’s more about proving it to himself or his own training/experience then it is about me and I don’t want to be the curved cervix test dummy. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money on this and I’m annoyed now.
AFM: my amazing donor got 35 eggs! Crazy crazy!! We will get the fertilization report tomorrow and schedule my transfer. Wheeeeee!
2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos
moved to donor egg in summer 2017; 35 eggs retrieved; 19 fertilized; 9 total embryos
Fresh transfer Dec 2017= BFP! baby boy born 8/22/18
May 2019 - surprise natural pregnancy ended in MC
Nov 2019 FET; MC at 9 weeks
May 2020 FET; BFN
July 2020 FET; CP treated with methotrexate
Oct 2020 BFP!
Take a look at my blog
@zwink1 OMG! The exact same thing happened to us between days 5/6. When we only had 2 embies on day 5, I was devastated, but then 4 perked up the next day. I can imagine the relief for you, but yeesh is that waiting period awful.
@beachbunnyxo123 Glad to hear the acupuncture is helping for you. I love my acupuncturist and if nothing else, she helps keep me calm at least once a week. I hope you continue to see great results. But boo to your doctor! I can't believe that they are being so inflexible with you, especially after all the issues they had in the past. Is there a way you could speak to the doctor directly? I'm not sure it would make a difference in this case. It might be as you suspect--he's trying to show off his plumage and feel better about himself. What a mess.
@50Wife Obviously it's a super-personal decision to make the jump from IUIs to IVF. We decided to go straight to IVF with our donor, since we knew the outcome is much more favorable. I just felt so ready, you know? Plus, $2500 isn't just peanuts. But it's so up to you and your doctors and we will support you, no matter what!
@SkilledSailor I hope all goes well with your RE tomorrow! Oh man, I love baking everything. Last night I made some homemade whole wheat English muffins. I whipped together cornbread, pumpkin bread, and vegetarian stuffing. If I had to switch jobs, I would totally want to do something in the culinary world. Our FET is scheduled for December 15, so I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle.
@kiwi2628 Awesome ideas for posts and I'm so happy that you are getting positive support while spreading awareness of our IF community!
@Avrilmai I don't have any advice about the Clomid, but I hope everything goes smoothly for you! Our FET is Dec 15 and I'm hoping Santa brings me a BFP. lol
@tamalahoops Yes, please hang out with us! We are probably going to pursue adoption in the future, too, so I'd love to learn more about how it goes for you. You have always been so wonderful and supportive!

@50wife I guess I will be contrary and say that I would go to IVF. MFI isn't something that's going to be solved by Clomid. There's no wrong answer here -- whatever you feel is best.
@tamalahoops You are ALWAYS welcome here.
@laurad75 Dang!!!! Those are some ovaries on that woman! Woohoo!
@emmasemm So frustrating I wish I could speed up the time for you.
@businesswife Sigh. Hugs friend.
