  • Loading the player...
  • I’ve thrown up like four times today, and had diarrhea off and on since late last night. I’m currently laying on the couch watching J unfold all the laundry I folded yesterday. I don’t even care.
  • @ivyvines6 nooooo. I hope you feel better.
  • I was lent an angel care baby monitor for DS from my stepsister. The kind with the sensor pad that goes under the crib mattress and sets off an alarm if it doesn't sense regular movement that it attributes to breathing.

Her sister sadly lost a child to SIDS a few years ago so that side of my extended family is very sensitive to the subject. Rightfully so.
    End TW

I however, chose not to use it and just stuck with my regular monitor but I lied about that constantly to that side of the family when they asked how I was liking the monitor. Tbh it stressed me out way more to have it turned on. I did try it for a few nights and I seriously did not sleep. I gave it back this summer when my stepsister had another child and if somehow another one of those monitors makes its way to me I won't be using it.
  • @cups4 OMG those are adorable!

  • @Ceridwen77 I heard that too which just added to the stress of using it. I'm sure it's very helpful and reassuring for some people but for me it was just a source of anxiety.
  • @mileswithmyles I sort of do that too.  I usually leave my favorite for last, or the thing that's the sweetest so that it's sort of like dessert.  My husband is the opposite, he has equal portions of every food on his plate at all times.
  • I also bought Frownies today because I’m tired of looking old and haggard AF. Let’s hope they work.
  • My Halloween decorations are still up. I have no intention of taking them down until next weekend when I need to get my Christmas stuff out of the garage.

I could google but what are frownies?!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • They are patches you wear at night to reduce the facial movements that cause wrinkles.
  • Ugh I need some. I made the mistake I forgot looking in the mirror before school pictures this morning. Bad idea. I look exhausted. Pregnancy glow is a trick for fools
  • @mileswithmyles I use frownies!!! I have a worry line in the middle of my forehead. I think it helps. I’ve been using them for a of couple years.

  • I'm pretty sure pregnancy glow is just legit sweat from puking, extra hormones and the extra weight at the end. It's just crap people point out but try and sound nice about it.
Also I don't care much about wrinkles except this one that I get between my eyebrows and it makes me look angry for some reason. The rest of the wrinkles I say bring 'em on!! I laugh and smile a lot so I'm doomed!!
  • Also I’m curious about the how sleep training is judged by all. I found the comparison in this article between choosing breast vs formula to choosing early sleep training vs a more attachment strategy. Valid or not?

  • Oh I know 12 by 12 is BS unless you just happen to get lucky. This is my third baby and I am still restling with how much is born and how much what I do can impact their sleep.
  • Sleeping 10 hours by 1 would be a miracle around here, my 2yo is still up every night....
  • My SIL sleep trained her first with the help of a group called Moms on Call. I think they are nurses or doctors? Anyway, her kid was on an amazing schedule and she was and is the happiest baby. Also, my SIL didn’t have any anxiety around the training because it’s flexible and there are real people you can call to consult with. For anyone who wants to sleep train, check it out!

I am pro sleep training but as a FTM I plan to breast feed and to have baby in my room in the beginning to make that easier so I don't know if sleep training would make sense then. I guess this woman got up and walked to the nursery to nurse every time which sounds unpleasant.
  • We sleep trained at 7 months and never looked back. We did a modified where we'd go in after 5, 10, 15 minutes. They started to sttn within days. The first night was hard, the second was half as bad.
  • Pro sleep training here but only to get them to learn how to fall asleep on their own. Not to use it to ignore baby when they need me.  I don't think letting a 7 week old cry for 5-10 minutes by your choice every time is necessarily a great idea (but I know with a toddler that's going to change this time around). We sleep trained at 6 months because at 5 months we were dealing with a serious illness, but it went really well for us. I just don't think a newborn's brain and development is able to be sleep trained before then.
  • We sleep trained around 8-9 months. We folllowed a modified CIO where we would go soothe and comfort after a certain time interval.  We did a lot of research before we started. He wasn’t napping unless we held him and was not falling asleep at night unless we did the same. He transferred horribly, would wake up, and we would start all over. He has the worse case of FOMO and it still makes it hard for him to nap these days.
  • We kind of sleep trained J but not really. When it comes to sleep he was super easy to work with to begin with. We had him in our room in a bassinet, but he napped in his crib during the day until he was about six weeks the. We transitioned to his crib then. We put him to bed at 9 every night with a routine to get the idea of bedtime in his head, and he still goes to bed at that time 90% of the time. He’s slept through the night since he was about 3 months. (9-4 and 5-7 to start with, but he eventually dropped that middle of the night feed... Wanna say around 5 months?) And we exclusively breastfed after the first three weeks.
  • @ivyvines6 - That sounds terrible :( I hope you are feeling better today. @pearlvirus - No flames from me for sure. Eating pumpkin pie straight from the pie tin sounds like heaven to me right now. I am making pumpkin pie for our family Thanksgiving. My DH was shocked when I said I wanted to make 4. He said why so many and I mumbled a vague answer and he left it alone. The real reason is because I am taking 2 to my mom's, 2 for home - one for the boys and the other for me :)
  • I am feeling much better today, thank you! I did lose 3lbs between Wednesday and today though :worried:
  • ...and then I still missed a few. But you get what I meant (at least grammatically!) Sorry I hate typos!
  • I sleep trained at five or six months with my first.  It got him from 12+ wake ups per night down to 4-5.   :D

  • I SAH and still need sleep to do my work..... also I sleep trained because I couldn’t take never sleeping more than 30 minutes, I actually think US society in general says don’t sleep train. Also, I have no problem with cosleeping, we tried it, along with every other possibility, but it resulted in less sleep not more, so that sucked.
