WTF Wednesday 11/15

Hey ladies! What is making you say WTF today?

Mine: Blake Shelton is selected as People Mag's sexiest man alive. Umm... no. Who picked this guy?

Re: WTF Wednesday 11/15

  • @angiek1 whhattt? He's not even cute!

My WTF is my sleeping pattern lately. It seems like every other night now I wake up almost every hour (not even to pee or anything, just because)! WTF!

  • @angiek1 I don't under stand that either.  I can think of TONS off other men that are way sexier then him.

WTF to my lips and having to have a cold sore, i'm so over it and my skin around my lips feel so dried out.

  • @angiek1 I don't think he's bad looking - the sexiest man alive? maybe not but definitely decent IMO - that is until you hear him talk. The man sounds like he has the IQ of a rock.

@Dumbgurl04 my lips have been constantly dried out too and so are my hands. So frustrating!

  • @ftm_ohio I have been sleeping awful too lately, ugh.

My WTF is my bladder. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time now but when I actually go it's like the smallest tinkle ever and that's it. I don't have time to be running to the bathroom all day long for a tablespoon amount of pee.

  • @JJMNO1616 I have been that way too with my bladder.  I find that it mostly feels like I need to pee when i'm walking around but goes away when i'm sitting.  I just assume theres more pressure on my bladder when i'm standing.

  • My WTF goes to Thanksgiving this year.  It is normally my favorite holiday, and it is going to freaking suck this year, which bums me out.

Since my in-laws smoke, we can't  go to their house,  which means I HAVE to host.  Normally I'd drop my kid off with my parents the day before and clean, but they are out if town that week.  So I'm supposed to clean, prep, and cook thanksgiving while working full time,  watching a toddler, and having zero time.  My husband can't help because his job schedule is screwy.  I want to scream and call the whole damn thing off.  No Thanksgiving this year!

  • OH wait... I have another one. I would actually like some feedback on this as well because idk if I am just over reacting as a FTM or not... so my husband travels a lot for work so I told him that he goes on official travel ban beginning in March with my EDD being April 16th. Well yesterday he tells me that he has this "important meeting" (he thinks all of his meetings are important) scheduled for MARCH 23rd which is supposed to be in Florida. I told him hell to the no. He seems to think that if I was to go into labor he could fly back right away and be here in time.  :| We don't have a private jet y'all.... he would have to find a commercial flight to get his butt back here to Texas and hope that there aren't any delays, ect. The entire situation makes me ragey to even think about especially because I have ZERO friends or family here in Texas. Am I being crazy or is it reasonable for me to shut this down?
  • @JJMNO1616 --  I'm on your side with this one. It would maybe be different if it was the beginning of March, but the end of March??? Nope. I can't believe that he is even considering it! Hopefully he will come to his senses and and decide not to go.

  • @JJMNO1616 I agree with the ladies above.  I think i'd feel a little less pissed about it if I had friends and family near by that could be there to support me if something happened while he was away.  Could he make it home before delivery....maybe....but also maybe not.  I don't think the risk is worth it that close to your due date.

  • @ngolimento The fact that he even brought it up to me is really annoying. My husband is a workaholic, so it is really really difficult for him to say no to people at work and to miss things. I think that after he has had some time to let this sink in he will realize he can't risk going but in the meantime he is stressing over it. He had a meeting that he was supposed to go to right around the same time as our first appointment that he also had to skip so he could be with me. So I know he will do the right thing but he makes me question if I am over reacting when it comes to stuff like this.
  • @JJMNO1616 - Before getting pregnant I would sometimes not drink a lot of water b/c going to the bathroom is my least favorite thing. I don't know why, but I find it stupidly inconvenient. New pregnant self is drinking a sh*t load of water and I pee every 20 minutes... boo.

On the travel front, how long is he gone? I mean you never really know when baby is going to come, but I think he is probably safe to go. I wouldn't want him traveling after April 1st b/c then you are in the "go time" zone.

  • @angiek1 He would be gone a week from March 19th-March 23rd. So he would arrive back exactly 3 weeks and 3 days before I am due.

  • @JJMNO1616 total agree with the others comments.  Then again I'm due April 2nd and I told my hubby it's ok for him to go and be the best man in best friends wedding (that is in a different state) March 24th.  He is super nervous about it but I'm still guessing I'll have GD so i'll be induced that week after the wedding, plus my parents are close by in case anything happens.  I know there is always the risk of being early but with my DD I was nowhere close to having a baby when I was induced because of GD and my mom was late with me and both my brothers.  So i'm not too worried, but I can completely understand your feelings.  It would be nerve racking with him traveling and you don't have anyone as a back up if he wasn't there.  Plus my hubby is driving so in case something does happen he can leave and not have to wait on a flight.

  • @JJMNO1616 My husband also has a hard time saying no when it comes to work. And sometimes I feel like if I don't over react to things like that, he won't know how serious it is to me. Maybe that's silly. Having said that my husband will be in California (we are also in Texas) all of March, for work. And this has been on the docket since before we were pregnant.
  • @JJMNO1616 I think as a first time mom, you have a right to expect him to be home the last month of pregnancy. What city are you in and what city is the trip? If it's a well traveled city pair, it probably won't be hard to come back quickly in an emergency. I just think the cost benefit analysis favors you. Were you not a first time mom, surrounded by family and friends, I think it might be different. But the idea of taking yourself to the hospital to face a pretty daunting task, I don't think it's right that you have to worry about that for 4 days...
  • @JJMNO1616 the sleep is the worst, but ALSO with you on the bladder situation!

@stalkinghorse YES!!! I had terrible acne as a teenager and it's SOO much worse now, what is that BS?

@angiek1 IDK why but your comment about thinking having to use the bathroom is stupidly inconvenient made me literally LOL!
  • @JJMNO1616 Oh heck no, he can't go away that close to your due date! I know a ton of moms who delivered 3 weeks early.

    @mikkimikey That's hilarious! I needed that today

My WTF is that I went to my 9:30AM meeting with about 20 nurses and one nursing director who isn't my direct supervisor. At this meeting, said nursing director announced that I'm going to be taking over 1/2 her admin support's job (her admin quit). I was totally blindsided as I'm already covering a colleagues 6 week medical leave and MY OWN BOSS didn't even tell me I was getting all this extra work. I'm pregnant, I'm in school, I can't handle all this extra work stress!
  • @peppersmith22 I was seriously dying last night! What a little jerk!

And as for the covering duties, that sounds like some CRAP right there!!
  • @angiek1 Umm me, I nominate him for that. Blake Shelton is my celebrity crush.

@JJMNO1616 Yeah I'd be pissed too. If it were just a 1-2 day trip it might be okay, but a whole week would seriously stress me out.

My wtf is to my husband and his parents. We usually only see them once every month or two, even though they live close by. Since I started showing they want to get together twice EVERY WEEKEND.  We're leaving for Thanksgiving on Tuesday for a whole week so I need to spend the weekend getting ready. But now I have to go to a craft fair with MIL on Saturday and DH wants to do a gender reveal with them on Sunday. And he invited them, his brothers, his aunt, uncle, and cousin to our house for Christmas dinner without asking me. I do not want to host Christmas dinner by myself while I'm pregnant--I know that's whiny, but it seriously annoys me that I wasn't even asked first.

  • @JJMNO1616, 36 weeks would probably be my cut off for my husband. I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with him being gone that far with no support system around. My husband's work scheduled him for a training out of state the week before my due date, and they were really mad at him for not going. Fortunately, he was home though, because I did end up in the hospital for a NST/elevated BP and we have no family here either. You just never know.

@peppersmith22, that's awful! I'm sorry that got added to your plate!
  • @JJMNO1616

my bladder is doing the same. I ran to the bathroom at Walmart last night only to barely go. I couldn't believe it. I've also been getting up at least 3 times a night to go. Driving me crazy.

My husband has also had work stress with taking time off. It's much improved now. But 13 years ago when we adopted our first child he took one week off to travel to pick up our son. He returned to work hours after our flight touched down in the US.  I was so mad but never said anything about it. Years later it came up and he had no idea I had been so upset. I think it's good to voice your feelings about it.  My next child came over 3 weeks early. It stressed him out just a little but he still took 2 months off. Which was way more than I expected.

@mikkimikey lol. That pic is great. We have one that gets in our trash! They are such clever animals! But a huge pain.

  • @JJMNO1616 for me personally I’d say it’s borderline and be slightly annoyed but sort of ok with him going, BUT all our family/support system are less than an hour away. In your shoes I would be totally freaked out by being alone within the final month as anything can happen. I think you’re totally justified in feeling that way and asking that he not go!

@peppersmith22 you aren’t being whiny at all - I’d be PISSED if H invited that many people (or anyone really) for a holiday dinner without discussing it with me first I’d be livid, cause we both know who is doing 98% of the planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning for that nonsense. NOPE.
    Me: 31  DH: 32
    Married: 10/3/15
    TTC: May 2017
    BFP: 7/20/17
    EDD: 3/29/18
  • @JJMNO1616 - I agree he should have asked, but I would say he is fine to travel with the asterisk that he could be asked to cancel due to an unknown event (i.e. random update from doc that says he should stay).
  • @lindsye Unfortunately I don’t have anyone who could be here with me. All of my friends and family work during the week not to mention I work during the week too so it would be really weird to have someone here hanging out at my house alone just in case I was to go into labor. I think the bottom line is he can’t go lol. That’s where I am at with the situation in my mind so I guess I will see what happens when I talk to him about it again.
  • @JJMNO1616 my preference would be MH stays close by when we are closer to baby's edd. If it's something he can't miss then i would be...semi ok w it. MH can't make the a/s this time bc of work (totally different than labor of course). He's a nurse at the cancer center and someone is on mat leave and someone else is already off so he legit can't take off. This is also our 3rd so I'm more relaxed about things. Ftm probably not so much. I'd have him ask his boss about the importance level and skip if possible.

  • @JJMNO1616 when my best friend was 33-35 weeks her dh was military and on short deployment (2 weeks) (ironically also to Florida, they lived in DC). Can’t exactly tell them no when they tell you to go!  She ended up with her water breaking and docs forced to induce at 34 weeks. Her husband was able to get temporary leave and be home within 12 hours of her water breaking. That said she knew that was a risk(him being gone) and she told me the best thing she did was hire a doula who in the end was more helpful and a better asset during labor than her dh ever was!  Dh isn’t traveling but I have had two tough deliveries so far and I will be hiring one this time too!  Every one of my friends who have had one strongly recommends them. I’ve never had anyone tell me they regret hiring one!
