This is more of a fffc but its about this gif: it took me watching Office Space more than once (we'll pretend it was twice, but maybe it was more) for me to realize he started not caring at work because he got hypnotized. I must not have been in the room when it happened the first time, or I fell asleep, but I distinctly remember being like, OH HE WAS HYPNOTIZED. He's not just an asshole. Got it.
I have a four page assignment due in less than 12 hours, and I have no interest in doing it. I will be so happy when the semester is over in two weeks.
On another note, I just combined Irish cream coffee beans with white hot chocolate, and a dash of vanilla creamer, and omg....I'm in heaven
@SmashJam, that sounds like something I would do. In high school, when we read The Great Gatsby, we were supposed to read certain chapters each night and we would discuss it the next day. I was so confused when everyone was saying how he died, I swear I read it but was not apparently paying any attention.
I am glad I am getting better, but I am sad that my shortened hours are almost over. I have been enjoying my afternoons of relaxing and errands. I am also noticing how I can get my job done in less hours, (because over people have actually had to done some of the shared work instead of me doing most of it.) and the lack of pay has not been an issue. I am contemplating cutting back permanently, but we are trying to buy a new house, so I don't know how much that will change.
haha @holly321 I would definitely understand not paying attention to that book. It was such a let down for me, the whole time I read it I was like, why is this a famous book people discuss? However, that was 15/16 year old me and I never picked it up again, so maybe I would think differently now.
@holly321 This paper is over healthcare communication theories. My motivation is at an all time low, so I'm not really studying as much as I am flying by the seat of my pants
Of course it's open school week when I'm filled with progesterone rage. These parents were driving me nuts. It doesn't bode well for conferences on Thursday.
I'm heading out to my breast doctor now to find out why my right nipple (which autocorrect keeps changing to Nicole- maybe that's her name?) is sore. I should be in the waiting room for about a quarter century.

@SmashJam@holly321 I read Great Gatsby in high school and hated it and didn't understand it at all. I only read it again recently after watching the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio because omg, who doesn't love Leo?!?!? He's my celeb crush.
Sonogram done. Just waiting for the doctor to read it and examine me. I didn't look at the screen- I'm prone to breast cysts and with all the hormones I'm on, I didn't want to freak myself out. FX nothing's wrong and I'll be on my way soon.

All is well. Same fibroaendonoma sans cysts I've had for a decade, and absolutely nothing on my right breast, so the doctor's best guess is dermatitis from a cheap stick-on bra (that one that was all over Instagram this summer). Apparently my nipples are naturally cleft, which might make breastfeeding hard, and he wants me back for a follow up in six months (especially if I'm KTFU, which I totally will be ::insert massive eye roll emoji, which TB seems to be lacking::).

@jsnakehole Glad to hear it isn't anything serious. Btw, I laughed out loud at your breast being named Nicole. Thanks for that this morning!
My in-laws were staying with us this past weekend. DH and I have been together for 10 years and I have always loved his parents. In the last year or so though, his mom has changed a lot. This weekend was incredibly draining. She drank too much one night and kept repeating the same story, she's become insecure in her marriage and tells me all about it, she makes not-so-subtle comments about DH not being grateful enough... oye. They're coming here for Christmas and I'm already worried.
@jsnakehole Glad your appointment went well! Best of luck for this week. Hugs- sorry your week is ragey from hormones. TW-hypothetical pregnancy
Cleft nipples seem to run in my family (4 straight generations of women have/had them). BFing can be difficult- but can be done! Hope you are able to identify additional support resources if that’s the route you choose at that point in time!
@jsnakehole I'm glad your appointment went well and it's nothing too serious!!
@Spylon That's tough! Me and DH have also been together for 10 years and my MIL has been getting weirder as the years pass as well. Although with her a lot of it is anxiety issues - she will no longer drive (as a passenger, she doesn't drive at all) over bridges or on highways so she refuses to come see us anymore. And she won't cook when we come over (because she's too tired) so she invites us over and then asks us to cook for everyone. (And my BIL's wife is useless in the kitchen so it ends up being me that has to cook for 12 people)
My car is in for an oil change/service this morning so I brought my work computer so I could do some emails/work while I'm here. It's been 1.25 hours so far and I've done nothing more productive that catch up on the Bump....oops.
@elolin Ugh, that's rough. Anxiety does tend to just get worse and worse when it isn't dealt with. My MIL tends to be more on the domineering side, so she'll be the type to refuse all offers of help when cooking a big dinner, then complain that she spent all day cooking and that we're all so spoiled and lucky to have her. So. Freaking. Annoying.
@elolin that reminds me of my grandmother. She refused to get in the car if she WASN'T driving! And she was a hazard on the roads. I hated driving with her. Distracted, slow, all over the road. Ugh, she should have had her licence taken away from her years before she stopped driving.
*TW* passing
My heart is breaking for our friend. Her husband is on the ship with MH and his grandfather turned ill over the last few weeks. He has been in hospital and has been asking for family to come and see him. He took a bad turn while the ship was in Mayport, so her husband put in a request to be landed so that he could go and at least say his goodbyes. The XO on the ship denied the request and we had hoped that his grandfather would hang on until this Friday so he would still be able to see him. We just got word this morning that he has passed. IT just breaks my heart that he will never get that opportunity again and that one person had the power to take that away from him. They were only running workups so no reason for the request to be denied. So, so sad.
@Spylon how super weird! I think that inlaws must get weirder as time goes by because they just let their freak flag fly. Maybe we get weirder to them too, because we all get more relaxed, lol
@nitnat007 thats horrible! I hate it when people exercise their power just because, as it seems this person did. And for something that can't be righted at all. Creepy internet hugs for you and your friend.
@nitnat007 That is so awful! I hope the person who denied him feels horrible.
@jsnakehole If it makes you feel better the shed in my backyard is infested with rats atm. We have been dealing with them in our yard/shed since the Spring and had finally cleared the shed (we brought in the professionals) but now because it's cold they obviously moved back in. I went in yesterday to grab a shovel and there were at least 3 dead ones that I could see and all the traps the exterminator set (6 of them in a 10x12 shed) were all snapped and scattered. *Barf* The upside is when you do go in and they're alive they scatter and try to get away so you aren't likely to be attacked by the one hiding in your closet.
That reminds me of a (now) funny story. In the summer we knew we had rats because they were eating my pumpkin vines. And I went into my shed one day to grab something and saw droppings. While I was in there we discovered that wasps were also setting up camp in the shed and had a nest in the far back corner. So I went back into the shed a few days later to set traps for the rats because I was not ok with them being inside (being outside is ok since I know I'm unlikely to eradicate them entirely from the outdoors). When I opened the door to the shed to set the trap there was a live rat in there that I startled - he ran across a beam and knocked over a stack of wood that landed near the wasps nest and disturbed the wasps who then swarmed me and I got stung 3 times. This was also when I learned I'm apparently allergic to bees (although the pharmacist says it could just be from the amount of venom at once) but thankfully I made it to the pharmacy and they gave me an epi-pen and benedryl and I ended up ok. Getting stung while trying to set a trap for the rats was when I decided it was time to call in the professionals and we now have a year-long plan that includes unlimited visits. But long story short - we now refer to our shed as the 'little shed of horrors.'
@nitnat007 That's awful! What a jerk to deny a request like that. @jsnakehole Yikes! Mice inside freak me out. I had one in my dorm room in college and it ran across MY HEAD while I was sleeping. Not ok!
@nitnat007 that is so sad that they would deny a request like that.
@jsnakehole and @elolin we had rats in our attic at our last house. I wasted no time in call in the professionals. In our new house the problem is roaches 2.5 inches long. That is something I can’t abide. I get so paranoid about them.

@jsnakehole. Glad the appointment went well. @Spylon. Oh no! That must have been incredibly awkward. Was your FIL in the room? What did you say to MIL? I hope the Christmas visit is better. @elolin that sounds terrible! So sorry for that experience. @nitnat007 So sorry for YH’s friend/co-worker and his loss.
AFM, I’m really into my latest book—The Boys in the Boat. It’s happily taken my mind off of TTC and PMS woes this afternoon. I love that reading transports you into a different space.
Omg guys... I'm dying I'm laughing so hard. Go to my in-laws this evening and MIL has a box of pie crusts for me sitting on the counter. Something about the church purchasing them for people to take for holiday usage. Box states 12 count. Okay, cool. That"s a lot of pie but whatever, thanksgiving, christmas, homemade pot pies, etc plus they freeze! Awesome, I love pie. Get home and go to put them in the freezer only to discover that sure there's 12 packages, of 2 pie crusts each. I now have 24 friggin pie crusts sitting in my freezer, and my MIL has another 24. I dunno if I'm insane but I am crying I am laughing so hard about this. Plus my MIL's response is "omg coconuts, what are we going to do? You can't tell anyone. That's so many pies!"

@lurvleybunchococonuts, I am just sitting here thinking of all the glorious pies you get to eat. I love and hate baking this time of year. I want to eat everything. I keep seeing different types of cookies and I want to watch them all.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I’ll take rhubarb, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin, pecan, chocolate-chip pecan, PB&J pie, a quiche, lemon meringue, and a peach, please! Eta: (it finally worked !)
@lurvleybunchococonuts. I will take some too! . Yum! Lol that will be a ton of pies...I bet you will get the awesome neighbor award if you make them and take them around the neighborhood.
Most hilarious part of the pie crust insanity is that knowing my MIL, I'll end up with the other 24 eventually, plus she already had 2 in the freezer that she tried to give me just last week, so I will likely end up with all 50 crusts
@dukestar5 that's a good thought, although I only know like... 3 of my neighbors (downstairs and each side) we'll see how ambitious I get. Also H's response to giving some pie crusts to my boss/coworkers "Heck no, those are my pies, ALL the pies shall be mine! Muahahahah"
@jrm_14 PB&J pie? If that's a thing you gotta tell me all abouts it. Also H would probably die happily for a chocolate chip pecan pie, I SUPPOSE just this once I can make him it
@spottedginger Hahaha, that gif is from the *Hunger* Games and we're talking about pie... am I the only dork that finds that funny?
@nitnat007 I'm thinking I'll be good even past Easter, I don't make pie that often... guess I'm gonna start. H wants to do a "breakfast pie" (but NOT quiche) he has some idea with cream cheese and fruit or something like that

@lurvleybunchococonuts what about meat pie? my FIL does one that is usually ground venison and beef mixed, but you could do pork and beef, or lamb- some super soft potatoes and onions with spices. Not sure of the recipe but reasonably sure the spices include nutmeg. They freeze super well too.
@smashjam ooo good idea thanks ETA: my MIL's contribution to "what are we going to do with all these pie crusts" was "Oooo! Now you can make Shepherd's pie!" <--- I didn't have the heart to tell her that shepherd's pie doesn't even use pie crust! I think she has officially lost her mind.

@dukestar5 FIL wasn't there for the part where she was telling me about their marriage. I got to handle that all by myself lol. I kinda just nodded sympathetically, suggested multiple times that she have a conversation with him about her worries. I hope it gets through, but probably not.
