Question: is anyone going into this pregnancy at a lower weight than a previous pregnancy?
I have an almost one year old and am about 7lbs below my normal/pre-first-pregnancy weight (130 lbs) - primarily just due to breastfeeding. I only nurse a couple times a day now and plan to slowly wean, but I’m just curious if that extra 7 lbs will come back VERY quickly with this new pregnancy. Lol I gained around 40 lbs last time and would like to stay around that, but it is what it is!
Anyone have experiences to share?
If your healthy weight gain was 40 lbs, I would expect it to remain the same this time around! I gained about 60 lbs last time (starting 120 and ending 180) and a lot of it I lost immediately after child birth (40 lbs) and recently was back to 123 when I got pregnant again. The truth is, weight is not a good way to measure your healthy pregnancy. If you eat healthy, take your prenatals, and fit in exercise when able, that is a much more accurate measurement of a healthy pregnancy. Focusing on the scale at a time like this will only drive you crazy (I definitely realized that last time!!)
@djh513 I'm about 8lbs below my first pregnancy weight ~130 now too. I gained almost 50 lbs with my 1st but I lost it ALL by my 6 week follow up. The last 10 lbs or so was water weight though- I was really puffy towards the end. I think it was breast feeding that did it for me too. I bf'd until a couple of months ago, my son is 2 now. So far I haven't gained back any weight, but I also wasn't producing much anymore.
@celainev Yes, I started at 130 and ended at 170, and have been at 122-123 since about 9 months PP (12 months this month). I would say a normal, healthy weight for me is 120-130. I definitely had a healthy pregnancy last time, just wondering how breastfeeding may or may not impact it this time around!

@djh513 dang! I just recently weaned my two year old and my body was definitely not the type that it helped me lose all my weight! I was so disappointed by that. I was hoping that maybe weaning her would get my hormones to a place that they'd feel free to release the fat I'd clearly stored to nourish my child.
Im overweight and have been working hard to lose weight. Im 5 lbs from my pp weight with my first. I ended up gaining a lot of weight when I was struggling with post partum I’ve lost 25 lbs and hoping I can continue to build muscle throughout this pregnancy and keep active so that I don’t gain very much. My weight has me very very anxious when it comes to pregnancy and gaining.
