  • @StephieMK I soooooo think about doing that with DD.  I get off work at 3 and sometimes just want to go home and sit and relax until 5 then go get her from daycare.  But part of me fears that I won't want to go back out again and get her.

  • @JJMNO1616 I'm glad your shower got sorted out!
@Dumbgurl04 I hope the transition to undies goes smoother from now on!
@ladythrice I'm having a hard time adjusting my thoughts too! When I was pregnant with DS, the ultrasound tech at our 12 week NT scan said we were definitely having a girl, but at our 20 week ultrasound we found out DS was a boy. Our NIPT results say we're having a girl, but my brain is still not convinced even though I know the NIPT is very unlikely to be wrong. I think/hope the anatomy scan will set my brain right.

    1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?

    15 Weeks, orange
    2. How are you feeling?
Great, I even cleaned around the house last weekend.
    3. Any appointments coming up?
    Not until next Friday
    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
Time change blues, I hate it when it's already dark when I leave work.
    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
I had Skittles, and I don't know why, but OMG they were amazing. I might actually have to eat Skittles once in a while.

  • 1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?

    18 weeks! Artichoke!

    2. How are you feeling?

Meh. Physically I'm fine but definitely very emotional. Not sure if I'm feeling baby yet , so envious of those who have! Definitely more tired too, which is a mix of baby and new blood pressure meds I think!

    3. Any appointments coming up?
Thursdat check up / meeting with new OB! She's closer to us so we won't be in crazy traffic trying to get to or from (freaking San Diego traffic!)

    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
My emotions were out of control yesterday which is so unlike me. I've been kinda bummed that my friends have kinda fallen off the face of the earth since I've been pregnant (how do you guys deal with that ?) And feeling pretty lonely. Long story short boyfriend went fishing all day on my only day off and didn't invite me when he normally does so that turned into a fun rollercoaster of craziness. We just moved in together a month or so ago and I know we need our own time but it still sucked to have to be by myself on the only day I didn't have to do AnYTHING and he just doesn't understand why which is also making me feel a little isolated (yay rants). Totally find doing things independently but itd be nice to not have to for once.

    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
Moms house had so much extra candy I've been digging almond joys. At work the candy box has HUNDRED GRAND BARS which are my absolute favorite and I can't stay away.

  • @ladythrice @irenejean I was SO convinced I was having a boy! The reality has set in that it's a girl but I have had this really crazy thought about "what if" we found out it was a boy at the anatomy scan LMAO. It's more likely for the test to be wrong if it comes back female then male, so that has still been on my mind! I really hope it's not a boy though at this point because I have bought so many little girl outfits and I offered to make my own DIY baby shower invites which are SUPER girly lol!

@irenejean I hate how dark it is at the end of the day as well. I would much rather drive to work in the dark.

@kmalls I'm so sorry to hear you got sick! I felt really weird yesterday for about an hour (sweaty and shaky) but then it seemed to go away.

  • 1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?
    18 weeks, artichoke/slingshot
    2. How are you feeling?
Pretty good! Finally have more energy, and I convinced my boss to let me get an exercise ball chair for the office which is doing WONDERS for my back pain. My limping stopped the day I got it!
    3. Any appointments coming up?
Anatomy scan on 11/17, which feels so far away right now
    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
Echo others on feeling movement! Confession time: I actually have been thinking I felt movement for the past 3 weeks, but since it was so early I wrote it off as gas or whatever for awhile. It's really ramped up the past week and feels like I what I thought was movement before, only stronger. So now I'm pretty confident that is what I was feling. Either way, it's exciting to feel so much so early! With DS I had an anterior placenta and I didn't feel anything at all until much later.

  • @Dumbgurl04 Oh, I never want to get up and leave the house again but I have to, can't leave her there! Haha. And that's awesome that your DD asked for underwear! My DD asked to sit on the potty twice this weekend but doesn't actually go. She's been doing that a while at daycare now. My ped told us to wait til 2.5 to try potty training so I'm not pushing it until then.

@scuba_chic Anything peanut and chocolate is great! We can't eat too much of it now that it's been discovered that DD has a peanut allergy. Poor kid!

    15 - orange
    2. How are you feeling?
Having some pretty awful hip pain that I aggravates yesterday when trying to pull the stroller up the stairs backwards, ouch. Anyone happen have tips for alleviating hip pain? I alternated ice & heat all day yesterday and it's slightly better today.
    3. Any appointments coming up?
    Anatomy scan on 11/16
    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
This poor child - With DD I was taking weekly pictures tarting at 10 weeks and writing in her baby book weekly. Not one picture taken yet with this one and I haven't even bought a book. I need to get on that!

    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
Oh my goodness - the Reese's PB cups with the Reese's Pieces inside!! Can't get enough. I seriously need to rein it in though! I think I'm using this pregnancy as an excuse to eat all the candy which I normally never do.

@irenejean - I despise the time change too! I get seasonal depression on occasion and am not looking forward to that + pregnancy. I've also been trying to walk in the neighborhood every day after work but there goes that possibility now. Grr.

  • 1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?
15 weeks, baby is the size of a navel orange
    2. How are you feeling?
Good! I have no complaints this week :) I might even have enough energy now to start exercising again
    3. Any appointments coming up?
Not until my anatomy scan on Dec 8th.
    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
It's parent/teacher conference week at my school...they make for some very long days and I already can't wait to sleep all weekend (oh, wait, I have a two year old)

@priestess619 Friendships... for me those have definitely changed since I entered this stage of life. I feel like the level of change is determined by a two main factors: age and stage of life of friends. For me, I'm in my 30s and many of my friends are at the same stage of life as me (homeowners, steady partners/marriages, established in their career etc). Not all have kids, or even want kids, but many do. Because of this, my friendships have changed but not by much. My friends without kids can pick up and travel at will, have date nights at fancy restaurants every week, stay out until all hours of the night, and generally spend money on whatever they want whenever they want. I can't do all these things but my friends are great at compromise. They travel to see me, knowing that its difficult for me to travel. Local friends will accommodate my schedule and have earlier dinner dates on the times DH and I join them. I don't get the impression that my lifestyle change has bothered my friends at all, nor do I feel left out by them... but at this point I'm 3 years into the change, and given the stage of life everyone was at when I transitioned (mentioned above) very little has changed for us.

I think the friendship change is felt more prominently by younger people or by people who are at different stages of life. Like, if you're in a steady relationship, homeowner, career oriented, but your friends are still fresh out of school, not sure what they want to do with their lives and on the hunt for their next love, its so drastic of a difference its hard to bridge the gap when you start having kids (just based on my observation of others) and it makes the changes to a friendship more noticeable.

  • @kmalls Sorry you are sick hope you feel better soon.  I know being sick isn't fun but add on pregnancy and that is just the worst.

@StephieMK what's funny is early last week they told me at daycare that DD does so great with going potty.  She usually tells them she has to go and stays dry the whole day.  They actually brought up bringing underwear in the next couple of weeks to try that.  I was shocked when her daycare told me because she is so hit or miss at home but after they told me and I asked her why she can't potty like that at home she has gotten way better.

@priestess619 from my experience I have a really good friend at work who has fertility issues, which we sometimes talk about because I ask her how things are going.  I found I was pregnant right around the time she was having a miscarriage and some other issues with her recent treatment (I had no idea at the time) and she kind of stopped talking to me as much and because short when we tried to gossip about normal work things.  I just gave her some space then about a month or so later she started talking normally again and that is when I found out about the things in July (which I told her I felt like such an ass, even though I didn't talk much about my pregnancy) She was ok and just said she needed some space which is perfectly understandable.  Also another example I have a friend who likes to go out and drink on weekends which sometimes after my kid goes to bed I'll met up with here but it doesn't happen a lot.  She got married 2 1/2 months before me and she is going through a divorce right now and I'm going to have my second kid.  So we are just going through different stages in life but we are still friends even if we don't talk and see each other a whole lot.  It will happen when you have kids sometimes you just have to give people space.

  • So jealous of all you ladies getting close to 20 weeks! I feel behind back here at 16.

    1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?
    16 weeks

    2. How are you feeling?
Pretty good! Today is the first day in 3 weeks without horrendous back pain. Annoyed that the physical therapy has me out of work so often and costs $30 every time, but clearly it's working.

    3. Any appointments coming up?
Not until next week, routine check up.

    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
Eh, for anyone tracking my rant in the weekly randoms thread - SIL still hasn't had baby. They'll let her go until Thursday and then induce (we arrive Friday, ugh). The worst part for her is she planned to deliver at a birthing center but if they induce she'll have to go to the hospital which does a mandatory 3 day stay after delivery. Does 3 days seem super long to anyone else?? With DS they would let us leave after 24 hours but recommended 48, which was fine with us.

    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
Pb cups and peppermint patties, yum!!
  • @Dumbgurl04 @ladythrice @itsrandiyo
Thanks for the input and words of advice/listening to me vent . I half feel SUPER bratty and egocentric about expecting everyone to have time for me , half kind of expected my friends to be there for me for this surprise (a good one!) I'm definitely independent usually so I'm struggling with these needy feelings but definitely need to get back into the things I love. I'm definitely someone who loved going out prepregnancy (moreso than I should have, at least it's saving me money haha) so the transition has been a little hare, but healthy ! I think I need to find me some other mom's to be in the area !
  • @Puddlewonderful I have never given birth before but 3 days seems long to me. Hopefully baby decides to come within the next 48 hours on their own! Even though she may be in the hospital when you are there it will still be nice to go visit them and see the baby. Maybe you could spend some time at their house and make some freezer meals or something too so they have them to come home to.
  • @puddleswonderful That is amazing news about your back! I'm glad PT is helping you.
@kaessi So sorry to hear about your hip pain! I've been having hip pain the last few days. I took an epsom salt bath and feel somewhat better. Maybe that would help you? Good idea about icing & heat. I hope yours gets better soon!

    1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?
16 weeks today. Baby is the size of an avocado (my favorite)!

    2. How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty well! I feel fairly normal besides increased hip pain, which is making it  hard to walk throughout the day. I tried working out this evening and ended up limping out of the gym.. I was not doing a hard workout by any means! Hip pain is something that I've dealt with for 4-5 years, but I am nervous now that I'm pregnant and don't ever feel like I know what I can and cannot do.

    3. Any appointments coming up? I have an appointment coming up the first week of December for my 20-week ultrasound. Hoping baby looks good. :)

    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions? Sometimes I think I feel baby moving but I'm never quite sure.. I cannot wait until it's obvious!

    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
I love Skittles and any type of gummies at the moment!

@scuba_chic, I'm in the same boat as you as far as motivation for exercise goes.  Let me know if you find something that gets you off the couch!  Also, yay for deals on Offer Up.  I love me a good bargain!

@kmalls, I hope you feel better soon!  I also am super eager to feel baby moving.  FTM here and still waiting.

@growingournest, I've got conferences coming up in a week and a half.  I feel like I'm drowning in report card stuff.  Sending good vibes for your week to go quickly!

@Dumbgurl04, I'm glad to hear that things got back to normal between you and your friend with fertility issues.  One of my closest friend's IVF failed right around the time I found out I was pregnant.  Things are still weird between us.  I'm really trying to give her space and I'm hoping we can figure it out.

    1. How many weeks along are you? How big is baby?
    17 weeks; pomegranate
    2. How are you feeling?
I've been having headaches for the past week - pretty much non-stop.  I've been trying to hydrate better and limit the Tylenol I'm taking.
    3. Any appointments coming up?
Tomorrow!  I finally get to visit the midwife practice we'll be delivering with.  Had to switch things up due to my work switching insurance on us.
    4. Rants, raves, celebrations, questions?
No big complaints.  I'm still waiting to look more pregnant and feel the baby move.  I'm sure I'll regret saying this in a few months when I'm feeling huge and uncomfortable.
    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?

Pregnancy is the first time in my life I've had a sweet tooth!  I've always been a cheese for dessert kind of girl.  NOT ANYMORE!  I'm really enjoying Reese's PB cups and Twix.  Still not big on Skittles and Starbursts though.

    Edited for spelling
  • @keeksie84 so I get headaches like woah as well... every damn pregnancy. Running a humidifier really helps me (particularly for overnight)! Also, my OB is totally nonchalant about Tylenol usage. I told her that sometimes I'm taking a dose everyday and her response was, "great, do what you gotta do!"

Also, to your comment about the sweet tooth, before getting pregnant with DS, I was a savory/salty fiend. I could easily turn down all sweets for a salty snack instead. I still LOVE salty/savory goodies but now I'm also obsessed with sweets... and its WAY worse whenever I'm pregnant. My DH is a sweet lover and I can't help but wonder if his sperm infected me...  :D:D:D

  • @dan0081 Thanks! I hope your hip pain gets better too! I struggled with it before being pregnant too & I know what you mean about not really knowing what will aggravate it at this point. I'm going to a chiropractor today at the suggestion of my OB. Kind of nervous but also really hopeful that it will work!

Lololololol @ladythrice I'm totally telling DH that his sperm infected me when it comes to my candy preferences. That's amazing.
  • Sorry for the delay.  TB was giving me issues all yesterday afternoon.

@StephieMK jealous of that massage!  That sounds amazing!
@scuba_chic a lot of my friends haven't converted their cribs because the cost of the additional parts sometimes is more than a cheap bed frame for their kids.
@ladythrice I keep feeling like we are having a boy.  We haven't decided if we will find out this Friday but if we do and it's a girl (I"ll be just as happy) I think it will be hard for my brain.  I keep saying 'he' all the time.
@kmalls I have an anterior placenta this time (I might of last time too) and I just feel flutters down low.  Nothing can be felt from the outside.
@keeksie84 I was having a lot of headaches too.  My OB told me that you can be well hydrated and still get headaches because sometimes it's just a pregnancy thing.  He told me that by 20 weeks there should be some kind of relief.  Now I'm sure everyone is different but thought I would share.

I spent a few hours installing our new gas cooktop! It's so pretty lol :) We switched from electric, so there will be a little learning curve again.

    5. As we are all working ourselves through our children's (or left over) Halloween candy.... which one is your favorite?
I don't really have a favorite...  I am a horrible sugar junkie, and love chocolate, sour, and fruity candy.  The only candy I don't like is gummy worms.  They make me gag, and when I was in high school, I actually ate some to get sick on a date that I wanted to end  :D

@mispanda, my midwife said the same thing today.  She said a tiny bit of caffeine might help.  Also, it could be vision change related.  I'm hoping to see some relief by week 20!
