@laceybee522 I live in Florida and Zika is not an issue here.
As for Disney, DD (3) has she been several times since she was 1. She loves it and it is so cool to watch the excitement on her face. There are a bunch of rides they can go on even if they are short and you can babywear on a lot.
But it's different for us Floridans because we can make a day trip and bring your own food in, so it's not overly expensive.
As everyone plans and dreams , heres my two cents-- if you are flying with an almost 2 year old, and can opt for them to be a "lap rider" -- don't.
We spent 3 hours being "that family" with the toddler who was just miserable. She couldn't sleep, wouldn't relax and was generally just a pain. And then we had to do it all again on the way home, where she got so worked up, she vomited ON ME.
Pay the extra $$$ and get them into a seat.
Our *hopefully* plans, contingent on renting another year rather than purchasing a home and moving the month I deliver this baby, our lease is up June 30th.
Where are you going? Washington D.c. When are you going? How far along will you be? End of March, 30 weeks Why did you choose that time/destination? While I am a beach lover -- My husband and son absolutely are not. That is spring break, and they are hosting "awesome con" so I can play tourist, relax, and the boys can fanboy-out for 2 solid days. What about it are you most excited for? Some time away from the everyday-craziness to spend quality time with my little family before life gets a while busier this summer.
@twelvetwosomeonenew ~ I agree! We flew with DS last Christmas and he was like 4 months shy of two. I am SO glad we opted to buy him a seat. And I just brought his car seat and he was fully contained and was actually able to fall asleep. Until descent. Then it was bloody murder screaming - and we were “those parents”. Ugh. But as far as the seat goes, for sure was worth having him in his own seat.
@BurlapandLace we were 3 months shy, I thought we would totally be fine. She rides in the car SO WELL. loves to sit in my lap and read/nap/color. Oh how wrong I was.
Fruit snacks (lots of them) were a lifesaver during takeoff and descent!
@BurlapandLace I would just like to say that DHs ears are very sensitive, and on our flight to Hawaii it was 90% kids, and during descent I looked around and all the kids were crying.... along with my husband. I can’t even imagine dealing with a tiny human with sensitive ears like his.... but I guess I’ll find out
Former flight attendant here- get the seat and DON'T put the baby on the floor under the seat in front of you to nap. I'd like to say I'm joking but I had to tell people to pick up their baby on more than one occasion for doing that. Terrifying.
@twelvetwosomeonenew - Oh yeah. As if planes weren't disgusting enough- to put them on the floor...eew. The safety issues are beyond belief. One bit of turbulence and your kid is face planting onto a metal seat, possibly sliding into the foot space of the folks in front of you, rolling into the aisle. Come on people. It is just scary. If that is how these kids are parented in public what happens at home. eek.
Hi ladies! My husband and I got married in June, and we have our honey moon (now also baby moon) to California next week! I will be 8.5 weeks. We will be visiting San Diego & Venice Beach & West Hollywood! We usually enjoy a lot of drinks together on vacay but now planning a more sober honeymoon. Any suggestions on fun things in that area?! xo
@mommaeb I loved The Butcher's Daughter in Venice Beach. And Eggslut! You have to go to Eggslut. There's a tiki bar in San Diego we loved, but obv that's not really fun right now...
@doxiemoxie212 Yessssss! I've been to The Butchers Daughter before and will definitely be going again! Omg I'm already rolling over all the amazing food there! I've been seeing/hearing a lot about this Eggslut on social media and now I know we must go! While in San Diego were staying in an airbnb on the beach with my sister in law and her husband, they've been there for the last month and seem to always been at a cute tiki bar next door, on the beach, I wonder if it's the same one!! I think it's called Sand Bar, but I could be wrong.
Anyone have any vacations or babymoons planned (or thinking of)? If so... We planned a surprise wedding in August and are planning a big reception in March so that is when we will actually take our honeymoon.
Where are you going? DH and I are hoping to go back to Hawaii. When are you going? How far along will you be? March after my bday. 6ish months Why did you choose that time/destination? We already had our reception planned and I felt okay at 6 months before. What about it are you most excited for? Relaxing, sleeping in, floating in a pool. It will be our first trip away from DD who will be 2 in April.
@pinottoparenthood We're you in April16? I feel like I recognize your name.
When are you going? How far along will you be? The week of Thanksgiving, I'll be 8 weeks.
Why did you choose that time/destination? It's been my dream honeymoon for decades, and my fiance has made it his life mission to fulfill my dreams. He's kinda the best
What about it are you most excited for? Is everything an acceptable answer? Honestly I'm most excited for the food and getting to wander the city of lights with my newly minted husband. I'm also stoked for the photoshoot we have where we'll be taking our pregnancy announcement and christmas photos. I can't wait to share them with y'all!
