  • @spottedginger Is that all it took to get lund banned?
  • @SkilledSailor I just saw our two other members get warnings. Her comment was still up when I posted. And crap. Did she already have a couple warnings?
  • @spottedginger I didn’t see it before it was removed. I assume she already had a couple warnings unless what she said was absolutely over the top offensive (which I doubt).
  • She didn’t say anything offensive and just said the poster said she didn’t want to join a bmb
  • @smashjam I was lurking and saw you like mini sour brite crawler candy. I saw them this week in a box!  You know how there is candy in movie-theater like boxes in the grocery store candy section?  There!  FX I didn’t just get your hopes up if you can’t find them!
  • @jrm_14 I just saw this! Thanks for the tip I will definitely be looking!
  • I have had an alarm go off on my phone at 4:40am for the last several mornings. There is not a single alarm, not reminder alarm, set in my phone. Whhhhhhat gives, Siri?  What gives?!
  • OMG, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is awesome! I love the pure awkwardness, and random singing...Lol! If you need a laugh, you have to give it a try.

  • Boring question, but in the US it’s benefit enrollment time. Is anyone taking into consideration your TTC/pregnancy related costs when making Medical FSA allotments? And if so what are you planning for?

I’m thinking of signing up for one with my company, but I’m unsure how much in each month.

  • @meggyme Yes, absolutely. H took care of it already since his company had enrollment in October. It's an expensive plan but covers IF testing and partially covers IF treatment. And *if* we get lucky enough to get KU, it's a plan that the birth center I like takes.
  • @meggyme, I very much did, last year, lol.  TW with my other 2, we had relatively low deductibles, then a coinsurance, and the costs in the past of my 2 births and d&c we're ridiculous. End TW

This time, we have a higher deductible, but a lower out of pocket, so, I know the most we will spend cuts off at an affordable amount.  We meet our out of pocket a few times, and in the past we still had to pay copays, but with the deductible plan, we literally pay nothing since the middle of the year.  I have had 2.5 free surgeries (the first one cost we only a few hundred dollars, lol). I kept this plan, I know I will not deliver next year since I am benched, but hopefully I will be pregnant.

  • @SkilledSailor @holly321 I’m actually talking about medical (or limited use) Flexible Savings Accounts, not health insurance. DH is military so we get great insurance through him, but there are other expenses (like some copays, small deductible, and any emergency services) that we’re still on the hook for.

Things like out of pocket costs, some OTC meds/bandages, PNV’s, pregnancy tests, fertility monitors, etc are eligible and I’m trying to figure out how much I should plan to set aside without going over.

  • @meggyme, oh sorry, I see!  I generally try to set aside what our out of pocket costs are.  Our account will not pay for anything without a script, so I can't get tests or vitamins with it, well, I could, I just don't bother getting scripts for stuff sometimes.
  • @meggyme what kind of military insurance do you have? My husband's Tricare sucked, even when he was active duty. We've been using my PPO that I get as a city employee. It's not great, but it covers doctor appointments and the copays are low.

  • @meggyme I put aside each month to cover either 2 chiro or 1 60 min massage. That way I have some room to get co-pays or Rx covered. If I don't use it, then I know how many relaxing 'preventative' app. I can have.

  • @jsnakehole I have tricare standard, so I have some copays/small deductible. I’m pretty healthy and most preventative care is covered 100%.

    TW Previous pregnancy:
It was great during my last pregnancy because my prenatal care was covered almost completely and I got to go to the civilian doctor /hospital I wanted to. I think my hospital bill was $35.

But my job offers a med FSA so I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the trouble to use it.

@princesslockness did you need an Rx for the massages? I think the FSA my work has requires a script for them.

  • @meggyme I have an HSA (which is a different ‘type’ of FSA). I’ve had an FSA in the past. I looked at how much I could feel comfortable coming out of my paychecks each month vs what I would likely use. Either we will use it for a child or use it for IF related expenses. I’ve never put too much in an FSA/HSA.

@meggyme You can also use your FSA to buy most sunscreens and breastpads, pump, contacts, etc. we put enough in our that it will have about 50% of our deductible in there.
ETA: I have a high deductible plan (no choice). My specialty medication is covered by a copay assistance program, and still counts towards my deductible. So, if I was not in that spot, I’d have put more into our HSA.
  • @meggyme The place I used was able to send it to my flex plan so it was a preventative thing. It was preventing my pelvis from getting further out of alignment. No script needed.

  • @jrm_14 I wish I had an hsa option because any leftover would go toward my 401k, but it is only available with work health insurance, which I don’t use. Our FSA is use or lose over $500. That’s helpful, thank you.

@princesslockness I’ll have to ask my doctor about something like that. I’m looking for a new one anyway.

I might end up just putting a few hundred in over the course of the year and see how much gets used and then adjust next year. Thanks everyone!

  • FYI: pregnancy tests are eligible for FSA dollars (not HSA though :()
  • @jsnakehole your hot pocket makes me wanna eat the pizza rolls I have in the freezer...but I've already had dinner. Sigh.
  • @jrm_14, I have a specialty medication that meets our deductible in two fills, it was the best surprise last year.  I may be remembering incorrectly, but you have an autoimmune disease too, right?  I wonder if it is the same thing?
  • I suck at socializing/making plans. A friend I haven't seen in 3 years is in town, and I texted her asking what she's doing tomorrow. She said it's her friend's birthday and they're going to this fancy rooftop bar. Does that mean it's cool if I come by to say hi? Is she saying she's busy? Am I a dweeb for asking if it's okay to meet up there? Ugh, this is why I stay home.

  • @jsnakehole Oh man! I hate ambiguous texts. I’d probably play it safe and assume it was not an invite. Instead I’d ask if your friend was free before or after to hang out. FX for before because sleep.
  • @jsnakehole I agree I would also play it safe and not assume. One would think that they would have added a "and you should join us" comment onto that text if that is what was meant. But like you, I don't get out much, so maybe I am not up on the social text norms lol.
