Can’t even think about what we need after registering for all the cloth diaper stuff. That was writing a thesis. (I know I’m registering early but that novel of a thread on CDs made me wanna get that shot over with Asap.

I finally cleaned out the room that will be the nursery. Now SO needs to sand and refinish the floors! So yah will have that done hopefully before April 30th.
I started reading the cloth diapers thread but then left because it seemed so early to think about....now with you saying it was like writing a thesis I'm rethinking it! Lol. I haven't 100% decided on CD but definitely want to give it a try. Any advice on how to tackle a list of what is needed? (Or should I just pop back on the thread?)
  • I thought all we needed was clothes for a boy. But we were looking at stuff in the garage and the straps of the high chair got moldy. So did the stroller. Not sure if I can wash them out. Car seats will have just expired. I don't want to get all new gear so I have to figure something out. Trying not to worry about it. People are always passing on baby gear in my community so I'm sure it well work out but so annoying.
  • My local goodwill has 50 cents baby clothes....dangerous.

And, is this stupid?  My best friend has a lake house we spend every summer at but don't know if we should get a real high chair, or just use this for both.  Babies need so many things, this is overwhelming.

@justsuzie in my experience babies can't sit in highchairs well and supported until 4-5 months (more on the 5 month end). Our highchair was packed away for a long time until he could actually sit in it.
  • @cups4 so we will wait on that....do people register for high chairs?

  • @justsuzie I did, it was nice to have when we needed it and not think about the purchase later  :)
  • @justsuzie you definitely can register for one. We also just used one that strapped to a chair and before he could support himself all the way used a bumbo seat someone passed along to us. The high chair was just too huge for us and we have limited space.
also remember even if someone doesn't buy it for you, if it's on your registry there's usually a period after baby is born or after the shower date that you get a discount on anything
left. I think we had like three months after DS was born to buy the things at 15% off the price. It's at least worth checking with the stores!
  • Anyone else experiencing swollen fingers? Last two days my wedding rings have been tight.
  • We need to pick a lovey for this child.  Other than that... probably nothing.

  • @ivyvines6 I swear I’ve been feeling them the last week. I’m 14+3 today, so it’s not totally impossible.
I thought I felt them last week but I pushed it out of my mind. Tonight for sure though. I'm 14 weeks today.

@justsuzie We registered for our high chairs, but didn't use them until around 6 months, like PPs said-until they could sit up unassisted.  And really, they're not eating anything they need to sit up for until around that time anyway.  We started with some cereal around 4-5 months and just put them in their swings in the highest position.  Also, we travel and camp a lot, so we bought these-they're cheap, super small and portable, and the girls love them. (Although I feel like ours were closer to $10, but maybe I'm remembering incorrectly....)  And these we actually used as boosters at our normal dining room table after the girls grew out of their high chairs.

Whoever wrote about the bumbo, there are so many bad comments about using them too often, I would definitely recommend reading some more about them before making that decision.  They can really delay building up core muscles and sitting/standing independently.
@kpc914 Honestly, I'm not disappointed at all.  I love our drama free board.  I like to watch it from afar, but don't want it to get on me.   :D
@mmb4532 I took my rings off like, last week.  I was already gaining weight before I got pregnant, and they just started getting uncomfortable and I had a hard time taking them off.  Last time I wore them on a necklace, but I wear a lanyard now and they get tangled.  Plus, I'm at the point in my life where I DGAF what people think of me, so if someone wants to say something rude or give me a dirty look because I'm visibly pregnant and not wearing a ring, I fucking dare them to.  They will regret it immediately.
@cups4 I guess I hadn't realized it, but I haven't seen much from her lately!  That makes me so sad, I hope everything is okay......let us know if you find anything out .
@ivyvines6 That's so exciting!  I can't wait to feel that again.
Edited because something weird was happening with tagging in random places....

  • Thanks fo all the high chair info!  Even more to think about.

@sandbar517 I hadn’t heard this about the bumbo! I def want to read up more.

@cups4 I noticed this too. I hope everything is okay. I ghosted once on a board because I was having a tough time but I returned when I got my shit figured out. Hope it’s the sane deal.

The toddler just started tamtrummimg this week. I am fucking scared of having a newborn on top of this. I think being a STM and knowing what the newborn months are actually like is scaring me even more. Help me.
This is my expectation as well, even though I am TTM. My first was a horrible mess of colic and reflux. My second maybe could have been easy but then my toddler brought home 1000000x colds and we ended up being sick for the entire winter, including 2 overnights at the hospital. Also neither of my babies tolerated being put down, like ever for at least 3-4 months. I sometimes wonder if the whole sleepy newborn thing is a myth... but then I meet someone else’s and I’m like WTF?!? Oh well. Maybe third time will be the charm! And for be record I’d take sassy attitudes and tantrums over constant crying and showering in spitup, any day!
  • @sandbar517 that was me who hated on the bumbo ;)
  • @sandbar517 it was me who used it. But to be fair we only used it when he could really sit up well and we were doing food. I never really left him just chilling in it. Also for any FTM keep in mind that walkers are usually discouraged because it encourages incorrect walking. I know my parents and that generation love them, but our pediatrician told us to just skip it altogether.

We had a physical therapist recommend the bumbo seat and we used it a bit here and there but I wasn't a fan. My kid kept trying to flip out of it.
  • Yeah my DS really only liked it because when he sat there we fed him food
  • Nope. Nope. Nope. I'd have request another OB to deliver.

  • @theletlers we used a walker with DS :#  but our pediatrician supported it in our case. He ended up starting to walk around 10 months. But, he was also 21.75" long at birth so by the time he was old enough to support himself in it he was able to put his feet flat on the floor. Not in the beginning of course, but a little before he started walking on his own he would stand in the walker and take a few steps, then when he would "fall" he just sat down in the walker. I believe it's one of the reasons he walked so early, I also was the same length at birth and was in a walker and ended up walking very early. But I also completely understand that every child is different. If they're shorter or if their hips are more narrow it could definitely encourage the wrong form. Also, I think the walker model can have a huge impact as well. But I also believe that putting even soft soled shoes on babies when they're learning to walk has a huge impact that I personally don't believe is good... but I have a feeling I'm going to be upsetting a lot of people on here with this and my last comment so I'm just gonna....

  • I felt flutters at 12 and consistent movement at 14 with my last (second) pregnancy.  I'm almost 14 now and haven't really felt anything I was 100% sure of yet.
