@arteduc8 My dream is to open an Etsy shop and sell art I make. That's so cool you sell your photographs online. Also, I have IT band issues too  I was signed up for the NYC Marathon in 2015 and 2016, but I had to forfeit my bib because my IT band kept seizing up. I got up to 16 miles and then it started attacking me at like 4 miles. Physical therapy didn't seem to help, but I maybe never went long enough.
Etsy makes it really easy to run a shop. I get my photos printed on demand when someone orders one, so I didn't have to invest a lot up front on inventory. I did pretty well when I started out, but I stopped putting a lot of time into new listings and such when my DD was born which slowed traffic to my shop. Someday I'll put more time into it.  What kind of art do you make?

IT band issues are the worst. Mine got so bad that it was pulling my fibula out of place and in turn causing foot issues. Also caused lower back pain as well. I did physical therapy too, but results were nonlasting. I found regular chiropractor visits have helped me a lot, but running seems to be out of the question for me. Such a bummer that you had to give up your spot in the marathon! And after training so much I'm sure it was a huge disappointment. But always better to listen to your body.
  • @arteduc8 I don't really make art right now (I just draw and try hand lettering for fun). I'm not good enough to sell anything. That is part of my problem in not opening a shop ha. I follow a lot of bloggers that have Etsy shops (one draws handmade cards and one makes plush decorative animals), so it's just a lofty dream of mine.

And wow, I didn't even realize your IT band could impact your foot as well. That sounds awful.

    3. I am dyslexic yet most people have no idea, I love to read now. I couldn't read until I was in the 5th grade, after the 4th. I was taken out of school and homeschooled. I absolutely hated that. I still can't spell well and rely on autocorrect more than I wish to admit. ;)
My parents pulled us after my third grade year. I'm good at reading, but when it comes to math I can barely function. I failed the introductory math course at community college three semesters in a row while making A's in my other courses. That was humiliating.
  • So many of you have done such cool things!!

I feel ya hun!!! I am not sure how I passed algebra. The letter and number combos still don't make sense to me. SO helps our 1st grade son with his math homework, i can do it but I get frustrated and it doesn't help him for mommy to be frustrated. Were you able to pass the math class or get into a different one? Don't be ashamed. It happens to the best of us.

No I dropped out because I had to pass that course and if I took it again I'd be paying out of state tuition. :(
