My parents came by yesterday afternoon to hang out with the kids, and I invited them to stay for dinner. Ended up making a big Thanksgiving-inspired meal, and I laughed to myself when I pulled this out of the pantry. @ekendall09 would have been horrified

@kmalls I don't know if I've even had homemade stuffing. But it wont be me making it if I ever want homemade. I don't have a desire to do so and will stick to my red box of deliciousness.
We went out of town for a wedding this weekend and I'm exhausted. My toddler is overtired and woke up still at the butt crack of dawn and asked for cookies for breakfast. She cried when I said no. I seriously wouldn't mind napping on the couch all day and eating cookies with her tho.
I found a cool website to help you organize your debts and you can compare the different methods of paying them off (snowball, highest interest first, etc.) I think it's so cool, but also depressing to see the amount of student loans I have left blah. That is the number that never seems to change!
I have eaten 5 cider donuts in the last 24 hours and I give zero fucks.
Woke up to water in the basement this morning after tons of rain yesterday/last night and I shop-vac'd it up by myself while DH slept because 6:30am is much too early for his delicate self so YES I had TWO of those donuts for breakfast afterwards.
@frenchiekinplusone I was just going to post about cider donuts! We got a box of them at BJs on Saturday (which has a surprisingly wonderful bakery) and as of now, there is ONE left. I def had one for dessert last night and one for second breakfast this morning (first breakfast was two pieces of Halloween candy). NO REGERTS.
Also, sorry about water in your basement, that's such a pain. Did you guys ever lose power? We didn't, though power lines are down all over town.
@kmalls we went to Cider Hill Farms in Amesbury yesterday (yes, in the rain) and they had just put out a hot tray of them. They are my absolute favorite thing in fall and will be responsible for most of my 2nd tri weight gain thankfully we didn't lose power at all, just a few branches down and leaves everywhere outside, even plastered to the siding on the house. Glad you guys didn't lose power, it's the worst!
Not sure if this fits here but we'll see....Two weeks ago I had surgery to remove a lump from the back of my leg. The surgeon was pretty sure that it was a lump of fat that got traumatized and just formed into a sort of rock like 'tumor'. Well I had a follow-up appointment last Friday and found out that it is cancer. The oncologists in my town haven't dealt much with this type so they are not comfortable treating me, so I have to go to a different town. I'm just waiting for the phone call on when my appointment is. There are a lot of questions right now, the big one being....is the cancer all gone or did it spread?? Some extra prayers would be great. As far as I know, baby will be ok through all of this, so that is a plus.
@dlammers woah I am so sorry to hear that, that is terrifying news. Are you close enough to an area with big hospitals that might be better equipped to treat you? Sending so many positive vibes your way.
@dlammers so sorry to hear this!! You are in my thoughts. To go off of what @kmalls asked re: hospitals you have access to - definitely advocate for the best care you can reasonably access. You should feel totally comfortable and confident in the abilities of whatever doctors will be treating you.
I bought a new (used) car this weekend and totally missed the fact that it has hint of smoke smell (I thought it was their cleaning products and never made the connection) Anyone have any tips for getting it out? I febreezed once and put fabric sheets under the seats but its still lingering!
@dlammers oh no I'm so sorry, that must be so scary. Do you know what type of cancer it is? Hopefully it's a slow growing type. I hope everything is ok and taken care of quickly for you. I will be thinking of you.
@dlammers - you are in my prayers! Glad they finally removed the tumor so it’s no longer growing. I hope you find a great doctor who takes good care of you. I also hope you are getting lots of support from family, as it has to be a very scary time until you have a better idea what you are facing and what the game plan is.
@dlammers I am so sorry you are facing such a scary experience during an already stressful time. FXthat it scans as benign and contained. I am rooting hard for you!
@ekendall09 ugh that's annoying! I feel like febreeze + dryer sheets + time will eventually take care of it, but maybe add one of those little tube air fresheners that clips into an air vent? My mom always puts them in my stockings at Christmas (there are Yankee Candle versions) and they're pretty strong. I think you can get them at CVS.
@dlammers I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope everything is okay and you can get some good news very quickly.
@ekendall09 Maybe try an open container of baking soda? It absorbs other smells but I'm not sure about cigarette smoke. Otherwise just keep the windows down as often as possible to try to let it air out.
I went with a Lexus GX460. I technically don't need the third row (I guess maybe baby 3 could be on the table) but I know we'll enjoy the extra space! I also test drove an Audi Q5 but couldn't picture having a smaller car when the jeep I was trading in. It was a hard choice because I liked them both for different reasons!

@ekendall09 ooooh girl you fancy! Great choice! Regarding a third row: we bought a big SUV with a third row immediately after baby #1 was born. You'll definitely never regret the extra space. We rarely use the third row for actually transporting people even now with two kids, but the gigantic trunk we have is the absolute best. I'm not excited about needing the third row for a car seat when this baby gets here.
@kmalls I had my previous quite basic jeep for 8 years so I was overwhelmed with all the things newer cars do and have. Its definitely more of a dream car than I imagined but i'm thrilled with the choice. I totally agree with having the bigger trunk space and not really using the third row!
@dlammersI'm so sorry you are going through this. Sending lots of prayers your way. Hope you get a great medical team and that they already got everything.
Regarding stuffing, I loved the box stuff as a kid, cuz it was a treat (weird right?) but my Dad's homemade stuffing on the holidays always takes the cake. Its now the dish I bring to DH's family holiday pot lucks because they all love it now too. It has sausage, green apples, bread, and deliciousness smothered in butter baked in!
@dlammers Holy high stress! All the thoughts and prayers for you!!!
@ekendall09 no advice for the smell but congrats on the new car! This summer, the month before we got pregnant, we upgraded my corolla to a minivan and holy space batman. I'm loving the bigger vehicle!

dlammers Prayers for you! I hope they caught it early!
So super random, but my H's mom gave him a chart of her family history Skutec Czech Republic in the 1600s. It was pretty cool to look through it. We decided that for Christmas my siblings and I are going to start the journey of tracking our family history. For the next year for our parents gifts (anniversary, birthdays, etc.) we will provide updates on what we've learned. Hopefully by next Christmas we are able to provide a pretty in-depth history. It'll be pretty awesome.

Can you really consider it stuffing if it doesn't have sausage, cornbread and loads of butter on top to give it just the right amount of crunch!?

I think there is a paid version too, but I just use the free one.
