My doctor prescribed me Reglan for my morning sickness. I’ve taken Zofran in the past with great success, but I was under the impression that Diclegis is the new go-to medication for morning sickness. I was surprised when I picked up my meds from the pharmacy and it was Reglan. Anyone else take this? I don’t feel like it’s working well at all.
@emjeve My doctor told me vitamin B6 for nausea and that it's available over the counter. I have been lucky and haven't had much nausea so I haven't tried it but it might be worth the try if you're nervous.

If you don't feel like it's working, then tell your doctor you need something different. No point taking something that's not helping.
@LukesMom16@emjeve B6 is typically the first line of defense. Then B6+unisom (the combo is considered the diy version of dilegis). Have you had severe nausea? That might be why your doctor when straight to prescription instead of the OTC meds. But I agree, if Reglan isn’t working see if you can get a script for zofran.
Is Zofran only prescribed to those who are actually puking, or does it help with the all day nausea too? I’ve been on Diclegis for almost 2 weeks and it isn’t even touching my nausea this time. I’ve been absolutely useless for days and I need to try something different
I wanna be in the SSG (super secret group; because everything has to have an acronym on TB)
Also, I have a Q hoping for some A's...does anyone have any super secret dress pants hacks for the bloat? Like the dress pants with the little button on the inside and the tab across the front. I.e. business casual torture. Like the hair tie trick for jeans but for dress pants?

@krashke I sit at my desk with my pants unbutton and only button them when I walk outside my office. Business causal ffw is about to morph into maternity ffw in a matter of days. I had trial last week so it was all suits. But big button up shirts and leggings are coming soon.
@krashke I second the belly band! They SAVED me when I was working during my first pregnancy. I have been desperately trying to find mine. They come in a few colors too
@doxiemoxie212@Miz_Liz I wish I liked the belly band. I hate the layered look of a tank top sticking out from under my shirt and that's what I feel like a belly band looks like. I have one that I borrowed from a friend so maybe I will give it a go.

Is anyone here knowledgeable about health insurance? I have always assumed I had pretty good health insurance until this year when I actually started needing to use it and learned that no one can tell me what testing and procedures will cost until I actually have them and get billed (thousands of dollars) months later. DH and I are each on our employer's high deductible plan (having an HSA is amazing). It would be slightly more expensive to combine to one plan now plus our combined deductible would go up (once there are three of us it is more cost effective) but I am wondering if he has better insurance than me such that it would be worth it. His company is based out of Alabama, mine is Tennessee, so we each have BCBS coverage based in those states. I have no flipping idea how to compare the coverage when I can't even figure out what is covered at my work. Thoughts?
@krashke the belly and puts too much pressure on my stomach when I’m bloated so I dislike it. I just bought the maeband off Amazon. They also have other pants extenders that work for the hook and eye type closure on Amazon.
@zamora_spin before you stress yourself out completely comparing - can you even go on his now if you wanted to? Most companies only allow changes during open enrollment or a life event such as marriage, birth, adoption...you may be stuck for now. I would still look for when you can (if you can’t now), but you may have time to figure it all out.
@zamora_spin First, search back through your email to when you got the plan breakdowns via open enrollment. That will give you a starting place to compare. Second, states vary widely on what they cover. It should be pretty easy to see via google if Tennessee or Alabama are more friendly to maternity-related healthcare (or it may be that they're the same). Third, with high deductible plans you're always going to pay more when you're first using it, but the good news is that baby is due in June, so you will likely have met your deductible by the time it's time to deliver (because you'll be going to the doctor so effing often in 2018; I had a friend who delivered in January, and she was reaaaaally annoyed because her deductible reset). That said, you'll want to find out what your... I think they're called lifetime/yearly maximums are?
Also, I have BCBS of Illinois and they have a website where I can search services and get cost estimates. Also, there's a number on the back of my card that I call sometimes, and they always can tell me really easily what things will cost. And I've been told BCBS is the most annoying when it comes to that sort of thing, so I imagine yours must have a similar function at the least?
when I started with the belly band with my son, I hated it. but someone told me a trick (or maybe its the right way to do it.. and I was doing it wrong). but either way, for FTMs just an idea... put the band on under your pants, then fold the top down over your pants. I felt that worked best and it didn't peak out under my shirts. obviously everyone will have their own preference though.

@sabby2 ~ It’s usually the first person in the BMB that mentions a secret group as a joke that is actually the one that has started said secret group ;-)
Belly bands never fit me right. I wanted to like them, but they weren't for me. I also found that I loved full belly coverage maternity pants while some of my friends only wanted the 1/2 belly coverage (or whatever it was called). Every body is different.
@zamora_spin - I have BCBS of Tennessee and I agree, I never know what things will cost until the bill comes. I'm also on a high deductible plan. One big thing is to watch when your EOB (estimation of benefits) comes through. I access all mine online. If I see that something should be covered because my deductible has been reached, but they're telling me I owe, it's likely due to a paperwork issue. If they say that a "preauthorization was not on file" then call your doctor, let THEM know that's what the EOB said and they'll work it through with a retroactive preauthorization. Once received, BCBS will pay. But for some dumb reason, BCBS never tells the doctor/hospital that the preauthorization wasn't there, they only tell us. Which leads to phone calls and annoyance. In the end, they pay it though. Just watch the EOBs and the codes at the bottom.

@Miz_Liz My open enrollment started today and DH’s will overlap with mine. So if we want to switch before a life event it’s time to do it. @doxiemoxie212 My insurance has a website like that but I learned the hard way it is not comprehensive while we were doing RPL testing with the RE. For example, HSG is a pretty routine thing and could find no information (even emailed HR benefits coordinator) on 1) whether it was covered at all 2) what it would cost. Turned out it was partly covered, didn’t find that out until way after the fact. Genetic testing has been a complete disaster - dr said it would probably be covered because of RPL, or it would be a couple hundred even if not covered, BCBS told me the “you pay” portion would be $9,800 after the fact. Call Natera and they said I would be billed $750 but to call and they would reduce it. Got our bills this weekend and mine is $4,500, DH is over $7k. So now I’m going to have to deal with that.
I don’t mind paying more because of the high deductible plan because you get to use your HSA which you can also continue to bank and accumulate for health care costs whenever. Plus most years it’s less expensive because you pay a much lower premium and don’t need a lot of health care. I’m just confused about how to even compare plans when I can’t figure out what my plan covers now.
So I have an appt. to test for genetics and gender at 9 weeks 3 days. Has anyone else had experience with this? I am wondering how accurate gender really is this early.
TW: So long story to add to a previously answered question of mine. Yesterday (DH traveling for work, so I'm home alone) pg bladder wakes me up at 5am-ish, around 6am I get a text from my friend (I previously asked about her before shes suffered 3 m/c, most recently in August) she says she needs a digital pregnancy test, can I bring her one, they are down to one car and her bf is at work. She says "this one is showing a faint line." I haven't told this particular friend I'm pg yet because honestly I haven't been able to bring myself to bc I know what shes been through, I sat in the hospital with her through the last m/c. So I hop out of bed, get the digital test and get to her apartment. She shows me the first test and there is absolutely no + line. She kept saying "you see it right?" I felt terrible. So I say just take the digital just to be sure, she takes it, the result states "not pregnant." So I asked if she took test with her previous pregnancies she said "no" (I'm not sure I believe this answer). So I asked why she is taking them now, she responded she wants to be pg. I asked when was her last period and she said she started spotting yesterday (Saturday, the day her period is scheduled to come) but she said she's spotted with pervious pg. Her ob is putting her on fertility meds next month (Nov. AKA in a couple days) and I think she is just freaking out bc she wants to do it w/o the meds. Afterwards we went to breakfast and she didn't stop talking about it. I feel horrible. I'm concerned about her mental state. I haven't told her, I definitely don't feel like I can right now. I'm confused on how to proceed. I want to talk to her bf about getting her some help but I'm not sure thats the right thing to do.
@tudalu2516 I'm getting genetic testing with the gender next week (when I hit 11wks). I was told by the counselor I had to wait till 11 weeks though, not any sooner. I don't know if its a requirement of the test I'm doing? or what is the reasoning behind waiting.

@catlady1215 yeah, I was told 11 weeks too. @tudalu2516 that said, once you're in range for NIPT, it's extremely accurate related to gender as long as you have a singleton pregnancy.
@tudalu2516 I had genetic testing with DD and will again this pregnancy (yay for being AMA). Like @catlady1215 the earliest I could have blood drawn for it was 11 weeks. Did you get any pamphlets on the testing or anything?
is anyone getting any heart flutters/palpitations? I've been feeling them for a few days. I do have an autoimmune thyroid condition. it does need checked this week.. its been 4 weeks. but my last check, it was still really (below the 'norm') so I'd be surprised if it jumped that much in just 4 weeks where I'm feeling the symptoms of that.

@catlady1215 I saw someone else post about them too but I forget where - maybe last weeks symptoms thread? I know that typically heart palpitations are nothing to worry about but since you have an underlying condition probably worth mentioning to your Dr.
@miz_liz thank you! might need to venture to that post and look. I avoid the symptom thread. I think I subconsciously feel the symptoms as I read them in there
