Do you think that if the baby is twisting their body during the u/s that it can throw off the scan some? Or like the placement of organs or anything? I was just curious since they took two hours to get what they wanted since baby wouldn't untwist.
@sparklingdiamond I think so. We have to go back next week to re-do some of the anatomy scan because baby was in such a weird position and they couldn't get everything. They spent so much time on certain things and it was giving me anxiety.
DS (3yo) has a fever (again, he just had one a few weeks ago). He's acting fine, just no appetite and very cuddly, he's currently napping on me. For those of you w/little ones, how high do you let your kids' fever get before giving any ibuprofen or Tylenol?

I usually don't worry if it is below 102 unless she clearly doesn't feel good (is in pain). But I do dose her before bedtime no matter what the fever is because fevers get worse at night and I don't like the idea of it suddenly spiking without anyone around to monitor.

His kept creeping up and and it was making me nervous. I gave him Motrin when it hit 103.5 about an hour ago. Down to 100.9 now and he's acting like his insane self again. I agree about dosing before bed.

If its at night I medicate for 102 or above. If acting fine, 103.5.
@knuttyplus2 I bought a Bella Band last week and it has been a game changer for me. I use it mostly like a comfy, stretchy belt, folded down around the waistband of my pants. I have used it with my regular pants (unbuttoned) and with underbelly maternity pants that wouldn't stay up, and it was wonderful. I had been uncertain about buying one, because they're a bit pricy and I know not everyone loves them, but I'm really happy with mine!

@hedgepig I basically had this all of 1st trimester. I googled and basically if it was a uti or kidney infection I should have other symptoms, so I just assumed part of it was from growing uterus and a full bladder.
Is anyone else having tailbone pain? It started today. I remember it hurting before more towards the end of pregnancy, but I didn't think a whole lot of it. It hurts to sit/lay on, then I'm ok, then it REALLY hurts when going to stand up and the pressure is coming off it. It even hurts when I cough! I looked it up today and it's a thing, lol. I hope I don't have to deal with this pain 24/7 for 24 more weeks.
@psuxray07 so much tail bone pain. Mine gets to the point that I can't put full weight on my left foot. So changing out of pants into pjs at the end of the day is next to impossible. Either have to lie down to change or awkwardly lean all of my upper body on the bed and kick my pants off that way. It happened with my first too. I'd get stuck laying down or sitting down and my husband would have to help me up because the pain was so bad. I'm anticipating another very long second half to this pregnancy as well.

@mcb2016 everything seems earlier for me too! I already had back issues (probably from 1st pregnancy), but luckily it hasn't been bothering me more than normal...yet.
@dirtyboots that sucks! Mine hurts a lot, but as long as I'm standing or something it doesn't bother me to move or anything. But the getting up part after sitting is the worst. And it came out of nowhere today. I was like...did I fall on my butt and not remember? Nope, just baby stuff! I'm gonna look like an old lady at work tomorrow. Good thing these little babes are worth it!
@hedgepig I had that early on with my DS and was later very prone to BH and was diagnosed with a irritable uterus. I had to drink a lot of water but then not wait to have a full bladder to go.
STMs: when did you/will you stop picking up/carrying your other child around? Are there guidelines on this? I wake DD up at 6 every am and bring her downstairs, mostly because shes half/full asleep still when we do. It doesn't bother me now but I imagine it'll get harder. (4.5yo and 40lbs) I sort of assumed i'd do it until I didn't feel comfortable...I just can't imagine not picking her up, shes a snuggle bug!
@ekendall09 I never stopped picking up DS when I was pregnant last time. Granted, he was 19 months old when DD was born, but I really feel like asking women to not pick up their kids while pregnant is ridiculous!
@ekendall09 I have cut down tremendously on picking up my 2.5 year old ( granted she is the size of a 4 year old and weighs 40 lbs). I have a bad back, so I knew it was coming soon, but it still really sucks. For right now I get my cuddles on the couch or from getting on the floor with her.
@hedgepig my uterus will feel super tight when I have a very full bladder and is better after I use the restroom. This usually happens mostly in the mornings. @ekendall09 I've had some issues in the beginning and was told not to lift over 20 pounds. I have a 2.5 year old that weighs 36 pounds and the doctor is aware of it. I do have to get her in her car seat and out of bed (shes in a crib still) but I try to limit it. I feel that our muscles are so use to doing it constantly everyday that it's not something that I would worry too much unless told to stop completely.
@ekendall09 I only pick up my son to put him in his carseat, and I have him jump up to give me a boost because it's high up. He's 44" and 46lbs. Occasionally I'll lift him off his bed (loft bed about 4 ft high). I forgot to ask at my OB appt, Dang it!
Anyone else's boobs feeling kinda... fibrous? Lol. Mine have gotten a little unruly in size since getting pregnant which I know is normal, but they are feeling different. I don't want to say lumpy because I don't feel any specific hard masses... I guess fibrous is my best description? Lol. I totally spaced at my OB Appt this week and forgot to ask and have her check them. I wish they'd do a breast exam every appt because I am terrible at remembering to do them myself.
@sjn00 I'm sure it is and is probably a super dumb thing to worry about, haha - just caught me off-guard! *TW* a friend was diagnosed with very advanced breast cancer a few weeks after the birth of her first child so I think that's why I'm extra anxious about it, but glad what I'm feeling seems to be perfectly normal! End TW*
For STM+ *TW, discusses weight gain*: is this pregnancy following past pregnanc(ies) pattern of weight gain? In all three past pregnancies, I have gained very little in the first 20 weeks but gained the entire recommended amount in the second half of pregnancy. This time, I am gaining steadily, which is fine, assuming I continue to gain steadily and don't follow my pattern of putting a lot on very quickly toward the end.

@lindsye - this pregnancy seems to be mirroring my second, in that I haven't gained much yet. I know it'll come more towards the end. I gained a ton right from the get-go with my first, but I also went nuts and ate horribly the entire time. I think I'm just better at being pregnant, now
You'll be fine. I'm sure you're aware of your nutrition and as long as you stay on top of it, I wouldn't worry about putting on a lot very quickly at the end. You're a pro at this point!
Thanks, @kmalls! I mostly just think it's weird - I have been eating more or less like I always do pregnant (I think?) so it's odd to me that I'm deviating from my normal pattern. As long as it all evens out in the end, though, I'm all good with it.

@ekendall09 I stopped picking up DS when I found out I was pregnant. He's nearly 6 and weights 50 lb, though. I will still lift him up/down if I need to but I won't carry him any more. I've cried about it more than once!
@kaymaroo thats so tough! I think I might cry if we get to that point. I'm still using my carrier and each time I put her in it I keep thinking it could be our last time....cue tears!!
Thanks for the feedback girls!! I think i'll probably check with the OB just in case but continue to carry/lift her assuming i'm not feeling discomfort etc.
I told myself that when my DD turned one I would be ready to put her in her own room at night...well....that happened last week and I am so not there! She still sleeps in her PNP beside our bed. She will occasionally STTN, but typically wakes up between 1:00 and 3:00, however if I pick her up and snuggle her she goes right back to sleep. I'm not ready to give up those snuggles yet But with the new LO on the way I know I probably need to go ahead and break this habit now. This is tough!
Anybody have any good tips on making the transition? Both for mama and for baby??

My girl is a maaaajor snuggler, so I feel your pain. We transitioned her at about 12 months too, and found out that she actually slept better in her own room (probably because my husband snores and thrashes). A sound machine helped quite a bit. She did take her sweet time on quitting waking up once or twice a night, but we found that picking her up made things worse. She gets tucked in, a few back rubs, then we ninja sneak out.
We did find that she likes to be in warm PJs with a cold house. She is a thrasher like her father, so a lot of her wakings early on were from her losing blankets, until we put her in wamer PJs.
@Kaessi I moved DS to his own room when he was 13 1/2 months. For him it's just seemed like it was time. I maybe wasn't ready, but he did great. The first week he had one MOTN wake up each night and by the 2nd week he was STTN. Some sort of noise machine helped a lot. We have a huge aquarium in our bed room so he was used to that water noise. I had a old water bubble lamp that is in his room now and at bed time he goes and turns it on himself. lol It's hard, but for mine pushing if he wasn't ready just didn't seem to work. I bed shared with him till 11 1/2 months. I had tried on multiple occasions in previous months to move him to his own bed and we both ended up getting less sleep. Then one night we tried around 11 months and he did great. Same with moving to his own room. We tried a time or two and it didn't work and then one night it did. What clicked for him? I don't know, but I don't regret taking our time transitioning him to his own bed and ultimately his own room.

@lindsye YES on the weight change! For DS and DD I had little to no gain until 20 weeks, then gained the rest of my weight between 20-40 weeks. For this pregnancy, I'm seeing steady gain the whole time. The only difference is really my activity level. Not that I was super active for DS and DD, but I did get 10k steps a day in. I average about 5k now....... I keep trying to up my steppage but I can't seem to find the time. I'm hoping that its just a slower steady gain for the whole pregnancy... and not my big gain for the last 20 weeks like with DS and DD

@knuttyplus2 I found the band to be annoying because I had to replace it every time I peed (which is often) I say invest in some maternity pants instead.
